Have you ever felt like your inbox is out of control and your personal email is visible to everyone? What if there was a way to regain control and protect your privacy? Let's explore how Proton Mail's email aliases can help you enhance your email privacy and organization. "They didn't organize things." Email aliases are extra email addresses linked to your main Proton Mail account. They allow you to send and receive emails without revealing your personal email address. Think of aliases as nicknames for your email. "Is that a nickname?" For example, you can use your main email address for important communications, such as business and personal emails. However, when signing up for public Wi-Fi at the airport or for a newsletter from a shopping site, you create an alias instead. By using aliases, you can prevent spam and unwanted messages from reaching your main inbox, while keeping your real email address private. Aliases make managing your online identity simpler and more secure, giving you control over who can reach you and when. Proton Mail offers different types of aliases to suit your needs. Plus aliases (+aliases) Extra email addresses and hide-my-email aliases Each type offers unique benefits for managing your email. Creating a plus alias is as simple as adding a '+' and a keyword after your username. For instance, your username, the (+) plus sign, and shopping@proton.me when signing up for online stores. Emails sent to this alias will land in your inbox, and you can easily identify where they came from. It's that simple: no setup is required. Want even more flexibility? Proton Mail allows you to create entirely new email addresses linked to your account. In your Proton Mail settings, click on 'Identity and addresses' and then 'Add address'. Choose a username and select a Proton Mail domain or your custom domain. Then, pick a display name and click 'Save address'. It's a simple upgrade to expand your email options while keeping everything secure. For maximum privacy, you can use 'hide-my-email' aliases to keep your personal address completely hidden. Go to the Security Center and click 'Create an alias'. Proton Mail will generate a unique, randomly created address that you can use to sign up on websites, for free trials, or anywhere you want extra privacy. And if an alias starts receiving spam, you can easily disable it with a simple switch. Hide-my-email aliases are perfect for keeping your inbox clean and your identity safe. "No identity..." Let's use aliases to keep your inbox organized. Go to 'Settings'. Then 'Filters.' For example, move all emails sent to work.eric@proton.me directly into a dedicated folder, such as 'Work'. This way, your emails get organized without extra effort. Aliases help protect your personal email, keep spam at bay, and make managing your emails a breeze. For even more control, you can integrate aliases with Proton Pass. Proton Pass can generate unique aliases on the fly. Sign up for Proton Mail and take control of your email experience.
