This video is going to be very interesting. I guarantee I'm going to upset some people with my rankings here, but that's okay.
In this video, I'm going to be ranking the 25 most popular men's fragrances of all time on a tier list. I got all these fragrances by sorting on Fragrantica to most popular and for men. I have not seen the order of this list yet. I'm going to compare my list to that one at the end. I actually had this tier list made for me so I could keep that a surprise. I want to see what I think versus the general populace on the order of these fragrances, etc. I really hope this helps a lot of people. If you are deciding to ever get a men's fragrance, I hope my opinions and my thoughts help you pick that fragrance. I'm genuinely curious to see where I rank these. So, this is going to be a lot of fun.
Also, I own the majority of these fragrances, so my wallet hurts. Yes, but at least I have an opinion on these so I can help you guys out. So, let's get started here.
The very first fragrance that is listed, Valentino's Born in Roma Intense. I'm gonna probably upset a lot of people with this one, but I think that this fragrance is quite mid. Like, I was genuinely not impressed by pretty much the majority of the line. Coral Fantasy being my favorite one. This one just smells to me like synthetic hairspray. Like, you know, the scent profile of your girlfriend or I mean, well, let's be honest, a lot of us don't, you know, a lot of you guys don't have a significant other, but if you don't, when you're growing up, your mom like sprays her hair in the bathroom. Like, this is what this smells like to me. It's actually genuinely surprising to me that a lot of people think that this is like a masterpiece. And I'm not trying to say this to hate, but I just I don't think that this is anything more than B tier. B tier for Valentino Born in Roma Intense. I actually don't own this fragrance.
This next one is going to be Club Denui Intense Man. Man, the reason I do not own this one is because I personally feel like the limited edition Le Parfam is actually completely superior to this. Originally when I smelt this Club Denui Intense Man, I did not like it because it has a very sharp synthetic cleaning product smell of lemon on top. It did not sit with me. The limited edition is a lot better. That's why I think that this version of Club Denui Intense Man is overhyped. So, I'm going to have to actually go with C tier on this one. I think that the limited edition is actually A tier.
Okay, so the next one on this tier list is going to be Bleu de Chanel Eau de Parfum. This is an iconic fragrance because first of all, it's probably one of the most sold men's fragrances in the world. But I kind of have a different take on it over time. Like you can see there's actually a lot missing from this. But I hardly reach for this fragrance anymore. The main reason is because I find it incredibly boring nowadays. Like when I have 350 plus bottles of fragrance, stuff like this just doesn't get worn. Like it just doesn't have enough character for me to go for it anymore. But with that being said, this is a very masterpiece fragrance. It's the perfumery to this is done incredibly. Very shower gel-like with a little bit of character, but incredibly boring. And that's why I think that it is going to go into A tier, but not S tier because I can appreciate the perfumery. It was done very well. It's just boring now. You know, a little bit overhyped in today's society with so much different fragrance options. I genuinely think so. Oh my goodness.
Okay, the next one is Louis Vuitton Imagination. Probably one of the most hyped fragrances in today's marketplace. I genuinely think I've never seen this kind of hype that is so undeserved ever in my opinion. Louis Vuitton fragrances, especially the Freshies Pacific Chill, Imagination, and Afternoon Swim are very synthetic. They're not very high quality, and they're extremely expensive with kind of mid-performance. I'm going to upset a lot of people here, but I'm actually going to go with C tier. Sorry, I don't know what to say.
Okay, this next one is Jazz Club. I actually love Maison Margiela Replica line. Jazz Club is honestly in my opinion a jazz club. There I said it. It's boozy. It has tobacco. There's a little bit of vetiver that gives it this smoky kind of woody warmth to it. Some amber, a little bit of vanilla vibes. It's extremely masculine. Has a lot of character. I absolutely love what they did with this. It's an incredibly well-made piece of a fragrance. Some would say, but the versatility is a little bit low. I can only wear this in the dead of winter in the coldest of days. Dressed very classy because it does have that elegance and sophistication behind it. I'm gonna have to go with S tier. No, A tier. A tier for Jazz Club. The only thing I wish that it did a little bit better is have a little bit more versatility or have a little bit better performance. I get I don't get the best performance. It's still not a bad performer, but it could be a little bit better.
The next one, okay, I am known to hype this fragrance up. This is Azzaro The Most Wanted Parfum. I absolutely love this fragrance. One of the most addictive fragrances I have in my collection. I bought it full retail as soon as I smelt it. One of the first reviews on my channel, but I got to admit it's not the best fragrance ever made. I know that a lot of people are not going to like this because it's incredibly sweet. Its versatility lacks in that department. Performance is great. I absolutely love this. So, it's like where do I place a fragrance I love, but I know that not it's not for everyone. Well, I would love to place this in S tier, but I'm just going to say A tier because I can. This is my channel. I forgot this is Chad's Secrets. It's me. I get to say what I want here. I love it.
This next one, Spicebomb Extreme. Or Sex Bomb Extreme as some people call it. I don't know why they call it that, but this is what it is. This used to be so incredibly hyped up everywhere. It would make everyone's list and then it dropped off a cliff in popularity. I don't know what happened. I never hear anyone talk about this anymore. This is spices. It's vanilla. There's a warming tobacco that kind of gives it this earthiness underneath here. I absolutely love the Spicebomb line. I think that the Spicebomb line in itself has so much character to it. The performance this is kind of overhyped, but it still performs greatly. Versatility kind of lacks. It's a fall winter fragrance mostly in the dead of winter in the cold. This is A tier for me. Almost S tier. Like if there was an in between A tier and S tier, this would go there.
The next one is last year's release I believe unless I'm losing my mind. Jean Paul Gaultier Le Beau Le Parfum. Not my favorite flanker of Le Beau. I'm not surprised to see so many Jean Paul Gaultier fragrances on this list here because they are hyped up across all social media. The thing I have with this fragrance is it's not my favorite, but it's still very good. Like this is a summertime fragrance for me. It's like minty. You get a little bit of a fig note which gives it this different character from the rest of the Le Beau line. You get some ginger in there as well. A little bit of coconuty seawater feel. Perfect springtime fragrance for me. Just not my favorite. I think that this is a B tier fragrance. No, A tier. What the heck? I almost placed it with freaking Born in Roma Intense. Wow.
Okay, this next one is Creed Aventus. I do not own a bottle of Creed Aventus and I don't want to because it's insanely expensive. Creed fragrances just keep going up in price and their quality and performance just keep going down. They have very big batch formulations. So, some are smokier, some are fruitier, some are woodier. It's just hit or miss. That's why I don't really want to buy a bottle until they at least figure it out. And to be honest with you, the clones get pretty much 99% of the way there nowadays. The DNA of Creed Aventus is overplayed, but it was an absolute trendsetter and a groundbreaking thing for men's fragrances. So, I'm going to place it on S tier simply because of the DNA just works. It makes you smell like a powerful rich man. It's got pineapple, musk, woods, some a little bit of smoke running through there. Very, very charismatic stuff.
Stronger With You Absolutely is the next one, guys. This stuff is so good. Very good powerful fragrance. Like it's super good in performance. Insanely insanely hyped up right now. Like it's probably one of the most popular fragrances on TikTok. I would not doubt that at all because it works. It gets very positive attention. But I know for a fact that this is not for everyone. The Stronger With You line, if you've smelt one of them, you've smelt all of them except some of them just have a little bit of a different of a twist. This is basically vanilla. It has a toffee which gives it this gourmand-like dessert-like feel. You get some cinnamon, some amber, some tonka bean, and a little bit of spicy kind of fresh spicy pink peppery note that gives you a little kick in the base. Very good fragrance, but it's not a groundbreaking fragrance to be fair. Like the whole line, it does it great, but it's not amazing. A tier. There's going to be a lot of A tiers on here. I'm just realizing that.
Dior Sauvage. I actually do have a bottle, but I couldn't find it. And then I realized it's because it's one of those fragrances I keep at my mom's house anytime I go visit just cuz it works for pretty much anything. And like in case I accidentally forgot a fragrance in my collection behind here, which has 350 bottles in it, in case I forgot something, I have something over there to spray. A lot of people in the fragrance community are going to absolutely hate me and roast me for saying this, but I think it's one of the most game-changing men's fragrances released. Like I know a lot of people think that this is for f boys or dags or whatever, but like I think that this works and it works for a reason. It's one of the most sold men's fragrances of all time. Personally, I've worn this fragrance before. I've absolutely loved it. I get positive attention when I wear it. Other people I know have gotten positive attention with this. And I can't believe I'm saying this, but again, do not be offended, but I'm ranking this above Bleu de Chanel. I think I've lost my freaking mind. I'm going S tier with freaking Dior Sauvage. I actually think I've lost my mind. I might need to go to therapy after this, especially after I see all the comments roasting me. But I just think it has a smidge more character than Bleu de Chanel even. So, this is basically a shower gel fragrance, but it has basically some citrus, some lavender, a little bit of black pepper, which gives it, in my opinion, that's where the character comes in cuz that kind of warm spiciness that you get out of it. This is very fresh, clean. It has a little bit of a metallic smell in the background. A lot of people have said that they don't like it cuz it's too like like the ambroxan hit just kind of feels a little screechy and I get that but it gives it character but it's super popular. So if you get it just know you will not smell unique.
Parfums de Marly Althair. I'm actually surprised to see this on the list of the most popular men's fragrances because it's kind of a newer release from a niche house. So it's kind of weird for me to see this here. With that being said it's a very very good fragrance. The only problem is is I have a clone of it which is French Avenue's Liquid Brun that is basically 99% accurate to that. So it's kind of hard for me to uh justify the price tag. But this is a very very good gourmand smelling dessert-like fragrance for men and women. I think it's actually unisex smelling. It has a very kind of screechy orange blossom note in there. There's some vanilla, some cinnamon, warm spices, and it's very gourmand. But the orange blossom gives it this character. I think that it's a very good fragrance. I just don't think that it like like they're so much better, especially after I I get a clone that's easily able to replace it. And I'm not all for clones, by the way. I barely ever find clones that are able to replace originals. It's just like, you know, this is going to go B tier for me.
Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Elixir. Besides Louis Vuitton Imagination, I think that this is the most hyped one in this list. The bottle looks incredible if that means anything to you. But in my opinion, I think that it's a little bit overplayed. I smell it a lot nowadays. If I go to a party, I'm smelling this. I'm smelling this for sure. This has honey, it has tobacco, a little bit of mint, tonka bean. If you want a fragrance to get you compliments that has beast mode performance, this is it. The only drawbacks, versatility. I would say that it's too sweet for most. So, it's preferring the more youthful crowds, but it's really hard to say that this is not anything else but an A tier fragrance. Just not my favorite. Jean Paul Gaultier. And I think that anyone who hates on this fragrance, especially if they're my age or younger, is just saying that to rage bait you. It's a good fragrance. It really is.
Okay, this next one, Afnan's 9 PM. This is actually a clone. I'm surprised to see clones on here. Like, I didn't know that the clone market was so big, but it is. And I can't blame them. This is one of the first clones that I got that genuinely changed my opinion on clones. It gets very, very strikingly close to Jean Paul Gaultier Ultra Male. Like probably a third of the price. Like the price is insane on this fragrance. Uh, it's vanilla. It has apple, cinnamon, tonka bean, lavender. It's really the apple note or the pear note of the original. That's the most prominent thing for me in here. Then you get kind of like the Le Male DNA in the background sprinkled in. Very unisex. I think that this is a clone that changed my mind on clones. It's honestly revolutionary for clones. Afnan's probably best seller. One of the most sold clone fragrances ever. Not S tier because it's a clone. I'm going B tier. It just cannot compete. I think that the Ultra Male scent profile in itself is very good. It's just not my favorite.
Okay, now we got Versace Eros Flame. So, some of the notes to this fragrance is you get mandarin orange in here, some vanilla, a little bit of black pepper, which gives it that warm spicy edge. To me, I get a little bit more of a Chinotto note. Like, you can kind of think of this Chinotto note as adding this herbal green facet to this fragrance. I think that this is an incredible fragrance. Like, I know people are going to hate on me for saying it. The performance is pretty good. I think the versatility is actually a lot better than people give it credit for because the more citrusy orange notes. I say that you can actually wear this summer nights, spring nights. Totally fine. Some people are going to hate on me for saying that. Performance a little bit overhyped from what I see people say, but I think that this is also an A tier fragrance.
The next one is YSL's Y Eau de Parfum. Now, this fragrance, honestly, it's really good. Like, I think that it has one of the best openings I've smelt to men's fragrances, especially designers ever. Like, it has one of the most addictive scent profiles, especially in the opening. If you're the guy that looks for compliments, if you really want positive attention, it's hard to go wrong with any YSL Y. But the thing that made this one stand out from the original is it's so much better in performance. The original is lighter. This one is more syrupy. Instead of like this light kind of crisp apple, this turns it into a more syrupy apple, if that makes sense. It's denser. It's deeper. It's darker. It is flanked correctly. You get some sage and ginger in here. You get this like a little bit fresh spicy edges. There's cleanliness. It's crisp. Very clean but sweet. So, this is kind of a blue fragrance in its character, but it's kind of too dense for me to wear in the high heats of summer. I think that the versatility to this is kind of plagued by that because I would never wear this in the high heat in the summer or I think I would actually pass away because I would choke to death. But very good fragrance. A younger man, like younger than 25, maybe 30, is going to probably appreciate this more. But for me, A tier. I got to start hurrying this along. I'm running out of time here.
Oh, this next one is very popular. This one is Jean Paul Gaultier Le Beau Le Parfum. In my opinion the best flanker of Jean Paul Gaultier Le Beau. So this is basically a tropical summertime fragrance except it's a little bit too sweet to pull off in the highest of heat. So that's why I say like best time to wear this would be like a summer night. I was kind of confused at first cuz it's so overpoweringly sweet but the scent profile to itself just smells like a tropical vacation. So I'm like when do I wear this? But that's when I come to the conclusion of summer nights going out to dinner. Oh my goodness, what a perfect match. Coconut, pineapple, tonka bean, a little bit woody, but you also get this powdery kind earthy kind of iris coming through. It's slightly detectable if you search for it. It's crisp, it's clean, it's sweet, it's attention grabbing, it just works. This is an A tier fragrance.
This next one, Versace Eros. Honestly, kind of like Dior Sauvage in itself. I think that this is a groundbreaking men's fragrance that basically everyone started wearing because it's so good. A lot of people like to think they're above these like clubbing fragrances like they're for dags or whatever or every player is wearing this stuff. The reason they're wearing that is because it works. Like you have to understand it's not like they just like randomly went to shoppers or like a their local retailer and just been like how will I smell like everyone else? And then like you know the NPC gives them this. It's word of mouth. That's why these fragrances are so successful in the clubbing market is because they worked. I'm not going to sit here and hate on Eros. Eros to get some extra clicks like probably other influencers are going to do or Dior Sauvage for that matter. They work for a reason and they work well. My problem with this Eros is that it is not my favorite version. I prefer the Eau de Parfum. What they did to the uh original Eros EDT is they kind of shortened the performance. It doesn't perform as well anymore and it's a little scratchier and more sharp from alcoholic. Now you get some vanilla, some mint in here. where the prominent note is actually mint, some tonka bean, a little bit of apple and like citrusy smell and a little bit of oakmoss as well that if you don't like oakmoss, don't go here. But incredible fragrance. It's just overplayed and I think that the Eau de Parfum is better, but because I love it, let's go A tier.
Another fragrance that revolutionized clone fragrances. This one's by Lattafa. This is Lattafa Assad. Very very similar to Dior Sauvage Elixir, except this one just lacks in the performance category. You basically have to spray four sprays of this to equal the performance of one spray of Dior Sauvage Elixir. And because of that, you're going to chew through this bottle. Now, this is dry. It's spicy. It's got some nutmeg in here, a little bit of a licoricey smell. It has a little bit of pineapple. They said I don't get pineapple, but it's just basically like a sweeter kind of cleaner version with less performance than Dior Sauvage Elixir. There's actually situations I would wear this over Dior Sauvage Elixir because it's too strong. This one is better suited for the office. It's better suited for the daily casual wear. In my opinion, I never think that a clone is better than the original and that's why this one is going to B tier. But honestly, for an affordable fragrance, still hitting B tier is very good. Do not get me wrong when I say that. That's very, very good.
Versace Dylan Blue is up next. Anytime any of my friends ask me for a fragrance that they can get for their first fragrance, this is the one I recommend. It works. It has character. It has a little bit of sophistication sprinkled in. I think that this is really really good. It has so much character. Jeremy Fragrance said that it is the best teenager fragrance, but I think that is not true at all because it has an incensey feel, some slightly warm spices in here that give it a masculine, sophisticated edge. I think a gentleman can pull this off. It's an all year round blue fragrance with character in Ambroxan obviously like Dior Sauvage. It has some citrus, a little bit of grapefruit and incense, black pepper. Perfect night out fragrance. Very cleanly, very casual. This is going A tier for me. We're really filling up that A tier. I like I just, you know, a lot of these are amazing. They're just not the best. The best like they have to get a little bit better to be the best.
So, the next one, another Jean Paul Gaultier fragrance. This shows how much hype this brand gets and for good reason because they work. This is Le Male Le Parfum. Jean Paul Gaultier. In my opinion, the best, the smoothest version of Le Male. I think that this is a lot better than the Le Male Elixir because it's classier, it's cleaner, and it's easier to wear for more situations. So in this one you get some vanilla, you get cardamom, lavender, that tonka feel, but there is an iris that shows its head through here. That's what gives it the classiness. I really like this fragrance. I think I would say that this is the best version of Le Male. And some people are going to get so offended by this. I might get a wedgie in public if I ever get recognized again. Someone's going to be like, "You you insulted me. You you how dare you place this fragrance at S tier." Like I told you guys, I've lost my mind. I need some sleep. That's why I'm wearing this hat cuz I have bed head. I barely sleep anymore. I'm kept up at night by all the people I'm offending, haunting my dreams. S tier. Yeah, I said it. I think that this is an incredible fragrance. I just do.
We're in the final three. This is Versace Bombshell. I think that this is a very well done, fresh, clean fragrance that you can wear in the dead of summer. This is like kind of honestly I would say borderline cloning Chanel's Allure Homme Sport debatably. And because of that, I'm going to give it a little bit of a lower tier. It's good to take inspiration but not directly rip something off and give it less performance. I like this fragrance, don't get me wrong, but the performance is very bad in performance. It's honestly embarrassing. You get citruses in here. There is a little bit of an orange note. You get some tonka bean, uh some musk, a little bit of this like soapy neroli smell and lavender which gives it this crisp cleanliness. Good fragrance for the times. Doesn't keep up in today's market and that's why I'm placing it in B tier.
Dior Sauvage Elixir is up next. The absolute powerhouse in a bottle. Not my favorite scent profile in the world. Like, I really, really love the scent profile to this. I'm not going to be like one of those people that hate on it just to get a few extra clicks. It smells great. It does. And it commands such masculine energy, which is very hard to find in men's perfumery now. Nowadays, dried out warm spices, some licorice, some lavender, you get some amber in here, some black pepper, this nutmeg that kind of dries it out and gives it this base. I think that this is a very, very good fragrance. You only need like two or three sprays. It's insanely beast mode. Probably the strongest men's designer fragrance I have in my collection. 24-hour performance and chokes people out if you go above like five sprays. Very good atomizer, pressurized and magnetic cap from a premium brand. I'm going S tier. It's an S tier for me. I just think that it's such an incredible fragrance. It solves what everyone was missing. Like everyone was complaining fragrances nowadays are not strong. They're too unisex smelling with their amber and their tonka bean and their vanillas. We want something masculine. Now, this takes an old school men's kind of barber shop scent profile, elevates it, modernizes it. It's a masterpiece. It is. I'm sorry to say, guys. I'm sorry if you got your your underwear in a knot here, but I think it's very good.
Jean Paul Gaultier Ultra Male up next. And this is a good fragrance. There's a reason I have a 75 ml. I can't believe I'm saying this, but Jeremy Fragrance's Date for Men basically cloned this and added this kind of like pencil shaving type of oud to it. That makes that one a lot better. I cannot believe I'm saying that, but Date for Men is actually better than this. Very good with compliments. There's a reason why people refer to this as a compliment puller, a panty dropper. Oh my god, I just cringed on myself for saying that. But it really works for attention. I wore this on New Year's and got so many compliments. I'm not kidding when I say this. More compliments that makes me kind of feel like I need to keep wearing this. It's not my favorite Jean Paul Gaultier fragrance. In fact, at first I didn't even really like the scent profile. I thought it leaned incredibly feminine in my opinion. In my opinion right now, based off of my gut, I'm going B tier. A little bit overhyped for what it is. Very good though. B tier is still great. And that's why I'm going to move. Valentino Born in Roma Intense is getting downgraded to C tier. I just I'm a hater today, guys. I'm a hater today, but it cannot be in the category of some of those other fragrances. I'm sorry.
Now, the last one on this list I do not own. And the reason for that is because it's not my favorite flanker of the line. The next one is Dior Homme Intense. It's a lipsticky iris. Very, very strong performer. It takes the original Dior Homme and elevates it, making it sweeter, stronger, denser, more compliment magnet heavy. This is the most feminine version of Dior Intense. So, if that's not what you want, do not look for this fragrance. It's powdery. It gives a lipsticky feel with that iris. I just didn't vibe with it. But I thought it was a very in incredibly feminine leaning fragrance. That's fine if you like that one. It's very strong and I think that this perfumery done amazingly. The Dior Homme line is insanely classy, sophisticated for a well-dressed man. I'm going A tier for this one.
Now, I am curious to see which one of these ones were ranked highest on Fragrantica for being the most popular. So, let's see here. I'm going to go on Fragrantica right now. This is how I found this, by the way, by going to perfumes in search and then going to sort by most popular, right? And then male. Okay. Oh my goodness. You know what? I'm kind of surprised to see some of these results. Okay. So, the top three most popular, Le Male Elixir, Le Male Parfum, and Stronger With You Intensely. These are the most popular men's fragrances. Surprisingly, that just kind of shows the market of men's perfumery. Those are kind of unisex scent profiles in my opinion. And they're not the most manly man type of smells. In fact, I would say that the top seven are that could be unisex until you get to Jazz Club. Jazz Club is a very like man's man type of fragrance. But then we look down and it's like Eros, Versace, Bombshell, Dylan Blue, like we get Club Denui, Intense Man. Yeah. Like I'm actually somewhat in line with this ranking. Like if let's say Le Male Elixir is the most popular one on the list, but it does surprise me like now that I am reflecting it kind of surprises me seeing this many Jean Paul Gaultier fragrances on the top men's fragrances. A little bit weird actually. I I thought that there would be more iconic like men's fragrances here or more like Paco Rabanne stuff like that. But I'm actually incredibly shocked to see this. It's very interesting. I was expecting difference. Keep in mind guys, these are the most popular men's fragrances. Doesn't mean that they are the highest rated, but they're the ones that are the most talked about, the most discussed, people are influencing them a lot. So, these are the most popular and those are my opinions on those. I know no one's going to agree with me on all of them that I ranked on this tier list, but I genuinely want to hear.
