Hello everybody. So today we have a video that I saw probably a couple months ago. Um, I don't have much time for this channel, so I'm just going to make this today. I guess uh, today might be a few weeks from when this is released. So I don't I have no idea.
But anyway, um, so there was a pastor that talked to some elders, some missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Um, or the Mormons, if you're not LDS and you're watching this, can call us that, I guess, if you want. Um, anyway, so this pastor has this conversation with them on his doorstep, records it with his Ring. I know that Ring is always recording, so I'm not like implying that he recorded it, but um, he could have easily invited them into his house and had this conversation. Just saying. Just saying. Okay.
But I took some notes and there's a few spots that kind of lead me to believe that this pastor lied to these missionaries. And when I say that, this is a common thing that we see. And I'll show you where. First of all, let's get off on the uh, the first, let's start with the first um, clip here. My air is going to turn on, but I'm just going to keep recording because I don't know. I don't have time for perfection. So, all right.
>> Yeah. Do you guys know like the biggest differences between Mormonism and Christianity? Though I know Mormonism.
>> Mormonism and Christianity. We're Christians. Uh, you can say I'm not. I don't care. It doesn't bother me at all. I'm a Christian. You guys are just rude. That's what it comes down to. Christians and Mormonism, you know? I mean, whatever.
>> Morism.
>> Oh, by the way, I'm I know that we're known for being nice, and I in general, I am pretty nice. I'm a little more carassed than most LDS people. And so, I'm not your typical. So, I don't know what to say. I'm not going to apologize for me being myself. So, if you don't like it, then move on. All right.
>> You guys would probably include it in that umbrella. Christianity.
>> Oh yeah. Jesus Christ is central to everything we do.
>> Mhm.
>> We represent him. We wear our name on his chest and our end goal is to become Christlike.
>> Yeah.
>> To gain his attributes, his love to treat others just as he taught. Yeah.
>> And to do those things. So.
>> Yeah.
>> Now we the world likes to separate us because of that because of false interpretations and understandings that Jesus Christ is completely essential to everything to do.
See this missionary is really good. He's he's kind of cuz he's kind of combating what he said. You know, the differences between Christianity and Mormonism and uh, he's going into, you know, there's a lot of false interpretations of what we actually believe. And that is very true. Uh, if you want to really know what we believe, talk to us, not about us. And I mean, you can talk about us, but everyone usually just talks smack on us. And anyway, but I I'm glad that he's like laying it out like yeah, you probably heard some wrong stuff.
>> You know, he is the gospel of Jesus Christ.
>> I know you carry the Book of Mormon, but you don't carry.
>> You have the. Okay, you do. King James.
>> We carry the missionaries carry the Book of Mormon to give it away because we assume everyone has a Bible. We have Bibles. So, I don't know what he's trying to get at here.
>> The. Okay, you do. King James. Okay.
>> We will love rever the Bible. the word of God. I read out of it every day and I I know it's the word of God.
All right. So, that Yeah, that was the first clip, right? I mean, already you can just see that this pastor is, in my opinion, looking for a fight or at least a wrestle of some sort. And so, I don't know what kind of joy you guys get out of being ridiculous like this, but it is what it is, and we got to deal with it all the time. All right, moving on to the next one.
>> The Quran and the Book of Mormon is because God's word will never contradict what God has already revealed.
Okay, so comparing the Book of Mormon to the Quran could not be a worse comparison ever. The Quran is basically what a guy named Muhammad thought that God was telling him. The Book of Mormon is writings from ancient prophets. And if you don't believe it, then Joseph Smith made it up. If that's what you believe. But we believe that ancient prophets wrote these things. It was is a lot of it's like just the happenings of things and how God directed them. Completely different texts. If you wanted to make more of a comparison to the Quran, you could maybe compare it to the Doctrine and Covenants. That might be a more comparable comparison, a more usable comparison or logical comparison because those are revelations that were given to Joseph Smith, whereas the Quran is full of revelations that were given to Muhammad. It It's such a dumb comparison. Just stop using it. It is so dumb. Like you bring it up and our and and just the tired part of our brains just just oh my gosh, we get so sick of addressing these dumb these dumb things. Anyway, moving on.
>> And what I understand and you can correct me if I'm wrong. So I'm just.
>> Share share what you know I'm here to learn. Uh, we we respect it.
>> Yeah. So and it's a joy to be able to talk through this with you guys. So these missionaries have a lot more patience than me. I am also in my 40s and I've lost a lot of the patience that I had when I was doing the same thing. I probably would have acted the same way, but you guys don't stop. 40 years for me. Well, maybe not 40, like 30, you know. I probably I know I was trying to preach and help my friends in like high school and junior high and stuff, but you know. Anyway, moving on. Let's let's keep going with this clip.
Um, it's my understanding that you guys, the Book of Mormon actually says there's like three layers of heaven, right? There's like highest, the middle, the lowest. This guy clearly has not read the Book of Mormon. Clearly, yes, we have a doctrine of I guess you call it heaven. Um, yeah, it's there's three degrees of glory. Hey, it's part of our plan of salvation that that we understand how things are going to work, you know, after this life. Uh, he's addressing that and saying that it's in the Book of Mormon. It does not come from the Book of Mormon. It is not in the Book of Mormon. Uh, it's in other writings. We we we're not a solos scriptor uh faith. We believe in modern prophets and modern revelation. So this guy already one doesn't know what he's talking about and two has not read the Book of Mormon. Let's keep going.
>> The highest uh which is given to the most devout and faithful to the the temple, right? The most devout and faithful to the temple.
I don't know. I don't know. I just get tired because I feel like this has been explained so many times yet there's so many people that are just lazy. It's it's just laziness. If you're not if you're not actually seeking what we believe, if you're just pulling from anti-Mormon literature and not looking into it, it's laziness. It is pure laziness. So, yes, we make covenants in the temple. That is that is the the way that we we accept or you know, we accept the atonement of Christ. The atonement the grace of Jesus Christ is a gift that we need to say yes, I want to do that. Yeah. I want to follow you Jesus. And part of that is living covenants that we make in the temple. That easy. And he they always tried to turn this into a you're you're a works-based salvation blah blah blah. It's like no, I mean, you can keep saying that and you can keep twisting what we're saying into oh, that's a work. No, Jesus did all the work. We just accept that work through covenants. It's it's not hard to understand unless you're trying not to understand it. All right, let's go.
And what do you call the practices that you have to go through.
>> Like ordinances.
>> Ordinances work temples ordinances, right?
>> And again, you don't have to go through these. It's a choice to go through them just like it's a choice not to believe in Jesus. Like for evangelicals, people make that choice all the time. They have to make the choice to follow him. We just believe that the covenants are part of that choice, plain and simple. All right, let's go to the next one. Now, I I cut these up like a week ago and so it is kind of new seeing it again. I remember them as I'm watching them, but.
>> A lot of it actually comes out of what this is in the Bible. Um, you know, the saber speaks of, you know, many mansions.
>> Father Paul speaks of.
>> Oh, yeah. I think like right before this clip, he like asked. Oh. Oh, yeah. So, this was like right after maybe there was a few seconds in between that I cut out. So this is a good explanation by this elder. Like even though so we believe this stuff was revealed to us through the prophet Joseph Smith uh and and various revelations that he had. There's remnants of it in the Bible. And so, you know, we point to that being like, I mean, technically you can call it biblical and a lot of evangelicals don't like that, but you can. Ha. Anyway, let's keep going.
>> Bodies terrestrial, bodies celestial, other things like that.
>> Well, well, Revelation only talks about like Revelation 22, the new heavens and new earth.
>> Yeah.
>> Um, there's only one new heavens, only one new earth, and it says that all the righteous will sing the song of the land.
Okay. When I cut this together, I went and read Revelations 22, and there was there wasn't anything in there. I think maybe he's referencing a different chapter. Uh, maybe chapter 14 or something, but um, even then I don't agree that it's saying what he's saying that it's saying. I think you have to stretch the words quite a bit to get to where he's saying this. I don't know. Go read it for yourself and you come uh, read Revelations 14 and re read Revelations 22. See if you can find it in there. I I don't think it's saying what he's saying.
>> Can't say.
>> In the new heavens and new earth when Christ comes to establish his kingdom. So it seems like there's only one esqueological state where all of creation is remade and that's what Romans 8 says that right now creation groans and why does creation groan.
And I read that too about the about the earth groaning and again, like this chapter does not say what it he's saying that it says. Again, this was a week ago that I read it. I probably should have read it before I started recording, but I didn't. Um, but I read it like three times and I'm and I just recall like this this is not saying anything about the like after the second coming. Like it's talking about the earth groaning from like from the sins and stuff of us. Again, it was like a week ago. Maybe I took some notes. Let me see. I did not take notes. And if I did, I can't read them because these are all just timestamps from where I need to where I thought things were interesting. So, I should probably be better at making these in the future.
>> As creation groans because we live in a fallen world and we're awaiting the restoration of all things. Um.
>> Yeah. Yeah. I mean, we live in a fallen world and the earth groans. Uh, he's saying creation groans. I don't, you know, whatever. Um, I don't see how that proves his point that there's not many mansions like Jesus says. Um, yeah, might interpret what many mansions means differently. That would be a better way to approach this, but yeah. Okay. So, the next clip, let's see what this one is.
But yeah, that being said, help me understand the God component because that is the one where you know the Bible's very clear um that there's only one God.
>> Right? Yeah. We we worship only one God. However, a lot of the interpretations of scriptures specifically in the Old Testament that that mention that are misunderstood from what their original meaning was. And I'm not saying that it's okay to worship other gods because it's not. We don't believe that. But the ancient Hebrews believed that other gods existed. And so when the Lord says there's only there is no other god beside me, uh, he's talking about like to them to the Israelites, I'm your God. There's no other god for you than me. And there's also an idiom that's in there that's being referenced that uh, is a boasting idiom like kind of like when Babylon's like there is no other um, there's no other city beside me. Of course, there are other cities beside Babylon, but it's the best, right? And so I I think this what comes of proof texting the scriptures and not looking at them in the uh, in their original meaning, right? Trying to figure out what the Israelite Israelites understood that to mean. Um, anyway, next clip.
>> I like to think about is if you want to learn trigonometry, you got to first go through the basics of math. Um, and so with that, I think those different interpretations like.
So he's talking about how, you know, they just needs to understand he he's kind of alluding to what I just said, like they need they need to really look at those things from the perspective of the Israelites. And so, um, yeah. So next clip.
>> You.
>> Do with like Deuteronomy 6 though like here O Israel the Lord your God is one.
>> Well, so we would see the interpretation of one to be different that they're one in purpose and like for like for example, if you go to like John 17, what Jesus Christ is praying to the father, he speaks about how him and the father are one and that he's praying that the apostles as well as us can be one.
And this missionary is doing a great job. He's doing a good job at, you know, explaining how their interpretation of one is different. And when you actually look at the the Greek, our interpretation fits. Sorry. But, you know, that's fine. And he's going to explain right here too, like, uh, I'll just go back a little bit.
>> And that he's praying that the apostles as well as us can be one with Jesus Christ, just like how he's one with the father. And so he's not saying that him and the father are one, but he's inviting us to be one in purpose, in faith, unity with them.
But Colossians 1 says that Jesus is the image of the.
>> They never take the context of the chapter. They always have to take context from somewhere else that they think it's called proof texting. It's it's the only way that they can prove the trinity. And in my opinion, it still doesn't prove that the Trinity is what God is. And so he's going to proof text a bunch here and probably Gish Gallop. Let's keep watching.
>> Image of the invisible God singular. It doesn't say he's another god. You don't see um, because that would that would that would essentially be polytheism, right? Where you have God the Father who's a god. You have God the Son who's a god. And you have God the Spirit who's a god. And so if you have three different gods, that's actually polytheism. That's that's multiple gods rather than the declaration of scripture is that there's only one Lord. There's only one God and that beside him there is no other. So like how do you like would you consider yourself to be a polytheist where you believe in three different three different gods?
Like I don't know. It just seems like he's trying to be rude at this point. Uh, I don't know. Maybe it's just because I've heard this explained so many times and I I don't think these are genuine questions. So, let's see how this elder reacts.
>> Three different gods.
>> I don't know what the proper term would be for it. And that's, you know, we could sit here all day, right, and go through different scriptures and debate.
And so, now the elder, he's he's not trying to change the subject. He just knows that it doesn't matter at this point. He can explain that uh, I mean, yeah, technically that's three gods, but they function as one god. They are one what three who's, you know, and so he can explain that, but it's just this never ends with you guys. You don't take you don't take our answers and say, "Oh, okay. Well, that's your opinion." You know, you just sit there and then you come up with scripture after scripture, out of context, scripture, out of scripture, out of scripture, and try to prove your point. Do some mic drop thing. And that's the problem I have here. This pastor could have just didn't he instead of he knows he has a Ring camera. He could have just invited them in for a discussion. And that shows you where this pastor's heart was. He is not a good faith actor in this. Let's keep going.
>> Right. Neither one of us.
Um, and so what we're here to do, our entire purpose at the end of the day as full-time representatives and missionaries is to invite people um to prayerfully study the Book of Mormon.
>> Right? That's their purpose. We know that you read the Bible. Yeah, we have some disagreements on the interpretation, but we have other scriptures that we want to share with you and we want you to prove them. Prove these spirits like the Bible asks, tells you to prove them. See if they are the same gospel. All right. Now, let's get to this last clip here.
>> I guess have you read the Book of Mormon before?
>> I have. Yeah. Let's go over that one more time.
>> It's my understanding that you guys, the Book of Mormon actually says there's like three layers of heaven, right? There's like the highest, the middle, the lowest. This guy clearly has not read the Book of Mormon.
>> I guess have you read the Book of Mormon before?
>> I have. I have.
>> I guess have you read the Book of Mormon?
>> I have. Yeah. And I I struggle with with things on like the the workspace stuff that it has in there about.
Okay, I'm just going to stop right there. No, you haven't. Why do you have to lie? I don't understand it. You have not read the Book of Mormon. Maybe you've read a script like a not a scripture, a a verse or two or maybe a a verse or two has been given to you in some anti-LDDS pamphlet, but you have not read the Book of Mormon. I do not believe it. I believe this pastor lied. That's all I really got to say. Stop lying. Read the Book of Mormon. Pray about it. You don't need to lie. I'm done.
One more thing I just need to mention. I'm only one Latter-day Saint. There are millions of us out there. Not all of them act like me. Not all of them think like me. We have variation on thoughts even even on like on our opinions on our own doctrine. We have variations on it. Technically, you can be a trinitarian and be LDS. We don't hold people to a standard of that's where your salvation lies. We believe that your salvation lies in following Jesus Christ. Anyway, so I just need to say that I I might be a little a little more quirky. No, we're all quirky. We're all pretty quirky. But I'm I might be I don't know, a little more irreverent than than other LDS people. Uh, but you know, if I offend anyone, go talk to a different LDS person. We have plenty of nice LDS people. Anyway, have a good day.
