[Music] [Music] ladies and gentlemen michael pomizano here and uh feeling funky today doing d'angelo dealer's choice chicken grease i don't think i've ever done one of his videos reacted to one i was just on the website i searched d'angelo uh the links didn't work i don't know what why so i just went on youtube searched d'angelo live hit chicken grease i see chris rock hannah performed chicken grease off his forthcoming album voodoo please welcome d'angelo yeah what [Music] [Music] is [Music] [Music] so funky okay appeal and quest together what a dream what a dream uh that little chord right there i remember my bass player from my old band shawn is telling me man you gotta hit me with that d'angelo chord i said what what are you talking about d'angelo chord in this very instant i know what the hell you're talking about sean so we're funking in f sharp today right and it's just that little just a little piece of f sharp minor right up top really light on the wrist right kind of let it it's almost like a keyboard part like a um like a texture kind of thing really elevates the verse this is some serious stuff um [Music] oh [Music] five to six [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] come on [Music] everybody [Music] oh yeah [Applause] [Music] god okay so many great things just happened there so many great things quest pino no no no no no no no not calling me right now you're not calling me right now okay i know she's gonna call back because my grandmother she's 87 or something and i really should pick it up but d'angelo isn't finished okay i'll make this quick uh quest and pino together are absolutely unbelievable i mean obviously d'angelo is unbelievable the whole band the backup singers for the guitar player it's freaking great but this breakdown okay this breakdown when you just have the uh the claps everybody's clapping right and like talking to the back for the back beat right and then pino jumps in so percussive and listen to quest listen to quest jump in he's got this one part where the hi-hat is open right perfect shimmer that's with the with the piccolo right there drops the beat like man it was happening the whole time in the silence and you didn't know it until he told you [Music] [Music] hey [Music] [Music] funk is its own reward baby that is the real stuff right there that's why i play music everybody [Music] [Music] [Music] everybody [Music] hmm [Music] [Music] oh i know you love me [Music] [Applause] awesome just just just man of all the grooves in the world it's the funk that gets me going it is the funk that gets me going pino and quest together are so so so damn good the gang back up vocals p-funk style the super slick guitar like just this it's just a shimmer um but man the high hats that piccolo-ish just snare just the perfect duration of notes that pinot is is accentuating for quests hits i say it all the time i feel like i'm saying in every video now because it's just i think about it constantly is that the real groove the real funk made together is starts with the drums right and it's not everybody hitting at the same time right it's releasing at the same time the drum makes the kick right and that reverberates out into space but it's the base that makes it does it reverberate an eighth a quarter a whole whatever it is it's the duration of the note right that creates the funk it's the difference between you know right it's it's it could be the same note you can come in at the same time but the duration everybody understanding how much room you're working with in the pool and everybody being at the same depth is everything and this band just i mean it's on top of it it's everywhere it's everywhere it's in every little thing and it's just like oh my god quest with those hi-hats man he is just on it on it on it anyway uh yeah we need to do more funk more d'angelo this is awesome uh no one requested this okay i requested this i don't even know what's happening i'm in a manic state now i love you all thanks for watching thanks for liking if you like this channel you can tell it's different you're into live music you get amped up makes you want to play please subscribe and if you want to take it a step further you want to take you want to see all my lessons all my courses you want to see all my videos ad free you want to support the channel or you just want to be a part of the community that is just playing every day and you know we're motivating each other to be a little bit better click the first link it's called guitargate it's how i support this whole thing and uh have a great day everybody funk is its own reward that is so goddamn okay next one
