Y'all, I just can't do it anymore. I can't. I guess for the first time, I'm just beat. I feel defeated.
I've been in this sixth grade classroom since elementary, um, since January 7th. I was scheduled through tomorrow. I'm not showing up tomorrow. I can't.
Um, these kids are a challenge. The lesson plans, they suck. So, that plays into the behaviors, but it has challenged me so much. And no matter what I try to do, they just, they it won't go through their heads. I don't know what to do. They need someone else to come in here because the teacher is supposed to be gone through the end of the year. Um, they need to figure something out.
Um, over the last like two and a half weeks, I've had three or four different teachers come in here, talk to them, you know, crash out on them. The assistant principal, the counselor, the principal, like sending kids to the office, just everything that we can do in our power to try to rein them in. They just refuse.
You know, they're in a weird time right now because the lesson plans, like I said, they're not very good. There's a lot of free time. I've had to try and find things for them to do, but all I ask from them is stay in your seat, do your work, keep the volume at an appropriate level, and we're good. We're good. They can't even do that.
This is uh becoming a real, real problem. And to be honest with you, you're just now starting to hear people speak out about it, but it's been a problem for a long time. And it was highlighted during the pandemic, but everybody kind of stayed quiet because everybody was getting money and they was happy to be working from home and still getting paid. But this has been a problem for a long time.
And ever since social media's and to be honest with you, these phones and kids started with phones and parents started to allow for their children to be taught based off of what was on the iPad and they started shipping Chromebooks into the schools. I knew that it was going downhill from there because parents aren't engaged enough to actually do the what's best with, you know, for their children. And so the parents in a lot of instances can't even read. And so you're seeing a lot of these kids crash out because they're not, they don't have the home training, nor do they have the discipline to do what they're supposed to do. So now teachers are just over-glorified babysitters. That's really what you're seeing.
