Just when we thought the mag really couldn't get any weirder. As if a ball gown to a movie premiere wasn't bad enough. This monstrosity anywhere. The Jamie Kern Lima podcast. Anyone? Okay.

Things were already super weird. And then then Harper's Bizaarre outed the Meg as making people announce her title to them. Preposterous. There's almost no other worst thing for Meg's public image at this moment in time. It's like the worst thing I could possibly imagine to have been exposed to the public right now. She's already been exposed as a liar. See the Oprah interview. A bully. See the countless accounts from staff across multiple continents. And she's been outed as a business and creative failure. Just ask Spotify and Disney and countless other people. And now the cherry on top, a delusional, pretentious weirdo to add to her resume.

Under no circumstance, is announcing her title each time someone is in the vicinity normal. It is the farthest thing from normal. No wonder people are like, "What the heck is happening when she comes around?" And and looking kind of shell shocked or startled or like alarmed or like what is happening? I noticed this with the with love Megan series that people kind of looked like they were like what and bewildered a little bit when they first like came on screen or were introduced and we've seen it countless other times uh where people almost look a little startled and Megan's like, "Hey, ready to hug them?" And they're just kind of look a little shocked. It's probably because there was someone belting out the Duchess of Sussex randomly out of nowhere as they entered the room.

This is the woman who mocked a curtsy to the Queen of England, a beloved figure. She compared the experience to a cheap theater dinner. The audacity of her then to turn around and make someone announce her title as if she matters, but also as if that's what's the done thing when it is not. But this also explains why a lot of people are just generally off-put by this couple. Very few people have cozied up to Harry and Megan. And those that have are either just as narcissistic as Harold and the Meg and therefore view it as some sort of status advantage for themselves or they've just been bamboozled by Harry and Megan being on their bestest behavior for them. For the very people who they wish to reel in or make a good impression, anybody can put on a face for a little while. If it's somebody that they want to use their private jet and mansions, then by golly, they'll be awfully nice, I'm sure. or it's just people who have succumbed to the love bombing. And there's no shame in that. It can be very difficult to see through love bombing and other narcissistic tactics when you're affronted with it.

But the point is that Harry and Megan really haven't, when you think about it, it's been well over 5 years since they've left the royal family. They really haven't developed any degree of a good reputation professionally or personally. By now, you would expect they would have. The attempts from Megan to have various friends or associates offer positive accounts feel very contrived and rather empty. So despite her efforts to repair her reputation this year with friend proximity and podcasts and telling her own story again and again, nothing can really combat this nugget of information of the whole title announcement fiasco.

You may be wondering why why is this such a big deal? Well, because it's painfully performative. It's hypocritical, to be sure, and a desperate attempt to cling to the royal status for commercial gain. After having explicitly stepped back from royal duties and emphasized a desire for privacy, this title announcement thingy is not only cringe, but it's a highly public use of her title in nonformal settings. Key phrasing here, nonformal settings, is why it has come off so horribly for Megan. For example, these announcements were made to a group of like 12 or 13year-old girls and to an interviewer in a private home multiple times. What is she even playing at? It's so bizarre. It's so absurd. It's comical. Especially since Megan has spent all year trying to launch this business image. It's particularly controversial right now for her to have such a public and frequent use of a title as it's seen as commercializing her title and using it to try to gain an edge in her businesses, which is exactly what Queen Elizabeth said, titles are not to be used in that capacity. And to do so in such nonformal private settings is just a bizarre choice. So these things together are making it more controversial than it would have otherwise had it been sort of like at an event or something like that going to give a speech or something then you know being introduced in that way as Duchess of Sussex like people will be like fine whatever they don't necessarily like hearing that but they they wouldn't it wouldn't raise so many eyebrows. This in these specific contexts with all the other moving parts of this year in particular is what is making this such a detrimental thing to Megan's reputation right now.

This kind of formal announcement is not even a standard royal protocol on top of it, let alone one that would be used in such a casual and private setting. Typically, it's the guest who's announced and introduced to the royal, not the royal announced to the guest anyway. So this has led to accusations that this move, this habit of hers is an artificial and delusional affectation rather than any kind of adherence to genuine tradition. Furthermore, this is very inconsistent to this huggy friendly Megan image that she's been trying to portray in other contexts, which is making her feel very contrived and overly managed and also sort of two-faced. Like are you trying to be this unassuming person worried about making everyone comfortable and barefoot and all this and hugging everybody or are you like yeah this is my title and I want to be you know referred to in this way and feel elevated to those who I am meeting because there's really no other reason people know her name. They don't need it announced when they're walking into the room. There's no other explanation for it besides her liking the way it makes her ego feel. So, with this one stupid desire to feel that she's above others, this decision to let her ego take over has thoroughly ruined her reputation in one fell swoop. Just this alone. Because think about it, especially given that this isn't some sort of protocol, we know no one British took the initiative and Americans don't do titles anyway. So then this means that Megan Markle explicitly asked someone to do this. She has been requesting it. Gross. It doesn't look good for Megan's character, which is already heavily scrutinized and has been found lacking in so many ways. It's the exact opposite of the type of vibe she should be conveying. No matter what gymnastics she does in her head of like, well, it's like technically my legal name now. It doesn't matter, Megan. It doesn't matter. The way it comes across, the absurdity of it, the fact that it is not royal protocol or appropriate makes it a problem, makes it problematic for her to do that.

So, let us reflect back to how this year started. if her 2025 concept was to finally win over the public with an aggressive charm offensive situated around maintaining close proximity to alleged friends throughout this year, which she has done. Think about it. We've seen her cozying up to Emma Greed multiple times, Victoria Jackson multiple times, claiming friendship to Pierre Paulo, just just to be clear. He said, "We met years ago and she texts me." He did not say that he and Meg were friends, but Megan did say friends. But regardless, we've seen her do the Jamie Kern Lima podcast. She's made appearances with Kelly Zafan a few times this year. And she had both Kelly and Serena Williams talked to the Harper's Bizaarre interviewer. And of course, she tried to imply that every single guest on With Love, Megan, was a friend. But the truth of the matter was that only three or four guests were genuine established friends. That was Kelly Zafen, Abigail Spencer, Daniel the makeup artist, and there was one lady in the holiday special. I think her name was Lindsay, um, who was claimed as like a friend from the past that was more of like an established legit friendship outside of like work acquaintances or people she had never met before. Most of the guests were strangers to Megan or loose acquaintances through work connections. You wouldn't call that person a friend. The point is that Megan has spent all year this year trying to prove that she has friends to combat the bullying allegations, it would appear for sure, but also to try to soften her image to some extent. And all of it has just been undone with this absurd title introduction revelation.

The consequences of this error in judgment for Megan are very real though because she is so disliked and she has chosen a format, business ventures, things of that nature that really do rely on appeal and likability. And so this is just being seen as yet another erosion of public trust. It is reinforcing the narratives that Megan has been trying to distance herself from things like hypocrisy, diva behavior, and inauthenticity. And it makes it clear that for Meg, it's about image. It's about status. It's about privilege using it and reveling in it. And she's not smart enough to not make a song and dance about the privilege that she has. Instead, she is enjoying flaunting it every chance she gets. And that is why this is one of the most damaging things to have come out about Megan Markle in years.
