Do you ever feel like the people with money are really biased, but you don't feel sure of yourself? Right. Well, let me introduce you to Jacob Reese Mog, the Michelin star tasting menu of a rich person with unconscious bias. He recently did a video on why we shouldn't have a mansion tax. And completely seriously, this is how he started the video.
"You may reasonably think that I have a vested interest in the question of a mansion tax. I can't claim that where I'm recording this is what estate agents call a Beiju residence. It's one that has sufficient rooms for a vast number of children." >> "A vast number of children."
He's so divorced from everyday reality, he doesn't even know that he literally looks like the child catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Yes, somewhere I can smell them. >> But let's get to the point because when you grow up with unlimited freedom, boundaries made of marshmallow, where life is all one big safety net, you have no consequences or they're optional. You genuinely can't hear how mad you sound to the normal humans.
So for example, Jacob tells us confidently, authoritatively that capital taxes aren't for revenue or growth, >> but to punish people, class of people that a government doesn't like. >> So Jacob tells us confidently, authoritatively why a mansion tax is unfair. So obviously he points at an obvious example to show us that. Here's the example.
So if you suddenly say to them they've got to pay an extra tax even at 1% over the value of 2 million pounds you will find that there are individuals who are very badly affected by this. >> The archetypal struggling family the ones with the 2 million pound house. Yes, Jacob. And he says it with such confidence like he's entirely right like he has no skin in the game.
It's literally like asking a turkey for balanced advice on Christmas dinner. Hello. As a turkey, I feel it is my place to tell you what to have for Christmas dinner. And really, you don't want turkey. Oh, it's horrible. Why not have yourself some tasty goose? Because that's what happens when the extremely rich explain tax policy. The bias is so loud they genuinely are untethered to reality.
