Before we lift our voices in prayer, let's dwell on the promises of God. God wants you to have joy in the midst of your ordinary, everyday life, even on the worst days of your life. Every single day is filled with all kinds of situations that could upset you. And you choose to be at peace and in control. Or you can choose to let the situations control you. But how you face the various situations that await you in your day is dependent on how you start your day.
When you get up, do you allow fear and anxiety to flood your first thoughts and then take that through your day? It's so important that we give a lot of thought into how we start our day because how we start has a lot of impact on how our day goes. The right way to start our day is by starting it with Jesus. By spending our first waking minutes with him, by directing our thoughts to him before anything else. "Oh Lord, in the morning you hear my voice. In the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch." Psalm 5:3.
Creating the habit of starting your day with God is life-changing. It prepares you to face whatever challenges that come your way. And when it becomes a habit, you will have a source of strength to draw on all day long. I am not saying that starting your day with Jesus will eliminate all trouble. But it will help you have the right mind as you face challenges and problems as they surface, and you receive the strength you need. Each day has its own trouble, and we need to face them with the Lord by our side. "So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today." Matthew 6:34.
As you spend time with the Lord, you can bring your worries and anxieties to him. It's so easy to get out of peace by the troubles that you face daily. Maybe you haven't been able to sleep because of the problems you have been facing, and you need peace. The word tells us that Jesus gives his followers peace over all things. So don't start your day with worries and concerns because feelings of fear and anxiety will plague the day ahead. Instead, start your day with God because you will take hold of and enter into the peace that God has for you. Peace is a precious gift from God that you can have the moment you wake up by spending time with him. "And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7.
Spending time with God is very crucial for us because we cannot experience God's spirit and power until and unless we spend time in his presence. As we go deeper into the message, please like the video and subscribe. It means a lot and helps us bring more encouragement and inspiration to you. The truth is that if we don't have Jesus, we are spiritually dead. In the book of John, Jesus says, "Abide in me and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit; for apart from me you can do nothing." John 15:4-5.
We need his help to do every single task every day. So when we start our day with the Lord, we invite him into our day acknowledging that we need his help. If we are confident in our own ability, then we don't need the Lord. But we do need him, just like Jesus needed his father every single day. He would make sure he would commune with him daily. "And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place. And there he prayed." Mark 1:35. It was his custom to get up very early and spend time with his father.
While Jesus was on earth doing his earthly ministry, he demonstrated the importance of prayer. When he was proclaiming the good news, many people would come to listen, to be healed, as well as other reasons. He was always surrounded by many kinds of people, but he often withdrew himself from the crowd and went to a solitary place, and there he prayed to his father. He needed to spend time with his father in order to fulfill his mission on earth. Similarly, we need Jesus to accomplish the mission that he has given each of us. So spending time with him is important in the morning when we get up, during our lunch break, or in the evening. The bottom line is we need to make it a habit of spending time with the Lord.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." John 1:1-5. When we are in darkness, there is no peace. When we don't have any idea about solving problems that come our way or have no idea how to get through the fear and worry we face, then we are in trouble. But as we spend time with Jesus, he brings light into our situations that we so desperately need. In his grace and mercy, he has given us his word. So why should we not start our day with his word? When we read the Bible, we get direction and guidance for our daily tasks, and Jesus speaks through it. There is wisdom, healing, help, and supernatural power in his word. "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." Psalm 119:105.
We need God in our lives. Period. Let's create a habit of spending time with him every day, especially as we start our day. Now, let's pray.
Heavenly Father, I come before you this morning with a heart that longs for your presence. Thank you for the gift of a new day, a fresh start, and the breath in my lungs. Thank you for your grace that meets me right where I am. Lord, I surrender this day to you; the moments I understand and the ones I do not. The joys I will celebrate and the challenges I may face. I choose to begin this day with you. Father, I confess that sometimes I allow fear, anxiety, and worry to shape my thoughts before I even step out of bed. But today, I invite your peace to flood my heart and mind. Help me not to carry yesterday's burdens into today. Your word says that each day has enough trouble of its own, and you have already promised to walk with me through it all. I look to you, Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith. I declare this morning that I need you. I cannot do anything without you. You are the vine, and I am a branch that must stay connected to bear any good fruit. Keep me close to you today. Let your spirit guide my steps, my decisions, and my conversations. Help me not to be ruled by emotions or external circumstances, but to be led by your peace and your truth.
Lord, I ask for your strength today. Give me spiritual strength to say no to things that pull me away from you and yes to things that draw me closer. Give me emotional strength when discouragement tries to creep in. Give me physical strength when I grow weary. Let my thoughts, words, and actions reflect that I have been with you. Jesus, you rose early to spend time with the Father. And in doing so, you showed us the importance of being anchored in prayer. Let that same desire be formed in me. Let it not be duty but delight to be in your presence. Whether in the stillness of the morning, the chaos of the afternoon, or the quiet of the evening, help me to prioritize time with you, not out of obligation, but out of love.
Lord, I lay my worries at your feet; the ones I've spoken and the ones buried deep in my heart. You are my refuge, my strong tower, and my place of peace. Your word says that the peace you give surpasses all understanding. I receive that peace right now. Let it guard my heart and mind as I walk through today. Holy Spirit, bring your word alive to me. Speak to me through scripture. Let it be a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Show me what I need to see. Remind me of what I need to know. And teach me how to walk in your wisdom. When confusion tries to settle in, let your truth anchor me. Jesus, be my light in every dark situation I face today. Be the voice that calms my fear. Be the hand that lifts me when I fall. Be the strength when I feel weak. Be the answer when I feel lost. Be the joy when I feel sorrow. Be the calm in my storm. Thank you for being Emmanuel, God with us. I am never alone because you are always with me. Let me carry that awareness into every task, every meeting, every interaction, and every quiet moment today. I commit my plans to you and ask that you establish them. Let your name be glorified in my life today. Let people see you in me. Let me walk in humility, speak with kindness, live with integrity, and serve with love. May this day be one where your presence is evident and your will is done in my life. I love you, Lord. I trust you. I depend on you. Be with me today and every day as I choose to walk in step with you, in Jesus' precious and powerful name. Amen.
