Rewriting Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom - The Jurassic Rewrite Series

The Rewrite Workshop51:36

Transcription

Welcome to my rewrite for Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom. Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom stands as the second film in the Jurassic World trilogy. And it sits at a very weird place in my opinion when it comes to these movies. Like with many other things, and actually quite similar to Revenge of the Fallen, it sits as a very odd exception to the Jurassic Park franchise. That being said, there are things that I think work very well about it and some things that could use some refinement.

Hello everyone, my name is David and welcome to the Rewrite Workshop. On this channel, we take movies and TV shows and other forms of entertainment and rework them to bring out their full creative potential. If you're new here, welcome.

Now, as for Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom, I think that the original premise of the movie is very good. The idea of getting the dinosaurs off the island and ending with the narrative promise of the dinosaurs are now out in the real world. I really like the idea of this movie and there's a lot of concepts about the movie that I think work well. The return to Isla Nublar for the final time and the Indoraptor and its story are standouts. However, I think the story is also bogged down by some other things as well as lore retcons such as the inclusion of Benjamin Lockwood that make the movie seem like a very convoluted mess that's trying to shoehorn itself into the franchise and make it seem like this was all part of one big plan since the original movie.

So, as always, my goal with this rewrite is not to overhaul the entire script. It's instead to take the parts of the script that work well and keep them and enhance them, as well as taking the parts that don't work as well and refining them in order to create a more cohesive story.

Additionally, I'll preface with two things. Number one, with this rewrite, this rewrite is going to be a lot more of a continuation of the Jurassic World rewrite. If you've seen my Transformers and Revenge of the Fallen video, you'll know that the Revenge of the Fallen rewrite didn't really need the 2007 rewrite in order to work. However, with this Fallen Kingdom rewrite, it is going to be going based off of what happens in the Jurassic World rewrite. So, I'll include a link if I remember so that you can catch up on part one and part two of that. The second thing is that obviously, as always, this rewrite is not intended to be a way for me to elevate myself or claim that I am a better writer or storyteller than the people who made this movie. This is just a fun, creative writing experiment. So, with all that out of the way, let's begin.

We will open the same way as the original movie with the submarine gliding through the water towards the Mosasaurus pen. The team will infiltrate the lagoon and one of the submarine pilots is still very worried. "Relax. Based DX would have killed it by now." They find the body of the Indominus and get a portion of its rib cage to the surface where it is retrieved by the rest of the team. As they turn to leave, the Mosasaurus jaws and closes around the submarine and the lights go out.

The hacker is patched into the main Jurassic World Park systems and is preparing to close the gate when Rexy appears from the tree line. It chases the hacker trying to defend her territory. The hacker has to leave in a hurry and is not able to confirm the gate close command actually went through. The hacker jumps for the ladder on the helicopter and manages to get away from Rexy. Instead of having Rexy tug at the ladder, he manages to grab on and the helicopter gets high enough that Rexy cannot grab the ladder. As they cheer, the Mosasaurus leaps from the water and eats the hacker. One of the other mercenaries, seeing the helicopter is about to go down, disconnects the ladder and it plummets with the Mosasaurus back into the lagoon. As the helicopter flies away, they all sit there shocked before they look at the Indominus bone. "DNA sample secure. Tell the boss we're coming back home."

We then jump forward in time. A news anchor gives some details about how the United Nations is still debating how to best approach the recent news of the imminent volcanic eruption on Isla Nublar. And joining me today to provide some more insights into these dinosaurs, former Jurassic World park manager, Miss Claire Dearing. "Hi Sarah. Thank you for having me." Now, Miss Dearing, it has been 3 years since the fall of Jurassic World. In that time, you have started a nonprofit called the Dinosaur Protection Group, which you say advocates for the protection of the dinosaurs left on Isla Nublar. "Yes. So, our mission at the DPG is to ensure the dinosaurs are respected just like any other wildlife on this planet." Circling back to the summary you gave just moments ago that includes protection from environmental disasters like volcanic eruptions. And so it is your belief that the United Nations should put effort towards saving these creatures even considering their ethically gray origins? "Yes." Let me ask you Sarah, do you have kids? "I do." Okay. So your kids have grown up in a world where dinosaurs are living and breathing. But soon they'll have to watch them all go extinct. "Or not if the public can show the UN that these animals are worth saving." Thank you, Claire. Now, we have someone who has a different opinion on today. Joining us today, Dr. Ian Malcolm. "Sarah, Miss Dearing, great to be here. I think it would be best if I jump right into it." Sarah nods. "Excellent. Now, I believe that we should allow our magnificent and glorious dinosaurs to be taken out by the volcano. As deeply saddening as that would be, we altered the course of natural history. This is a correction. We as a species have continuously proven ourselves as capable of making great leaps in technological power and we have constantly shown we are incapable of handling that power. 80 years ago, who could have predicted nuclear proliferation? And then there it was. And now we've got genetic power. So, how long is it going to take for that to spread around the globe? And what's going to be done with it? It ain't going to stop the de-extinction of the dinosaurs."

"It's an honor to meet you, Dr. Malcolm, but I have to disagree. Yes, humanity has a bad track record, but for the most part, genetic power has been used quite responsibly, especially in the case of the dinosaurs currently present on Isla Nublar."

"Miss Dearing, please correct me if I'm wrong, but you have spent the past three years in a courtroom fighting lawsuit after lawsuit alongside the rest of Masrani Global. Why?" "Well, because you signed off on your scientists pushing science as far as it could possibly go without thinking of the moral or ethical repercussions of such an act." "Does that change the fact that these are endangered animals about to be wiped out?" "As I said, this is a means of correcting the course of natural history. This is about teaching us a lesson. I warned John Hammond that his carelessness for scientific boundaries would result in chaos. And now I am warning you. You can say the dinosaurs on that island are animals all you want, but at the end of the day, what they really are is just the result of a series of ignorant decisions and unchecked ambition grown in a test tube and paraded around for the whole world to see."

Thank you both. I unfortunately have to cut this short. As we have heard, the UN has just come to a decision. Claire watches as the broadcast switches to the UN. The representative gives the same conclusion as the original movie and how there will not be any action taken by the UN. Claire is distressed and sad at the UN announcement. Suddenly, she gets a call from Eli Mills, Masrani's protégé, who has inherited the Masrani Corporation. Claire travels to meet him and finds him waiting when she arrives at his house. Claire makes a comment that he seems to have evaded the lawsuits well to which he replies he had plausible deniability and the lawyers are just looking for a quick payday anyways. He also mentions that you can do anything even if it seems impossible if you have enough money. Eli tells Claire he has a personal and corporate stake in the survival of the dinosaurs and he is planning an operation to rescue them since they are still technically property of Masrani Global. Investors are pulling out and he needs to rescue as many assets as he can before the company collapses. He asks Claire to join the expedition since she has admin access to the park systems. During the conversation, Claire spots a young girl peeking from another level. Eli notices and calls her over, introducing Claire to Maisie, who in this rewrite is his daughter. She shyly says hi, and Eli explains after she leaves that Maisie's mother died in childbirth. So, he's trying to fill the role of two parents for her. It's probably best I talk about this now. Yes, this does mean that in this rewrite, Mr. Lockwood will not be a part of the canon or the movie. And that is because I personally found his inclusion five films into the franchise to be very odd. You can obviously add in new lore that explains previous events, but it felt weird to have Mr. Lockwood be included after being unmentioned for the entire franchise up to that point.

Claire, Zia, a vet from the Dinosaur Protection Group, go to find Owen since his animal expertise will be helpful in navigating the island. They go to a nearby bar. We learn that Claire and Owen were in an unofficial relationship after the park collapsed, but Claire pushed Owen away once the lawsuits started coming in. Owen reluctantly agrees to help since he is silently hoping he can find a Blue. The three of them then go to find Lowery. Claire says he knows the park systems better than anyone, so they need him. Lowery also reluctantly agrees. As a quick side note, since Jake Johnson plays Lowery and Nick Miller from New Girl, we can have the scene play out like Jess is trying to convince Nick to go to an island full of dinosaurs. And I also think it would be fun to have a potential cameo from Max Greenfield or Zooey Deschanel as Lowery's roommate for a fun New Girl reference.

We then cut to Dr. Wu in a lab. He is slowly piping something out of the Indominus Rex bone. We see a montage of him running a lab protocol called a Western Blot. He images the blot and finds a string of bands. He smiles and writes in a lab notebook: "Antibody present."

Owen, Claire, Lowery, and Zia prepare to depart for Isla Nublar. As they get ready, Eli pulls Claire aside, asking her to also keep an eye out for Masrani's body, as he at least wants some closure on his mentor's fate. The team travels to Isla Nublar and lands where they are met by Barry. Owen and Barry embrace, reuniting after several years. "Hey, this time, eyes on me, Barry." "No, eyes on me, Owen." "What is this?" "Inside joke. When the Raptors were younger, we used to always say it to them. We said it so much we both accidentally said it to each other at one point." Barry then introduces the team to Wheatley, the man in charge. As they introduce themselves, the ground suddenly rumbles. The quake from the volcano is brief, but Wheatley says the gap between this one was a lot shorter than the previous one. The entire team moves through the park and gets to Main Street. Owen and Barry take a moment to mourn over Echo and Charlie's bones before they begin attempting to track Blue, hoping she hasn't gone far. A Brachiosaurus moves through Main Street. The group stops to watch while Lowery tries to get the park system back up remotely. After the Brachiosaurus moves away, Lowery finds the code entries that opened the Mosasaurus gate. They are only a couple of weeks old, so this was not a result of him shutting down the system when the park fell. The group moves up to one of the geothermal power plants and activates the system. Claire uses admin privileges to access the tracking system and Lowery isolates some of Wheatley's personal preference dinosaurs, including Blue. Owen, Zia, and Wheatley go after Blue. Barry is assigned to go with an Allosaurus alongside another team. Claire and Lowery stay behind to coordinate and track movement. Wheatley wants to also get Rexy, so the groups will meet up after getting Blue and the Allosaurus to get her. Lowery warns everyone that trackers do have an input delay depending on how fast the animal is moving, so they should not rely solely on the trackers.

Owen, Zia, and Wheatley go for Blue. Owen lures Blue out and tries to keep her calm. Wheatley moves in, but Blue freaks out, jumps on a soldier, and gets shot. Wheatley takes Owen and Zia with him because he knows Blue stands the best chance of survival if the two of them are there. We will be changing this from the betrayal scene in the original movie. Barry and his team go after the Allosaurus. When they get there, Lowery warns them of a Ceratops herd that could stampede them if they get too close. The team successfully captures the Allosaurus, but a few of them do die in the process, showing how dangerous the mission truly is. Suddenly, the volcano begins getting more and more violent, and lava spews down, trapping Claire and Lowery. This time, Claire notices the ladder hatch early, but it needs an override. As Lowery is typing away, they hear a growl come from the other tunnel. Lowery pulls up the tracking system and sees a Baryonyx is coming up the tunnel, likely to hide from the small lava spew that just happened. There's a tense scene where Lowery is trying to input the close command on the tunnel door before the dinosaur gets in. He executes the command and they hear the door close. "Yes. The input lag from the Baryonyx tracker updates, showing it made it through the door." "Oh, you've got to be kidding me." "Lowery, get the hatch door open." The Baryonyx enters the room. It notices the humans and goes to attack. Lowery gets the hatch unlocked and the scene plays out the same. Claire and Lowery radio that they are stranded and are trying to make their way back on foot. Owen hears this and decides to go after them.

We then cut to a quick scene of Eli walking through a dinosaur exhibit before being jumped by Maisie. They spend some quality time and he shows her the sanctuary where they are planning to take the Isla Nublar dinosaurs. Maisie asks if there are any real dinosaurs here right now and Eli hesitates before saying no. He sends her off to play with Iris, her caretaker. Eli turns to a hidden keypad and quietly inputs a code, opening an elevator.

Back on Nublar, Owen gets to the last location of Claire and Lowery and starts tracking their footprints. He manages to catch up to them, but the three of them stop moving as they hear the sounds of a large dinosaur stomping around nearby, clearly some sort of carnivore. They all quietly back up, never seeing the dinosaur. But they do find Dr. Wu's secret lab, which they enter. This is the same secret lab from the previous movie, where Dr. Wu and Masrani had their final confrontation. Owen goes and sees the frozen corpse of the Indominus sibling. Claire takes a look around, hearing chittering. A group of Compsognathus run around the corner and run outside. Claire turns the corner and gasps. Her face swells up with tears as she sees the decomposing, half-eaten remains of Mr. Masrani. An important note about this scene in the Jurassic World rewrite: Dr. Wu killed Masrani with DX, and then the Compsognathus ate his remains, meaning DX might be on the loose in the animals at the bottom of the food chain on the island, but the characters don't know that right now. Owen offers support to Claire, but not much in the way of comfort. Clearly something is going on. Lowery accesses the lab computer and finds a bunch of offline files from Dr. Wu. "Grab them. Maybe we'll find a clue on where he is." The volcano rumbles again, this time more violently. The group makes their way to Owen's jeep, but are forced to outrun the eruption rather than head back to the boat. The group is forced to go over the side of the cliff in the jeep. Instead of Owen outrunning pyroclastic flow and ripping open a gyrosphere, he will be the first to get his seatbelt undone and help Claire and Lowery get their belts off. They all make it to shore and see the team grab Rexy and another Baryonyx, as well as a large number of herbivores. Wheatley is shouting that they need to go. Barry is protesting, saying they can't leave Owen, Claire, and Lowery behind. The scene with them barely getting onto the boat and the Brachiosaurus being engulfed in smoke on the dock can remain the same. The only changes are that Barry goes to investigate who barely got the truck onto the boat, finds the three of them, and is happy to see they made it out alive. Instead of it just being one Brachiosaurus, everyone sees groups of dinosaurs, herbivore and carnivore alike, getting trapped between the ocean and the eruption, though the focus still remains on that Brachiosaurus. Everyone is heartbroken, including the mercenaries, who had no personal stake in the park, and everyone starts going back to their tasks. Barry leads Owen to Blue's vehicle and they pass by a group of Compsognathus who are starting to twitch and growl.

Meanwhile, Wheatley calls Eli and tells him they got every dinosaur he asked for. Eli leaves a small conference room and passes by the elevator he took down. As he walks, he hears scratching coming from a level further down. He pauses for a moment, feeling slightly uneasy before shaking it off as ambience. He opens a door and enters the same lab Dr. Wu was in earlier. He finds Dr. Wu sat at a computer parsing over a DNA sequence. "Henry, I think you'll be happy to hear that the team got plenty of dinosaurs off the island. Congratulations. Are you not excited? You'll finally have more to play with than just that soggy old bone." "I know I don't come down here often, but are you always here? Do you ever get any sun or sleep?" "No to the first question. Yes to the other two. I am not excited because your mission was a corporate endeavor that could have disastrous consequences." "You're being dramatic. I rescued these animals. Now all I have to do is sell them to the highest bidder and then the company's financial crisis is solved." Wu remains quiet. "I'll let you get back to it, Henry." He turns to leave. "It's not a sprint, Mr. Mills. It's a marathon." "Marathon sounds expensive." He leaves. Wu waits a few moments, then mutters to himself. "Wasn't expensive when I finished Project Resurrection for you."

Meanwhile, Eli heads back up the elevator. He checks the security camera to make sure no one is around before he steps out. But he does not see Maisie hiding in the fake jungle foliage, waiting to scare him again. She sees him look around, enter the code, and then hide the panel. He walks away and she sneaks up behind him, jump scaring him again. When she asks about the elevator, he is quite dismissive and just says it is boring work stuff.

Back on the boat, the team finds Zia taking care of Blue. She does not need to get a blood transfusion in this rewrite since Wheatley didn't betray them. Owen and Zia were able to do a better job at taking care of Blue until she got on the boat and were able to stop her from losing most of her blood. Zia is also able to get the bullet out of Blue's leg with Owen and Barry comforting Blue and distracting her from the pain.

Over the next few days, we see several things. Barry and Lowery talk about the destruction of Isla Nublar and what it means now that the dinosaurs are outside of the box. Barry says Eli Mills was very clammy when he asked about the future of the dinosaurs. Owen and Claire talk about their relationship. Owen expresses that he felt hurt when Claire pushed him away after the park collapsed. Claire apologizes, saying she did not want him caught up in any more of her mistakes. The two seem to reconcile while Owen watches over Blue. There are brief shots of the ship workers taking care of the dinosaurs, doing things like cleaning out waste, ranging from the big dinosaurs all the way to the Compsognathus, and feeding the dinosaurs. Keen-eyed viewers would notice that the workers are not following proper sterile protocol during these processes and the Compsognathus end up biting a few of them during the process.

We cut to Maisie walking through the mansion and sees that Eli is on a call. She walks around some more until she finds Iris escorting some men into a guest room. Iris tells Maisie they are business partners here to see her dad. She also passes by some other men and one of them quietly says he is looking forward to buying a carnivore. Maisie goes to talk to Eli and we get the exchange from the original movie. Eli is deep in conversation. "Wheatley, you can't be behind schedule. I need you to speed the boat up and the dinosaurs are probably behaving weird because of the seasickness." "Dad, not now, Maisie." "But Dad, I heard a man say he wanted to buy a dinosaur." "I said not now." He pauses. "Sorry, Hannah. Maisie, this is a really important call. If you give me a little longer, we can go get some lunch and I'll tell you about the dinosaurs." "Okay." Maisie is visibly holding back tears. "Okay." She leaves.

After a few days journey, Wheatley comes in to find Owen and Zia. He needs an animal behaviorist and a vet. The Compsognathus are behaving more erratically. Some of them have started attacking each other. Two deck crew members who were bit by them have come down with a high fever, and a Stegosaurus and Carnotaurus are acting very drowsy despite not being tranquilized. Owen examines the Compsognathus while Zia takes a look at the Stegosaurus. Owen is worried as the Compsognathus are behaving similarly to the Indominus during the Main Street fight. Suddenly, the Stegosaurus begins having a seizure. After it calms down, Zia's best diagnosis is just seasickness. Owen relays what he noticed to Lowery, asking him to parse through any of Wu's old data. He remembers when Wu threatened to release something called DX during the park collapse, and now he is worried Wu might have done it.

Back at the house, Maisie sneaks up to the control panel in the dinosaur exhibit, enters the code, and moves down the elevator to the secret lab. She hears the same scratching from a level further down that Eli heard earlier. She sneaks around, seeing all of the strange lab equipment. Wu is strangely not in the lab for once, but he was still parsing over the DNA sequence from earlier. Maisie reads the file name as "sequence.raptor.blue," indicating this is Blue's genome. She finds another file open labeled "sequence.indoraptor." It does not make much sense to her, but she does see that Wu seems to be placing DNA sequences into this file from the Blue file, essentially building the genome inside the computer. She also finds a file marked "Project Resurrection." She clicks on the file and opens the first image file. She sees Eli with a woman who bears an uncanny resemblance to Maisie, though much older. She is shocked. This is the first time she has ever seen a photo of her mom. Hannah, as the caption on the photo states. She closes the file and sneaks away after hearing Wu come back into the lab. He mutters about how he needs Blue here in good health and how Eli could never understand the complexity of creating an entirely new life form. "I won't have to deal with you forever, Mr. Mills." Maisie sneaks out of the lab and down some stairs to the level below. She finds a bunch of empty dinosaur cages, all different sizes to house the dinosaurs from Isla Nublar. She hears the scratching again coming from one of the old tunnels. She slowly inches down it and sees another cage away from the others. She gets close enough, but then turns around when she hears her dad's voice speaking with Wu. As she continues to back up, the clawed hand of the Indoraptor reaches out and brushes her hair. She turns and it looks at her for a few seconds, seeming to study her. It then roars at her. She runs away screaming and is found by Eli. "What is that? What is it?" Eli leads her upstairs and has Iris keep an eye on her. He heads back downstairs to speak to Wu about the Indoraptor. Then he gets a call from Wheatley saying they are about to dock.

The boat docks at shore and there is a quick scene where Claire wakes up realizing she fell asleep on Owen. Armed guards come in to apprehend the dinosaurs. Owen, Claire, Barry, Zia, and Lowery all try to talk them down. "You guys cannot take the dinosaurs off the boat. Some of them are sick and it's spreading to humans as well." "Wheatley, tell them." Wheatley sighs and sides with the armed guards. "Sorry, Owen. I'll let Mills know and he told me to proceed. Besides, she says it's just seasickness." He gestures to Zia. Lowery steps forward. "It's not seasickness." The guards point guns at him, and he backs up. "Dr. Wu's old files had references to an ancient prion disease called DX. It's infected some of the dinosaurs, and it spread while we were on the boat." "I think we outnumber you guys. Toss them in the back of the truck. We'll see what Mills wants to do with them." The guards handcuff everyone and transport them to the mansion. The scene of the dinosaurs getting loaded into the cages plays out the same as the original movie.

Dr. Wu and Eli speak inside of the lab. "So, you made a new dinosaur in the basement of my house." "I am trying to perfect my previous creations, Mr. Mills. This prototype is incomplete, but is no less impressive. It would likely fetch a hefty price." "So, you made me a gift. I have a hard time believing that." "Don't believe me if you want, but you might need it. You don't have the faintest comprehension of what you've done by taking the dinosaurs off the island." "Are you talking about that DX thing Claire and the others would stop whining about whenever Wheatley called me?" "It has infected the dinosaurs you are about to sell. I have specifically engineered the Indoraptor to be the perfect predator while being completely resistant." "How?" "The Indominus Rex had latent DX from birth, but it was only active in the last few hours of her life. The sample you retrieved from the island for me not only formed the template for the Indoraptor, but it also confirmed the presence of DX antibodies. I've been micro-dosing the Indoraptor for months, and its immune system is completely resistant to the disease." "When you came to me after the park collapsed and told me you had a way to save the company, this was not what I had in mind." "Can you engineer some sort of cure for the dinosaur population here so I can go through the auction?" "Curing an ancient disease is not a one-day process, Mr. Mills." "Spare me the poetry, Henry. Can you do it?" "Yes, I can do it." "Good." He turns to leave. "Oh, and I'm taking that prototype with me. Anything to get it out of my basement." After Eli leaves, Wu smiles.

Eli tells Wheatley to start getting the dinosaurs ready for the auction since Wu can supposedly fix the DX infection. Maisie manages to sneak out of her room and starts moving through the house. The house is bustling with activity as the auction is being set up. Meanwhile, Eli goes to visit the group sitting in one of the cells. "Hey everyone, I just wanted to come down here and apologize. I never wanted you guys to get involved, but you were the only way we could have gotten this many dinosaurs off the island." "Eli, what are you doing? Why bring the dinosaurs here and not the sanctuary?" "Oh, Claire, there never was a sanctuary. You fought so hard to save the dinosaurs. Now they have a future. Just not the one you imagined." "What are you going to do to them?" "To them? No. No. No. With them? How many millions do you think one of these animals is worth? And the whole lot? Enough to get the company out of financial trouble." "So, you let the dinosaurs out of the box and now you're just going to spread the love. You can't do that." "Yes, I can. Because you and me and Masrani are all the same. We've all exploited these animals. At least I have the integrity to admit it." "I never exploited these." "You authorized the creation of the Indominus Rex. You exploited a living thing in a cage for money. Money that would get the park out of financial trouble. How is that any different? Huh? This is how you plan to save the company? I mean, you're a smart guy. You could have assembled a team to find the cure for cancer." "My plan seems to be working so far. Enjoy the show."

Wheatley is organizing the dinosaurs and getting them ready. He notices that Blue is not present and discovers Wu has a private security group that brought the raptor to him. Before he is able to do anything about it, he sees one of the armed guards that was not on the boat get drowsy and suddenly have a seizure. Wheatley has them transported to the medical area and goes to look for some keys.

The auction begins. Everything proceeds as it normally does. The workers give each dinosaur some sort of pill supplied by Dr. Wu before it goes to the auction floor. After the captured Baryonyx is auctioned off, the group is still locked in the cell, seeming pretty dismayed. "Lowery, can you override the controls to the door? I need access to the main system." "To do that, I need a key card, and they've been pretty good about keeping that from us." "So, what do we do when we actually get out of here?" "I need to get to Blue." "Claire and I will go to her cell and make sure she's okay. Everyone else, see if we can sabotage this auction. Keep the rest of the dinosaurs in the building." "What do we do with them after that?" "Get them to safety, whatever that looks like." "You guys are being awfully optimistic for people still stuck in a jail cell." "We'll find a way out of here."

There is a buzz at the door and it opens. They step outside to find Wheatley standing there with a key card. "I'll admit you're probably not happy to see me right now. I'm sorry about earlier, but some of the guards not on the boat are infected. This is getting worse." He hands the key card to Lowery, telling him he can use this to release the dinosaurs and shut down the auction. As they all leave, Wheatley grabs Owen's arm. "Owen, Blue is up in the lab. Dr. Wu is here. He claims he engineered a cure, but the Carnotaurus that just got auctioned off was still looking drowsy. And there's some mystery dinosaur on the auction list. I'll do what I can here to buy you time, but you need to hurry." He hands Owen his spare pistol and supplies the group with walkie-talkies. Owen and Lowery are both very suspicious, but Lowery is relieved to see the key card actually does work, which dispels a lot of the group's suspicions.

The group splits, and Owen and Claire run into Maisie. They console her similar to the original movie. It is obvious she's feeling overwhelmed with everything going on. Seeing the Indoraptor and how her dad has been acting, Maisie tries to show them the Indoraptor, but they get to the tunnel and the cage is gone. At the same time, the auction participants are shown the Indoraptor for the first time. Owen, Claire, and Maisie watch from a window like the original movie. Auctioneers start bidding for the Indoraptor. "That thing can't leave this building." Claire gets on the walkie-talkie. "Lowery, we're running out of time." "Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm almost there. Barry, you ready on transport?" "This is the most dangerous thing I've ever done. And I worked with four Velociraptors for 6 years." Lowery opens the cage housing the Stygimoloch. Barry lures him to the elevator as Owen joins him to close off the Stygimoloch's potential escape. They lure it into the elevator. The two of them dodge the dinosaur in the confined space as it takes a few headbutts at them. Suddenly, the Stygimoloch bites Barry's hand. Owen and him share a look of worry just as the elevator door opens. The man who Maisie overheard say he wanted a carnivore has won the bid for the Indoraptor. The audience's applause quickly changes to screaming as the Stygimoloch rampages through the crowd. Owen and Barry fight their way towards the Indoraptor and manage to stop its cage from moving. Everyone else runs away and the Stygimoloch runs off into the forest.

Meanwhile, Maisie guides Claire to the lab where lab workers are packing everything up. Wu has Blue sedated and has managed to extract a good amount of blood. "Henry, Claire, what do you have to say for yourself? You made another hybrid and lied about curing DX." "DX can't be cured. At least not yet. There needs to be a sufficient data set in order for a cure to be made. I only had the Indominus on the island. Now Mr. Mills has sent many more reps off." "You would let thousands of people get infected in order to find a cure." "How do you think we got the smallpox vaccine?" He turns to leave. "We found Masrani in your secret lab on the island. What did you do to him?" "Gave him a bad vaccine." "You killed him." "I can't let you leave." "I know. Just remember, Claire. You owe me a great deal. Without me, Jurassic Park would never have existed. Neither would Jurassic World. Your successful career is my doing. All of this exists because of me. I pushed the boundaries of science because they can still be pushed. And now it's time to see if they can stretch a little bit further." Wu pushes a button. A large remote override appears on all of the screens in the lab and the auction hall and the Indoraptor cage door unlocks. Owen and Barry see this and run to hide. Meanwhile, Wu grabs his briefcase filled with vials of Blue's blood. He has some guards escort him and the Indominus Rex bone out of the room while some others hold Claire and Maisie at gunpoint. On the auction floor, the Indoraptor opens the cage door and begins walking around freely. It starts sniffing. It is clearly confused because of all the different scents, but it is slowly making its way towards Owen and Barry. Owen whispers to Barry, "Elevator isn't far. We might be able to make a run for it." He looks at Barry and sees that he is sweating and drowsy. Barry whispers back, "There's no point, Owen. I'm infected. I can tell." "No. No, you can't be. Here, gather your strength. We'll run for the elevator, find Will, and I can cure you." "I don't think there is a cure." Barry suppresses a cough, but it is still loud enough. The Indoraptor growls and starts moving closer. "Go. I'll buy you some time." "I'm not going to leave you." "Owen, the dinosaurs are out of the box. You and the others are the only ones who know. You can stop this." Barry reaches out his non-bitten hand. Owen is welling up as he shakes it. "Give my regards to Dr. Grant if you ever see him." "I will. Eyes on me, Barry." Barry smiles. "No. Eyes on me, Owen." Barry stands and faces off with the Indoraptor. It roars and immediately dives for him. Owen runs and gets to the elevator. After the door closes, he breaks down in tears.

Claire and Maisie are still being held at gunpoint. They are escorted from the lab where the guards suddenly grab their necks and drop to the floor. Claire sees they have been shot with tranq darts and she looks over to see Wheatley lower his gun. They move downstairs and find Owen. He tells them about Barry being infected and then sacrificing himself to buy Owen time. "It... It's my fault. I should have suspected any dinosaur would have been infected. Now the Styggy is loose, meaning DX is loose and Barry's dead." "Owen, he made a choice. It could just as easily have been you. But it wasn't me, Claire. That's the problem." "Owen, I'm sorry about Barry. If that thing's loose, though, we have to get out of here." Owen, Claire, and Maisie turn to look at him as Owen asks, "Can you help us?" "Yeah." He gets ambushed from the side by the Indoraptor and the rest of the group runs inside a small door, barricades it, and moves through the rest of the house. I'm taking this moment from the second trailer for this movie. There was a quick scene at the end of the trailer where Owen asked this question to a random security guard. He said yes and then got ambushed. It never appeared in the movie, so it will be here, but Wheatley will be that random guard. The Indoraptor grabbed Wheatley by the arm and he will have a similar death to the original movie where it bites his arm off, eats it, and then eats the rest of him.

Eli enters the lab and sees that Dr. Wu is evacuating. He dispatches a security detail to get the samples and the Indominus Rex bone. There is a brief altercation between the two groups of guards, and Eli manages to get the Indominus Rex bone, but Wu was not present, so everything else is gone. Lowery and Zia see that most of the dinosaurs are now displaying DX symptoms. Lowery starts combing through the mansion systems, trying to find Dr. Wu's research, while Zia finds the supposed cure pills Wu supplied to the guards. Zia wants to feed them to the rest of the dinosaurs immediately, but Lowery wants to find out what Dr. Wu actually made first. He starts parsing through the lab computers, trying to find anything. The two of them also see that Blue is starting to wake up from her sedation in another room. They hide just to be safe and watch as she slowly wakes up and runs out of the lab.

Owen, Claire, and Maisie sneak into the dinosaur exhibit room. The scene with the Indoraptor stalking them through the room can remain the same. The scene is going to play out with the Indoraptor being much more persistent. Since the Indoraptor is meant to be an expert tracker, it is going to continuously pursue Owen no matter what they try to do. "Clare whispers, 'Why is it going after you? It smelled me and Barry in the auction room. I'm splitting up from you two. Try and draw it away.'" Owen sneaks off on his own and dims the lights enough for the humans to still see so they are not in the dark while the Indoraptor is tracking them. Claire and Maisie sneak into the actual exhibits behind the glass. Unbeknownst to them, Owen has done the same. The Indoraptor continues to pursue Owen. Claire and Maisie almost make it to the exit door, but then Owen rounds the corner trying to get to the same exit door and they bump into each other. They exchange a look of "uh-oh." And then we get the shot of Maisie seeing the Indoraptor and it is reflected in the glass. The Indoraptor crashes through the glass. Owen and Claire get Maisie out of there, and the Indoraptor manages to stab Claire's leg before the two of them get through the exit door. Without being able to follow, the Indoraptor chooses to go after the screaming child. Maisie runs through the mansion being chased by the Indoraptor. Iris finds her and tries to defend her from the Indoraptor, but is killed. There is a deleted scene from the original movie where this happens, and we're going to keep that in. Claire tells Owen to go find Maisie. The two kiss and Owen grabs the pistol Wheatley gave him. He starts to run off, but then hears Blue calling nearby. He finds her and starts to lure her down the path of the Indoraptor's destruction. "Hey girl, easy. I got an idea. I need you to help me the same way you did with the Indominus."

Meanwhile, Zia and Lowery are still looking through the data. "There's so much data here. Project Resurrection, genome mapping of the Indoraptor, Blue's unusual genome, Indominus Rex DX antibodies." "Click it. Yep, here it is. Wu says the Indominus Rex produced DX antibodies. Didn't cure that thing, but it seems to be what kept the infection on the down low for most of its life. He planned to reverse engineer the antibody and combine it with DNA that helped with antibody production he put in the raptors, explains Blue. Doing this would theoretically create an Indoraptor with DX immunity." He keeps scrolling. "Ah, looks like the pill is composed of those DX antibodies. He micro-dosed them to the Indoraptor to keep it alive and help it build up an immunity. So, they'll work." "Seems like the effects of a single dose are only temporary. And there's nothing about if it will stop them from spreading it. Still, it's something. Come on, help me with this."

Maisie makes it into her room and hides under the covers. The Indoraptor climbs up onto the roof and roars. Owen is still guiding Blue when they hear the roar. Blue looks up and growls. "Yep, I hear it, too. So, I have an idea, but..." He turns and books it down the hallway up towards Maisie's room. Blue roars and gives pursuit. The Indoraptor climbs down onto the balcony and stalks its way into Maisie's room. As it reaches its claw out towards her, Owen bursts into the room, drawing the Indoraptor's attention. He draws the pistol Wheatley gave him and slowly pivots towards Maisie's bed, allowing the door to be clear. The Indoraptor rears its head and roars, preparing to attack, and Maisie still hides. Blue bursts into the room, still trying to chase down Owen. She stops when she sees the Indoraptor. The two communicate with each other for a moment. Owen's eyes get wide, worrying Blue will behave the same way the raptors did with the Indominus. Blue then roars and lunges for the Indoraptor. The two dinosaurs begin fighting. Owen drops his gun and grabs Maisie. They climb out onto the roof. The Indoraptor manages to follow them after kicking Blue away. They get cornered on top of the glass roof as the Indoraptor slowly inches its way towards them.

We then cut to Dr. Wu. He is somewhere else in the mansion taking inventory of everything he managed to retrieve from the lab. He is furious that his men lost the Indominus Rex bone. The scene will shift between Dr. Wu preparing his next move and Eli preparing his. They both want to get out with what they have, but neither party wants to risk going first and being intercepted. After some thought, Wu has an idea. Wu speaks to his assistants. "I will be back. Prepare everything for transport." "Where are you going, sir?" "To expand the variable set."

Meanwhile, Eli has finally run out of patience. "Everyone, grab everything and head for the cars. We're getting out of here. And gas the dinosaurs. If I can't sell them, then no one else can have them." Several guards release hydrogen cyanide into the lower area. Lowery tries to ventilate the gas out, but to no avail.

Back on the roof, the Indoraptor is almost to Owen and Maisie when it suddenly gets shot in the hind leg. The bullet doesn't pierce the skin, but the impact does cause it to slip. It regains its balance and it looks back, seeing Claire holding herself against the wall since her leg is still hurt. Claire starts shooting at the glass, trying to break it under the Indoraptor. At the same time, Owen sees Blue on the other side of the roof. He joins Claire and distracts the Indoraptor. The Indoraptor suddenly turns away from Claire, smells, and then jumps up onto the roof, lunging for Blue. It almost does not make it due to the roof collapsing, but it manages to climb up to Blue. Blue jumps on top of the Indoraptor, causing it to teeter on the edge of the solid roof. Claire takes a breath to steady herself and then unloads the rest of the magazine into the Indoraptor. One manages to hit it in the leg. The Indoraptor roars as it loses balance, and it and Blue fall over the edge into the inside of the dinosaur exhibit. The Indoraptor gets impaled on the Triceratops skull, killing it. Blue falls off and slowly stumbles away. Owen radios Lowery and Zia, saying the Indoraptor is dead. They respond by telling him they need to get downstairs fast. Owen, Claire, and Maisie make it to the control room. Lowery fills them in on how the pills are a temporary treatment for DX, but not a cure. They also see the gas slowly filling the room. Claire begins opening cage doors, but she hesitates before she opens the main door, and Owen stops her. "Claire, you press that button." "There is no going back." "We can't let them die." After a few moments, Claire steps away from the button and everyone looks out at the dinosaurs and the gas continues to fill the room. Suddenly, a large remote override appears on the screens and the main doors open, allowing the dinosaurs to escape. Everyone looks around. No one has pressed the button. Dr. Wu speaks to them through the walkie-talkies. "No vaccine was ever..."

developed without infection. Clare, they look out the window and see that Woo is on the opposite side of the floor. These ones dying would not have stopped the X. Once this experiment has gone far enough, I'll handle this. Until then, stay out of my way.

Woo turns and leaves. Outside, Eli has made a break for the cars. The scene plays out the same, but instead of getting snuck up on by the T-Rex, Eli manages to hide and is found by the group.

"Maisie, there you are. Come here." Misy stays behind Owen.

"Oh, so you're going to take care of her now, huh? You have no idea what she is."

"What are you talking about?" Larry starts to put two and two together and opens his computer to pull something up, remembering what he saw earlier.

"She's all I have left of her. Give her back."

He's talking about Project Resurrection. He shows Clare the computer, her eyes widened with horror. "My wife and I tried to have a child for so long, but that drunk driver took her away from me. I just wanted her to know we had a daughter. And thanks to Woo, I had the technology to create her again."

Maisy's lip starts to quiver as she realizes what this means. "She is a clone."

"I will say I personally am not a huge fan of the clone story line that they went with, but it is important for the rest of this movie and it is pretty crucial for Dominion. So even though I thought it was a weird inclusion in the original movie, I feel like it can be reworked to be an interesting inclusion to the franchise."

The conversation is suddenly interrupted as the T-Rex walks by. Owen tells everyone to stay still, but Eli panics and makes a run for it, getting eaten in front of everyone. During Rex's rampage, the indominous bone gets destroyed.

Owen and Clare comfort Maisie as she mourns her dad. Blue stumbles up and Owen goes to her. "Blue, I'm sorry. I'm sorry I left you on the island. We can take you to a safe place for no one will hurt you again." Blue simply backs away and runs off into the forest.

As the group leaves the mansion, Larry asks what is next. Clare resolves to find Woo. And to do that, they need to inform the world. The group breaks the news about everything, including Woo and DX. However, they keep Maisy's origin a secret.

A few days later, Dr. Ian Malcolm appears before the Senate Council. As Malcolm narrates, there are several shots. Owen, Clare, and Macy drive down the road, seeing pteranodons flying over the ocean. Some of the handlers taking care of the auction dinosaurs begin collapsing from seizures. Some surfers go out into the water, and as they ride the wave, beneath them is the mosasaurus. Rexy breaks into the lion enclosure and roars at the lion, which roars back.

News reports start coming in of sudden unexplained illnesses with symptoms including palenness, wheezing, seizures, and mental degradation similar to that of Alzheimer's. Dr. removes stares at a group of embryos and eggs slowly incubating. We see species names like Gigonatosaurus, there is Xenosaurus, Ketaquatus alongside other species already seen in the series. All this happens with Malcolm's words over it.

"How many times you have to see the evidence? We're causing our own extinction. 30 years ago, John Hammond and a group of scientists pushed science to its limit. And then beyond that, without thinking of the widespread consequences that would bring, now we have groups of dinosaurs out in the wild. A prehistoric disease may or may not be on the loose, and one of Hammond's scientists is still out there supposedly conducting a worldwide experiment. We need to curb this now. These creatures were here before us. And if we're not careful, they're going to be here after. We've entered a new era."

">> Welcome to Jurassic World."

"Blue then runs up some rocks, stares over a nearby neighborhood, and calls. And we cut to black."

And that's going to do it for my rewrite for Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom. I know I say this every single time, but this one was also a very fun project to create, and I'm really excited to be able to continue this storyline going into the Dominion rewrite. By this point, you guys have probably gotten the feel for what the release order is going to be. So, next up is Transformers: Dark of the Moon. I know there was a bit of a quicker turnaround between the Revenge of the Fallen video and this video than there was from something like Jurassic World to Revenge of the Fallen. There is going to be a bit of a longer gap between this one and Dark of the Moon simply because I want to really take my time with that rewrite. The story line itself is already complete, but I really want to make sure that the editing brings that story to life. So, I am going to be taking some time with that. And then of course after Dark of the Moon, we'll round out the Jurassic World story with a rewrite of Jurassic World Dominion.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed the rewrite. If you did, don't forget to like and comment and feel free to subscribe so that you can stay up to date with future rewrites. For now though, I want to thank you for watching. I've been David with the Rewrite Workshop. You've been you. Be good. Be good to each other. And I'll see you guys soon. Take care.
