All right. So, here it is. Uh, the Steam Machine. I'm a little bit nervous to upload this video, if I'm honest. There's a lot of big opinions uh about this. And none of which I'm going to talk about today. Let's just open it, shall we? I'll let you face it because you're [music] more important than me. It's got a nice little like a velvet outfit on, like a like a little nun. Oh, that's pretty heavy. Nice little handle on here, though. That's fun. [music]

Okay. I don't really know how to explain to my wife that this cost £900. I know people are really ripping into it because of its uh price performance, but um the size of it, man, it's so unbelievably small. Like I feel like if this was just like a PlayStation 5 mini, it would be really, really impressive. But obviously, it's a lot more expensive. Uh, yeah, I better go plug it in. >> [music] >> What you think? [laughter] >> It's cool though, isn't it? >> Just like a Gamecube. >> It's tiny. Yeah, it does. It does look like a GameCube. Woo.

All right, so it's been like 24 hours. Um, I have downloaded some games. Look at this streaming setup. What a what a pro. Before I do get into this, I have to apologize that, um, the streaming quality you see on the screen probably isn't going to be like the best. Uh, my very pathetic game capture card can only capture like a max 1440p at like 60 frames. So, uh, but to be fair, the Steam Machine probably can only just about handle that anyway. So, but look, I'm not a Digital Foundry, okay? I don't know what I'm doing. Oh, I should probably start recording actually, shouldn't I? That would help. I feel like a 2012 YouTube gamer doing this. How's it going, bros? Welcome back to the channel.

So, I spent a couple minutes just tinkering around what I think are the best settings, and I feel like I've sort of stumbled upon what I think is at least what I'd play at. So, we're running it at 1440p, and we're using ultra settings with the balanced um FSR quality. I'll show you some of the settings here so you get an idea. Uh but yeah, basically all ultra the ultra preset and we [snorts] are getting a very very stable 60 fps. I've been running around for about 5 minutes and I can't get it to to drop below that. Oh, also I should say that there's no dynamic resolution scaling. This is just purely FSR. If I go over to quality on FSR, it's still um it's still hitting that 60 fps. I just noticed it flicked down a couple times before, but [snorts] to be fair, this looks decent. To be honest, I know this is an older game, but it looks absolutely amazing. Like, I know it's 1440p. Yeah, I know. Um, but I have been going back and forth, and the difference between 1440p and 4K really isn't like that big a deal, I don't think. Um, I'll try and put it on 4K for you so you can see. So, the same settings on uh 4K and it is a bit of a choppy bit of a choppy boy there, but we're just about hitting the 30 fps. But I think this looks pretty terrible to be honest. If I move SSR on to performance and put the dynamic resolution scale on and then turn the graphics preset down to medium, it gives us a little bit more headroom. Some people might like to play like this. So, we're hitting around 50 FPS, which to be fair. This looks good. Uh, yeah, this looks great. [music]

All right, I found a I found a bear. Oh, [ __ ] Yeah, we are still we're hitting like a good 40 46 45 then. And yeah, switching back to 1440p where I would play quality FSR on ultra settings. Yeah, I don't know. Even on like ultra settings there is so much like foliage and stuff. The light looks great. I think this is I think this is really really good. I think most normal people would be really really happy with how this looks and performs. Sue me.

Okay, so we're trying out De Mo 5. Really hope that this can smash it because it's pretty old. So, we've got everything on ultra and we're at 4K. Um, and by the looks of things, we can get a very stable 60 fps. It's like impossible to talk about this stuff without sounding like a massive dweeb. Hello, kitten. Welcome back to my game play. Today, we're going to be testing Devil May Cry 5 in ultra settings graduate racing. [music] Uh, another game that I struggle to remember to play to be honest. Just looks absolutely sick to be honest. Um, and I can't really get it to drop any further under that 60 fps. Um, I can't throw any more at this. I don't think I don't think it has ray tracing. So, um, yeah, it does well with this game. Thank god. Okay, there we go. It's slowly coming back to me.

Hey everyone, sorry to interrupt that riveting gameplay, but um the only reason I could actually afford a Steam machine was because of today's kind sponsor, Flexis Spot Baby. So, [music] recently I moved to an office and I took all my nice office stuff with me, including my office chair. Anytime I've edited or worked from home, I've been using this and uh if you couldn't tell, it [music] is incredibly uncomfortable. So, when Flexis Spot reached out and offered to not only sponsor the video, also sent me a brand new C7 Max [music] chair, how could I say no? So, this is the C7 Max. Wo! We've got a 3D adjustable headrest [music] that can be tilted and moved up and down. The entire height of the back rest can be changed. The lumbar support literally adapts to your back [music] and supports your sacrum in a way that almost na chair does. You can also adjust the seat depth. And talking of the seat, it is just incredibly soft and [music] big and comfy. We also have 5D armrests which just move in every single way and position you could possibly imagine. Are you seeing this? I feel like Optimus Prime. And we obviously get a nice little recline, [music] too. But by far my favorite feature is this built-in footrest. Like I can literally lay down at my desk. I'm sorry, but if [music] this isn't an elite office chair experience, I don't know what is. Hm, sounds great, but is there any offers? Well, I'm glad you asked because if you use code C750 at checkout, you actually get $50 off one of these chairs, every order comes with a 10-year warranty [music] and a 30-day back returns policy. If you're on more of a budget, the C5 option is a great way to go. And for a more pro version, they have the C7 [music] Morpher, which has a ton of more features and has won loads of awards. A massive thank you to Flexis Spot [music] for sponsoring this video, as without them, I literally couldn't have done it. Um, anyway, let's get back on with the video.

Did somebody say Doom? So, I did have a little play with this earlier and I could easily get this to run at 120 fps at 1440p. Um, but obviously my capture card, like I said, doesn't doesn't handle that, unfortunately. So, uh, we're going to have to just try and max out at 60 fps where we can. I don't know if this got FSR, but it's got resolution scaling. I've put that on static. We're on ultra settings at 4K. We'll try with RA tracing on. Okay, now we're Yeah, now we're just stippling below that 60. Oh, yeah, it is. It is pretty pretty choppy just below. Yeah, uh we're getting around between sort of 50 and 60, but it's very uh up and down. Um, so I need to turn ray tracing off before I have an aneurysm, but I think we can push it a little bit more. And I think they have like nightmare. This is 4K um, ultra nightmare settings. And we are we are smashing the 60K. So yeah, like I said, I did have a go at this earlier and you can easily get to 120 FPS on 1440p as well. So again, I know it's an older game, but runs really well, I think.

Okay, so we're now in Boulders Gate 3. I'm running this at 4K uh FSR at balanced medium settings with a cap of 60 and I'm walking around the woods and it's doing good. I mean, just dipping below 60 there, but it's okay. There we go. 60. Stay there, please. I feel like for a game like this, you can very well get away with just under 60 as it's less twitchy than like Doom or something. But um what I am worried about is going into like a busy thing because my old PC did not handle this at all. They're all drunk and sleeping. Oh, maybe not. I am I'm actually quite surprised. Uh I thought this was going to proper tank. uh with uh with some enemies on here, but we're we're running between sort of 50 and 60. Or if we try changing it to performance. Um Oh, Jesus. Okay. [music] How are we not How did I not die from that? [music] [music]

Okay. And this is Final Fantasy Rebirth. So, yeah, we're at 1440p uh medium settings uh with the AMD upscaling on and dynamic resolution scaling on between 50 and 100%. And I was just in town and I'm not going to lie, it did look a little bit shaky at times. There was some there were some pretty major drops, but now that we're in a slightly less dense area, it does look a good bit better. >> I thought it was going well up until that point. Okay, that is uh pretty disappointing. I'm not going to lie. This cut scene's going a bit better. No uh crazy crashes yet. Maybe it just needed a minute to warm up. It's looking good now. Oh yeah. Okay. So, yeah, a little bit [music] of a mixed bag with Final Fantasy Rebirth. um ran runs okayish. Um but yeah, there was some pretty crazy um yeah, like stuttering and issues there. But uh what I do want to try before I finish off is try streaming this to my Steam Deck and just see what that whole experience is like. Wow. Okay. Um I thought this was going to be way worse than this. Uh I've tried streaming from my PC before and it just was was not good. Let's finish this. >> I was expecting the delay to be really significant, but uh it's totally fine. It just feels like it's really really slick and responsive, and I would happily play like this to be completely honest.

All right, sorry for the slightly scrappy video. Hope you enjoyed. I'm sorry about um being such a sweaty mess. Look at me. Jesus [music] Christ. Let me know if you have any questions um for me on the on the Steam Machine that I can answer for you in the next week or so. I'm going to make like a proper video talking about my thoughts on it um very soon. But I thought I'd just I was going to test these games anyway, so I thought I thought why not bring you along for the ride. [music] So, thanks for joining me. Um like and subscribe. [laughter] Hit 18K today, though. That's cool, isn't it? Cheers guys. Have a nice day and nice and
