What I want to do on this week's program is address some of the outlandish, over-the-top, defamatory comments Tucker Carlson made this week with Mick Fuentes, as well as some of the other comments he's made recently.
In a September 2025 episode, Tucker Carlson lamented how evangelicals worship the state of Israel over scripture. And he ties that to a kind of a a broader cultural decay that we're seeing. Now, let me just say this very clearly. We don't, at least I can speak for myself, I don't worship Israel. I worship the sovereign, eternal God who made covenants and promises with the Jewish people that I believe he will keep and that he's chronicled for us in his word.
In fact, I would say that the proof that the Jewish people have a right to be in their ancient homeland is that they're there. I mean, the ultimate proof that they have a right to that land is that they're they're there today. Obviously, if God didn't want them to be there, they wouldn't be there because God is sovereign. He controls uh nations and kingdoms. God promised in scripture in the Old Testament over and over again to bring them back to their land in the last days. I mean, one of the main passages is Ezekiel 37, the great passage of the dry bones. And God has brought them back there now against all odds in preparation for the fulfillment of the end times. You know that the Jewish people in their nation was founded 6% of the Jews were there in Israel in 1948. They're attacked simultaneously by five nations. They fought the Suez war in 1956, the six- day war in 1967, the Yam Kipper war in 1973. They fought wars with Lebanon. They've antitifas. There's been these fighting with these Iranian proxies. There's the the Gaza war that just now has ended with this ceasefire.
But but God is the ultimate Zionist because he's the one who promised Abraham a people and a land. In Genesis 15, he gave the borders of that land. And the Jewish people have never inhabited all the land that God promised to Abraham and to his descendants to give to them. He says, "Forever." God's the one who promised that. So, no other nation on earth has ever been given the title deed to a particular piece of land, but the Jewish people have. So, they they haven't always occupied the land, but they own it. There's a difference between ownership and occupation. Now, they own that land. God gave it to them. He's put them out of it several times and brought them back, but it's their land. So, God promised Abraham seed and soil, descendants and land. He promised them a a a national territorial nation, a people and a land.
Let me read a New Testament verse that reinforces God's promises uh to Israel. Romans 11:25-29. Paul wrote this. I don't want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters. A mystery just means something that's previously been unrevealed. It it's it it's something that kind of is newly revealed truth. I don't want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited. Israel has experienced a hardening in part. Now, the mystery is not that Israel would be hardened. We've seen that in other places in the Bible. The mystery is how long will that hardening last? He says that they they've experienced a hardening in part, a partial hardening until so it's going to end at some point until the full number of the Gentiles has come in. And in this way, all Israel will be saved. There going to be a national conversion of the Jewish people in the end times. Then listen to what he says here. He's quoting the Old Testament. As it is written, the deliverer will come from Zion. The deliverer Jesus, he'll come from Zion. He will turn godlessness away from Jacob, and this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins. Then he says of the Jewish people, they're loved on account of the patriarchs, for God's gifts and his call are irrevocable. The promises of God, his covenants, his promises can never ever be revoked. So God is a Zionist. Jesus will come from Zion to rescue and deliver the Jewish people in the end time and bring about their mass conversion.
Now, Tucker Carlson believes that Christian Zionists, evangelicals, who view Israel's founding and security as a biblical imperative tied to end times prophecy, he says this, have infected the faith with a brain virus that prioritizes foreign entanglements over domestic gospel work. And he says they're not Christians, uh, they're heretics. Now, all I have to say, that's a false, foolish statement. One of the greatest evangelists in history, probably the greatest preacher in Christian history since the Apostle Paul was Charles Spurgeon. Uh the the the prince of preachers from from London, preached there in the Metropolitan Tabernacle 170 years ago. Spurgeon said this on June 3rd, 1855 in a sermon. the hours approaching when the tribe shall go up to their own country. When Judea, so long a wilderness, shall once more blossom like the rose. I think we do not attach sufficient importance to the restoration of the Jews. We do not think enough about it. But certainly if there's anything promised in the Bible, it is this, the restoration of the Jews. He said if there's anything promised in the Bible, that's it. I imagine you cannot read the Bible without seeing clearly there's to be an actual restoration of the children of Israel. For when the Jews are restored, the fullness of the Gentiles shall be gathered in. He's referring there to Romans 11. And as soon as they return, then Jesus will come upon Mount Zion, talking about Jerusalem, and the houseion days of the millennium shall dim them dawn. Christ shall rule with universal sway.
So Tucker Carlson says, "Supporting Israel prioritizes foreign entanglements over domestic gospel work." Well, yeah, you can do both. We can support Israel and we can spread the gospel. Those things aren't mutually exclusive. Uh Billy Graham was a strong supporter of the modern state of Israel and the future restoration of the Jewish people. Um he said this in 1967 but when the ' 67 war was happening the six- day war the Jews are God's chosen people we cannot place ourselves in opposition to Israel without detriment to ourselves Billy Graham understood that this fledgling state of Israel was there by God's grace not by their own might and he encouraged Christians all over the world to stand with Israel during the 1967 war that threatened to eliminate them supported Israel all of his life so do his son Franklin Graham and his daughter Anne Graham Lots. And so Billy Graham, the greatest evangelist of the of the 20th century was a supporter of Israel. So again, this idea that you have to you prioritize foreign entanglements over this over gospel work. We can do both of those things. We can support Israel, we can spread the gospel. So I think that's a a false charge against Christian Zionists.
Uh Daryl Bach in a book called New Christian Zionism. Daryl Bach teaches at Dallas Seminary. He's a friend of mine, a great scholar, a lover of of the nation of Israel. He says, "Christian Zionism is bigger than any denomination, theological tradition or period. It focuses in the character of God and the teaching of Jesus and the apostles. Those at the start of the Christian faith argued that God will keep his promises to Israel." And I love this last statement. This confidence provides a basis of assurance about his promises to us. can Noah fulfill his promises to us because he's fulfilling um his promises uh to them uh to to the Jewish people. He goes on and says this, and this is a really good statement. He says, "It's sometimes said that the New Testament says nothing about the land promise." People will say, "Well, you know, in the New Testament, it doesn't talk about the land and God promising the land to the Jewish people." But he says, "This ignores a first century New Testament reality. Israel was in the land during this time. So there was little need to remind the nation of a promise already in place. So when the New Testaments were being written that they're they're in the land. So they don't need a promise about it at that point in time because they're there. So being a Christian Zionist simply means that you believe that the Jewish people have a right to their ancient homeland and you believe that God has a future for national territorial Israel. That's what it means to be a Christian Zionist and we derive that from the word of God.
Now, here's just a few few conclusions. I am I'm a Christian Zionist. I believe God will keep his promises that he's made to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. And I believe the promise of the land will be fulfilled someday in the millennial kingdom when Jesus comes back to rule and reign. Number two, Christian Zionism is not heretical. It's not heretical to believe that God made promises and that he'll fulfill those promises. In fact, that's what we we should believe. It's what we must believe. And we're seeing many of these things being fulfilled or at least the stage being set for their fulfillment right before our eyes as the Jewish people almost 8 million Jews living there today in the land of Israel. And a third thing I mentioned earlier, I don't worship Israel, but I do worship the God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Also, I don't support everything the modern state of Israel does. I don't know any Christian Zionist who would say that. uh that that's not what it means to be a Christian Zionist. The government of of Israel is not infallible. Uh their government is led by fallen people just like every other human government and they do things that are wrong.
But the promise of Genesis 12 where God says to Abraham and his descendants, I will bless those who bless you and the one who curses you I must curse. That's never been revoked. In fact, it's been borne out in history again and again. Those who have opposed Israel have fallen on the ash sheep of the ash heap of history. Pharaoh and Hmon and the book of Esther. Antiocus IV, Antiochus Epiphanies and the time between the the Old and New Testament. Adolf Hitler and and his Third Reich and on and on we could go. So it's been borne out in history that those who support Israel are blessed and those who curse Israel are not blessed. But the most important practical ramification to me of being a Christian Zionist is it assure it assures us that we can trust God in his word that his promises are sure. Again, let me quote what Daryl Bach said. God will keep his promises to Israel. This confidence also provides a basis of assurance about his promises to us. We can know that God will keep his promises to us, to the church because we know that God is keeping his promises uh to the nation of Israel. God is a promise making. God is a promisekeeping God. And that's really all it means to be a Christian Zionist. We believe that he makes promises and that he keeps them.
