Hey, it's these from Heaven. And today, we're talking about what angels think Jesus's blood is. It's a weird title, but I was reading through *Secrets of Heaven* the other day, found this, and I thought, like, I've got to put these people through it. And in my defense, everything that we've decided to feature, our news from Heaven, we believe has a chance to do some good. So, I think even something like this is a way to understand the world that lifts us above the perspective, our limited, confusing, scary perspective of what life is. You know, we have like the appearances, we what we call the appearances of life crushing down on us all the time that we're not connected to God, that life is not being taken care of, that other people are threats in some kind of way, that there are these existential tasks we're faced with, or wrongs with us, or something.
There's a truth, though, that's above that. And the truth above it is unified, every part of it. And truth is very much gonna be the focus of what we're talking about here. So, how can learning about something like Jesus's blood and the angels help us with that? Well, let's find out right now. Like and subscribe if you like it. Going in, and it's also worth talking about because Jesus's blood, that's, if you have no connection to the Christian tradition, you may not have heard it much. But it's something that's talked about. It's thrown around. People say that it's because Jesus died on the cross, the, you know, we're saved. And this is a difference between a Christian and not a Christian. And it has consequences. It has consequences in how people act in the world, and how they feel, and how they think. And on the flip side, there's a secret hidden in it that can apply to us anytime, anywhere. And that's the, this way more experience.
Alright, so we're going into *Secrets of Heaven*, like I said. This is the depth that, this is not yet in C.E. translated, so we don't have a free PDF to download of it. But you can follow along right here on the screen where we're all the way in 410. Yeah, that many beautiful numbers of *Secrets of Heaven*, subsection 5. We begin.
"I must also briefly say what truth in its power is." We're starting this conversation on truth. And you gotta get your truth straight if you're gonna go wait around in the mysteries of the universe. Angels are called powers in the word. Okay, so in these places, they're called powers. And actually, our powers too, as the church knows. I think this is, so this would mean they are powerful, I guess. If you think of angels, nobody thinks of an angel, or if it's just a pop understanding of it, or what, that you have an angel comes down and they are, I'm, well, I'm scared of everything. Angels exude confidence and power. I think that's what he's talking about, unless there's some kind of extra technical term that this meant. You know, you're walking through with me, that's what you get.
"They are powers not on account of themselves, though, but on account of the Lord, because they are recipients of divine truth from Him." So here you have not just blue highlighted truth, but yellow divine truth. So angels, you know, let's say they're an angel here. You know, the reason why they can have things like the Angel Festival on Earth, and people rate all these books, and if you, somebody does something awesome, you could all you are like an angel. It's this kind of this height of human expectation performance. It's because you've got a divine radiating out, whatever this mysterious truth is. Which is truth? Isn't that just like the accurate depiction of a situation? How, how is truth? I see you could leverage that to convince people things. But what's so powerful about truth somehow? That truth flows into angels and makes them what they are.
"The power they receive from the Lord is such that a single one of them can drive away a thousand members of the devil's horde, shut them up in hell, and bring them under control." Swedenborg saw this kind of stuff happen. So what the devil's horde is, is the devil in us. Is the desire for everything harmful toward other people, particularly to dominate, to control other people, to destroy anyone who does not do what you want, to rule, to have your freedom and your will above everyone. If you give in to that, or you give in to sensory gratification at any cost, any of these things that doesn't care how you affect other people, you, Swedenborg would say, you're being led by the devil. That's the devil inside you. And in the spiritual world, there's a lot of these people who can have common aims and are together trying to gratify their destructive tendencies. They want to mess you up. And it's, we're saying that this goal, one of these guys can send all these running from the hills. And that's interesting. It sounds like cool sort of science fiction, right? I mean, they've got some kind of cosmic battle that's happening there. Which, in one sense, is comforting. You'd want to think that at its deepest core, there's no ratio between, as my pen rolls away, there's no ratio between good, the power of good and the power of evil. Those two things should not be balanced equally, because evil, evil, so dumb, is so, when you look at it, it's so, um, it's it's not honorable and it's insane. Like, what to harm somebody else for your own gain? All the things that are are the most evil. Why would, why would you ever do that? Existentially, this stuff should not be on equal power footing with good. So it's kind of cool to think about one angel who's got this divine truth, which has got some kind of love in it on their side. If they're just able to blast, you know, back all these evil spirits.
And if I can return to this for a second, it's not that that this is the difference between good and evil as well. It's not there's a bunch of evil spirits and we killed them all. No, it's just, it's just drive them away, shut them up in hell, which, by the way, hell is the place that they love being because it's full of the kind of stuff they love. This is just keeping them away from harming people. Bring them under control. This is in for their own safety. If it was the other way around, if hell got to do what it to heaven, it would destroy everyone for all time. But heaven is just the goodness is not trying to destroy there. That's why they're fundamentally different. And so I'm glad in the end, there's more power and good than evil. But also, if that seems like, okay, that's a, that's great, that's a great movie trilogy in the making. Think about that in yourself, in your mind. The devil's horde. You think about all the stuff, even when I was drawing these clouds before, what is this stuff that's making you miserable? Like, what is the, the mass, or the complex, or the, the thicket? The thicket sounds too cute and like a deer would live in there, though. The, I don't want a jungle, because, you know, the rainforest is cool. What is the tangle of stuff? What is the impenetrable wall of thorns that is above you, made of all the things you fear, and all the things that worry you, and all the things that depress you or agitate you? What is all that stuff? You know, that's the devil's horde. And to me, that stuff can come in, and it can just be like, wow, I try to think of myself out of it. This way, I try to ignore this thing, it just gets in tighter and tighter. But I do find that truth, the concepts that I pick up in, in Swedenborg, and you can pick them up, I think, other places, and they can do the same thing. I know I've gotten them. But that you're tapping into this thing, that one concept like that can suddenly, it dispels everything. Like, oh, that the idea that divine providence is actually controlling everything. If you have like a well-rounded understanding of that, and I've actually put it to the test a bit, suddenly it can pull, all that stuff can evaporate, because none of those, two, all these things count on a false perception of the world. And as soon as you take out the floor from under them, like that, it's kind of that angel blasting in and sending them all away.
Alright, after all, divine truth from the Lord, we still got to investigate this truth stuff, because it's like, well, how's it behaving so differently than just words?
"Oh, after all, divine truth from the Lord fills and composes the heavens." So here's another feature of divine truth. It actually makes up the heavens. And hard as this may be to believe, thank you, you get that we're like, huh? What are you talking about? Everything was made and created by it, by the one truth, the Word. To hear Swedenborg talk about the Word, which was present with God in the beginning, was God, and was that by which everything was created in the world was made, as described in John 1:14. The beginning of John is actually pretty cool. It's divine truth. Yeah, where the Word was God, the Word was with God. Divine truth, divine truth, divine truth is the only what? Okay, okay, I get it. It's, it's something in God. Okay, it's can lift up your mind. It's concepts. What can you possibly add to that?
"Divine truth is the only substance there is and the origin of everything." So somehow, this is substance. This rollie pen is substance. Somehow, this is to the origin of everything. So whether or not this is a form of divine truth, the origin of this, this is made possible somehow by divine truth. Like, you look at your desk, or your, whatever, that's somehow dependent on divine truth. Are we starting to get into this is something more than just a couple of helpful spiritual ideas?
"If you can grasp this, though." Oh, here we go. Because these days, people picture divine truth strictly as words spoken by the mouth of a supreme ruler that determined how his commandments are carried out. Thou shalt not. For a proper idea of the man, RC 9407 at the end, which you certainly can go do. So it's interesting, though, that as we're describing this, divine truth has something big and expansive and that underlies the substance of reality and can equip angels with power, enough power to chase away a thousand people who are really devious and bent on evil. It's interesting, though, that he does maintain the word truth. I mean, whatever the Latin was, SAP ent, and I think was the Latin, that's one of the two Latin words that I think I know that is the same word that that we used to mean truth. So that he's connecting what we think of as truth with this much more expansive definition. So the two actually do have something in common. Things like, "The truth will set you free." We see the power of the truth as we think of it. Is it anybody asking for this discussion? I'm just gonna go on it. We see the truth as the thing that we're asking, what we as we think of it, like, you know, that when you think of something has been done that's that's bad and it's all convoluted and people are trying to get away with it, when the truth does come out, the power of that to rectify the situation. Or, you know, if you've got some kind of, people are having this interpersonal issue and you don't really know why are we triggering each other, something when you get down to the truth, what's really going on, there's power in that as well. And these divine truth, like these ideas, these comforting spiritual ideas, those as the greater truth, that just the knowledge of how the, the reality operates, those can be comforting. But that is connected somehow to this thing that makes up the universe. How so? Who knows? I don't know.
"The omnipotence of divine truth from the Lord is depicted in many scripture passages, including a passage by John in the book of Revelation." Okay, here we get a corresponding picture of the power of truth. "There was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon. The dragon in turn fought as did his angels. But they did not prevail, and no place was found for them any longer in heaven. They conquered him through the Lamb's blood." Oh, you thought I was, I forgot the title. He thought I was never going to talk about the blood of Jesus. The Lamb being the Lamb of God is commonly used as a symbol for Jesus. The Lamb's blood, and through the word of their testimony. So we're starting to get here. Great. So the omnipotence of divine truth. Here we go. But there's no truth in this passage. We're gonna, I'm gonna show you here, the omnipotence of divine truth. Okay, I'm looking for the word truth in here. There's nothing about truth in there. All there is is some testimony and the Lamb's blood.
Swedenborg, forget that. The, the tension is rising. The Lamb's blood is divine truth emanating from the Lord's divine humanity. And the word of their testimony is obviously divine truth. You didn't know that, as received by them. The blood of Jesus, you got this strange thing. Like, why is the blood of Jesus so, so important? Isn't blood a little bit creepy in the first place? Here he sinned. And let alone the image of a lamb, you know, there's a little innocent thing. It's blood. Why we, why are we bringing that into this discussion about love and truth?
"The Lamb's blood is divine truth emanating from the Lord's divine humanity, and the word of their testimony is the divine truths as received by them." So you've got, you know, in a very hasty picture, so it's not to waste any more of your time. You've got the emanating somehow, this right here, this stuff is Lamb's blood, though it's symbolized by Lamb's blood. And then us, you know, the people who are able to receive this truth, how it sometimes gets somehow gets into us, changes us. This is the word of the testimony here. The Lamb's blood. Well, how do you pull that together?
Well, water is a common correspondence for truth. And blood is this living water, which God is the source of all life. And but you think about, if we are human beings, because God is, we are actually our little form is more like an echo of the divine form. It's not, okay, we were already humans and then, okay, let's make up God is like a human like us. But that we are a reflection of the divine nature. Think about the role that blood plays in us. Like, why do we think, oh, why are you talking about blood? Because blood is so precious. And when it's put into the wrong place, or there's some kind of issue, there's that's so dangerous. But we're all very glad that there's blood around because it is what keeps us alive. And it's, it is our life. And think what it does. It's what lets every part of the body live. Because just like we're saying, this blood, I mean, this truth emanates out from God to everything in the universe. The blood in us emanates out from our central heart pump into every part of the body. And was it brings the ability to live? If you lose blood flow to a part of your body, it's, it's not gonna survive that. This is, this is the truth coursing out into reality, just like the blood in you courses out into you.
"People who are intent on the words outer meaning, cut off from its inner meaning, and who themselves are therefore cut off from the church's true theology, take this prophetic epatha Jin just one way." So he's basically saying, look, you guys misunderstand what this is all about, according to its literal meaning. They take the blood to mean blood, and consequently to mean the Lord's suffering on the cross. In reality, though, divine truth emanating from the Lord is what is symbolized by the blood there. Okay, so you had, you do have, don't you, huge groups of people saying like, the hope, the, the thing that was going down is that Jesus really, really suffered. You have movies that go in and really depict that suffering. And I can see a bit of where you're coming from. I can see an angle of, wow, look at, think about the love that's there in that. Like, so it's graphic and gruesome, but if you think about somebody, God, who didn't have to go do it, was willing to go through that, you know, for you, I get that that is a powerful message of sacrifice. But there's also this stuff that comes with it of like, oh, God needed to see that suffering. And also that that suffering is this, the greatest savior or something. That's the greatest thing. It wasn't the suffering of Jesus, it was the love and the truth that makes God God. So this, the Lamb's blood that we're saved by, that we're saved by the truth.
And are we ever gonna talk about angels then? You have angels in the title. I don't know. We're running out of time. I don't think we're gonna make it.
"People who subscribe to the church's true theology can see that they are saved not by the blood, but by, okay, hearing divine truth and acting on it." If we are like a part of the great body of God, which is the church that he's trying to build in each one of us, when we, if we can accept the blood is rushing through and say, here's oxygen, here's whatever else you need, oh, you know, take that in and act on it. When you hear some kind of spiritual truth in your mind, that or something gets to make it part of who you are, live by it, and then, you know, you are gonna get this protection from all the hell that's trying to mess with us. To grasp and see and perceive this is possible for anyone who receives enlightenment from the Lord accordingly. For anyone with a goodness born of neighborly love and faith. These are the people who are enlightened. And light, interpret divine truth as light. And Swedenborg says that we even have those idioms where we talk about getting mental capability on a higher level. At they, we compare that to light, because spiritually light does that for us. So that's why you talk like that.
Okay, here we go. Finally, at the end, we're getting into the angels. And Swedenborg, I can assert, and we saved the strangest for last, I guess. I can assert that when I read the Lamb's blood, the Swedenborg reading the Bible, that part in the Bible, when I read the Lamb's blood and think about the Lord's blood, the Lord is what he calls Jesus, but as God in one. The angels with me have, the angels with me have no idea that I am not reading divine truth emanating from the Lord. And thinking about that, there are these different levels to the Word. Swedenborg says, as to the Bible, then we have here this strange collection of different stories, and people get thrown in the pit, the coat of many colors, and you have Noah, and Moses, and and the stories of Jesus, and Revelation. Everything is down there. And some of it is is morally disturbing, some of it is confusing, some of it ambiguous. But there are these other levels of meaning up here. And that actually angels, when we are immersed in these ideas, they correspond to these ones. So as Swedenborg is down here reading about the blood of a lamb, which is like, what, you leave a lamb alone, you know, they're nice and little, and what does blood have to do that? The angels here don't even realize he's reading those earthly correspondences. All they here is or perceive is divine truth emanating from the Lord. They see the internal sense. And that's how, and through this seeing these two different parts, there's some kind of uniting that happens here of heaven and earth as well. So that's a bonus.
So that's what angels think Jesus's blood means. However, it's acceptable for the unsophisticated to hold to their doctrine that they are saved by the Lord's blood, provided they live by His divine truth. People who live by divine truth become enlightened in the Otherworld. Now, this might seem like it's a bit insulting. Then again, you know, Swedenborg is writing, you know, who knows if that word carried the same connotation or whatever we translated it from at the time. Not a lot, not as many people could read. And so he's writing to people who are very highly educated. What he's trying to say, which I think is an okay thing to say, is to say, okay, I'm saying this is how it really is. You know, this is what the Lord's blood really is. It's not what you think it is. But it doesn't mean if you think that it's something else, but you are living by good principles in your heart, you're in great shape. Its intent that matters. That idea can be compatible with a good life. Because there's plenty of people in the world who believe this, who believe some variation on it's the, the blood and the suffering on the cross. Water. And our very great, nice people, nicer people than I am. And and right on a good track to becoming angels. And Swedenborg says, yeah, that that works. It's more about the intent. And it does seem to indicate, though, that we all get enlightened, you know, to these higher levels. And what it's really all about in the next world. So we're gonna get there, and that's gonna be great. And things that we're confusing, and and and why is this even part of the God conversation, they're become just obviously beautiful. And that's gonna be a cool to have no cognitive dissonance, just that's like a picture of the world that all makes sense. And to know that, hey, we're doing our little part while we're slogging through this life here to connect to what the angels see in their greater enlightenment. And that even in that, even in the confusing stuff for us, we're building that bridge. And life is good.
