Hazrat Ali, in his Tahajjud prayer, asked for a son who would support Imam Hussain in Karbala. Allah gave Hazrat Abbas. When he turned 12 years old, he participated in the first battle. On the other side, there was an army of 80,000. Maula Ali smiled and said, "Which of my sons will go alone against them?" Hazrat Abbas came forward. Hazrat Abbas said, "Father, I am your son. If you don't remind me of Khyber, then I am not Ali's son."
Hazrat Abbas's horse moved forward, walking like nobles. There was an army of 80,000. He said, "Is there anyone who will come forward?" They all looked at each other. "This one has come alone. Who is he?" A brave man named Qurb, recognizing him, came forward. He said, "You are Ali's son?" He replied, "Yes." He said, "Have you never seen me?" He replied, "Have you never sent me?" Qurb thought, "The son is Ali's, he looks like Ali, he speaks like Ali, so he will fight like Ali too."
The battle began. Hazrat Abbas, in a single strike, severed his head from his body. Seeing this, the army of 80,000 started to flee. Everyone knew that he was Ali's.
