And I think it'll give a countdown. Okay, all right. Hi. Okay, so first of all, before I can say anything, I'm just so excited to interview like, because I watched your interview on Deep Believers Channel and I was hooked. Like, I did not stop. Like, I was hooked. Like, I honestly was just, it, it was just so much in that one interview. I was like, I have got to interview him on spiritual warfare. Like, can I? I'm happy to meet you, Janisha. Happy to meet you too.
Okay, so first, let me do a brief introduction to anyone that has not been on this channel before. This is Encounters with God. We have a special guest today. His name is Pastor Dave Brian. And if I had the round of applause, I would just clap. And so, um, before we get started, Pastor, do you want me to call you Pastor Dave or Pastor Brian? Uh, Dave. Yeah. Okay, call me Dave if you want, but, uh, yeah, keep it casual, girl. Okay. Uh, let every, before we do anything, let everyone know how they can follow you on your social media. Uh, if you go to our main church website, which is Church of Blood Tidings, there's buttons that you can click to follow all the different social media that we do. So it's right on the, the homepage. Church of Glad Tidings dot com.
Okay, and then I'm going to make sure that I pin that website on my description when I post this on YouTube, so everybody can just click and go straight to it. Come on, girl.
All right, so here's my first thing. Okay, first, if, listen, for people who have not heard you, we, please give us your testimony. Because I, I want to know, like, how did you get past? Okay, most people are comfortable with just reading the Bible, going to church, and never really seeing God move in their life. Like, and some people don't know. It's like they, it's like they think that what happened in the Old Testament, New Testament, that's it. Like, it already happened. Like, it can't happen to me. So, like, how did you get past that point of just reading the scripture, learning, or whatever? Like, how did you start encountering God?
Well, that is a really good question. So, um, I grew up as a Christian. My dad was an Assembly of God pastor, and my mother was just a wonderful Christian pastor's wife. So I had a really good family, and, uh, they, they're very precious. Uh, my understanding of growing up is that we believed that everything could happen. MH. But we didn't really expect anything much to happen. Does that make sense? So, so, um, so the way I describe it is that there was a, a big gap between what I said I believed and what I experienced. And so it would be like this: I believe that we can lay our hands on the sick and they'll recover. However, they generally don't. So we lay our hands on the sick and pray for them, and then we send them flowers and tell them to find a good doctor. All the same things that everybody else does, right?
So, fortunately, Janisha, when I was young, I had an experience with Christ myself. I was five years old. I, I still remember very clearly, and it was a spiritual experience. I, I don't really know what you repent of when you're five years old, but anyway, I knew that God loved me and that he was involved in my life. So I had a lot of questions as I, uh, as I grew up. I grew up in a public high school. Everybody knew I was a Christian, um, and yet it was a principled life, but there was nothing miraculous about it. And so I went on, and by default, I went to Bible College. I never planned to be a pastor, but my father said, "Well, while you're planning for your career, why don't you go to Bible school for a year?" And one year led to two, led to three, led to four. So went all the way through a four-year Bible College, and I, I never did see any miracles. Uh, I saw sincere people, right? And they would pray for people, but the kind of thing you read about in the book of Acts was not happening in that Bible College. And so that confused me a bit. And, uh, but I did, I, I knew the Bible. Uh, I learned from the classes I went to. And then my father was pastoring again at that time, and he invited me to come and to start a Bible College in, uh, Aberdeen, Washington. And so I did. And it was called Raymond Bible College. We started Bible College, and I was teaching classes. And I remember when a young man in the Bible College, he was actually probably several years older than I was, but I was very young at the time. I was probably, uh, 23, and I was running the Bible College. And, uh, I was teaching the book of Acts and the life of Christ, because I, I bore easy, to be honest with you. So a lot of things are boring to me. And I thought, well, I'm going to go right for the gusto, you know, where, where there's miracles happening. And so that was the book of Acts and the life of Christ.
So I remember as I started teaching these classes, uh, the very first year, this brand new convert put his hand up and interrupted my teaching every time I talked about a miracle. And he would say, "Excuse me, can you do that?" And, uh, you know, at first, I said, "Can I, can I turn water into wine?" It was the first miracle of Christ, right? I said, "Can I, water into?" He said, "Yeah, can you do that?" And I said, "No, I can't do that." And he said, "Okay, thank you." And every time I talked about a miracle, he would ask the same question: "Excuse me, can you do that?"
And so, uh, it, it began to, uh, chafe me a little bit. And so I went up to him after a class one night, and I, I had, uh, reimbursed his tuition. And I went up, his name was Joe. I said, "Joe, I'm giving you your tuition back." He said, "Well, why is that?" And I said, "Because, um, I'm, I'm kicking you out of the Bible College." And he said, "Oh, I, I don't want to be kicked out of the Bible College." And I said, "Yeah, but you're causing problems in the, in the classes." He said, "What do you mean?" And I said, "Well, every time I talk about a miracle, walking on the water, have you done that? Uh, uh, you know, my shadow healing people, have you done that?" And he said, "Well, he said, I don't know if you know this. I, I just gave my life to Christ, and I don't know about all these stories. And I thought, if anybody has ever done any of these things, it would probably be the guy that, uh, is in charge of the Bible College." And when he said that, I just, I just felt such a deep sorrow in my heart. I thought, wow, this guy is really asking questions that I've been asking all my life. And I said, "So you're not trying to embarrass me?" And I'll never forget. He said, "No, but I can see why you're embarrassed." And, right? I thought, "Touche, pal." But I thought, you know, I gave him his check back. I said, "Well, Joe, you can stay in the classes, but just, just don't keep interrupting me. I just want you to know that I have never done a miracle." And he said, "Wow, really? You should have never done one?" He said, "Have you ever seen one?" I said, "Well, I've seen like videos and stuff, but I've never been there when a bona fide miracle happened, right?" And I told him, I said, "I've seen people that, like, everybody thinks a miracle happened, but there's no way to be sure. You know, somebody says, 'I was feeling bad a minute ago, I'm feeling better now.' And so we had a heart-to-heart conversation, and he was discouraged. And I thought, how sad that a brand new convert that really has sincere questions is discouraged by my testimony. And so I hugged him and I welcomed him back in. And, uh, we made an agreement that he wouldn't stop the class anymore. But I went that night to my father's house, who was the senior pastor of the church where this Bible College was. And my dad, I love my dad. He's a, he's a great guy, and I thank God for the way he raised me. But I got him out of bed. It was a night Bible College, it was late. Got him out of bed and I said, "Uh, he said, 'Can this wait till morning?'" I said, "No, it can't. Uh, I kicked Joe out of the Bible College." And Dad said, "Oh, you shouldn't have done that. He's a brand new Christian." I said, "Don't worry, I let him back in. But, uh, we had a heart-to-heart conversation about some things that I need to talk to you about." And he said, "Well, what's that?" And I said, "Well, have you ever seen a miracle?" He said, "Oh, son, I've seen lots of miracles." And I'm thinking to myself, I, I grew up in your house and I never remember any of those. So I said, you know, I said, "Well, like what?" And he said, "Well, your mom was healed of nephritis when you were a little boy." I said, "I know that, Dad. But it was some other guy that came from far, far away and prayed for her, and I thank God that she was healed. But what I'm asking is, if you ever did what the Bible shows everywhere, just lay your hands on somebody and they were healed?"
So he gave me a speech about how, uh, and I, I don't, I don't want to disregard my dad. He was a, a great guy in a lot of ways. But he basically said, "God heals in a lot of ways, and sometimes it takes a long time, and sometimes it's immediate." I said, "Okay, let's stop there. How many times in your life was it immediate?" And he said, "Well, not, not very often. But the point is, that is up to God, not up to us." I said, "Okay, but don't you think that for the sake of everybody watching, that at least part of the time it should be immediate?" And he did, you know, he did what most pastors would do. He talked about how Jesus prayed for the lepers and told them to go show themselves to the priest, and on the way they were healed. And I said, "Yeah, that's her, Dad. But even in that story, one of them came back and gave his testimony. So we all know that they were all healed." And so, um, so anyway, he, he talked to me and told me to get some rest and said, "You're being too hard on yourself and on me." And I said, "Well, I'm not done." Uh, he also asked about casting out demons, and I never remember having seen that ever in my entire life. And so my dad says, "Well, Jack Syler does it." And I said, "Dad, Jack Syler is a missionary in Borneo." He said, "Well, yeah, but, but he casts out demons." And I said, "Well, I'm talking about in America. Have you ever seen anybody cast out demons?" And I'll never forget him saying this, Janisha. He said, "I don't think there are many demons in America." And, you know, this has gone way back, a lot of years, and of course, society wasn't so depraved. But I said, "Oh, come on, Dad. How can there not be demons in America?" And he said, "Well, I think they're mainly in dark nations like India and Africa and the islands and places where they worship idols." And I said, "Well, what about Jerusalem, Israel? It was the capital city of the world in the times of Christ." And, uh, he said, "Oh, I hadn't really thought of that." I said, "They weren't superstitious, you know, put the line, the coconut stirred all around. They, they were just people, and they, they all had demons, and Jesus cast the demons out of them." So that really, Janisha, that was the, a watershed moment for me. And I told my dad that night, I said, "Dad, I, I love you. I thank God for, uh, your influence in my life. But I, I'm not going to do this all my life. I'm not going to keep teaching people things that happened 2,000 years ago that I have no answer for today. I just can't do it."
So, um, that, that really caused me to be on a quest and to, to see seriously, uh, level with myself. Something's not right, and I'm not going to keep playing like everything's okay. Everything is not okay. So, um, so that led to, um, I left that place where I was helping my dad. I came to where we are now, California. I came down here when I was 27. My wife was 25. We started pastoring this church that we still at. And when we came, God gave us a verse out of scripture, because I, I'd been in and around churches, but I'd never been a senior pastor. And so God spoke to us from Acts. There's a verse in Acts that said, "Jesus went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil." And when Cheryl and I got here, we just said, "This is what we're gonna do. We're gonna forget about all the history that, that we've had in different churches. We're gonna forget about all that. We're gonna forget about, you're supposed to have Sunday school on the weekends, you're supposed to have a Wednesday night prayer meeting. We're gonna forget about all that stuff and just read the red and try to do what Jesus did, and we'll see where that takes us." And, um, so we did that. And we, we, uh, wrote up on the wall, "Find a need and meet it. Find a hurt and heal it." And we did that because of that verse. "Jesus went about doing good and healing those who were oppressed by the devil." I remember telling the church, "I don't really know how to heal those who are oppressed by the devil, but the first part of the verse, we can do. We can go about doing good. We can help people, love people." And so we started all kinds of programs for runaway teens, and, and, uh, and I remember preaching, "God won't hold us accountable for what we can't do. He'll hold us accountable for what we could have done and chose not to." So we started all these ministries in the community, a bunch of them, and we were going in juvenile hall and into the jails, and feeding the hungry, and helping single moms, and doing all those things. And, and I had an experience at juvenile hall one day. And they had a, they had a little 14-year-old girl in a plexiglass box. And it, you know, we went in there all the time, and there was a common area, and then, you know, go to their cells and then lock them down for the night. But we used to go and do things in the common area. But this was right when you walked into the lobby, here's this plexiglass cage. And it was, uh, like 12 feet by 12 feet by 12 feet. It was a cube. One little 14-year-old girl sitting in there with, uh, she was sitting on a chair with a little table there, and there was an empty chair on the other side. And I said, "What, why do you have her in, locked in a cage?" And they smiled and said, "Would you like to interview her?" And I said, "Sure." They all started laughing. And, and one of them said, "Hey, they said to his boss, he said, 'Hey, boss, pastor wants to interview the girl in the cage.'" And so he came out and he says, "You, you really want us to let you in there?" And I said, "Well, yeah, she doesn't have any weapons or anything, right?" They said, "No." And so the co said, "Well, let, let them in." So they opened the cage and locked it behind me. And I went and I sat down across from this little 14-year-old girl. And I'm a loving guy. I, I've always been a loving guy. I hug people and, you know, tell them I love them, stuff. So I just tried to befriend her. I said, I said, "Hello, sweetheart. My name's Dave." And she said, "I don't give a damn what your name is, and I'm not your sweetheart." I thought, "Wow, just, you know, I could be home watching TV right now. I'm down here trying to, trying to help you." But anyway, I said, "Well, okay, uh, I'm sorry. It just deterred he." And she said, "Not to me." I said, "Okay, well, um, what should I call you?" She said, she said, "It's none of your business what my name is." And I said, "Well, um, can I ask why you, you're in this cage?" She said, "Oh, they think I'm dangerous." And I said, "Okay, why do they think you're dangerous?" She said, "Oh, probably a lot of reasons." And I said, "What are you in juvenile hall for?" She said, "I tried to kill my mother." And she's a 14-year-old girl. And I just thought, "How sad." So I said, "I'm sorry to hear that." Uh, I said, "Why did you hate your mother?" She said, "I didn't hate her." I said, "You, you tried to kill your mother and you didn't hate her?" She said, "No, I didn't hate her at all." I said, "Well, why would you try to kill her?" And she said, "To get her power." And I said, "I don't understand that." She said, "No, you wouldn't." She said, "I'm, uh, I'm a Satanist, and I'm in a coven, and my mom was trying to get out of the coven. And so my boyfriend and I did a Judas ritual." I said, "What's that?" She said, "It's a ritual of betrayal. Judas betrayed Christ. Uh, she said, it's one of the very highest rituals you can do because it's, it's based on the betrayal of Christ." And I said, "So you, you betrayed her? How'd you do that?" She said, "Well, we told her that we were going to do a ritual up in the foothills, and, uh, we wanted her to come do it with us. So when we got up there, uh, we took baseball bats and we beat her head in and threw her in the river. And she said, 'I still don't understand how she lived. We were both sure she was dead, but somehow or another she lived.' And, so she said, 'But, but I got caught. And so now I'm looking at all this time for attempted murder.'" I thought, "Man, this is such a sad story." But even though she told me that, she wasn't friendly at all. She was, I know now, she was filled with demons, and because of that, filled with hatred. But, uh, I just didn't know what to talk about with this, this hateful, uh, teenage girl that was so filled with contempt and murder. So I thought, "Well, I've gone as far as I can go here." So, uh, I said, "Well, um, I come in here every week, and if I can do anything to help you, that's why we come. So let me know if there's anything I can do." So she, she leaned down so that the cameras couldn't see what she was saying to me, and she says, "I need blood." And honestly, Janisha, I, I had no idea. I was a young guy, was, you know, uh, all these years ago. And I thought, "Oh, she thinks I'm a doctor." So I said, "Well, um, I'm, I'm not a doctor. I'm a pastor." She said, "Yeah, and I'm not anemic. I'm a vampire." And I said, "What?" She said, "I don't need a doctor. I need blood. I'm addicted to it." And I, I was just, I mean, I was as close as you look right now. I mean, she was just right there. We were locked in a cage. And I said, I said, "What do you mean you're a vampire?" She said, "I'm addicted to human blood. That's what I mean." And I said, "That's why they have you locked in here? As you're, you're trying to suck blood out of the other kids?" She said, "Yeah." And suddenly I thought, "Better of being in there about 18 inches away from her." And I said, I said, "Where do you usually get blood?" And she went like this. She tapped her jugular vein. And, uh, so I, I just knocked on the glass and said, "I need out." They were all laughing because they, they knew that she was trying to get me to let her drink blood, either out of my neck or out of my wrist. So they let me out. And it shook me so bad that I, I didn't go to see the kids that night. I just turned around, went home, and I told my wife about it. My wife, very, very, very compassionate. And so she said, "Oh, that poor little girl. Let's pray for her." And I kind of felt like, "Poor little girl? I was the victim there. I was the vampire." But anyway, my wife is wonderful. She said, "Let's pray for her. Can you imagine what kind of life she must have lived to be addicted to human blood when she's 14?" So that was a very memorable experience.
So after that, Janisha, remember when I asked my dad if he knew anybody that cast out demons? And he said, "Jack Syler." Well, Jack Syler was a missionary from Borneo, and he always had wild stories of the power of God and the power of the devil, and, you know, all the things that happened in missions. And so my dad had had a heart attack and went to be with Jesus. And we were pastoring here in Yuba City. Uh, and, and lo and behold, this guy calls, Jack Syler. He says, "David, you remember me? I, I was your father's friend." And I said, "Yeah, I remember. You're the guy that always brought the big snake skins from Borneo and told wild stories of witches." And he said, "Yeah." Well, he said, "God spoke to me, told me that I was supposed to be your spiritual father." And I said, "Oh, well, thank you, Jack." He said, "Oh, don't thank me. He says, you don't even know what that means yet, but, but, uh, you'll know when the time comes." And I thought, "That is a very strange call." So anyway, um, wasn't long after that, he called back and, uh, he said, "David, this is Jack again. God told me to give you a gift and write a message for you in it." And I said, "Oh, well, thank you." He said, "Oh, don't thank me yet. You don't know what that means." But anyway, he said, uh, I said, "Are you going to send it in the mail?" He said, "No, I need to be there face to face." So he came to visit our church that next weekend. And he brought with him a book. And I keep it over here. Hang on a second, I'll grab it. Uh, let's see. He brought, he brought with him this book. And, and you, you know, I pastor best name. I went and bought that book, and I just finished reading it like a few weeks ago. I was like, "Oh my gosh, exactly, exactly." So he brought me this book. And I looked at it. I grew up as a cowboy. I grew up on a ranch in Idaho. And, right? Nobody, nobody in that part of the world reads books like this, right? They're just cowboys. And so I looked at it. I said, "Gee, Jack, that's, that looks weird." And he put his hands on my shoulders, looked at me real close. He said, "David, the world is much weirder than you've ever imagined." And I said, "Really?" He said, "Oh, yeah. He said, 'God told me to buy this book and give it to you, and I wrote something in it. So open it and read it.'" So I did. I opened it, and it's this message. You probably can't read it from there. But this was his message. And it says, "Dear Dave and Cheryl, our dear friend who we love in Christ. May this true account stir you to take your rightful place in the front lines of spiritual warfare more than ever. Love, Jack and Ann." This was in June of 1989. And so he told me to, to read the book. And I, I thought to myself, "Well, I'll read it, but it doesn't look like my kind of a book." But anyway, he had taken time to leave the mission field and bring the book and everything. So, so when he left, I tried to read it. Well, you just read it, right? And I was pastoring, and I was busy anyway. So I looked at that book and I thought, "I don't know if this is true or not, but even if it is, I don't want to be involved in it." It was just all kind of gory rituals and terrible things that they were doing to, to women. I just, I don't want to be a part of that. So anyway, the long and short of it is, for eight years, he tried to get me to read that book, and for eight years, I made excuses for why I couldn't read the book.
So, right, uh, now it was 19, uh, 97. And he told me, he called me from Chile. He was an international missionary. Called me from Chile. Said, "David, this is Jack. He said, 'I know you haven't read that book because God told me.' And he said, 'I'm going to be there this weekend.'" And I didn't want him to come because I knew he was just going to give me a hard time for not reading the book. So I said, "Oh, no, you don't have to come." He said, "I don't take my orders from you, David. I take them from God. I'll see you this weekend." I thought, "Oh, brother." So he came. And this is what he said. He said, "You've had eight years to prepare yourself, and you've wasted all that time. And so now you're about to be face to face with the devil, and you're not ready for it." And I said, "Jack, what, I, I don't want, I don't want to be face to face with the devil." The church, by the way, had grown from 70 to 1500. So I was thinking, "We're doing fine here." So I, I said, "I, I don't want to be face to face with the devil." He said, "That's your problem, David. Is Jesus your savior? But he's not your Lord." And I felt bad, you know, when he said that. I said, "Jack, how can you say that? We, we're building a church here. We're loving people, helping people." He said, "That's not what makes Jesus your Lord. What makes Jesus your Lord is you do what he asks you to do. That makes him your Lord. So he's your savior, and you appreciate that, and you're telling other people about it, but you still don't do what he asked you to do." And I said, "Well, Jack, um, you want me to read this book. I don't feel like I should read it. And now you give me a hard time about disobeying God." He said, "David, uh, he said, 'Do you or do you not think that I'm a prophet of God?'" And I knew this guy has had an epic career. And my dad, you know, always talked about him being a prophet of God. I said, "Well, I think you probably are, Jack. But, um, but I'm just telling you as a prophet of God, I think you missed it on me. I don't think I'm your huckleberry to, to do what's in that book. And, and I don't want to. And why would God make me do that?" And he said, "What, son? No wonder God wanted me to be a spiritual father to you. You don't understand anything about God. He created you. He knows exactly what you were made for. You don't, you think you do, but God knows exactly what you were made for. And so he has a plan for you. If you don't cooperate with it, it will go poorly for you. If you do cooperate with it, you'll be more fulfilled than you could ever imagine." So anyway, he told me, "You have one week before you're face to face with the devil." And, and so I, I said, "Is there any way around it?" He said, "Nope. No way around it." He said, "Read the Book of Jonah. If God has a plan for you, he's going to get you there the easy way or the hard way, but he's going to get you there."
So, so anyway, uh, a week later, when we took a week off, we fasted, we prayed. A week later, a little lady came into our church. She looked like a homeless, uh, person. And she had, she had, uh, braces on her face. Looked like she'd been in a really bad car wreck. She came in, and we had an altar call, and she prayed to receive Christ. Though she never would close her eyes. I could tell she was very fearful. So anyway, I, I didn't know who she was. But I just felt drawn to her by the Holy Spirit. So I gave her one of my business cards with my cell phone on it. And I said, "If you need anything, call this cell phone number." So anyway, uh, she, uh, it was actually my church, church office number, is what it was. So anyway, uh, the next day, which was a Monday, that phone rang, and it was this lady. And she said, uh, she said, "Please come help me. Witches are trying to kill me, and I really need your help, and I need it right now."
So, um, so I went over to where she said she was, and she was hiding in the bushes. And she ran out, jumped in our car. And she, she said, "I don't care where you take me, uh, just get me away from here because, uh, I'm in danger, and witches are trying to kill me." So anyway, uh, we took her to the church. We prayed for her. Uh, she, she, we could tell she didn't understand anything about Christianity. But when, when we prayed, she said, "Wow, you, you people have powerful, uh, uh, what did she say? Spiritual moxie or something like that." And we said, "Well, that's the power of the Holy Spirit." But anyway, after we prayed for a while, we said, "Where can we take you?" She said, "Anywhere. I, I don't, I don't have a home." And I said, "Well, where were you last night?" She said, "Well, I was in a motel, but they found me, and they're trying to kill me." "Who, who's trying to kill you?" She said, "Witches. I, I had, I had a bad experience with the witches' coven. Now they're trying to kill me." So, uh, my wife is very, very compassionate, and also spirit-led. So she said, "Well, if you don't have a home, come, come stay with us." So we moved her into our, um, our home, an upstairs, uh, bedroom. And we had three young boys at the time. They were, uh, 10, I think they were 10, 12, and 1. But anyway, that night at 2:00, all hell broke loose. And I'm telling you, just God-awful screams and thumping. And she came rolling head first down the stairs, up against the wall, and screaming. It, it was, yeah, it was wild. So we were trying to get the lights on and pull my Levi's on. And she fought right up against our bedroom door. So when we opened it, she was batting at something and screaming, "Leave me alone, Knack! You can't have me! I'm not yours anymore!" And it was quite bizarre. And we didn't have any experience in casting out demons, but it was obvious that she was fighting some kind of an invisible foe that was hurting her and had thrown her down the stairs and was choking her. She was, she was trying to get something off her neck, and it was bizarre. And we, we just started, we just started praying, "Jesus, help her." Uh, we rebuked the devil, you know, any verse that we could think of. We were just, we, we were just asking God for help. Finally, it was gone. And, uh, by that time, our, our sons had gathered around us. Our youngest son actually started praying for her before we made it out the bedroom door. But, finally, it was gone. And we looked at each other and blinked a few times, like, "What the heck happened?" And she said, kind of casually, she said, "Oh, thank you for your help." And I said, "Well, you're welcome. But who's Knack?" She said, "It was that, it was that demon spirit." And I said, "Could you see it?" She said, "Of course. Couldn't you?" We said, "No, we couldn't see it." And she said, "Are all of you blind?" And I said, "Well, no, but it was invisible." She said, "Well, that's what I mean. But you're blind to the spirit world, right?" We, we all had to say, "Well, yeah, I guess so. You could see it, and we couldn't." But anyway, that's how, uh, uh, a lady that was going by the name of Ramona Jarnigan came into our home. And, so then we all went to bed. And I told my wife, I said, "I, I don't buy it that she's dabbled in witchcraft. That, she knew the name of that spirit, and she knew it was a murder spirit, and that's not true." So, you know, we would question her every once in a while. She'd make up excuses and just maintain that she dabbled in witchcraft. But every night at 2:00, uh, like just like clockwork, the clock struck 2:00, that's the witching hour. And demons would attack her every night during the witching hour, which is from 2:00 to 3:00 a.m. And for those of you that may be listening, don't understand the witching hour. The way the occult world works is you pay for things in blood. And blood is money in the spirit realm. And so if you want a spirit to do something for you, uh, they'll make an offer in blood. To do a little haunting of some kind, might be the blood of a chicken. But if you want something big to happen, it, it would have to be the blood of either a large mammal or preferably a human being. So they have lots and lots and lots of blood rituals. And, and then they have money in their account, so to speak, to tell spirits like Knack, a murder spirit, "Go kill Ramona." And, and it, if that spirit can, it will, because it's paid to do so. So anyway, we didn't know all those things, which we've since learned. And so it began to happen every night. And, uh, a breaking point when we learned, uh, out, when we learned about who actually was in our house with us. We had been up all night fighting against a, a spirit that was called PIAA. And she had told us, this is a very powerful spirit, because we'd pray, and then she'd come conscious again, and we'd have some interactions. And she had told us, uh, she said, "This is the spirit of the PIAA bird, which is the power demon for the Elan Indian tribe, that the state of Illinois is named after." So we, we fought all night and rebuked the thing. And, uh, you can't always tell immediately when they leave. Sometimes they'll just quit fighting and be very quiet and hope that everybody goes to bed and they can still stay there. We call it going down. And spirits up there animating them. All of a sudden, it's very quiet. And anyway, we didn't know any of that stuff at the time. But the problem is, I was supposed to be the only speaker at a, uh, church, a couple of churches were coming together for a family camp. And I tried to get out of it, and they, they didn't want that to happen. So, so in desperation, I just, uh, said, "Well, if we come to do the camp, uh, I want you to give us two cabins on the very outskirts of the camp, and we're going to bring, uh, some guests." So we headed there with Cheryl and I, and, with, uh, who we thought was Ramona, along with Cheryl's little sister and her husband. And, along the way, we, this PIAA spirit kept coming up. We'd have to pull the van off the side of the highway and rebuke the devil and fight with it. And I was exhausted. Everybody was exhausted. And we, we weren't sure if it had left or not. But anyway, I was way late to make it to this camp to speak. And so, uh, I, I told everybody, "We're headed into Nevada. They generally don't give speeding tickets." And, and I don't know if that's still true, but anyway, at the time, and we're, we're way behind schedule, so I'm going to drive as fast as this Chevy van will drive and try to make up for the time that we wasted along the side of the highway." So I was driving over 100 miles an hour. And I saw a sign that said, "The Winnemucca Indian Nation, 10 miles." When I did, the Holy Spirit just gave me one of those warnings, like, "Okay." And I thought, "Surely this doesn't have to do with this Indian spirit." But anyway, everybody seemed like they were sound asleep. And Ramona, that we were calling her at the time, she was like nearly unconscious, she was so tired. And so I just thought, "I'm just going to go for it." As soon as we hit the property line to go into the Winnemucca Indian Nation, all the doors came open on the van, and the seat belts all unlocked. And something was trying to throw her out of the car onto the highway. And she, she's a little thing. And so I reached over, grabbed her arm on the way out, and was keeping her from, you know, from her feet from, uh, being torn up on the highway. I was just holding her like this, and trying to stop the van. And things were flying out of the van, and we were swerving. It was wild. But we got it stopped. And as soon as I, I pulled her in, she reached under my seat with her other hand and got my gun. I had a nine-millimeter Crowning High Power. And I frankly forgot it was under there, but I just carried it for self-defense. But, but that demon knew it was there. Pulled that thing out. Now I'm trying to keep it from shooting me or somebody else. But when, when we got the van stopped, and I got the gun away from her, I asked the spirit, "Are, are you the PIAA?" He says, "No, I'm the, the power demon for the Winnemucca Indian Nation." And I said, "Well, why did you go into Ramona?" And I'll never forget it. He said, "You humans, you're so stupid. You don't even know how the spirit world works. He said, 'She is not who you think she is. For one thing, I know who she is. You don't know who she is. She's marked with the blood of a virgin sacrifice. And I've been watching you for many, many miles come in my direction. And because of the blood of a virgin sacrifice, I have the right to kill her if I want. And I want to kill.'" And so all this is new, right? She's been telling us all along she dabbled in witchcraft. Now he's saying she's marked. And I've seen it for, uh, for hundreds of miles. And so, so I, I said to this spirit, I said, "Well, uh, I think it's probably true that if you had the power to kill her, she would be dead right now." He said, "Oh, that's not true. I have the power to kill her." I said, "Well, you tried to kill her. You tried to kill her by throwing her out of the van. You tried to, uh, use my gun. And you didn't kill any. So I said, I think that was what we would call an epic fail. You, you tried, and you didn't get. So I said, I don't know much about this, but if you are the power spirit for this nation, then I think that means every demon spirit on this Indian Nation just saw you fail. And so I said, since you can't kill her, or you would have already killed her, we can drag this out for hours, and us rebuking you, and you, you know, cussing at us, and the stuff that had been going on every night. We can drag this out, and eventually you will lose. And every demon on this reservation will see you lose to a rookie." I knew I was a rookie. And, and the spirit was just really quiet. And I said, "Or you can just leave her, and I'll take her off your reservation, and I won't bring her back." And the spirit said, "You promise you'll never bring her back?" I said, "I promise. I'll never bring her back." He said, "You know, if you bring her back, I have a right to kill her." I said, "I, I hear you saying that, but it's really a moot point because I'm not going to bring her back." And so he said, this spirit said, "Deal's a deal." And all of a sudden, he was gone. Wow. Wow. That was wild. Wow.
So now, now she comes back conscious. And, and she looked at me. She said, "You're angry." I said, "Yeah, I am." She said, "Why?" I said, "I'm not going to tell you why until we get off this Indian reservation. But a spirit just about killed everybody in the van. And so we got some talking to do." So we packed up, collected the stuff from the highway, and scooted on down, uh, out of the, uh, one of my Indian, uh, Nation. And as soon as we got out, I pulled over. I said, "Get your stuff and get out of the van." She's crying. She said, "Are you going to leave me here?" I said, "I haven't decided yet. But I have decided this, that you've been lying to us. You know, you've been lying to us. And the truth sets you free. So I brought you into our home, and we've been praying for you every night. And I don't really think I have to prove that we love you and we care about you. We, we've been up every night trying to help you. But you've been lying to us. And the truth sets us free. But Satan is the father of lies, and you're yielding to him. So I'm going to give you one chance to tell me who you actually are. And I don't want to find out later that you held anything back. I want to know everything. And if you're honest, we'll put you back in the van and go on down the highway and help you. The day I find out that you were dishonest is the day that you're out of our family. Because I'm not trying to be a hardness, but I'm not going to forfeit the life of my wife or children or my own life because you're lying, right?" And so she's just crying profusely now. And she said, "If I tell the truth, do you promise you won't kick me out of your family?" And I said, "Yeah." She said, "No matter how bad it is?" I said, "No matter how bad it is. If you'll tell the truth, we'll, we'll fight, uh, to hell and back to help you." So she started with, "Well, my name is not Ramona." I said, "Okay, that's a good start. What is your name?" She said, "Ray Ray." I said, "I've never heard a name like that before." I said, "Is it Indian?" She said, "No, it's Egyptian. It's the, it's the sun god." And I, I said, "Egyptian?" She said, "Yeah. She said, um, my father is Anton LaVey." And I was shocked because I knew who that was. Had no experience with him, but I knew who it was. And I said, "The bald guy that has the big snake he carries around?" And she said, "Well, yeah, it's the, but that's not, that's not a real snake. It's a spirit named Leviathan, and it can transmogrify into a snake or change into, uh, a woman. It's a spirit. It's not a real animal." So that kind of like, uh, is that kind of like on, on Harry Potter?" "It's exactly like, exactly like Harry Potter. That snake slithers along beside him until it wants to come up into him and can change. It's exactly like Harry Potter." So anyway, she said, "I was conceived in a Satanic ritual. There was a power convergence between the Church of Satan and the Any Indian Nation. They both had really powerful, uh, evil spirits and evil influence. And so they thought they'd do a ritual together to combine Luciferian black."
magic with Indian black magic and come up with something even stronger. She said I was conceived in that ritual and, uh, I was dedicated to be the Bride of Satan. And so she said, um, I've been through a whole lifetime of Satanic ritual abuse. And, uh, 7 years ago, they began the rituals of defilement, which are talked about in this book. And she said, I've been through six of the seven rituals. And this Halloween, I'm slated to be the Bride of Satan. And the whole idea is to defile a woman to the point that she can actually give birth to Satan's seed, which is the Antichrist, uh, the devil incarnate.
So she said, I'm not going to let that happen. I'll kill myself before I'll be, uh, the mother of the Antichrist. But she said, uh, that's why I left the coven and, uh, that's why they're after me. And I said, okay, anything else? Are you ready for this? I said, anything else? She said, well, yeah. She said, I lied about the car accident. I was never in an accident. I said, well, what happened to you? She said, well, my daughter and her boyfriend tried to beat me to death with bats, and they, they thought I was dead and threw me in the river. And angels of God came and rescued me. Is that amazing, girl? Oh, yes. Oh, my gosh.
And so I'm, I'm thinking, how many 14-year-old girls try to beat their mother to death with a bat? Right? So, right. I said, uh, do does your daughter happen to be a vampire? She said, yeah. How did you know? I said, well, I got locked into a cage with her, uh, in juvenile hall. And she said, yeah, that's my daughter. And she said, pray for her. She, uh, she's facing prison time for attempted murder. But she said, it's all my fault, you know. She's, she was in the coven because I was in the coven. And anyway, so we had a talk. She said, I would like to, uh, would you let me change my name and and would you let me have your name as an adopted daughter? And she's only two days younger than my wife. But I said, yeah, yeah. You know, everybody deserves a chance. That little girl didn't have a chance. She was conceived in a Satanic ritual.
And so, right. She said, I would like to be named Deborah Joy Bryan. And it's important that we make it a legal name because of the implications in the spirit world. So we did. We went down and paid to have her name changed to Deborah Joy Bryan. And, uh, I, I knew this was all happening by the side of the road. I said, you've been thinking about this for a while. She said, I've been thinking about this since the day I moved into your house. But she said, Deborah was the warrior queen of the Old Testament, and Joy is the promise of God for those who've lived in sorrow. I'll give you joy for mourning. And she said, Bryan means Overcomer. And she said, I'm gonna keep that name the rest of my life, even if I get married.
So she's married. She's been married for, you know, like, I think 16 years now, maybe 17 years. But she still goes by Deborah Joy Bryan. And, uh, she married a man that, uh, went through, uh, one of our, uh, rehabs. And, uh, his name's Billy. They're wonderful. I love them very much. And, um, since she got saved, her three children, she had, um, she had an older daughter, a son, and a younger daughter. The younger daughter, of course, is the one that had tried to kill her. But anyway, uh, they've all been saved. The oldest girl, she died during the Coronavirus. But the other two are still serving God. And it's an amazing, amazing story of how God rescued her.
But the, what happened after that, that, uh, day by the side of the road, she was always honest with us, and we were able to help her renounce and, um, uh, and to rebuke out of her life, uh, evil spirit after evil spirit. It was just, it was a constant thing for months, right? It, it went from, uh, May, the end of May, all the way to October, the end of October, which was when she was supposed to be the Bride of Satan. And, uh, it's a, it's a long story, but just to say, uh, it was, it was the night that she was supposed to be the Bride of Satan that Anton La died by the judgment of God. She was set free. And really, the Church of Satan fell to hell in a handbasket after that. So it's a really, really exciting story.
And, um, you, I, I see we've been talking, I've been talking for about an hour. But anyway, you can find that story in a book that I wrote. It's called The Serpent and the Savior. And it tells about the amazing supernatural event that happened in those months from the time that that, uh, Deborah Joy, that's what we call her now as DJ, but from the time she got her new name, Deborah Joy Bryan, uh, and we found out who she really was, uh, from the to the time that Anton died on Halloween Eve of 1997. Those were very, very busy months of extreme spiritual warfare. And so we learned a great deal. And it's a fascinating story. I've never had anybody, uh, read it and and not feel like, uh, they were really happy to have read it and to know the story. Uh, it's a great story, uh, of the amazing power of God to redeem. And again, it's called The Serpent and the Savior, written by me, David ELC. Is my middle name, David ELCA Bryan. And you can get it, uh, at our website, which is churchgladtidings.com, at the the store. But it's a very, very exciting, uh, story. It's filled with, um, amazing disclosures of spiritual warfare which happened, you know, constantly for those months between, um, the end of May and the end of October. So what do you think of all that, Janisha?
Okay, so the first question I have is, what she mentioned about having to, like, you having to make her name legal because of the implications in the spirit realm. Yeah. So can you elaborate on that? Like, cuz that's making, because I always tell my husband that, like, names are important because in the Bible, anytime they named someone, it had a meaning to it. Exactly. Like, I don't want to just, our kids anything, like I wanted to have a meaning to it, right? Names are really, really important. And, um, the name, I mean, think of the name of Jesus, the power in the name, it's huge. But anyway, remember this, Janisha, the spirit realm operates on cosmic law. There's nothing that's haphazard or circumstantial. It's always on cosmic law. And so when you're casting out demons, uh, you have to discover what right they have against that person, and you have to deal with that. Or one of two things happens. Either they refuse to go out, they'll just say, how about you go to hell? I'm not going anywhere, right? Which happens. Or else, or else they allow you to cast them out, knowing that they can come back as soon as the person leaves, you know, the prayer appointment, because they know they have a right to come back. Sometimes demons, they don't want to fight. They just, they just leave. And then as soon as the person leaves a prayer appointment, they come back in because they have the right to be there. So it's all about legal right. And so you're really wasting your time if you don't find the legal right. What right does that evil spirit have against this person? Might be generational issues. And, uh, of course, uh, legal identification is huge. So if she's still legally as Ray Ray LA, right, then all of those generational curses belong to her. It's a legal time, right? And so that actually happened, um, that on Halloween Eve, when Anton died, that that snake spirit, Leviathan, came and manifested through Deborah Joy. Your eyes turned red and serpentine, you know, long ways, really creepy stuff. But that spirit, um, the first thing it said is it called me a murderer. And I said, who are you? And it said, I'm Leviathan, the Black Pope was his nickname. He said, I'm Leviathan, the Black Pope's power spirit. And, and you killed him. And, um, so anyway, uh, the, that confrontation with that very powerful spirit didn't last for, because I said, what right do you have against Deborah Joy? And he said, I have a birthright against her because she is his flesh and blood, and she carries his name. And I said, no, actually, she doesn't carry his name. Her name is, uh, Deborah Joy Bryan. It's legal in heaven and earth and under the earth. And, uh, the, the bloodline of Anton was broken by the bloodline of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world. And you know what that spirit did? It was a very powerful spirit, and it didn't even argue. It didn't even argue. I said, go to Zena or Carla. And, and it just instantly left. And I was shocked because I knew it was a very powerful spirit, but it knew that its right against Deborah Joy was broken. She had a different lineage through, uh, being a child of God. She had a different lineage. She had a different legal name. And so it just left.
That is so, but she, that is so powerful. Like, I'm thinking about when I had read the book, he set the captives free. The one, one of the things that really stuck out to me was it was one part where Dr. Brown was talking about how God had showed her a vision of demons like circling around, um, I forgot her name, Emily, Emma, I forgot her name. What was her name? Rebecca. And, uh, what was her name? It's been a while. Elaine. Elaine. Okay, yes. And she said that she could see in the vision, God showed her the demons were like circling around her, trying to find the open door to manifest in her. I was like, what? Yeah. I was like, I never even thought about it like that. Yeah, yeah.
Well, uh, we obviously have learned an awful lot, uh, since 1997. But, uh, we have learned that things that happen spiritually are not a coincidence. That's why you can be in a room and a demon can attack the person on the top bunk and has to leave you alone because you're covered and the person on the top bunk isn't. And so, uh, the Bible word for that, uh, Janisha, is, uh, topos. T-o-p-o-s. And it means a right to, um, occupy or operate. And so that's what spirits look for is the right. And, uh, if, if they have a right, you know, they're, they're sentient beings, which means they, they are at one place at one time and they have to look around and make decisions, whatnot. So just because you have a right, uh, or let me say it this way, just because they have a right against against you doesn't mean necessarily that they will find you and take advantage of you. But the chances are pretty high at some point. So the, that's why, for instance, that that spirit that was the power spirit of the Winamaka Indian Nation, uh, it saw the mark on her of the virgin sacrifice, which by the way, Anton La had put her little hands around a dagger and sacrificed her baby sister. So obviously that was the doing of Anton La, but she was involved in it as a little girl. But that spirit, that's that's why he said to me, I have a right to kill her because she's marked by the blood of the virgin sacrifice. And so if I want to kill her, uh, who so shed a man's blood, um, his blood will be shed. So anyway, uh, it, yeah, it all comes down to topos, a right to operate against somebody. And to get them out and keep them out, you, you have to ask God to help you understand where that right was given and pray against it. You, anything that hell can do, you can undo. So with with with, uh, Deborah Joy, for instance, uh, we, all those months that she was going through deliverance, we were renouncing rituals that she'd been involved in, things that she had done, things that were done to her. But it was a process of renouncing, renouncing, renouncing. And you basically, um, you repent, which means stop doing the things that make you vulnerable. You repent, you renounce, that means to, uh, confess that you don't want to be, uh, involved in that in any way anymore. And then you can rebuke the spirit. So we, we call that the three Rs. Deliverance is, uh, repent, renounce, rebuke. So anyway, that's what it all comes down to. Any other questions?
Um, okay, so I think this is probably going to be probably one of my last. When, when you are entering into a deliverance session, whether it's a private or maybe it's like at church, like how did you get to the, well, first of all, how did you get to the point to where you got the courage to even lay hands? Cuz there are some people that are afraid to just try it, just lay hands. Yeah.
Well, uh, I, I think most people have to just venture a try. I remember, of course, you know, I, I got the package delivered it up against my bedroom door. It's the middle of the night and it's like, something's killing this one, and so we just gotta try, right? Right. But the amazing thing is when you try in Jesus name and it works, it has an amazing impact on you. That's why Jesus told, you know, he didn't go with them when he sent them out to cast out demons. He sent them out, right? And he said, you go out there and you try this. And the Bible says they came back and they were amazed, uh, and they said, Jesus, demons are subject to us when we use your name. Now, Jesus wasn't amazed. He knew that would happen. But what happened for them is they went out and tried it. And when it worked, it, their, it really boosted their courage, right? Uh, I think, I think there's some sense that you'll never have courage unless you try it. And so you just, before courage comes, comes faith. I'm just going to trust God here and try this. And then when you see that demons are subject to you in Jesus name, then that really builds the faith, right? And of course, when you've done it for 30 years like we have, yeah, like, uh, people ask me about courage. Well, it doesn't really take that much courage anymore. I, I know that we're covered by the blood of Jesus. I know that they're subject to the blood of Jesus. And I know that demons, uh, tremble at the name of Jesus. And if you rebuke the devil, he must flee from you. So anyway, you know, it's just a process, like almost anything else in our spiritual lives, right?
Oh, that is so good. I just want to thank you so much because I know it's probably getting late there. But I thank you so much for joining me. I thank you for shedding light on spiritual warfare because this is like, even in just this, like, it's a lot to unpack, but it's so good. And I, I am so thankful, seriously, that you joined me because I was surprised that you even responded back when I emailed you.
No, I'm glad to meet you. Glad to be here with you. Where do you live? Uh, what town do you live in or city? I actually live in, uh, I'm in Tennessee. I live in Memphis, Tennessee. Okay. Yeah. So we're way out here in, uh, Yuba City, California. But, uh, it's really great to meet you and I thank God for what you're doing and I'm glad that we're friends now. Yay. Yes.
Could you please, Pastor Day, please bless us with a prayer before we get off of here?
Sure. So Father, first of all, we thank you that you are so loving and kind. Thank you for the amazing, uh, story of Deborah Joy and how you intervened in her life, uh, and you, you warded off all of the forces of hell to rescue her and not only her but her children and her grandchildren. What a wonderful story of your amazing love. Thank you, Lord, that you can use any of us. Thank you, Lord, that you used me, uh, because I knew nothing about what we were supposed to do or not do. Uh, but Lord, you can use any of us. You, you used the disciples. They had no experience and you sent them out and they came back, uh, with faith and they came back with excitement because of the power of your name. And so I pray for everyone listening that you would remind them of that. Teach them the power of the name that's above every name. And, uh, pray, Lord, that you'd raise up a whole army of spiritual warriors to follow Jesus in destroying the work of the devil. Thank you for this time that we could be together. We pray, Lord Jesus, that you would, uh, just infuse us with faith that is sufficient to the tasks of the day, in this world that seems to be spinning out of control. But thank you, Lord, that you have overcome the world and thank you that you have given us power over all the power of the devil. And we thank you in Jesus name. Amen.
Amen. Thank you so much for your time. You have a good evening.
Okay, very, very good to meet you. God bless you.
You too. Bye.
