FAQ: The Real Reason Why Witches Wear Black

Oh, hey guys! Long time no chat, right? It's been a while. Sorry I took an unexpected... Hey! The holiday season is super busy in my household because my son's birthday is the 20th, and my mother's birthday is also the 20th. And there's like, Yule and Christmas. My husband's birthday is the 27th, and my mother-in-law comes to stay with us for that week, so which is busy.

But I thought I'd come back with frequently asked questions because I received so many of the same questions last month that I was just like, "Let me make a video!" So some of those people will see the video and then their questions will be asked.

First question: My forehead looks so shiny. The first question is, why do witches wear black? So, there are lots of speculations as to why witches wear black, but the original reason, or what I believe to be the original reason, is because black attracts energy, right? Black attracts any energy that's around you. I think anything that's buzzing, anything that's alive, is producing energy, and that energy can be attracted by the color black.

Now, your mom was always like, "Don't wear black in the summertime because you're gonna be hot," because black attracts heat. When is heat energy? Exactly! Exactly. Science high-five! That is why witches wear black. Witches that wear black will also wear black tourmaline to soak up any of the negative energy that's coming toward you because it is just soaking up everything. So anything that's going to protect you from the negative things that you're soaking up is great to wear if you're wearing all black as a witch.

A lot of witches wear all white as well to just be projecting light and love from them toward other people. I do sometimes wear black if I'm doing drawing rituals or if I'm going out into the world and I'm seeking some sort of energy.

Okay, so I get this question a lot about building up a spell or why you do a spell for three days or for the entire month leading up to the full moon. During a full moon, energy is at its highest, at its peak. The moon is closer to the earth, so the earth is being greatly affected by the moon the most at this time. Wonderful time for the crescendo of your matter to hit that point right on the full moon.

So if you have already been gathering... someone's messaging me. If you have a spell that you know you want to do on the full moon, it's great to gather all of your information that you need, all of your products, all of your supplies during the month leading up to the full moon. If you're going to be saying words during the full moon, write those words now so that you can practice them, so that you can say them without having to read paper on the full moon day. And you can set up your altar for that spell already, and you can go to the altar every day and kind of set your intention for that altar, and then do your spell on the full moon. So that energy you've been building up from when you thought about it all the way to the day when you're doing it, so it has a lot of energy surrounding it.

You do not have to do that, however. You can do a spell on the spot if you feel like you need it. You can do a three-day spell. Say you're doing like, uh, doing like a healing spell, and to do this spell for three days. Like I said before, three is a magic number in all magic. So you could do part of the spell on your first day, and go back into the second part on a second day, and then finish it on the third day. A lot of times, if you're doing a full moon spell, you can do it that way: the day before the full moon, the day of the full moon, the day after, because you do get those three days surrounding where the moon is still very close and very full. Or you can simply do the same spell three days in a row just to build up that power and to make it extra strong.

This is something that is up to you. If you're like, "Oh, I feel like this needs to be a three-day spell," then make it a three-day spell. If you don't feel like it has to be, it doesn't have to be. Everything about your magic and the spells that you were doing is up to you. It's up to you. So I can tell you, "Yeah, make that a three-day spell." It doesn't mean I'm right. It just means it's in my opinion. It's up to your intuition. It's not for you to reach into yourself and say, "Okay, how do I really feel like this spell has to plan out? It has to go." And I'm gonna say, "Plan out." If you feel like you need a "bam bam," you're gonna write it down, say "BAM!" clap your hands, play some drums, do a little dance for ghosts, wrinkles, wrinkle, and you're done. Then that's what you need. You know what you need. You did. You know.

Okay, do you need to cast a circle every time you do a spell? So again, up to you. A circle is just to protect you. You're casting a circle to protect you, what you're doing, to protect your space. And if you're doing something, you know, a little crazy, it's to protect anybody else who's outside of your circle, just to cue the energy away from them. You feel like you need to protect your space and what you're doing with their protection circles, then absolutely cast a circle. That's literally what the circle is for.

If you're like, "Doing a spell on the go," say you're doing one of those, "Who's walking down the street and you just want to like, you know, quickly whisper something, whisper some intention or something like that," you don't have to stop and cast a circle to do that. If you feel like you need a circle of protection and also to surprise that up within yourself, you can pull the energy from yourself. Bam, bam, make your circle. You don't have to walk in a circle with your wand and do the pony pointing. You can just build it up with their own energy. So much about magic is up to how you feel about it and what feels right to you. If you're doing something and it doesn't feel like it's coming from you, it's coming through your heart, if you like, you're forcing some kind of thing to go on, that's not right. It's not right for you, and that's okay. It's real. It's fine. Go with how you feel. Go with your bubble guts.

Do I have to have magic tools to do this spell? You do not have crystals or candles or herbs or wands or whatever. It's okay. You can literally do a spell with pen and paper. We can even do it without anything. You can just build up the intention, know what you want in your heart, in your mind, set a picture of it very vividly in your mind, pray for it, think about it all the time, add up all the details about it. Really, you don't need to have lots of fancy tools or crystals or anything. You can manifest what you want with your own sheer will. It's true. You really can.

A lot of people like to use physical tools like crystals and herbs and little baggies and have an altar, have a sacred space because that is something that builds up the power. It builds up the energy. Just by buying these things or by making these things, it's you putting more of your time and more of your intention into an item, and so it does make it more powerful. The more time you spend on it and the more of yourselves that you put into it. It's, you know, you don't have to use any kind of tools. If you are trying to follow a tradition that does use tools, then you do need to use tools. It really just depends on the situation. It depends on what kind of spell you're doing. It depends on how you feel. Like I said, I'll say it 8 million more times: know how you feel, boo.

So, what took my first spell be? So, my eyelash situation is itchy. I will always say a protection spell. I get this question 15 times a day. Your first spell should be a protection spell because after you start learning and getting into everything else, you're opening yourself up to the energies that are gonna be drawn toward you, and you want to make sure that you are protected spiritually. I did a protection spell on this channel. I'll do like a really simple protection spell without any tools as well. It's very easy just to build up your bubble of protection within your own energy. Picture what it looks like, what it feels like, what it smells like, and boom, put it around yourself. But yes, I would definitely say do a protection spell before you do anything else with magic.

And that last question, which is another really big one: Can I be a witch if I'm Christian? Can I be Christian if I'm a witch? Yes. Magic is a practice. It's something that anyone can do. It's something what people do all the time without even knowing it. It's not a religion. Wicca and some other forms of paganism are religions. So you follow that religion, you follow that Pantheon, you follow those gods, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. To be a witch or to be someone who practices magic, you can be whatever religion you want. You don't have to have a religion at all. You can be a theist and be a witch. You can do anything. You can be a president and be a witch. You can be a governor and be a witch. Why am I going political? I don't even know. Any a gardener witch? Oh, which really means I don't usually use the term "witch" when I'm talking about myself because it does have negative connotations, and if you care about that sort of thing, then, you know, just think about it. For me, being a witch or being someone who practices magic, it's just that. It's just that you're just someone who practices magic. You didn't go to church, and you can believe in God and worship God and do everything that you want to do, and still, you know, go home and just put some poppy seeds on top of a candle and draw, and then that's your spell. Spells are just like prayers done with more tools. That's it. They are the same thing.

I'm a firm believer that most spiritual paths all lead to the same thing. They're just called something different, or people use different tools, or they wear different clothing, make different language. We've been so divided as a people that we don't recognize the fact that all of our spiritual beliefs are basically the same because we live in different countries, and there are language barriers and cultural barriers, and we just don't know. As well as just a prayer with tools, you don't have to worship any other gods if you don't want to. You can literally do your spell, get all your stuff ready, get your herbs, get your spices, get everything, lay your candle, and just start praying straight to Jesus. I mean, it's, you really get fine. You can. Doing magic isn't evil unless you want it to be, or unless you're like an evil person and this is what you're doing. Doing magic is just using the tools that are here, placed on Earth for you to heal yourself, to heal other people, to help make yourself happy, and to manifest whatever it is that you want. Anything that you're using in magic comes from Earth, right?

So, okay, so that's all I want to talk about today, guys. I just wanted to jump back in with a quick FAQ because I didn't get so many questions while I was taking my little time off. I will be back on Wednesday with another video about how to protect yourself from a toxic ex or a toxic relationship, how to break a love spell, and how to heal yourself from a breakup, which I think is super important. I have loads and loads of videos planned for the rest of 2019. So thank you so much to all my new subscribers, and thank you guys for being with me. Thank you for learning from me and emailing me and just like being cool, you know? You guys are really great. I just couldn't ask for a better group of followers. You guys are so supportive and nice, and I love you guys. So have a beautiful day. Happy New Year. Glad to see she's out.
