When someone gets attacked, they double down. They get defensive.
When someone's ego gets bruised, it doesn't matter what the issue is. It doesn't matter. You are not going to change their mind. You are not going to win them over to your side if you pummel their ego and tear them down and embarrass them and berate them.
You will never win someone to your side. You may win the argument. You may win the argument. You may feel real good about yourself that you came out on top, but you, you, you lost the other person.
And I promise you, even if you won the argument, you didn't change their mind. You didn't bring them over to your side. They may have nothing to say, but they didn't change their mind. You may feel right, but they didn't change their mind.
You've not come to a collaborative solution. You've not come to a compromise. You maybe have beat them into the ground and they've gotten defensive.
