All right. Um, I'm back from New York and uh I'm back with a different kind of video. Um, you know, I've I've traveled the country now. I've done presentations uh to a variety of different people. Obviously, I do, you know, the weekly video on the markets. I do a weekly podcast with Anthony Pompiano. And as I've traveled, I've gone to events and I've been speaking.
Um, the one question I get asked more than any is how do I start with AI? And I realized something uh probably in Fort Lauderdale when I had, you know, I was using Open Claw the entire time I was at an event and I showed it on stage in terms of answering something and then after someone came up and asked me a question and on my portfolio and I went into it and asked a question inside OpenClaw got an answer and extended it even further. And by the time I was done having the conversation, it had kind of been a three-way conversation between the person I was having it with and the bot. And it just made me realize that um I'm probably taking for granted at this point the foundation and I thought I'd show it to you guys.
So, this is not a how-to video. Um this is a how to start video. I got my son going uh for the most part in this manner and I think the people that have been the most successful have gone this route. Now I'm going to show you how I went through this. So this way you guys can do it. And here's what I'm going to tell you. If you commit one weekend, everything that I'll show you here, if you fight through the challenges, and for some of you it might take a total of, you know, uh, one day, for some of you, it might take spending five, six hours in two days. That is not a lot of time for you to get to where you need to go to finally be able to embrace AI. It will change you as a person. Most importantly, if you don't want to do it, but your kids, you want your kids to do it, give them this video. Um, send it around to family members. I'm going to try to make it simple. Uh, send any comments or any questions. I'm going to try to make this as easy as possible. And if you do this, uh, especially for the subscribers to my website, I think using it with the tools that I'm providing, I'm going to try to give you some insights on how you can use those, um, things that I post on the site. uh and we'll go from there. So, I'm just I'm not going to do this as as a long video. Uh this will probably be about 20 minutes.
But how do I start? So, the first point is that feeling behind is the starting point, not the problem. That is the problem is that with a lot of things in life when you're trying to learn something new, uh regardless of what it is, you just have to start. The problem is with AI, it's moved so far so fast that no one knows where to start. They assume now that it's gotten better, so they don't need to know anything about coding. They don't need to know anything about this, which is true, but you do need a foundation. Um, and I'm not going to use an analogy that I've used in the past for golf, but whatever it is that you've learned in your life later in years, you have to think about how you need a foundation. Um, and for a foundation, you need a path. So, you need a plan. And then as you go through this and you start using it, the one thing I can guarantee is confidence and momentum will unlock curiosity. You will come up with new ideas, new things to do by just going forward.
So for those of you who've followed me on YouTube for the 18 months, um the first thing I did uh before I launched my YouTube channel was to go on Corsera. If you go to my LinkedIn and you look at my certifications, you will see four or five different Corsera courses that I took. Now, for those of you who've never taken Corsera, who've never gone to Corsera, uh a lot of this stuff is free. Uh some of them you pay, you know, an annual service, but you can learn anything and it can be done in a school type setting. Now, it's a class. Uh, it's not you sitting in class. It's you doing it on your own time. Um, you can learn it at your own pace and there's practice exams, there's tests, and when you're done, you get certified for it. You don't have to get certified. You don't have to finish the whole thing if you don't want to. I made it a point that I wanted to. Now, as time went on, I will tell you some of the classwork that I was doing, um, which I'll show you in a second, one of the certifications, by the end, I was using AI as I was going through it. So, all I was trying to learn, and this is the reason Corsair is so important, it's to understand the computer. That is the main thing that you're going to want is how do I understand what the computer is? And I know a lot of us think that we know that, but we don't.
So I took Corsera. I went to this. This is one of the ones you can see. Completed by Jordie Vesser. June 13, 2024. I launched a YouTube channel. I believe late July or or early August of 24. So two months before really only having basic chat skills in AI, I took a course called Programming for Everyone: Getting Started with Python. Here's what it basically showed me how to do. Install Python and write your first program, which was literally like five lines. But by doing it in there, to use a cooking analogy, it's like learning how to turn on the oven, how to use the knife, what chopping means. That is the foundation that everyone should know how to do. It is very basic. And just with this one course alone, in my opinion, you probably have enough of the basics for what you need today. You are never going to learn how to code. But by learning how to load Python, learning how to load up the terminal, learning how to do your first program and run it, it literally is very basic stuff. It does not take long and that's all you have to learn how to do. So that is what I did as part of this this process of figuring out how to understand uh the computer.
So the next step is to work with intelligence. We are past the chat stage and this is the most important thing for you guys to hear. We are at the stage of action. So I want to get you past even thinking about chat. I want you to think about claude co-work for intelligence, meaning it's a co-pilot. So, this is not just asking AI questions. This is letting it help you work. Now, this for those of you who are getting clawed at your office, this becomes critical because with simple tasks like organizing a folder, knowing where the folders are, creating notes, doing research, summaries, workflows. Basically, when you start realizing how you can use this, it starts to feel like a partner. And the reason you should do this is I just used it for the um estate uh organization for my father who passed away last year. I'm still in the final stages of the probate courts. So I've been keeping all the information in one folder on the computer. What I did um to get the probate attorney the information that she needed was everything was in there. That included the estate bank accounts and including all the bills that we paid, including the house sale, any asset sales that happened, every single thing that went on. Imagine if you saved all your information for your business, which I do, all the receipts, all the things you get, they immediately, photos, whatever, they immediately go into one folder. And then what I had to do is I literally said, "Go into this, create a spreadsheet of all the inflows and outflows from the bank statements." Now, again, all I have are the bank statements in there each month. I don't I'm not doing any work. I'm not highlighting anything. I literally just downloaded them and put them in that same folder with everything else. So, it's one folder. Everything's in there. And I basically just connected to co-work and I said, "Go do what it is that you need to do." So, now you're getting your first experience of action. You're basically getting your first thing of a co-pilot. You're getting your first thing of actually understanding what the agentic world can do for you. That means your taxes get easier. That means every single thing that you want to save is in one folder. And when you want to access it, you literally that is like a database.
So what you do is this is claude. Here's chat. Here's co-work. Here's code. So all of us by now know how to use chat. That's when chat GPT came out. Co-work is basically this simple on when you hit the co-work button and then you go click on work in a project it will bring up for you which folder do you want to access. So you can see add folder to this session. So once you click in there, it will say which folder do you want me to basically go to and then you click and what you can see in here what I wanted to show is for those of you who who subscribe to um to my service and you get the thematic portfolio I upload a technical sheet. So in this case the example I want to give is if you go to that folder and I have in this folder every technical sheet that I've uploaded on the Fridays. So, let's assume in the course of, you know, you've got everyone that's been uploaded. That's about five. So, this is what it looks like. I've clicked on that one. And then I go into this knowing that it is now connected to it. So, think of it this way. In the same way that when you go into chat and you say, uh, give me the details on this movie. I want to see what it what ratings it got. I want to see if it was a good movie. It has that access from the internet. Well, this is now doing co-work with inside a folder. It has access to all the data that my portfolio has in there. It has all hundred names. It has all the technical signals. So, I say you're an expert technical analyst specifically good at finding trend changes. Go analyze these files and highlight to me the 10 stocks out of the hundred most likely to be showing signs of a price trend chase. give me a thorough analysis of the index as a whole and if the internals of the index are showing any alarming signs. I do this, I run off, I go do something else. And I'm not going to show you the entire output, but basically it tells me that between April 19th and April 20th, uh, AO Macro Nexus rolled at the surface but held in the foundation. So basically the index uh was staying the same but underneath the hood there were a lot of things going on and it shows the percentage of the names above the 20-day moving average went from 91% to 73% to 48% while the index was still above the 20day moving average. These types of things this is the way I use it. But again you could do this with anything. You could do it with your taxes. You can do it with um anything that you want to have grouped together or just save everything into a file and go through it.
But by using co-work after you've used Corsera to learn how to just think of it as I'm learning about the piano, I'm learning about you're not learning how to play it. You're just learning about it to know what all the keys are. That's what Corsera will do with one class. That'll take you anywhere from six to 10 hours depending on how basic it is. You just go in, you do the class, you listen to a few tutorials, and then you go take an exam and then you're done. If you want to get certified, it might take you a little bit more. All the certification says is showing that you you you did it. That becomes important if you're trying to show that you're AI native. You get it on your LinkedIn. If you're out of work, this is a way to get back in work or it's the way to get a better job. I'm just telling you if you do this and you go through it, everything will change.
Now, the reason I highlighted these three is I just want to make sure you understand that chat, these two are action. This one think of as the co-pilot and then this one is a building side. So this is Claude Code and this is when we start to get into build something. So my son, he built a game for his girlfriend for her birthday. Regardless of what it is, go build something. Go build a recipe app. Go build whatever. It will ask you questions. It'll take you through it. But if you want to go buy something, if you're taking a trip uh and you're trying to uh figure out what to go look at, have it build an app for Italy for your trip to Italy, highlight the places you're in. Have it go there. It can be on your phone. It can be wherever you want it to be. It can be on a computer and that way the whole family can go see it. And when you go to a trip, you now have all the things organized. It has a planner on there. Everyone knows where to meet. Everyone uh if you're part of a trip, build something in there. the confidence will grow if you go through this iteration of great you're chatting with it but learn how the computer is what makes it move what actually goes on not a big ask very simple again hours not weeks or days um then go and use co-work on something that's personal important to you and then finally go build something everyone that I know that has taken the challenge of building something is so proud of what they've built they've sent it to me and these are people I work with these are people that uh are high highly highly educated but had never coded anything. And for them to be able to build something, it never stops there. It's never stopped for me. So go do it. You'll be shocked.
For those of you who've seen me talk about a turbulence model, I just wanted to show you that this is all verbal. So this here you've seen before, like this is five 600 lines of code to build something. So behind the app that you build is a whole bunch of code. All I typed was, "You're an expert quantitative finance developer building tools for complete beginners who have no pro programming experience. Please explain everything in simple clear steps. Hold my hand throughout it. I want you to build a complete ready to-run Python system that monitors financial turbulence blah blah blah blah blah." Now, this entire prompt was from a chat with Claude. I said, "Give me a prompt for Claude code to build this." And then it went through and it said, "I'll build you a complete productionready system." This is why it's so easy. The only reason I'm telling you not to do this yet is because you will run into a situation where you may want to understand what this is. And if you go take the Python class, you're not going to learn how to code, but you're going to understand why this is indented here, why this isn't, any of that stuff, which comes in the most basic 101 side. You don't need to do anything in here. You don't need to fix anything. this stuff is so good that it will keep going until it works. And if it doesn't work, you just go back in here and say it didn't work. That is a promise for me. That's where we're at with this in terms of how good it's gotten.
Now, this is where I start talking about Open Claw. Um, this is when I start talking about Hermes. So, you don't have to do this. I think once you get to the point that you've made it through those, this is kind of like the extra credit bonus side. I would go do this. This is how you basically um have your own personal assistant. Uh these will be easy to deal with. But again, if you've made it through those steps, if you can say that you have your own open claw or Hermes that you downloaded onto your machine, you went through the process, you took the hour or two it is to load it up. Um, I'm telling you, your confidence will be through the roof because you get to say you're doing something that less than 1% of the people on the planet are doing. That will make you 99% of the head of the game in terms of the AI crowd. Um, so again, it's a personal assistant. It allows you to ask questions. It's basically the way Alexa is supposed to be, but it has your information. It knows who you are in a much much deeper way. and anything that you give it, any data files that it can have access to. I upload all of my thematic portfolio information there so I can have the conversation uh with it.
So, Alex Finn is the person for you guys. And again, in the uh in the description, I will put the links to Corsera and to these two tutorials. Um, OpenCloth full tutorial, set up your first AI employee. Alex Finn is very good. um he's the person that I would kind of start with. You can go find, if you just go into YouTube and type a hundred of these, you'll find one. It is that simple. Um to show you how simple is, I wore my uh one of my favorite shows, Sanford and Sun down to earth t-shirt today. Uh to make sure that you understand that anyone can do this. I did not have any computer skills when I uh started this AI trek. Uh so again, for all your kids, they're far more experienced than I am on the computer. And for you guys, I'm just showing you what I did. You can do it as well. Um, Alex is great. You can follow him on X as well and get more information, but he'll take you through OpenClaw. He can also take you through Hermes, which is just a different a different version of an assistant. Uh, there's definitely some benefits to Hermes. So, if you can do both, you can do both.
Um, and this is the end result that I just want to make sure you guys see. Um, number one, so this is my open claw assistant bot. This is a daily briefing. So, I asked it to set up a uh a news item every morning. You can do it yourself once you've set it up. And you just say, "Hey, I want you to go scrape the internet. I want you to find me, in this case, YouTubetubes that are recently launched YouTubetubes that I might have interest in all on AI." So, I do this for variety of things for the video. If you guys wonder how I come up with so much information between doing this with X and doing this with YouTube, it just allows me to gather information very quickly using OpenClaw. Uh, and then here's another one, and this is something similar to what I was mentioning. Go through each of my thematic baskets, and based on yesterday's close, how many in each basket closed below the 20-day moving average? So this is a way for me to again have the information uploaded uh and then be able to ask it questions about who closed below there. Okay, in the chemicals five closed below optical fibers three close below pl 10. You get the picture. Um then I said okay this is great at 405 today. Will you run it again based on today's closing prices and give me the same output. So when I'm looking to see how the technical picture is changing in between kind of the the the weeks, what I'll basically do is hey five of 17 were below. If today eight of 17 are below, that means the breath the technical breath is breaking down. It's just a way for me to do that.
Um, this is what you get from AI. Once you've learned how to play the instrument, then the creativity sets in. Then the curiosity sets in. You just don't need to know everything to begin on this. Um the confidence will bring out a side of you that you want to use it every day, but more importantly, you want to teach your kids. Um you want to show them what you've done. You want to exchange information. It is a very, very empowering tool. And we're at the point that the more people that are saying to me, "How do you start?" when they should have started already. I'm realizing that a tutorial is not what they need. It's really the time is now. It's moving way too fast and you don't you want basically to already understand how to use this and there's never going to be a button to push. The point is not to master AI today. The point is to start and that was the point of this video. The video was basically to get you to get started. I want to hear from all of you on on how this worked. Um what you were able to do. If you you know have any troubles, you know, send me something in the uh uh in the comments. I'll try to answer when I can. Uh, but this is really to help you guys and to get the confidence going. You guys have been great with me. The subscribers have been great. I'm trying to continue to give back in some way. But as I'm going to do more of these videos, I'm trying to help you guys. And for the subscribers, uh, I am going to do one specifically in detail in what I showed with using co-work uh, and all the files in one folder and show some of the questions and actually go through it.
But for everyone else, just remember, understand the machine. Work with your bot, co-work, work with the intelligence. Let it do smart things for you and save you massive amounts of time on your taxes, on anything organizing. I hope you guys never have to go through anything regarding um a family member dying. But keeping everything in a folder and using AI to be able to organize things, it is a it has saved me I don't even know days. It has saved me an enormous amount of time to just make sure that I don't need to go through and analyze and get details on everything when I'm putting together spreadsheets. I don't even need to build the spreadsheets. Build small things, even if they're spreadsheets. They don't have to be apps. They don't have to be games, but just build something so that you see how powerful and easy it is. And then the bonus part for all of you guys, go build your own bot. Go use it. Go think about how to go through it. And again, unlock that curiosity.
