These are 33 new YouTube settings that you probably have turned on right now that are keeping you stuck under 1,000 subscribers.

The first setting is publish to subscription feed and notify subscribers. What this does is essentially it pushes your content out to your existing subscriber base. But if you're testing a new style or type of content on your channel, this can really really hurt your video and it can actually make it so that the YouTube algorithm thinks that you posted a bad video even if the video was great.

Because what the YouTube algorithm does is it sends out your videos to your audience first, right? And let's say that you're testing a new concept or you're posting a video that might be a little bit different that doesn't relate to your current audience. Well, if you don't have this checked off, it will push it out to your current subscribers. They probably won't watch it or not a lot of them will click on it because it's a different kind of video and it's going to make your content perform much worse because YouTube will see that your current subscribers aren't liking it and it'll think the video is bad.

So, if you turn this off, it will just push it out to brand new people and none of your existing audience base. And this allows you to post whatever videos you want on your channel.

The next setting is no, it's not made for kids. So, a lot of people what they think is, "Oh, let's change it to yes, it's made for kids because kids can watch my videos. My videos are just educational, right? I don't swear on them. I don't using any vulgar language, so they put it yes, made for kids." But if your content is not just meant for kids, meaning adults can enjoy it, too. Then you want to click no because if this is selected, YouTube will push this video out to only kids because there's two types of YouTube. There's kids YouTube and then adult YouTube. So, you want to make sure that it's going to adult YouTube.

The next is age restriction. You never want to restrict your videos over 18. Even if they are meant for people over 18, you want to let anyone watch your content because if you do this, YouTube's going to think that you've maybe said something bad in the video and it's going to not push it out to as many people. So, always select no, don't restrict my video unless there's like extremely graphic content in the video.

The next thing that you're going to want to do is turn off the automatic chapters. Right now, YouTube's AI is just not that good. So, what automatic chapters are is YouTube is essentially using AI to go through and try to break up your video into different sections. So, it's telling, "Oh, this section is about this. This next section is about this." And normally the AI just doesn't do a very good job. So, it can lead to just random things being on your video. It obviously looks very messy and people will likely click off.

And the next is featured places because these will essentially target your videos to a local location. So, what a feature place is, let's say you go to a famous cafe, right, in the video. Let's say that the video is not even about that cafe, but you just go, it's going to tag that location in the description. And that is not good because then it's going to actually localize that audience to that place even if the video had nothing to do with it. So you want to turn that one off as well.

Next is automatic concepts. So with this one, it's essentially trying to define unfamiliar terms without them leaving the video. So it's defining different words that you're saying in the video, which is just absolutely useless. Frankly, if you're saying words that need to be defined by AI, you probably need to simplify your language anyway. So, as long as you're not using some crazy crazy scientific language, then you can just turn that one right off.

The next is that you want to turn off altered content. So, this is essentially asking if you are AI in the video. And definitely don't say yes. Even if you do use some AI in the video, let's say I post a video talking about a certain AI tool or something like that or I use ChattyP in the video or I wrote the script with AI, that does not count as altered content. Don't check this because it's essentially going to limit the reach of your video. So, just check that off.

The next is creative common. So under license, you'll see you have standard YouTube license. If you change that to creative comments, what that essentially means is that anyone can use your work. So somebody else gets permission to use your work, right? This is a video that you've created. If someone just copies your video exactly one for one, they just download it off YouTube, upload it, and they get more views than you, they're going to reap all the benefits of that video, and you are not. So I would recommend turning that one off. Keep it the standard YouTube license. That's really all you need.

The next setting that you want to change is actually very interesting. You want to essentially add a playlist when you're creating a new playlist. What you want to do is you want to give viewers a path. You want to title your playlist. So let's say start here. And then your description is going to look something like this. Then what you're going to do is you're going to go ahead and add videos. So if you're an educational channel, what you're going to want to do is you're first going to want to add a video that is about you. Unfortunately, I don't have like a story video on here, so I'm going to skip that one for now. But what I can do is I can go ahead and add the second one, which is a longer course. So we fortunately have a free YouTube course. So, I can go to this video right here. I can drop this one in first. And I can go ahead and keep this as the first one. And the next video after that, you're just going to want to add your favorite videos. So, I'll go ahead and add some of my favorites here. So, this one right here, 1,000 subscribers. This is a little bit longer in-depth video for me. So, I think that would be valuable for people. Basically, you just want to add your videos in the order that you think would be most valuable for that person to watch them through. So, that's pretty much it. I'll add a few more here and that will be done. Add one video about storytelling. Okay, baked. So, I got like six videos here. That's perfect. That's a great order to watch in. So, amazing.

Let's go back and look through our channel. So, on the homepage, what you want, you want to add a trailer here. Usually, this is something either that you're selling or something that you're giving away for free. For example, right here, what I have is I go ahead and give away my course for free. That's what I'm giving away for free so people can get access to my completely free course, right? Then I get them to join a school group where they can get access to that course in. Right? So we have a full YouTube course and boom, you can get access to this too completely for free. No strings attached. We have our for you videos. So let's go ahead and edit this right now. So we want to go on our home tab and you want to set the channel trailer to whatever video you want to drive to. Same thing for returning subscribers.

The next thing that you want to do, you want to delete this. If you have shorts, you can just remove this section. You don't want those shorts on your channel. There's no point in putting your shorts on the front page. People should find your shorts after they watch your long form videos. So, you want to start off with your videos. I'm also going to remove the for you. You don't want YouTube to kind of do any of this. Like, you just want to remove all of them. And I can remove this, too. Remove. And I want to start and add a section. And I want to start with that start here. So, we're going to do single playlist. Go ahead and drop that. And then you just drop all your videos down there. That's perfect. So, that's the best way. Also, if you have different serieses, let's say you have like a podcast, you can do start here and then you can have podcast. or let's say you're running a business channel, you could do start here and then you have case studies at the bottom, right? Different clients that you've helped. So that's the simplest and best way to actually do your homepage.

The next thing that you're going to want to do is actually go on your channel and you're going to want to put your country of residence wherever you reside. Preferably, actually wherever you want to target. So for example, I actually don't live in the United States, right? I actually live in Thailand, but I don't really want Thai viewers. No offense, I love Thai people to death, but most of my content is made for people in America. I'm not speaking Thai in my videos, so I want to have United States as my country of residence. And then in the keywords, this is something that a lot of people get wrong. They fill them out with 500 keywords. The only thing that you need is like one to three keywords that tell YouTube who to send your videos to. If you give YouTube too many tags to send your videos to all these different people, it's going to confuse the algorithm. So, I keep it very simple and I just have one keyword and YouTube sends my content directly to these people.

The next thing that you're going to want to change is your video watermark. So, if you go down here and you scroll down to the bottom, you can upload a watermark right here. And what I like to do is I simply like to just keep this very, very simple. So, I like to put it as my logo. So, I can literally just do it right here. I can drop this logo in here, which is our Amplify Views logo. And now, it's going to have this in the corner. And you can leave this in the entire video because it just gives people another option to subscribe. Don't put it at the end of the video. Drop it right there.

The next setting that you're going to want to change is your banner. So, this is a very, very important one. You essentially want to change your banner to something that is showing the dream outcome of the people watching your content. So right here, as you can see, I have like the YouTube graph and it's growing over time, right? The people who watch my channel want to grow on YouTube. Then I have this silver play buttons in here. So 100,000 subscribers and then I have our logo in here right now. So So instantly when somebody comes on this channel, they know it's about YouTube growth. They're seeing the YouTube graph go up and they're seeing the silver play button. So if they want to be part of that, then they can just go ahead and subscribe, right? I also have this little thing in here that says subscribe and it helps more and more people subscribe. So it can either be something like this that demonstrates the dream outcome or it can be something very simple just like a oneline mission statement. For example, my mission statement is I'm on a mission to take a,000 people to over 100,000 subscribers. So I could literally just write that right here and it's going to do very very well because people will resonate with the mission and they'll go ahead and subscribe.

The next is your profile photo. Your profile photo should not look cheap. You need a good high quality profile photo and you want it to essentially be you and either just looking professional if you're like more of a business education channel. You looking fun if you're more of a entertainment channel or you showing the dream outcome of the people who are watching your channel. So for me, I'm holding up a 100,000 subscriber plaque showing that I've grown channels to 100,000 subscribers before. And this essentially builds credibility. So when somebody comes on our channel, they know that, oh, this guy has done it before. He knows what he's talking about. So, it's a very very good way to just build more trust with the audience and get more people to subscribe.

The next thing that you want to do is essentially change all of your descriptions. So, let's go to like this video right here, just a random one of our videos. And what you can see is that first things first, I have different CTAs. So, your description should always start with a CTA, whether that's just telling people to subscribe or that's pushing people to a different product or service that you may sell, right? For example, we sell a book that teaches you how to get to 100,000 subscribers in the fastest way possible in 2025. And then we also help business owners blow up their YouTube channel as well. So we have those two CTAs first. Then what we have is we have a oneline description. There's a lost art of YouTube storytelling. Here's how you master it. How to master the out of YouTube storytelling. Usually it's very very similar to your title. And this is just used for SEO purposes and telling YouTube that you know this is what your video is about. Then you can add any other secondary CTAs like this is the CTA to our free course. And then you want to add some timestamps. And with your timestamps there's a very specific way to do them. You essentially want to create curiosity. So at 00 the lost art of YouTube storytelling, people are going to wonder, okay, what is the lost art of YouTube storytelling? At 047, story is not what you think. People are going to wonder, okay, what is it if it's not what I think? So you essentially want to just create a lot of curiosity here.

The last thing that I see not a lot of people actually doing is having hashtags in their YouTube videos. I like to do one hashtag, #YouTube growth. And what that does is it just tells YouTube, hey, send this video out to all the people who are interested in YouTube growth. 1.7 million videos, 339,000 channels. And as you can see, a lot of the videos that are up here on this tag right here have gotten a lot of views. So, it's just another way to get extra views on your videos, and I don't see a lot of people doing that.

But to save you time, you should use this YouTube setting that I don't see a lot of people taking advantage of. And it's literally just go into settings, go into upload defaults, and drop your description in here. You don't actually need to write it every single time. I have mine completely planned out with all of our CTAs and everything. Then I just write that oneline description, and then I'm done, right? I drop in the title, video is set as unlisted, and then I have all my channel tags here. And with the actual video tags, it's a bit different than your channel tags. These ones you do want to add more, right? So, I almost have the max word count and I just have stuff about how to start on YouTube. Notice it's all kind of about the same thing. But what this is good for is good for SEO. So, if somebody searches how to go viral on YouTube, it would help my video come up before other videos, right? Assuming that they don't do that. Map out your tags. Think about what are the common things that people search and then drop them in there.

The next is just making sure your video is set as unlisted. You don't need to set it public direct from upload. I like to take it from unlisted to public. Not a huge deal, but just a setting that I find very useful.

The next one on here under advanced settings is disable interestbased ads. This one you want to keep unchecked because what this does, this allows YouTube to advertise on your videos. And if you check this off, they're not going to run ads, which means that they make way less money and they are much less likely to push your videos out to a million people, right? So, always leave this unchecked. Let YouTube make their money. Once you're monetized, you'll be making money from it as well. So, there's no need to disable this. It's not going to affect your retention at all. and it's a good setting to leave unchecked.

So, the next one is don't show potentially inappropriate words, which I just like to leave unchecked. I find the video does better if you just let YouTube do their thing. You don't interfere with it.

The next thing is the Google Ads account linking. So, this one, you almost never want to do this. This is a huge thing, and a lot of business owners make this mistake. If you're going to run ads on YouTube, you should run ads on a separate YouTube account. Don't run it on your main YouTube account because then YouTube's going to see you're spending money to get views and they're going to think, "Okay, let's not give this guy views because he's spending a lot of money. We don't want to lose that. So, just don't run ads in the beginning. I know it's tempting, but it's better to just take the time, learn how to grow organically.

And the next setting is actually clips. Allow viewers to clip my content. This is actually very good because what it allows people to do is essentially make short form content of your content. And it essentially just allows you to get way more views without doing any extra work because people are able to make your content themselves and take your content and clip it up and share with more people, right? Which is an amazing thing.

The next thing that you want to do when you're uploading a video, you want to essentially make sure that your category is set to the proper thing. So whether you're making entertainment content or educational content, you're going to want to set that. Those are really the two that I find are the most applicable. You don't really want to do any of the other ones cuz there's just not a lot of like search traffic on these other ones except for gaming. If you're doing a gaming channel, that's going to be good. But other than that, like autos and vehicles, realistically, if you're making a video about how to fix a car, make it education. it's going to get more views and it's going to perform better.

The next thing is under all of these things, I really just leave them blank. You don't really need to do anything here. Just let YouTube figure it out. Their algorithm is one of the most advanced in the world and they know who to send it to. So, you don't need to try to force them to send it to someone who, you know, they might find a better audience than you can to where they'll probably find a better audience than you can.

The best time to actually upload your content, and you can actually see this right here from our video that's about to go live right now. It's scheduled to go live at 10:45 p.m., which actually I'm in Thailand, so I'm flipped 12 hours with CST. So, this is 12:45 a.m. Eastern time. And with that, I always like to post on either a 15-minute interval or a 45minut interval. So, either 10:15 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 11:15, 11:45, etc., etc. Usually, I find posting in the morning works the best. So, that's what I typically try to do. But, you want to do it on a 15-minute interval. And the reason why is because how YouTube works is when you post a video, they'll send it and they'll compare it to all the other similar videos that were posted at the exact same time as yours. And if yours has better CTR, better AVD, better metrics and analytics overall, then they're going to push that video out compared to the other ones, which they will cut. They'll stop them from going viral. If you're posting at a 15-inute interval, less people are posting at that time, which means that you have less competition on your video, which means that you can technically get away with having a little bit less good CTR, a little bit less good AVD, and still have the video perform very well. So, it just gives it a little bit of boost there. The same amount of people watch YouTube at 10 versus 10:45. There's no difference. So, better to post on a 15-minute interval.

And the next thing that you're going to want to do when you're uploading a short is add a related video. So, whenever you have a short, the goal of your short form should be to drive back to a long form video. So, I could drive it back to this one, right? How I made 5003,000 in a year from YouTube, right? What you can do is essentially drive every single short form piece of content back to your long form. And that's going to get you more subscribers. It's going to get you more of the right subscribers as well, not just short form subscribers. You want long- form subscribers mainly on your YouTube channel, unless you're purely a shorts YouTube channel, but for majority of people watching this, I'm assuming you are not. So, you always want to drive back to a related video. And I wouldn't post a lot of shorts if you're not posting a lot of long form. I would post two short form pieces of content for every one long form video that you post.

And the final thing is your end screen. So what you're going to want to do is go to your video, go to end screen, and then select an actual video. So the best way to actually do an outro is to call out, hey, watch this video next if you want to learn X, Y, and Z thing. So you're actually telling them what they are going to get from that next video. That's going to make you have a much higher amount of people who go to that next video, which is going to make your video do better in the algorithm. So, I basically tell people in this part, hey, if you want my free 6-h hour YouTube course that'll show you how to grow to 100,000 subscribers, click right here. Boom. And so, what that does is I can actually use it and I when I'm filming, I point to this video even though it's not there. I look pretty dumb in my studio just pointing at nothing. But when it comes together in the YouTube studio, it allows me to do this and that allows me to get more people watching my content, which is the ultimate goal. And if you want to get that course completely free, no strings attached, go ahead and click right here and I will show you the entire process of getting 100,000 subscribers in 2025. Thanks and have a great day.
