On a dark night, with a new moon sky, thunder rumbled, and lightning flashed intermittently. Showers of rain fell, and the entire village slept soundly, except for the echo of Nanak's songs, sung late into the night. Nanak's mother was worried. It was past midnight, nearing 3:00 AM. The lamp in Nanak's room was lit, and the sound of singing could be heard now and then. Nanak's mother knocked on his door and said, "Son, go to sleep now. The night is almost over."

Nanak fell silent. Just then, in the darkness of the night, a cuckoo cried out loudly, "Piyu!" Nanak said, "Listen, Mother, the cuckoo hasn't fallen silent yet. It is calling for its beloved. So how can I remain silent? I have a competition with this cuckoo. As long as it sings and calls, I too will call. And its beloved is very close. My beloved is very far. If I sing for lifetimes, only then can I reach Him." The count of night and day could not be kept. Nanak began to sing again. Nanak found the Divine through singing. Nanak's path is paved with songs. Therefore, Nanak's quest is very different.

It is important to understand the first thing: Nanak did not practice yoga, penance, or meditation. Nanak only sang, and by singing, he attained. But he sang with such complete life force that the song itself became meditation, the song became yoga, the song became penance. Whenever one performs any act with complete surrender, that act becomes the path. Even if you meditate incompletely, you will not reach. If you sing even one song with complete heart, with all your totality, or even dance, you will reach. It is not the question of what you do, but whether you do it with complete totality or incompletely. This is the question. On the path to the Divine, Nanak's songs and flowers are the footprints. Therefore, whatever he said, he said through singing. His path is very sweet, full of joy. Yesterday, we were talking about Kabir. The intoxicated one drank the intoxicating drink without weighing it. Nanak is the one who drank the intoxicating drink without weighing it and then sang all his life. These songs are not of an ordinary singer; these songs are from one who has known. In these songs is the fragrance of truth, in these songs is the reflection of the Divine.

The second thing, regarding the night of birth, which I spoke of, Nanak would have been about 16 or 17 years old when Ji was born. At that time, his age was 36 years, 6 months, and 15 days. The night of the event I mentioned, they were seekers and were in search of the beloved. The call of the beloved was ongoing. Sometimes the cuckoo was repeating its call, and Jap Ji had not yet been composed. When Jap Ji was born, it was his first proclamation after the union. The cuckoo found its beloved, its repetitive call ceased, and union occurred. The first proclamation from that union is Jap Ji. Therefore, the value of Jap Ji in Nanak's words is paramount. Jap Ji is the freshest news from that realm. After returning from there, the first thing he said was this. The first words that were formed upon returning from that world to this world are Jap Ji. That event also needs to be understood.

Sitting by the river on a dark night with his companion and servant Mardana, they were by the riverbank. Suddenly, he took off his clothes. Without saying anything, he entered the river. Mardana kept asking, "What are you doing? The night is cold, dark." He went far into the river. Mardana followed him. Nanak took a dip. Mardana thought he would come out in a moment or two. But he did not come out. Mardana waited for 10-5 minutes. Then he started searching, wondering where he had gotten lost. Then he started shouting. Then he ran along the bank, asking, "Where are you? Speak, give a voice!" It seemed to him that a voice was coming from every wave of the river, saying, "Be patient. Be patient." But there was no news of Nanak. He ran to the village, woke people up in the middle of the night, and a crowd gathered. Everyone loved Nanak. Everyone saw the possibility of something happening in Nanak. In his presence, everyone felt a fragrance, like a flower not yet bloomed but giving the fragrance of a bud. The entire village began to cry. The crowd gathered, and the entire river was searched from one end to the other. People ran and searched, but no trace was found. Three days passed. People assumed that some animal had eaten Nanak, he had drowned, been swept away, or gotten trapped in a ditch or pit. They assumed he had died. There was weeping and mourning. His family also understood that there was no hope of his return. And on the third night, Nanak suddenly reappeared from the river. When he emerged from the river, Jap Ji was his first utterance, his proclamation.

The story is told like this: I say story, meaning it is both true and not true. It is true because it conveys news of truth, and not true because it is a story and conveys news through symbols. And the deeper the matter spoken, the more one has to search for symbols. When Nanak was lost in the rivers for three days, the story is that he appeared at the door of the Divine. He experienced God. He saw the beloved before his eyes, for whom he called, for whom he sang songs, who was the thirst in every beat of his heart. He found Him before him, was satisfied, and the Divine told him, "Now you go and distribute what I have given you to the people." Jap Ji is his first gift, his first meeting after returning from the Divine. This is the story. Understand its symbols: until you are lost, until you die, you will not have an encounter with the Divine. It doesn't matter if you get lost in the river or the mountains, but you must not survive. Your being lost is His being. As long as you exist, He cannot exist. You are the obstacle, you are the wall. So, this story of getting lost in the river means you too must get lost. You too must drown. It takes three days. That is why we observe the third day when a person dies. We observe the third day because the event of dying takes three days to complete. That much time is necessary. The ego dies not instantly. It takes at least three days. That is why there are three days in the story: Nanak was lost in the river for three days. The ego completely dissolved, died. And neighbors, friends, loved ones, family members only see the ego. They do not see your soul. Therefore, they assumed Nanak had died. Whenever someone becomes a renunciate, their family assumes they have died. Whenever someone goes in search of them, their family assumes they are finished. Because they are no longer the same. The old chain is broken. The past is erased; now they are new. There is a gap of three days in between. Therefore, three days is a symbol. After three days, Nanak returned. Whoever gets lost returns, but returns as new. Whoever goes on that path returns. But when he was going, he was thirsty. When he returns, he returns as a giver. When he was going, he was a beggar. When he returns, he returns as an emperor. Whoever merges into the Divine, has a begging bowl when going. When returning, they have immeasurable wealth to distribute. Jap Ji is the first meeting. Appearing before the Divine. Finding the beloved. Do not take these symbols literally in a linguistic sense, because there is no God sitting somewhere before whom you will appear. But to say that, there is no other way to say it. When you vanish, whatever is before your eyes is the Divine. The Divine is not a person. The Divine is formless power. How can you appear before Him? Wherever you look, He is there. Whatever you see, that is Him. The day your eyes open, everything is Him. You just vanish, and your eyes open. The ego is the pebble in your eye. As soon as it is removed, the Divine appears. The Divine was already manifest. You were not present. Nanak vanished, the Divine manifested. As soon as the Divine manifests, you too become the Divine, because there is nothing else besides Him. Nanak returned, returned as the Divine. Then whatever he said, every word is precious. If we give any price to each word, the price will be too small. Each word is a divine utterance.

Now let us try to understand Jap Ji. "Ik Onkar Satnam Karta Purakh Nirbhau Nirvair Akal Murti Ajuni Saibhang Gur Prasad." He is One, the embodiment of Omkar, the True Name, the Creator, the Fearless, the Unenmity, the Timeless Being, the Immortal Form, Unborn, Self-existent, attained through the Guru's grace. He is One. Omkar is the embodiment. Satnam is the True Name. Whatever we see is manifold. Wherever you look, you see differences. Wherever your gaze falls, you see multiplicity. You go to the seashore, you see waves, you don't see the ocean. Although it is the ocean. Waves are superficial. But what is superficial is visible because we have only superficial eyes. To see within, one needs inner eyes. As the eye is, so will be the vision. Vision cannot be deeper than the eye. You have only superficial eyes. You will see the waves and return, and tell people that you have been to the ocean. This is not the way to go to the ocean. From the shore, you can see waves. If you are in the ocean, you must drown. That is why there is the story that Nanak drowned in the river. He is not in the waves. He is in the river. Not in the waves. He is in the ocean. On the surface, there will be waves. If you return after seeing from the shore, the news you give will be wrong. You will say you have been to the ocean. You have not gone to the ocean. There is no ocean at the shore. From there, waves can be seen. Even the collection of waves is not the ocean. The ocean is more than just the collection. And the fundamental difference is that the wave exists now, but not a moment later. It was not there a moment before. A Sufi fakir named Junaid loved his son very much. Then the son suddenly died in an accident. He was buried. The wife was a little surprised. The wife thought that if the son died, Junaid would go mad. He loved his son so much. But Junaid was as if nothing had happened, as if the son had not died. As if nothing had happened, Junaid remained the same. Finally, as evening approached and people departed after offering condolences, the wife asked, "Didn't you feel any sadness? I thought you would break down. You loved this son so much." Junaid said, "For a moment, there was a shock. Then I remembered that even when this son was not there, I was there and happy. Even when this son was not there, I was there and happy. Now that this son is not here, what is the reason for sadness? I became as I was before." The son came in between and went away. Was I sad before? So why should I be sad now? I was happy without the son, now I am without the son again. What is the difference? The intervening period was a dream that forms and dissolves. What comes and goes is a dream. Waves are a dream. The ocean is truth. Many waves are one ocean. We see multiplicity. And until we see the One, we will wander, because there is only one truth. Ik Onkar Satnam. And Nanak says that the name of that One is Omkar, and all other names are given by humans. Call it Ram, Krishna, Allah, these are human-given names, we have made them symbolic. But there is one name of His, which we have not given; that is Omkar. That is Om. Why? Omkar is His name. Because when all words are lost, and the mind becomes empty, and when the waves are left behind, and one merges into the ocean, still the sound of Omkar continues to resonate. That is not a sound we have made. It is the sound of existence. It is the rhythm of existence. The way of existence is Omkar. It is not a name given by any human. Therefore, Om has no meaning. Om is not a word. Om is a sound, and a unique sound at that. It has no source. No one creates it. It is hidden in the very being of existence. The sound of existence. Like a waterfall. Sit near it, and there is a sound of the waterfall, but that sound is produced by the collision of water and rock. Sit near a river. There is the sound of "kal kal" (murmuring). But that "kal kal" sound is from the collision of the river and the bank. A gust of wind blows. There is a rustling from the trees, but that rustling is from the collision of the wind and the trees. We speak, a musician sings, a string of a veena is plucked. But all things are produced by conflict. Two are necessary for conflict: the string of the veena, the hand to pluck it. All the dualities of the world are not His names. His name is that which, when all is lost, still one sound echoes.

In this regard, it is important to understand a few things. Science says that if we break down all existence and analyze it deeply, we ultimately get electrical energy. Therefore, the ultimate discovery of science is the electron. All existence is made of electricity. If we ask science what sound is made of, science says it is also made of electricity. Sound is also a form, a shape of electricity, but the root is electricity. In this regard, all wise people agree with science, with slight differences. That difference is not significant; it is a difference of language. All wise people have found that existence is made of sound, and electricity is a form of sound. Science says electricity is a form of sound, and religion says sound is a form of electricity. This is the only difference. But this difference appears as such: like a glass is half full. Someone says it is half full. Someone says it is half empty. The door of scientific reach is different. Science has discovered electricity by breaking down matter. The path of wise people is different. They have found the unbroken by joining themselves, not by breaking. They found sound in that unbrokenness. When a person becomes absorbed in samadhi, the sound of Omkar resonates. They find it resonating within themselves, and outside themselves. All people seem to be pervaded by it. They are astonished the first time it happens. Because they see, "I am not speaking. I am not doing anything. Where is this sound coming from?" Then they experience that this is the sound of being. It is not produced by any collision. It is not an struck sound. It is the unstruck sound. Nanak says that is His name, Omkar. Nanak will use the word "name" many times; remember this. Whenever he says "His name," it is an indication towards Omkar, because that is the One name, which we have not given, which is His own. Our given names will not go very far. And if they go even a little, it is because there is a slight glimpse of His name in our names. For example, if someone chants "Ram, Ram, Ram" internally, there is a slight glimpse of Omkar in it. That "Ma" is of Om. Therefore, even from the word "Ram," we can go a little distance. But if you keep doing the sound, one day you will suddenly find that the sound of Ram has changed into Omkar. If you keep doing it, as soon as the mind becomes calm, Om will enter your Ram, and you will gradually find that Ram has disappeared, and Om has come. This is the experience of all wise people: no matter what name they started with, eventually Om appears. As soon as you start to calm down, Om appears. Om is always present; only your calmness is needed.

Nanak says, "Ik Onkar Satnam." The word "Sat" also needs to be understood. In Sanskrit, there are two words: "Sat" and "Satya." "Sat" means existence. And "Satya" means truth. There is a big difference between the two. The root of both is the same. "Sat," "Satya," "Sat" - the root of all is the same. But there are slight differences, which are important to understand. "Satya" is the philosopher's quest. He searches, "What is truth?" For example, two plus two equals four. This is true. Two plus two does not equal five. Two plus two does not equal three. Two plus two equals four. This is a mathematical formula, true, but not "Sat." Because this is a human calculation. This is true, but not existential. Two plus two equals four. This is a human invention. This is true, but not "Sat." It is not "Satya." You have a dream at night. The dream is true, but not "Sat." If it is a dream, how can you see it? It must exist. But you cannot say it is "Satya" because in the morning you find it is almost non-existent. But it did happen. The dream occurred. So, there are events in the world that are true and not "Satya," and there are also events that are "Satya" but not true. Mathematics is true, not "Satya." A conclusion of mathematics can be true, not "Satya." A dream is true, not "Satya." The Divine is both "Sat" and "Satya." Therefore, He cannot be found through mathematics, nor through science, because science searches for "Satya." Nor can He be found through poetry or art, because art searches for "Sat." The Divine is both. "Sat" plus "Satya." Therefore, neither art nor science can fully discover Him; both are incomplete. And therefore, the quest of religion is separate from both. Religion is the search for that which is both, which is together. Which is as true as any formula of mathematics, and which is as true as any concept of poetry. It is both, and neither. If you see it by half, you will miss it. Only if you see it by combining both can you find Him. So, when Nanak says "Ik Onkar Satnam," this "Sat" includes both: "Sat" and "Satya." The name of that supreme existence, which is true like mathematics, and which is also true like poetry. Which is sweet like a dream, and precise like mathematics. Which is like the feeling of the heart, and also like the perception of the mind. Where the mind and heart meet, there religion begins. If the mind alone remains, suppressing the heart, then science is born. If the heart alone remains, removing the mind, then the world of imagination, poetry, music, and art is born. And if both the mind and heart meet, if both combine, then we enter Omkar. A religious person is a greater scientist than the greatest scientist, a greater artist than the greatest artist, because their quest is combined. Science and art are dualities; religion is synthesis. Nanak says, "Ik Onkar Satnam." That one Omkar form, that Satnam Karta Purakh. If you understand these words from above, there will be confusion. A difficulty for wise people is that they have to use your words. To talk to you, they have to speak your language. And what they want to say is beyond language. What they want to say cannot come into your language. Your language is very narrow. It is very vast, like someone wanting to contain the entire sky in their house. Like someone wanting to bind all light in their fist. Such is the helplessness. So, your words have to be used, and because of your words...

There are so many sects that arise because Buddha lived 2000 years before Nanak. So Buddha used a different language that was prevalent and that people understood. Krishna, who lived 2000 years before Buddha, used yet another language that people understood. Muhammad used another language because the environment, the country, and the people were different. Mahavir, Jesus, used different languages. The difference in languages is due to your language; otherwise, there is no difference among the wise. The language Nanak was using could be understood in Nanak's time. So Nanak says, "Karta Purakh" (the Creator), the maker. But immediately, we realize that if He is the maker and we are made, then duality arises. And Nanak denied it from the beginning, saying He is One. If He, the maker, the creator, is separate from the creation, which He made, then duality begins. The obstacle starts with our language. As Nanak progresses, the obstacle will begin. The first word He spoke after samadhi was "Ek Onkar Satnam." The truth is that the entire Sikh religion concludes in these three words. Beyond this, you are being tried to be explained, otherwise, the matter is complete. You will not understand. Beyond this, it has to be elaborated. Elaboration is due to you. The mantra is complete. The matter is complete. "Ek Onkar, Satnam," everything has been said. But for you, nothing has been said yet. What solution will these three words provide? No solution is achieved. Then your language begins. "Karta Purakh" is the maker, but remember, what He made is not separate from Him. The maker is hidden in the creation. The doer is hidden in the deed. The creator is merged in the creation. That is why Nanak did not separate the householder from the ascetic. Because if the Creator, God, is separate from creation, then you should separate yourself from the worldly affairs of creation. When you have to search for the Creator, you should move away from the deed. You should move away from action. Then you should separate yourself from the market, the shop, and the business. Nanak did not separate himself until the end. He used to go on journeys, and whenever he returned, he would engage in his farming. Then he would pick up the plow and the flock. Throughout his life, whenever he returned home, he would start his work. The village where he finally settled, he named it Kartarpur, the village of the Creator. If God is the Creator, do not think that He has become separate from the deed. A person makes a statue. When the statue is made, the sculptor becomes separate. The statue becomes separate. They become two. The statue will not die with the sculptor's death. If the sculptor dies, the statue will remain. If the statue breaks, the sculptor will not die. If the statue breaks, the sculptor will survive. They have become separate. There is no such distance between God and His creation. Then what is the relationship between God and His creation? It is like that of a dance. A person is dancing. So there is a dance. But can you separate the dance from the dancer? If the dancer goes home, can he leave the dance with you? If the dancer dies, the dance will die. The dance will stop. Then that person is no longer a dancer. Both are united. That is why Hindus, from ancient times, have seen God from the perspective of a dancer, Natraj. Because in the symbol of Natraj, the dancer and the dance are never separate. When a poet creates a poem, it becomes separate from the poet. When a sculptor makes a statue, it becomes separate from the sculptor. A mother gives birth to a son, and she becomes separate from him as soon as he is born. The father is separate from the son. But God is not separate from His creation. He is merged in creation. If your language is not used correctly, it would have to be said, "The Creator is the Creation." And if it is to be said more accurately, "The Creator is nothing but the Creativity." The Creator is the process of creation. He Himself is creation. That is why Nanak says, do not leave anything and run away. He is hidden where you are. That is why Nanak gave birth to a unique religion in which the householder and the ascetic are one. And only that person is entitled to call himself a Sikh who, while being a householder, is also an ascetic. And while being an ascetic, is also a householder. Growing hair on the head and tying a turban does not make one a Sikh. Being a Sikh is very difficult. Being a householder is easy. Being an ascetic is easy. Leave everything and run to the forest. Being a Sikh is difficult. Because Sikh means ascetic and householder together. To live in a house and live as if you are not there. To live in a house and live as if you are on the Himalayas. To run a shop, but to remember God. To count rupees, taking His name. The first glimpse Nanak received of God, which he called the divine vision, after drowning for three days in this river, the event that occurred was samadhi. After that, he became the Supreme Being, but before that, he had many small glimpses. The first glimpse Nanak received was in a shop where he was weighing wheat and grain on a scale. He was weighing the grain and giving it to someone. He would fill the scale and say, "One, two, three, ten, eleven, twelve." Then he reached thirteen. In Punjabi, the form of thirteen is "tera." He remembered God's thirteen. The thirteen became a melody. Then he kept weighing, but the number did not go beyond thirteen. He would fill the scale, put it in, and say, "Tera." He would fill the scale, put it in, and say, "Tera." Because the final stage had arrived. Is there a number beyond thirteen? The destination had arrived. Everything ended at thirteen. People thought he had gone mad. People tried to stop him, but he was in another world. He kept saying "tera" (thirteen), putting it on the scale, weighing it, and not going beyond thirteen. Where is there room to go beyond? There are only two stages: either me or you. It starts with me and ends with you. Nanak is not against the world; Nanak is in love with the world. Because he says that the world and its maker are not two. Love this too. Love Him through this. Search for Him through this. So when Nanak became young, and his family told him to get married, he did not refuse. His family must have been thinking, "He won't say no," because from childhood, his ways were not ordinary. Nanak's father was always troubled. He never understood what the matter was. He sent his son to another village to buy goods, giving him ₹20 for the purpose of singing, chanting, and congregational worship. He bought the goods but met sadhus on the way. They were hungry. His father had told him when he left, "Buy cheap things and sell them at a higher price in this village. This is the secret of business. Buy from another village cheaply. Sell here expensively. Buy what is cheap here. Sell expensively in another village. This is the path of profit." So bring something to buy that will yield profit. Nanak was returning. After buying, he met a group of sadhus. They had been hungry for five days. Nanak asked, "You who are sitting hungry, get up and do something. Why don't you go to the village?" They said, "This is our vow, that when it is His will, He will give." So we were joyful. Hunger makes no difference. So Nanak thought, "What could be a greater profit than this?" That this food I have bought should be distributed to these supreme sadhus. His father had said, "Do some profitable work." He distributed it. His companion, his friend, was with him. His name was Bala. He said, "What are you doing? Have you lost your mind?" Nanak said, "Didn't father say to do some profitable work? What greater profit is there than this?" He distributed it and returned home very happy. That is why I say his ways were not ordinary. His father said, "Fool, is this how business is done? You will ruin everything." And Nanak said, "Don't you think? What greater profit is there? I have returned having earned profit." But this profit was not visible to anyone. Nanak's father, Kalu Mehta, could not see it at all. He thought his son had gone astray. He had gone astray in congregational worship. He was not in his senses. He thought that perhaps tying him down with a woman would bring some relief. People often think this. The reason for thinking so is that ascetics run away from women. So if someone is to be made a householder, tie them down with a woman. But this trick did not work with Nanak. Because this man was not against anything. His father said, "Get married." Nanak said, "Okay, I got married, but there was no change in his ways. Children were born, but there was no change in his ways." There was no way to spoil this man because he saw no difference between the world and God. How would you spoil him? If a person renounces wealth and becomes an ascetic, you can spoil him by giving him wealth. If a person renounces women and becomes an ascetic, you can spoil him by sending a beautiful woman to him. But how will you spoil someone who has not renounced anything? There is no way for his downfall. Nanak cannot be corrupted. That is why I am also in favor that ascetics should be like Nanak. Because an ascetic is one who cannot be corrupted. You cannot corrupt someone who is sitting right in your world and yet is not there. How will you corrupt him? He has broken all means. That God, whom Nanak calls Karta Purakh, is free from fear. Because fear only exists where there is another. A saying from the West, from Jean-Paul Sartre, has become very famous. That saying is "The Other is Hell." Your experience is also the same. How many times do you wish you could be left alone? The other is a nuisance. If it's a friend, it's a little less of a nuisance. If it's an enemy, it's a little more of a nuisance. If it's your own, it's a little less of a nuisance. But the other is a nuisance. What is fear? Fear of the other. That someone will not snatch. That someone will not break security. Then death is coming, that is also another. Illness is coming, that is also another. What is fear? You are surrounded by others. This is your hell. "The Other is Hell." The other is hell. But how will you escape from the other? Even if you go and sit on the Himalayas, you will not be alone. If you sit under a tree, a crow will defecate on you. You will get angry at the crow. If you sit, rain will come. Sun will come. Where will you run from the other? Wherever you go, you will find the other. Because there is only one way to escape from the other: find that One where there is no other left. Then all fear falls away. Then there is no death. Then there is no illness. Then there is no inconvenience. Because the other is angry, you are you. There is no difference. Fear will remain as long as you see others as separate. "Ek Onkar Satnam." For whom this has permeated his mind, what fear can he have? God cannot have fear. Whom will He fear? He is alone. There is no one else besides Him. Akal (Timeless) is free from fear, free from enmity, beyond time. Akal Murti (Timeless Form), beyond time. Beyond time, beyond the dimension of time. Understand that a little. The meaning of time is change. If something does not change, you will not know the passage of time. Even in a clock, time is known because the hand moves. If the hand does not move, time will not be known. Things are changing. The sun rose, it became noon. It became evening. A child was, became young. Young was, became old. Healthy became sick. Sick became healthy. Poor became rich. The wealth of the rich ran out. Change, everything has changed. The river flows. Time is in this change itself. The meaning of time is the interval between two changes. Think for a moment, if you wake up this morning and nothing happens until your last breath. No change occurs. The sun remains where it is. Your age remains the same. The clock's hand does not move. Trees do not age, leaves do not wither, everything stops. Then how will you know the passage of time? There will be no time. Time is known to you because you are surrounded by change. For God, there is no time because He is eternal, everlasting, always present. Nothing is changing for Him. Everything is still for Him. Change is the experience of the blind eye. If change is like this, then are we not seeing the whole? If we see the whole, then change will cease for us. As soon as change ceases, time is lost. Time is a means of measuring change. For God, everything is as it is. Nothing changes. Everything is still. Akal Murti (Timeless Form), Ayoni (Unborn), Swayambhu (Self-existent). He is not born from any womb. God has neither a father nor a mother. And whatever is born from a womb enters the world of change. You also have to search within yourself for that which is Ayonij. This body was born. It will die. This body was made by the union of two bodies. It will disintegrate. When those two bodies themselves disintegrate, how will this body, made by their union, survive? But within it is Ayonij, which came into the womb, which was before the womb, and if you leave it now, the body will lie like a corpse. Within this body, Kalatit (Beyond Time) has entered. Akal Purakh (Timeless Being) is also present within this body. This body is merely His garment. A house in which He has stayed. But only when you find Him within yourself will you be able to understand Nanak's word. You have to search within yourself for that which neither changes nor transforms. If you have ever practiced sitting with your eyes closed even a little, you must have realized that there is no age within. You may be 40 years old, 50 years old, but within, you don't know. When you were five years old, if you closed your eyes, you would find yourself the same within as you will find yourself at 50 years old. As if time has not passed for the inner self. Look within with your eyes closed. You will find that nothing changes there. And this inner self, which has not changed, was not born from any womb. You have come from your parents, you were not born from them. They are the path for your arrival. But they are not your creators. You have passed through them. Because the arrangement for creating your body was within them. But that which entered the body has come from beyond. The day you find yourself Ayonij within, on that day you will understand that God has no womb, nor can He have one. Because God means totality. God means the totality. From what will this whole be born? Nothing remains beyond the whole that can become its mother and father. Therefore, He is Ayoni, Swayambhu. He is by Himself. Swayambhu means He is by Himself. No support. Not due to any reason. No basis. His own basis. The day you get even a glimpse of this within yourself, on that day you will be free from worry. What is your worry? Worry is that everything has a basis. And the basis of everything can be snatched away. Worry comes from snatching. Worry comes from the thought of snatching. Today there is wealth. Tomorrow there will not be. Then what will you do? You are rich because of wealth. You are not rich because of yourself. An ascetic is rich because of himself. You cannot snatch that from him. What will you snatch from Buddha? What will you snatch from Nanak? By snatching anything, you cannot diminish Nanak. By giving anything, you cannot increase him. You cannot add anything, you cannot subtract anything. Nanak, whatever he is, is with that supreme support. You have no support. And that supreme support is not separate. God is without basis. You are also without basis. And the day you are willing to be without basis, on that day you will merge with God. This explanation of God is not a philosopher's explanation. This is an explanation for the seeker so that you understand these characteristics of God. And if you want to attain God, then you have to make these characteristics your practice. In a small way, you have to strive to become God. As you begin to become like Him, a harmony will be established. A melody will play between the two. Ayoni is Swayambhu. He is attained by the Guru's grace. Why is it said by Guru's grace? Is human effort not enough? In this regard, a subtle point needs to be understood. Because Nanak will emphasize the Guru greatly. Without the Guru, God cannot be attained. He will say, what is the reason? If God exists, why can't I meet Him directly? What is the need for the Guru in between? Krishnamurti says there is no need for a Guru. It seems correct to the intellect and logic. What is the need? When God exists, I am also born from God, the Guru is also born from God, so why place the Guru in between? What is the necessity? The mind also wants that the Guru should not be placed in between. That is why a gathering of arrogant people assembled around Krishnamurti. Krishnamurti is absolutely right. There is no need for a Guru. If you are capable of bringing down your ego yourself. But bringing down your ego is as difficult as lifting yourself by holding onto your shoelaces. Bringing down your ego is as difficult as a dog trying to catch its own tail. The harder it jumps, the harder the tail jumps. How will you bring down your ego? If you can, then Krishnamurti is right. Absolutely right. There is no need for any Guru. But that is the whole problem. Even if you are capable of bringing down your ego and say, "I have brought down my ego," then a new ego will arise. This is more dangerous than the old one. The Guru is needed so that a second ego cannot arise. You will say, "By Guru's grace." You don't have this ego, so you will create this: "How humble I am. No one is as humble as me." Now I have found new ways. This ego has found a new trick. Yesterday I used to say, "No one is richer than me." Arrogance. Today I say, "No one is more humble than me." Arrogance. The same rope has burned, the arrogance remains. Who will erase arrogance? That is why Nanak emphasizes. There is no obstacle in attaining God. He can be attained directly because He is present right in front of you. Directly in line with your nose. Wherever you go, He is present everywhere. But there is one obstacle, and that obstacle is that you are standing within. How will you bring this down? That is why by Guru's grace. The seeker will strive, but will hold the belief that it will happen by the Guru's grace. This belief in Guru's grace will not allow your ego to form. It will bring down the old one. It will not let the new one form. Otherwise, one disease goes, and another takes its place. And so, a very interesting event happened. A gathering of arrogant people assembled around Krishnamurti. That gathering is of those people who do not want to bow down to anyone. They found great relief. They don't want to touch anyone's feet. They found great support. They said, "There is no need for a Guru. We will attain it ourselves." And this is the obstacle. If a person like Nanak were with Krishnamurti, a person like Ramakrishna were with Krishnamurti, then there would be no obstacle. But the people who gather are the very people who are incapable of bringing down their ego. They need a Guru. This is a very interesting event. The people with Krishnamurti need a Guru. The people with Nanak could attain without a Guru. You will say I am creating a riddle. The people with Nanak could attain without a Guru because they were ready to accept Guru's grace. They were ready to give up themselves. It is attained without a Guru, but the concept of a Guru becomes helpful in bringing down your ego. You do not become filled with arrogance. Otherwise, you will say, "I am ruling. I meditate for three hours in the morning." A wife came to me and said, "My husband comes to you. Please explain something to him." The conversation happened. He is a Sikh. What happened?

From 2:00 AM, they would wake up and start reciting Jap Ji, making it difficult to sleep in the house. Neither the children could sleep, nor could I. And if you say anything to them, they say that you should all wake up and recite. What to do? I called my husband. He used to come to me. I asked him when they wake up and recite. He said that they wake up at 2:00 AM in the morning, in the early morning. For them, 2:00 AM in the morning. So I said that your morning has become very dangerous for others. He said it was their mistake. They should all wake up. They are lazy, indolent, sluggish, and I am serving everyone. I recite Jap Ji loudly. The sound reaches the ears of the people in the neighborhood. I had told them that you do this, serve the neighborhood a little less, bring it slowly at 4 AM, otherwise it becomes very difficult to bring down those who are elevated. He said that this can never happen, you want to snatch my religion from me. Now this is their arrogance that there is no one who recites like them, and that arrogance binds them to keep chanting throughout life. The real question is the eradication of arrogance. Therefore, Nanak will repeatedly say that whatever you do will be of no avail. Until you are annihilated. This is the great secret of the Guru's teaching of self-annihilation. Because you do something. You say it is happening by the Guru's grace. It is happening by his grace. I am doing it. Then ego will stand up. If you can bring down your ego without any support, then there is no need for a Guru. But out of millions, only one person can bring it down without a Guru. Therefore, they are exceptions. They should not be counted. Rules should not be made because of them. Sometimes it happens that a person brings it down without a Guru, but it requires very deep understanding, which you do not have. It requires such deep understanding that they can see ego standing before their eyes and ego falls just by seeing it. For that, they need eyes like Shiva's, who saw Kamadeva and Kamadeva was reduced to ashes. Such awareness, such consciousness is needed. When a Buddha or a Mahavir sees something with such speed, everything falls in the intensity of his gaze, then another feeling does not arise because everything has turned to ashes. He doesn't even realize that he has done something. It happened. But whatever you do, a tune keeps playing inside, "I did it." If you meditate, "I did it." If you do ध्यान, "I did it." If you worship, "I did it." Your ego is formed from everywhere. Let's leave that one aside because there is no need to bring that one in between. He will find it. But for those millions of people, there is only one way to find it. Whatever they do, let the spirit of practice be that it is by the Guru's grace, by the Guru's mercy. There is a very old saying in India. When it was Satya Yuga, there was not so much need for a Guru. But in Kali Yuga, a Guru is greatly needed. What is the reason? How does Hinduism divide the world? In Satya Yuga, they say it is the time when people were very conscious, very careful. And Kali Yuga is called the age when people are very asleep. Unconscious. Therefore, the religion of Buddha or Mahavir is not as useful today as the religion of Nanak. Nanak's religion is the newest religion. Although it is also 500 years old, it has become quite old and something new is needed. Because the people Buddha and Mahavir were talking to were more conscious than us. They were more enlightened people than us. They were simpler people than us. Then the people Krishna was talking to were even simpler. As we go back, there is simplicity. Just as a person goes back in his life, he is simple in childhood. He becomes a little difficult in youth. He becomes completely complicated in old age. It is very difficult to deal with an old person. He knows nothing, but he thinks he knows everything. He has faced the blows of life. He has fallen here and there. He says he has a lot of experience. He hasn't gathered it well, but he thinks he has gathered knowledge from great experience. A simple child is Satya Yuga. A very complicated old man is Kali Yuga. And the old man's unconsciousness increases and should increase because death is near. The child's consciousness is fresh because the source of life is very close. The child is like a wave emanating from God, the old man is filled with dust. He is close to falling into God. The child is a fresh flower, the old man has withered, close to leaving. Life energy is diminishing. Kali Yuga means a time when the end is near. Life has become old. In that Kali Yuga, it will be impossible without a Guru. Because in every situation, you will be filled with your ego. When you are filled with ego by doing small things, how will you not be filled by doing spiritual practice? You have built a small house, you walk around proudly. You have filled a safe, you walk around proudly. When you go in search of ultimate wealth, your arrogance will increase greatly. So look at the arrogance of those who go to temples, mosques. They look at everyone and think that you will all fall into hell. You will rot. I go to the temple every day, and you are all corrupt sinners. And the one who takes the name of Ram thinks that the door to heaven is assured for him, and everyone else is going to fall into hell. The more unconsciousness there is, the more the need for a Guru. Understand it this way: the more sleep there is in your life, the more necessary the Guru is. The more wakefulness there is in your life, the less necessary the Guru is. If you are perfectly aware, there is absolutely no need for a Guru. If you are completely asleep, how will you wake up on your own? You can only wake up if someone shakes you. Even then, there is a fear that you will turn over and go back to sleep. That is obtained by the Guru's grace. Adi Sach, Jugaad Sach, Hai Bhi Sach, Nanak Hosi Bhi Sach. He is Truth in the beginning. He is Truth at the beginning of ages. He is Truth now. Nanak says He is always Truth. He is Truth in the future as well. This is the definition of truth and untruth. Untruth is that which never was, is now, and will never be again. Untruth means that which is not at both ends and is in the middle, a dream. When you woke up in the morning, it was gone. When you slept at night, it was not there. That is why in the morning you say, the dream was false, not true. Because it was not in the evening, it will not be in the morning. This body was not there one day. It will not be there one day again. This body is false. Anger has arisen. It was not there a moment ago and will be gone in a while. This anger is a dream. This is not truth. That which is always is truth. And if you take this teaching deeper, your life will be transformed. Do not be too affected by what changes. Seek that which is eternal and unchanging. Then who is within you that never changes? Seek that. Surely it is within you because all change happens upon it. Just as the wheel of a cart turns on a nail that remains fixed, the wheel keeps turning, the nail remains fixed. If you separate the nail, the wheel will immediately fall. The change that is happening is also happening upon the eternal. The nail of the soul is fixed, the cycle of the body is revolving. As soon as the nail is separated, the wheel falls. Nanak says, Adi Sach, Jugaad Sach, Hai Bhi Sach, Nanak Hosi Bhi Sach. That is the truth, that is the One. Because it was before, it is now, it will be tomorrow, it will always be. And all else is a dream. If this one word is deeply embedded in your mind, repeat it in your mind when anger arises: Adi Sach, Jugaad Sach, Hai Bhi Sach, Nanak Hosi Bhi Sach. When hatred arises, when greed arises, repeat it and remember that which was not there until now, which has just happened, is a dream. It will be gone. There is no need to be too affected by it. Maintain a state of witness. Gradually you will find that the futile will fall away on its own because your connection with it has broken, and the meaningful will be born. The eternal will begin to rise. The world will begin to fade. "Sochi Sochi Na Ho Gai" (Thinking and thinking, it did not happen). "Je Sochi Lakhvaar" (Even if thought a million times). "Chup Chupae Na Hoi Lai Raha Liv" (By remaining silent, it is not attained, by remaining absorbed). "Bhukhiya Bhukh Na Utaroo" (The hunger of the hungry cannot be satisfied). "Banna Puriya Bhaar" (Even if mountains of wealth are accumulated). "Sahaj Siapa Lakh Hoi Ek Na Chale Naali" (Even if a million worldly troubles arise, not one will be of use). "Ki Sachiyara Ho Ki Tapa" (How to become truthful? How to endure penance?). "Hukm Rajai Chalna Nanak Likh Naari" (To walk according to His command and will, Nanak has written). This is a very precious, valuable sutra of Nanak. The essence of everything. We cannot think it by thinking, even if we think a million times. No one has ever attained it by thinking and thinking. It is by thinking and thinking that we have lost it. The more we think, the more we get lost in thoughts. God is not a thought. It is not the conclusion of any logic. It is not the conclusion of the brain. God is truth. There is no question of thinking. You have to see. What will happen by thinking? You will get more lost in thinking. You have to open your eyes. And if your eyes are filled with thoughts, your eyes will remain blind. The eyes must be without thoughts, only then is vision available. What the Jain fakirs call "No Mind." What Kabir calls "Unni Dasha." What Buddha calls "the disappearance of the mind." What Patanjali called "Nirvikalpa Samadhi." Where all alternatives and thoughts are lost, there Nanak is saying, even by thinking and thinking, we cannot think it, even if we think a million times. By remaining silent, that silence cannot be attained, even if we remain in meditation continuously. Why can't it be attained by thinking? Why can't silence be attained by effort? Because the more effort you make, the more you will find. Silence becomes impossible. Some things do not happen by effort. For example, if someone cannot sleep, no matter how much effort they make, they will not be able to sleep. The truth is, the more effort you make, the more difficult sleep will become. Because sleep means letting go of all effort, only then will it come. You will continue to try. Trying will keep you awake. Has sleep ever come from being awake? There is no way to induce sleep. Because sleep comes only when you become helpless. When you make no effort. You lie on the bed, helpless, only then sleep comes. How can you force yourself into silence? You can sit. You can make your body like a stone statue. The mind will keep boiling inside. Nanak was a guest in the house of a Muslim Nawab. For Nanak, what is Hindu, what is Muslim? For the one who is knowledgeable, there is no boundary of sect. That Nawab said to Nanak, if you truly say that there is no Hindu, no Muslim, then today is Friday, come and offer Namaz with us. Nanak agreed, but he said, if you offer Namaz, then we will also offer it. The Nawab said, is this even a matter of condition? We are going to offer it. The whole village gathered, Muslims, Hindus, all gathered. There was a stir among the Hindus. Nanak's family members also reached, saying, what are you doing? People thought that Nanak was going to become a Muslim. People measure others by their own fears. Nanak went to the mosque. Namaz was offered. The Nawab was very angry. He kept looking back intermittently, seeing that Nanak was neither bowing nor offering Namaz. He just stood and quickly finished Namaz because anger cannot be offered in Namaz. Somehow he finished. Nanak broke his promise and said, how can you be a cheat? How can you be a saint? You promised to offer Namaz and you didn't. Nanak said, you forgot the condition. You said that if you offer Namaz, then I will offer it. You did not offer it, so how can I offer it? The Nawab said, what are you saying? Are you in your senses? So many people are witnesses. We were offering Namaz. Nanak said, I do not accept their testimony because I was watching you, what was going on inside you? You were buying horses in Kabul. The Nawab was a little surprised because he was indeed buying horses. His best horse had died that morning, and he was filled with its pain. He was thinking about how to go to Kabul, how to buy a good horse, because that horse was a matter of great pride and honor. And Nanak said, this Maulvi of yours, who was making you offer Namaz, was harvesting his crops in the field. And this was true. The Maulvi also said that the matter is true, the crop has ripened and the time to harvest has come. There are no laborers available in the village, and worry is weighing on his mind. Nanak said, now you tell me. You offered Namaz, and I should join you. You offer Namaz by force. You do meditation by force. You offer worship and prayer by force. What are you doing? It has no value. What is going on inside you? You sit like a stone statue. What will happen by this? You will make your body work. What will happen by this? The mind will keep thinking what is going on. And it will run even stronger because when the body was engaged in work, the energy was divided. Now the body is completely inactive. All the energy has gone to the mind. Now thoughts will arise even stronger in the mind. That is why when people sit for meditation, more thoughts will arise. When they sit for worship, they think a lot about the market. Whenever they sit and ring bells in the temple, they find that there is some defect inside them, that everything runs fine otherwise. In the cinema, silence comes. There is a little peace, but in temples, mosques, and gurdwaras, there is absolutely no peace. What is the matter? Cinema is related to your desires. Whatever is within you is being awakened there. Whatever is filled within you is being brought forth there. That same garbage, that same trash, finds a connection with you. In the temple, some such call is being made with which you have no connection. Everything gets messed up there. Nanak says, nothing will happen even by remaining silent. That silence cannot be attained, even if we remain in meditation continuously. Keep sitting day and night, nothing will happen. The hunger of the hungry will not be satisfied, even if we accumulate mountains of wealth. Because this hunger cannot be satisfied by wealth. This thirst is unique and can only be quenched if God Himself descends as the quencher. How can we become truthful? How can the veil of falsehood be destroyed? Nanak says that this can only happen by walking according to His command and His will, as He has ordained and written. This word is to be understood with great attention. "Hukm Rajai Chalna Nanak Likh Naari" (To walk according to His command and will, Nanak has written). Nothing will happen by your doing. Whatever you do, you will do it yourself. Even if you speak the truth, the truth will come out of your false personality. That truth will also become false. Where will you bring the truth from? You are completely false. It will make no difference. Nanak was staying in a village. The headman of the village had invited the entire village for a feast. Some Yajna was going on. Nanak was also invited. Nanak did not go. And he stayed in the house of a poor man. The name of that man was Lalu. He was very poor, had no status. He had only dry rotis. And the rich man of the village had invited him many times, people came to call him. He did not agree. When the rich man himself came, he took Nanak. Nanak said, if you wish, I will go. He took him to the palace and asked, you refuse my pure food and the impure food of that poor man? He is not even a Brahmin. These Brahmins have prepared all this after bathing with the water of the Ganges, it is pure. And you refuse like this. Nanak said, if you are insistent, then bring a little of your food. Lalu also followed him. He said, you also bring your dry roti. It is said to be a symbolic story that Nanak squeezed Lalu's roti in one hand and the halwa-puri of that rich man in the other. From Lalu's dry roti, a stream of milk flowed, and from the other hand, drops of blood dripped. Nanak said, if you are impure, then get food prepared by Brahmins, or call the Ganges water, or wash each grain of wheat and prepare it. It will make no difference. Your entire life is of deceit, theft, and lies. Blood is hidden in every roti of yours. Whether blood came out or not is not the question. But the truth is. How will you become truthful? You will become truthful, won't you? Who will do it? So Nanak says, nothing will happen by your doing. If you are dishonest, then dishonesty will creep into your truthfulness. You will speak the truth in such a way that it benefits your dishonesty. You will speak the truth in such a way that it hurts others. You will search for such truth that pierces the hearts of others. You used to harm people with lies. You will also harm them with truth. Whatever you do will be wrong because you are wrong. What is the solution? So Nanak says, there is only one solution. Leave everything to Him according to His command and His will. Live as He makes you live. Do as He makes you do. Go where He takes you. Let His command be your only practice. Remove your will. Let His will come. Accept it. Life as it is, God has given it, let Him know. Do not refuse. If sorrow comes, keep even sorrow according to His will and be grateful. Be thankful that if He has given sorrow, then surely there must be a secret, a meaning, a mystery. Do not complain. Be filled with gratitude. He keeps you as He wishes, poor or rich, in happiness or in sorrow. One thing should remain constant within you: "I am Your servant, Your command is my life." And then you will suddenly find that you are becoming peaceful. What did not happen even by sitting in meditation for millions of hours, happened by leaving everything to His will. It will happen because there is no reason for worry. What is worry? That what is happening should be different. The son died, he should not have died, this is worry. The beloved left, he should not have left, this is worry. What happened should not have happened, and what is happening should not happen. You are trying to impose your will on life. This is your worry. Then you are troubled by this. Then, carrying this trouble within, you sit for meditation. Then you will be harvesting crops in the field, buying horses in Kabul. That worry of yours will remain behind. It will distort your meditation too. Then how can you become peaceful? Peace has only one quality. If you understand it correctly, all the previous searches will be understood. All the previous searches, from Lao Tzu to Nanak, are to accept what is happening. Total acceptability. Its old name is destiny. That word has been corrupted. All words get corrupted by prolonged use. Because wrong people use them. Wrong meanings get attached. Now, if you want to criticize someone, you say they are fatalistic. But this is the meaning of destiny. Nanak says, "Hukm Rajai Chalna Nanak Likh Na" (To walk according to His command and will, Nanak has written). What is written will happen. What is not written will not happen. There is no way to do anything on your own. No change can happen. Then who to worry about? Then who to bear the burden? When you do not want to change anything, when you are happy with Him, happy with His will, when you have no will of your own, then why such restlessness? Then what thoughts? Then everything becomes light. You get wings and can fly in that sky whose name is "Ek Onkar Satnam." Nanak's only method is the will of God. As He makes us do, as He keeps us, so it happened. Ibrahim bought a slave in the market. The slave was very healthy and radiant. Ibrahim brought him home. Ibrahim fell in love with him. The man was very influential. Ibrahim asked, how would you prefer to live? Then that slave smiled and said, "Master, whatever your will. What is my existence? I will live as you keep me." Ibrahim asked, what would you like to wear? What would you like to eat? He said, what is my preference? I will wear what you give me to wear. I will eat what the master feeds me. Ibrahim asked, what is your name? What name should we call you by? He said, "Master, whatever your will. What is my name? A servant has no name, whatever name you give." It is said that a revolution occurred in Ibrahim's life. He got up, touched the feet of this slave and said, "You have told me the secret I was searching for. Now this is the relationship between me and my Master. You are my Guru." From then on, Ibrahim became peaceful. What did not happen through many days of meditation, what did not happen through many days of offering Namaz, was found through this sutra of the slave. "Hukm Rajai Chalna Nanak Likh Na." Think a little, experiment. Live as He keeps you. You have tried a lot on your own, what happened? You are the same as you were. You have become distorted from what He sent you, not improved. You are not as you came in childhood, innocent. That much is also not left in your hand. The slate has become dirty. You have written everything. What have you gained? Except for sorrow, tension, and anguish, what has come into your hands? Listen to Nanak for a few days. Leave it to Him. Therefore, Nanak says, not chanting, not penance, not meditation, not concentration. The only practice is His will. As soon as you realize His will, you will find that everything inside becomes light. A deep peace begins to rain within, where there is no stress, no worry. There is so much stress and worry in the West, much more than in the East. Although the East is very poor, sad, sick, ill, without food, without clothes, without shelter. The West has everything, yet there is so much worry and stress that out of every four people, about three have become mentally disturbed. What is the reason? Because the West tried to impose its will. Man in the West has faith in himself. We will do everything. There is no need for God's support. God does not exist. Man will do everything. So he has done a lot, but man has become completely lost. He is going mad. He has done a lot outside. Inside, everything has become diseased. If this sutra descends into your life, then nothing is left to do. Let what is happening happen. Do not swim, float. Do not fight with the river. The river is not an enemy. It is a friend. Enmity arises from fighting a lot. And when you start swimming against the current, then the river starts to struggle with you. You think the river is taking enmity with me. What enmity does the river have? The river doesn't even know you. You are swimming against the current with your own hands. Your will means the opposite current. Ego means the opposite current. His will means you have become one with the current. Now, wherever the river takes you, that is the destination. Wherever it puts you, that is the shore. If it drowns you, that too is the destination. Then why worry? Then why sorrow? You have cut the root of sorrow. This is a very precious sutra. Nanak says that this can only happen by walking according to His command and His will, as He has ordained and written. So Nanak closed all doors of ego. First, the Guru's grace, that whatever you do, whatever achievement, it is by the Guru's grace. And then, whatever the flow of life, wherever it takes you, His command. Then nothing is left to do. And then it will not take long for you to realize: "Ek Onkar Satnam Karta Purakh Nirbhay Nirver Akal Kaal Murti Ajuni Sem Guru Prasadi Adi Sach Jugaadi Sach Hai Bhi Sach Nanak Hosi Bhi Sach." (One God, True Name, Creator Being, Fearless, Without Enmity, Timeless, Deathless, Formless, Unborn, Self-Existent, Known by the Guru's Grace. True in the beginning, True through the ages, True now, True in the future, O Nanak.) "Sochi Sochi Na Ho Gai Je Sochi Lakhvaar" (Thinking and thinking, it did not happen, even if thought a million times). "Chupe Chupe Na Hoi Lai Raha Liv" (By remaining silent, it is not attained, by remaining absorbed). "Bhukhiya Bhukh Na Utaroo Je Banna Puriya Bhaar" (The hunger of the hungry cannot be satisfied, even if mountains of wealth are accumulated). "Sahaj Siapa Lakh Hoi Ek Na Chale Naali" (Even if a million worldly troubles arise, not one will be of use). "Ki Sachiyara Ho Ki Kade Tutpal" (How to become truthful? How to break the chains?). "Hukm Rajai Chadhna Nanak Likh Naari" (To walk according to His command and will, Nanak has written). Then what thoughts? Then everything becomes light. You get wings and can fly in that sky whose name is "Ek Onkar Satnam." Nanak's only method is the will of God. As He makes us do, as He keeps us, so it happened. There was a Nawab named Ibrahim. True in the beginning, True through the ages, True now, True in the future, O Nanak.) Today, that's all.
