In this video, I'm going to answer the 10 most common questions that people ask me about hypnosis and the biggest misconceptions. I've got them here on my phone.

Okay, so the first question and the most common one that people ask me is, is hypnosis even real? Like, does it actually work? Is it even a real thing? So, you first need to understand what hypnosis even is. So, hypnosis is quite simply a state where you're more internal than external. The science behind it is that we have different brainwave states. So for example, when you're sleeping, you're in what's called delta. Right now, you're in a brainwave state called beta. So you're conscious. A hypnotic state is when you go into a state called theta, or that's the same thing as trance.

Now, what that means quite simply is it's a state where you're relaxed, but you're still focused. So this is actually the state that children are primarily in from zero until 8 years old. So, have you ever wondered why is it that a child can learn different languages, different skills, learn to walk, and they're literally like a little supercomputer who can pick up things so quickly? Well, the primary reason is 'cause they're actually in hypnosis that 80% of the time they're in the theta brain wave state. So, if you see a child, they can imagine something and it's like they're living in that reality. Well, this is exactly what hypnosis is. It's when you're more subconscious than conscious. Basically, you have your conscious mind, which is less than 1% of your mind, and then you have your subconscious mind, which is the puppet master running the show. So, this is why sometimes you can logically know you should do something, and you probably know what you should be doing, but for some reason, you're not doing it. This is because in your subconscious, it's working against you. So, this is what hypnosis actually is.

Now, can you get into hypnosis? Well, you're already in it. Whenever you wake up in the morning, you're in a hypnotic state. When you're brushing your teeth and you have ideas, you're in a hypnotic state. When you're showering and those thoughts come through or you're driving a car and you think, "How the heck did I even just get to my destination?" You go on autopilot. You're in hypnosis. So, is it real? Well, you're in it most of the time anyway without even realizing it. So, my job is actually to dehypnotize you from the random limiting beliefs and fears that you have in the first place. So, that's quite simply how it works.

Now, you probably have a misconception about hypnosis that it's, you know, someone goes sleep and then how does that even happen, right? And then someone's quacking like a duck. Well, I'll be completely honest with you. Some of that stuff is staged. It isn't fully real. But is it possible? 100%. I've done it with literally over 4,000 people at this point. So, it's real in that sense. Now, depending on who you are, there's going to be different levels of how easily you can be hypnotized. The most successful clients that I work with are actually the easiest to hypnotize. Why? Because they're the most open-minded. Hypnosis is more about allowing yourself to go into this relaxed state than fighting against it. So that's essentially all hypnosis is how it actually works.

So when I hypnotize people, they're always surprised because they imagine that they're actually going to go to sleep, which is the second most common question. Do I actually go to sleep? Because you hear the word sleep. Now you don't actually go to sleep. You can, but really you're just going into a relaxed state. The reason why I say the word sleep or you hear that is because it's a primer to your mind to know what that means. When you sleep, you know what that means, right? You go like this, you're tired. So that helps to induce a hypnotic state, but really all it means is relax.

One of the second biggest questions I get is, will I lose control? Am I going to go do something crazy? Like, is this thing even safe? Now, the reality is is that if you understand that you're already being hypnotized, like if imagine when you see someone on their phone and they're walking down the street and they're looking at it and they just cross a road without even looking around them, that person looks like a zombie, right? They're in a trance. They're in hypnosis. So, you're already there. So, will you lose control? This is actually the opposite. What you're doing is you're getting control back of your mind to be able to gain the control back. So you're getting out of being hypnotized to be able to put yourself in the right state. So you are 100% in control the entire time through the process. If you do not want to be hypnotized, you won't be. It's quite simply you just allowing it to happen. The reason why maybe if you've tried it before, you've heard people try it before, and maybe some people you heard had this crazy revelation and others didn't, the only reason the people didn't have it is because they didn't want to or allow themselves to actually be hypnotized. Because you're in control the whole time. So, of course, if you're working with somebody or you're working with me, you're going to want it to work. So, you're controlling it and allowing it to happen.

Another fear some people have is, well, what if I don't wake up? What if I just stay in that state? Well, here's the thing. You're not actually going to sleep. You're just into a relaxed state. So, it's kind of like if you think about when you go for a massage, okay, what do you do when you go for a massage? You go into the room, you lay on the table, and you just relax. So you don't have the fear about will I get up from the massage, right? Because you know you'll just get up. Well, it's really the exact same thing with hypnosis. And if you really think about it, in a massage, you might actually fall asleep. Like I fall asleep all the time, but I don't have the fear about not being woken up. The reason you have that fear is simply because you didn't understand it before and how it actually works. Again, all I'm doing with hypnosis is getting you into that altered relaxed state, the same state you go into as a child, so that you can be reprogrammed now so you have full control the whole time. You can get up whenever you choose and go from there. Now, could you be hypnotized to go deeper where you know you do do like quacking like a duck or whatever? Yeah, for sure that stuff is possible. There are different stages of hypnosis. But for the purpose of improving your life, which if you're watching this channel is or here, that's what you probably want to do. You're in control and you can wake up at any time.

Next question is, is hypnosis fake or is it a placebo? So, what even is the placebo? Every single clinically tested drug has to be tested against the placebo. So, for example, war veterans back in the day when they had their legs blown off and limbs blown off, they would be given morphine so that they would get out of pain. When they ran out of morphine during the war, they would have to inject them with saline solution and the doctor would tell them this is morphine. And guess what would happen? The pain would go away, right? Because they believed it to be true. Most people don't know this, but one of the first things hypnosis was actually used for was in dentists. Before they had anesthesia to get rid of pain, they would use hypnotherapists to get people into a relaxed state so they actually could not feel the pain. So you could say that is placebo, but here's the thing. The placebo is a real thing because placebo is when you believe something enough that it becomes true in your reality. So if you believe it's hypnosis or you believe it's just a placebo, it's basically the same thing. It doesn't really matter because the placebo is a real thing. What we're basically doing in hypnosis is changing your reality to a new set of belief systems where you believe it will be true.

One of the most common ways I do this is by deconstructing an old identity. Let's say you have a bad habit or you're lazy or you procrastinate or you can't focus or you don't have enough confidence. We use hypnosis to remove that old reality and then I install a new reality that you now believe to be true. A new identity, a new set of belief systems, a new set of standards. Because most people think that that can't change. But actually, this is the whole purpose of hypnosis. When you're in hypnosis, you can immediately just change into a new version of yourself. Like literally shapeshift. And the reason I even found out about this all in the first place is because I found out that most of the most successful entrepreneurs are using hypnosis as a tool. Also, you can see it in athletes. For example, Mike Tyson was hypnotized since he was 13 years old to become one of the greatest boxers of all time. That he would get hypnotized to believe that he's already beat the opponent that he's this machine that he doesn't even exist and so that he would just go out there and crush it because he would have such a strong mindset. It's just that high high level of belief and conviction.

Okay, the next question I got is, is stage hypnosis the same as therapeutic hypnosis or hypnotherapy or what's the difference? So, there is a difference. There's stage hypnosis, which is basically what you might see at a show where there's a guy and he calls people up and, you know, he's testing to see who's suggestible and then he's making them laugh or do silly things, right? That's more the theatrics of it. Now, there is an element of theatrics in that hypnosis that's more for entertainment. Okay? Some of that stuff is fake, right? But a lot of it is also real. The reality is it doesn't really matter because again, if you're using hypnosis to actually want to get results in your life, this is where hypnotherapy, which is actually a therapeutic practice which you study for, which I had to study for to learn how this works. This is what doctors will use. This is what's used in clinical psychology. This is what professional athletes will use.

Now, what I do is I actually blend both together because both of them have pros and cons. Typically with stage hypnosis, you'll be able to get people really quickly into trance. Now, why do you want to get quickly into trance? Well, the faster you can get into trance, the faster you can change. The problem with regular hypnotherapy, and if you're aware of it or you know what it is. So, basically, someone's just going to read a script for an hour 'cause they've learned it in school somewhere. Now, the problem with that is you're probably going to actually fall asleep 'cause you're so freaking bored. Now, look, that can help, but it's very slow. When often times people come to me when they've tried that before and it hasn't worked because it doesn't have the elements of hypnosis that you actually need to immediately cut in create that pattern interrupt get past your conscious mind to actually be able to create the change 'cause a lot of people will have the problem where they say like I can't be hypnotized or it doesn't work for me. That's the reason why because you're not actually going into hypnosis. You do need somebody who's actually good and got the results to be hypnotized properly.

And that leads me on to the next question which is is hypnosis dangerous? Now, hypnosis in of itself is not dangerous at all because being in hypnosis is one of the most restorative states you can be in. In fact, 1 hour of hypnosis is the equivalent of 8 hours of sleep in terms of restoration. Now, the only way it could be dangerous is one, if you just had a hypnotist or a hypnotherapist who had bad intentions and they did something negative to you. That's number one. This is why I always say you have to trust the person that you're working with and you should be able to verify the results that they're claiming they can get you, which they've either got themselves or for a lot of people. So, do your research first before you decide to work with somebody. The only other safety precaution that you do need to be aware of is that if you're on any medication or if you've got any kind of bipolar or brain disorder, it is something that I recommend you do consult with your doctor first and get written permission because it can have very strong effects on your mind. That that's really the only safety precautions you need to be aware of. If you don't have any of those things, hypnosis will be 100% safe for you.

Now, one of the next questions I get is, will I remember everything? Now this one does depend because often times people will come to me because say they want to remove a limiting belief, a fear or a trauma. Now in that case I'll take you into a state of what's called amnesia. Now amnesia obviously what you know what that means is when you forget stuff. Now in this case it can actually be very useful to forget certain things. So imagine you had something really bad happen to you that's been going around your mind or maybe had a bad experience and it stops you from showing up as the version of yourself that you want to. In that case, yes, I would help you to forget those things and actually delete them from your subconscious because we don't want them anymore. Aside from that, you will remember pretty much everything in the hypnotic state. Now, the more you go into it, I have clients who I work with over, you know, 3 months, 6 months, they'll go so deep into hypnosis that they'll go really deep in past life and then they'll just wake up and immediately feel the difference. That's more when you're advanced with hypnosis. The reality is it doesn't actually matter if you remember or not. All that matters is do you actually feel the difference after? If you don't immediately feel a difference after, then it probably wasn't actually that effective. And if people tell you that it is and doesn't matter, they're just not very good. You should immediately know a change has happened. You should feel it inside of you. You should be reacting after. So that's how you know.

Another question I'll get is, is this spiritual or does this affect my religion? You know, I work with a lot of people who are either Christian or Muslim. I personally am a follower of Jesus. So that's a big question that I get. Now, hypnosis in itself is a non-spiritual practice. Okay? Now, here's what I will say is that if you imagine that all of the negativity could go out of your mind or you're clearer or you're more focused, if you are religious, if anything, that will bring you closer to your higher power, whatever you believe in. But when we're working on a hypnotic state, it's simply neuroscience that we're using. This is a clinical practice again that doctors use. So, it's really more of a tool of transformation than anything to do with spirits or demons or anything like that.

Next question I'll get is how fast does the change really happen? Like, does it really actually happen as you show it? Okay, this is a great question. Here's one of the biggest misconceptions people have that change takes a long time. With that belief system, the reason why you find change takes a long time is because you're only using your conscious mind to try and change. So, basically, you're trying to think your way into change. It's impossible. It's like if you're sitting in front of your desk and you're trying to solve a problem. You can never really solve it or get the idea right. But then let's say you go for a walk or you don't focus on it or you're sitting in the sauna or you're doing exercise. Suddenly when you're not focusing the idea comes or maybe you go to sleep and wake up and then boom, the idea just seemingly come out of nowhere. The reason that's happened is because your subconscious has been able to pull it out for you. So it's actually easier to change fast than it is slowly in hypnosis. Simply because you're in the correct state which is the theta state which is that relaxed focused state that you go into. So yes, it is actually very possible to achieve change that fast. Now I'm not going to sit here and guarantee you that it will immediately happen in 5 minutes. In a lot of cases, it does happen within a session. But I always recommend that you do this work consistently and that you actually practice it, right? 'Cause it's like a muscle. 'Cause I can hypnotize you. That can reprogram your mind in a short amount of time. But then if you go back to just thinking the same way, feeling the same way, acting the same way, and just work against it, you'll eventually rehypnotize yourself back to who you were. So my success rate is extremely high because I make sure that my clients are consistent with the practice and that consistency takes about 10 minutes a day. Okay? So you have to continuously re-re yourself of who you are for the best results.

A lot of people always ask, well, what's the difference between meditation and hypnosis or affirmation and hypnosis or some kind of mindset work and hypnosis? Those all have their place. Hypnosis is basically the next step up. It's a more advanced form because what most of those things are doing, let's take affirmations for example. Let's say you're saying, "I'm rich and I'm wealthy." Well, again, why does that not work for most people? It doesn't work for most people because you don't actually believe what the heck you're saying, right? You're saying, "I'm rich." But then you look around and you're not rich. Well, your reality is going to tell you you're not. So, you're not actually going to believe it. So, the belief is the key. So, this is why in hypnosis, the main difference is when you're in hypnosis, your mind is actually open to new suggestions. This is why, for example, in advertising or you'll see they'll do this crazy pattern interrupt or they'll do something out of the ordinary. Why? Because it actually bypasses your conscious mind, gets you into hypnotic state, and then right as you're feeling the best, boom, they'll pitch their product to you, right? They've got you into a form of trance to be able to create that change. So, this is the main difference between hypnosis and all of those other modalities. And again, the only reason why this works differently is because of that state that you're in.

For those of you who think, "Yeah, but my mind's too strong, or I have too many thoughts in my mind, like I can't be hypnotized." It's so funny how many people just tell me this and you got to realize that I'm working with extremely high-performing logical CEOs. These are seven, eight, nine, 10-figure entrepreneurs. Do you think these guys are just gullible people who are just like walking around willy-nilly? No. These are very, very serious people who are very logical. So, if you think that you can't be hypnotized, it's just because you didn't understand how hypnosis works. You're already going into hypnosis. I'm dehypnotizing you first so that you can be hypnotized. Now, maybe you're not going to go start quacking like a duck, but again, that's not the goal of this. That's not what we actually want to do this for. We're using it for self-transformation. So, if you can follow my instructions and relax, you can be hypnotized.
