Today's lesson is very useful and practical. We're going to learn words, phrases, and sentences about daily routines, the things you do every day. This is perfect for beginner and intermediate level learners. Now, listen carefully.

This video is for everyone. Are you a complete beginner? This video is for you. Are you at an intermediate level? This video is also for you. Here's why. I'm going to start with simple, easy words that beginners need, but then I'm going to teach you better phrases, natural expressions, and secrets that even intermediate learners don't know. So, please don't skip any part of this video. Even if you think, "Oh, I already know this part." Trust me, keep watching because I promise you, by the end of this video, you will learn so many new things. You'll learn words you've never heard before, phrases that will make you sound more natural, and expressions that native speakers use every single day. And if any sentence or word is difficult, don't worry. I will try my best to explain it to you. And here's the best part. I'm not going to give you boring textbook English. I'm going to teach you real English, the way people actually speak in daily life.

So, here's what I want you to do. Grab a notebook, get comfortable, and watch this video from start to finish. I promise you, it will be worth it. If you're new here, my name is Zane, and I help English learners like you speak English with confidence every single day.

Let's start at the beginning, the morning. For most people, this is the hardest part of the day, right? So, what happens first? Your alarm goes off. "Goes off" means your alarm makes a sound. Ring, ring, ring. We say, "My alarm goes off at 6:30 a.m. I wake up at 7:00." What's the difference? The alarm goes off. The alarm makes noise. You wake up. You open your eyes and stop sleeping. Some people love mornings. "I'm a morning person." This means you feel happy and energetic in the morning. Other people don't like mornings. "I'm not a morning person." This means you feel tired in the morning. I hit the snooze button. The snooze button gives you five more minutes of sleep. After you wake up, I get out of bed at 7:15. "Get out of bed" means you leave your bed and stand up. I stretch. You move your arms and legs to wake up your body. Next, you go to the bathroom. I brush my teeth. You use a toothbrush and toothpaste. I wash my face. You use water and soap to feel fresh. I take a shower or I have a shower. Both are correct. After the shower, I dry myself with a towel. A towel is cloth you use to dry your body. I comb my hair. You make your hair look neat. Now you put on clothes. I get dressed for work. I put on my clothes. I wear a suit to work. Or I wear jeans and a t-shirt. Remember, "put on" the action you do now. "Wear" what's on your body. Time for breakfast. Breakfast is the first meal of the day. I have breakfast at 8:00. I eat cereal with milk. Cereal is small pieces you eat in a bowl with milk. I make eggs and toast. Toast is bread you cook until it's brown. I drink coffee. Some people skip breakfast. "Skip" means you don't do something. But breakfast is important for energy. Finally, you leave. I leave the house at 8:30. I lock the door. You close it with a key. Perfect. That's the morning routine.

Now, let's talk about going to work. Okay. Now, you're ready to go to work. Let's talk about different ways people go to work. I go to work by car. This means you drive your own car to the office. I drive to work. This is another way to say the same thing. I go to work by bus. This means you take the public bus. The bus stops at many places and picks up many people. I take the bus to work. Both sentences mean the same. I go to work by train. Many people use trains, especially in big cities. Trains are fast and can carry many people. I go to work by bike. This means you ride a bicycle to work. It's good exercise. I walk to work. This means you go to work on foot. No car, no bus, no bike, just your legs. This is great if you live close to your office. I commute to work. What does "commute" mean? Commute means the travel from your home to your workplace. My commute takes 30 minutes. This means the journey is 30 minutes long. Sometimes there are problems. I'm stuck in traffic. What does "stuck in traffic" mean? It means there are too many cars on the road. You cannot move fast. Very frustrating. The traffic is terrible today. Finally, I arrive at work at 9:00 a.m. "Arrive" means you reach your workplace. I get to work at 9:00 a.m. Same meaning.

Now, let's talk about what you do at work. If you work in an office, I sit at my desk. A desk is a table where you work. I turn on my computer. I check my emails. Emails are messages you send and receive on the computer. I reply to emails. "Reply" means you answer the emails. I have meetings. A meeting is when you talk with your colleagues about work. Colleagues are people you work with. I attend meetings. "Attend" means you go to the meetings. I make phone calls. You call clients or customers. I talk on the phone. I work on projects. A project is a big task or assignment at work. I complete my tasks. A task is work you need to finish. I take a break. A break is when you stop working for a few minutes to rest. I drink coffee during my break. Around 12:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. it's lunchtime. Lunch is the meal you eat in the middle of the day. I have lunch at 1:00 p.m. I take a lunch break. My lunch break is 30 minutes or my lunch break is 1 hour. I eat lunch at my desk. This means you eat while you work. Many busy people do this. I go to a restaurant for lunch. You leave the office and eat outside. I bring lunch from home. This means you prepare food at home. You put it in a lunch box, then you eat it at work. This saves money. After lunch, I go back to work. I continue my work. I finish my tasks before 5:00 p.m. Finally, the work day ends. I finish work at 5:00 p.m. Or I finish work at 6:00 p.m. I leave the office. I clock out. "Clock out" means you officially stop working. Sometimes people work extra hours. I work overtime. Overtime means you work more than your normal hours. I stay late at the office. I work until 7:00 p.m. today.

Perfect. Now it's evening time. The evening is after work, usually from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. or 10:00 p.m. This is when you finally relax after a long day. When you finish work, I leave the office at 6:00 p.m. I go home. I commute back home. Remember, "commute" means the journey. I arrive home at 6:30 p.m. or I get home at 6:30 p.m. Both mean the same. When you arrive home, I take off my shoes. "Take off" means you remove something. I change my clothes. I put on comfortable clothes. Comfortable means relaxed and easy to wear. Now you can relax. I sit on the sofa. A sofa is a big comfortable chair for sitting. I watch TV. I watch Netflix. I scroll through my phone. "Scroll" means you move your finger up and down on your phone screen. I listen to music. I read a book. I play video games.

Now, let's talk about dinner. Dinner is the meal you eat in the evening. I have dinner at 7:00 p.m. or I eat dinner at 8:00 p.m. I cook dinner. This means you make food yourself. I prepare a meal. Same meaning. If you don't cook, I order food online. You use an app on your phone to buy food. I order pizza. I order Chinese food. The food comes to your house. After dinner, I wash the dishes. Or I do the dishes. Both mean you clean the plates, cups, and spoons. Perfect. That's the basic evening routine.

But sometimes you do other things in the evening. Let's learn about meeting friends and going to the gym. Sometimes after work you meet friends. I meet my friends after work. This means you see your friends when work finishes. I meet my friends at a cafe. A cafe is a small restaurant where you drink coffee and tea. I hang out with my friends. What does "hang out" mean? This means you spend time with friends in a relaxed way, just talking, laughing, having fun. We go to a restaurant together. We eat dinner together. We chat and catch up. "Chat" means talk. "Catch up" means you talk about what happened in your life recently. You share news and stories. I grab coffee with a friend. "Grab coffee" is informal English. It means you quickly meet someone and drink coffee together. We watch a movie together. You go to the cinema with friends. I spend time with my friends. Simple. You are together with your friends. Sometimes we make plans. "Let's meet tomorrow." "Can we meet at 6:00 p.m.?" "Where should we meet?" "Let's meet at the coffee shop." Friends are important. Meeting friends makes us happy and relaxed.

Many people go to the gym in the evening. The gym is a place with equipment for exercise. I go to the gym after work. I go to the gym at 7:00 p.m. I go to the gym three times a week. Three times a week means three days every week. I work out at the gym. What does "work out" mean? It means you do exercise. What do people do at the gym? I lift weights. Weights are heavy metal objects. You lift them to make your muscles strong. I run on the treadmill. A treadmill is a machine. You run on it, but you stay in the same place. I do cardio. What is cardio? Cardio means exercise that makes your heart beat fast, like running, cycling, or jumping. I use the exercise bike. This is a bicycle machine. You sit and move your legs. I do yoga. Yoga is exercise where you stretch your body. It makes you flexible and relaxed. I take a fitness class. A fitness class means a teacher shows you exercises. Many people exercise together. After the gym, I feel tired but good. I take a shower at the gym. Most gyms have showers. I drink water. Very important after exercise. I go home after the gym. I arrive home at 9:00 p.m. Going to the gym is healthy. It keeps your body strong and fit.

Finally, it's time to go home and sleep. After a long day, you need rest. You arrive home late. I get home at 9:00 p.m. Or I arrive home at 10:00 p.m. You're tired now. I'm exhausted. "Exhausted" means very tired. Now it's time to prepare for bed. This is called your bedtime routine. First, I brush my teeth before bed. Everyone should do this. I wash my face. I take off my makeup. For people who wear makeup. I put on my pajamas. Pajamas are special clothes you wear for sleeping. They're comfortable and soft. Some people I take a shower before bed. Some people like to shower at night, not in the morning. I read a book for 20 minutes. Reading helps you relax. I set my alarm for tomorrow. Very important. Don't forget this. I set my alarm for 7 a.m. I turn off the lights. I close the curtains. Curtains are cloth that covers your windows. I check my phone one last time. Many people do this. Finally, I go to bed at 11 p.m. I get into bed. You climb into your bed under the blanket. I fall asleep. "Fall asleep" means you start sleeping. Some people say, "I can't fall asleep." This means you try to sleep, but you can't. I have trouble sleeping. Same meaning, sleeping is difficult for you. But hopefully, I sleep well. I get 8 hours of sleep. 8 hours is healthy. I sleep like a baby. This is an idiom. It means you sleep very well.

And that's it. That's a complete day in English from morning to night. Okay. Next, we're going to practice some important sentences. Remember, repeat each sentence after me out loud. Don't just listen. You must speak. Let's start.
