The more covert the abuse is, the more difficult it is to explain, difficult it is to describe, the more difficult it is to perceive from the outside that the other person feels and and here comes sort of a a long string of adjectives.
That a person feels unseen, disregarded, disqualified, unequal in status. Um, demeaned, used, um, felt as not a person in their own right, but only an extension of the other person, existing only for their benefit or good.
It is largely an assault on personhood. It's an assault on value and worth aimed at control of another.
