The sixth question: "Is there anything that remains after a person dies? What happens to this remaining thing when a person dies with a heart full of longing and regret?" "Is there anything that remains after a person dies? What happens to this remaining thing when a person dies with a heart full of longing and regret?" I don't quite understand what this "remaining thing" is? Is there anything that remains after a person dies? —That is the real question, isn't it, sir? No? Do you want to talk about death? Shall we talk about it? Are you interested? Probably not interested, are you? Are you interested? You are not interested in death? When someone close to you dies, look at your fuss. Have you noticed? Everyone else cries with you. You know, in India, what happens when people die, they make a big fuss about it, it's horrifying. This sort of thing is not absent elsewhere. Let's talk about it. First, do you realize, do you truly realize that your consciousness is human consciousness? Do you realize it? For you, that is a fact, isn't it? Just like when someone pricks your arm with a needle, you feel pain. Is it that real? Not the pain, but the fact. That is to say, your brain has evolved over time, that brain is the product of a million years of evolution, that brain, if it lives somewhere in the world—right?—it might be conditioned by different cultures, different climates, but it is the common human brain. Right? Let's make that clear. It is not your brain. That brain inherits all sorts of reactions—right? That brain and its genes, the formation of genes is partly due to heredity, partly due to time, that is the common factor for humanity, right? Do you understand this? So, it is not your brain. Thought might say: "It is my brain." Thought might say: "I am an individual." Right? That is our conditioning. Are you an individual? Investigate, gentlemen. Are you an individual? You have a name, you have a different appearance, a different name, a different appearance. Different faces—tall, short, dark, etc. Does that make an individual? You belong to a certain type, a certain group, a certain community, or a certain country, does that make you different, or does that make you an individual, right? Hurry up, sir, quickly! So what is an individual? An individual is a person who is not divided, but because you are all divided, you are not individuals. You are the product of climate and other factors and all the labels that come with it. If that fact permeates your blood, then it is a fact. You may think for yourself, but that is merely an expression of thought. Thought is common to humanity, based on experience, knowledge, memory, stored in the brain. Right? The brain is the center of all sensory reactions, and it is common to all of humanity. Is all this clear to everyone? This is perfectly logical. So, when you say, what will happen to me after I die… right? Do you understand, sir? That is where your interest lies—the "me" that is going to die. What is "me"? Your name, your appearance, your education, knowledge—right?—profession, family traditions and religious traditions, beliefs, superstitions, greed, ambition. Right? Examine it, sir. All the deceptions that are happening, the ideals you have, you are all that. Right? That is to say, your consciousness. That consciousness is common to all of humanity because they are all so greedy, they are all so jealous—right?—they are afraid, they want security, they are superstitious, they believe in one deity, and you believe in another. Some are communists, some are socialists, some are capitalists, right? So, all are partial… you are all that. So, that is the common factor, you are other humans. Right? You may agree and say: "Yes, that is so true," but you continue to act as individuals. It is simply… ugly, hypocritical. So, what dies? Do you understand what I mean… If my consciousness is human consciousness, and it changes, etc. This consciousness that I consider "me" is the common consciousness of man. Right? So, what happens when I die? The body is burned or buried, or incinerated in an accident—what happens? The common consciousness continues. I don't know if you realize it. So, when you become aware of that truth, death becomes insignificant. Then there is no fear of death. The fear of death exists only when I am following tradition, my brain like a programmed computer, considering myself an individual, saying, I am an individual, I am a person, I believe in God, I believe in this, I believe in that, only then does fear exist. And all that a computer can do. Do you understand? It can repeat. So… you see, sir, there is one factor in all this that you do not understand. Love has no death. Compassion has no death. Only those who have no love, no compassion, fear death. And then you will say: "How can I love?" Right? How can I have compassion? As if you could buy it from the market. But if you see it, if you realize that love itself has no death. Sir, that is true awakening, do you understand? That awakening transcends all wisdom, all words, and all the adornments of various intellects. There are still some questions. It is a quarter to nine now. You have heard this person speak on different occasions. You have probably also read some of what he has written or said. I don't understand why you read. We live by other people's ideas. Right? We never read our own book. We are the history of humanity. Right? Obviously. That book is us. And to read that book carefully, without skipping a word, a page, a chapter, but to read the entire book. No one can teach you how to read that book. Gurus, saviors, masters, psychologists, professors, none of them will help you read that book. That is the first thing to realize. You must read that book yourself, that is, you, you are that book. Go and read that. Or, you read it slowly, page by page, year after year, until you die, and then you will never have read it completely. Do you understand? Or, you see the entire book at a glance. To do that, the brain must be very sharp, very alert, without any motive, without any purpose, alert, awake, without contradiction in the mind, without hypocrisy. Then you can read that book, you don't even look at it, and the book is read. Then, you will figure out for yourself what exists outside of that book.
