Want a cute Bible bag that's stylish and practical? Well, in this video, I'm going to show you how to make one in just a few easy steps. We're also going to make the pocket on the front a little different. It's actually two pockets, and I've never made a pocket like this before, so stick around so you can see how that pocket is made.
This is the little Bible bag. It's a Bible tote bag. It's really cute. I found this fabric at Hobby Lobby. It's got some Christian printed stuff on it, like different sayings like "walk by faith, not by sight," "let the fields be jubilant," "Praise Him," and some different little Bible scriptures on it, so it's just really cute. And then I use this gray canvas that I got also from Hobby Lobby as well. The two pockets on the front, like I said, were a little different. You can put highlighters in there, whatever you want to put in the front pockets. It's also big enough to fit an iPad and also a regular-size Bible. And then I also added some D-rings on the side in case you want to make a long strap to wear it to church. So this is the perfect little tote bag to bring to Sunday school or to church on Sunday. So let's go make this bag.

All you need for this project is some canvas fabric for the outside, some cotton fabric for the lining, some cotton webbing for the straps, and two small 1/4-inch D-rings. All the measurements are on screen coming up next. So all you have to do is pause the video. You can write them down or screenshot them and cut out all the pieces for this project.
First, we're going to start by cutting out all the pieces, and then I'm going to take some fusible fleece and just iron to the back sides of all the pieces. I'm going to cut the fusible fleece about a 1/2 inch smaller all the way around, just to keep it out of the seam allowance. So I decided to try a new style for the pocket on the outside. I saw a bag that I really liked on Teu, and instead of purchasing it, I was like, "That looks like a really simple way to make a pocket for a tote bag." So let's give it a try in this video. So that's what I decided to do is create a different style pocket on the outside by cutting two pieces of fabric and facing them right sides together, and then I'm going to sew them all the way around and leave an opening. Turn it inside out, give it a really good pressing, and then just kind of pay attention to how I folded the edges and the middle parts of this piece of fabric to create the pockets for the outside. I'm going to sew down the middle and sew down the sides, and then that's really it. All there is to making these two pockets on the front of the Bible bag. So I tried to slow the video down just a little bit so I can show you how I created it. So after sewing all the way around both layers of the pocket and leaving an opening, I'm going to turn it inside out and then press it really good, like I said. And then we're going to start to create the pockets on the front. We're going to sew right across that opening on the pocket piece as we're attaching the pocket piece to the front panel.

So to start off, I just pinned the pocket piece 1 inch away from both ends of the front panel. And I don't think I showed this, but I did sew across the top of the pocket piece with about a 1/4 of an inch allowance, just to give it a nice little finishing seam right across the top of the pocket. Now I'm just going to sew down each side of the pocket piece.

And then I folded each edge, um, right to the edge of the pocket on each side, and then I stuck some pins in it to hold everything in place.

And then I folded the center to create both pockets. I just tried to make sure the pockets were even on both sides.

And then I pressed it really good so that way all the folds had a nice crease. And then after that, I sewed along the bottom of the pocket, and then I also sewed down the middle right underneath the crease on both sides.

After that, I just pressed it one more time to just make sure everything is nice and flat on the pocket piece. And then after that, I'm just going to construct the bag the same way I normally construct any regular tote bag. I'm going to add the side panels first onto the back panel, and then I'm going to add the base to the back panel, and then after that, I'm going to add the front panel where we just created the pocket for it and attach everything together and stick some pins in it and sew down all the sides.

And now I'm going to make the lining bag the same way that I attached all the pieces for the outer bag.
