If we take a serious look at this Toronto Raptors front office track record in the NBA draft, it is clear who Bobby Webster is going to select if he is available with the number 19 overall selection. I know there's a bunch of smoke. There's a bunch of misdirection. There's a bunch of stuff always going on and Dan Tolman getting caught scouting one of these top prospects as of late and who could be in the range of the Toronto Raptors number 19th overall selection.
But I want to focus, we'll talk about that in this video because there are some reports and chatter and buzz that have come out which we'll get into later in the video. But I want to start this one off and I want to dedicate this vid to a player that frankly the history of this front office, the style of players that they end up liking to draft and even the quotes that Bobby Webster said at his end of season press conference. I believe if he is available out there at the number 19th overall selection, Chris Sak is going to be a guy Senk Sak. I've heard a bunch of different pronunciations so trying to get it right. but a guy that the Toronto Raptors will probably take if he's going to be available with that number 19th overall selection.
So, we'll break down why. Take a look at his stats and why even though the stats aren't super overwhelming, almost makes it more of an indicator that the Toronto Raptors be likely to draft this guy with their pick in the first round, as well as Dan Tolsman getting caught scouting one of these guys at their specifically at their prodays who, you know, is of course the Toronto Raptor assistant GM. But let's dive into, you know, what's going on with the NBA draft because there's a lot of names. There's a lot of players that are always thrown at you all the time, especially when you are drafting in the range the Toronto Raptors are drafting in right now. the number 19th overall pick and Chris Senk is Chris and Chris Chris Senic I I've literally heard multiple pronunciations so I have a role with both but basically he's a guy that uh is a very interesting player you know he's one of the the players a lot of people are calling him for big men nearly 7 foot 6'11 240 lbs extremely extremely strong athlete you know he's a 37 inch vertical which is great for a big man at that height and statistically didn't overwhelm you specifically last year or really anyone at that point right? 9.5 points per game, eight rebounds, not open up the same numbers that we saw like a Bua Aorei or Bennett Sts, you have the 20 plus per games. But what this guy can really do is bring a feat of athleticism and be a big man. And he also has shown some potential out there with his jump shot. You see shooting 33% from the three-point line on 2.4 attempts per game. So that is by no means nothing in terms of uh you know how the potential that is certainly there as a as a jump shooter for a specific you know it's got to develop it's got to come into its own a little bit but again out there playing in Houston is a is a player that a lot of people like in terms of the upside he's only 19 years old and for what he could provide out there for your team get a better look the defensive stats at 24 minutes per night only took eight shots per game so was fairly effective out there from the field especially where you A quarter of those shots were from behind the three-point line. The stats aren't that overwhelming.
So, you might look at this and be like, Ben, what are we doing here? Talk about a guy that couldn't even average double digit points per game. Well, specifically in terms of what he has to offer for this team. It is it is very intriguing, especially with the Raptors needs. So, he has excellent size, length, and mobility to create strong upside for a modern NBA big. He's a strong rebounding instincts and physicality that leads to consistent production out there on the glass. He has flashes of shooting, handling, and facing up scoring. Uh, you know, he can score in a lot of different areas. So, he's not just one of these super uber athlete big men that, you know, struggle that finish around the basket, but struggle anything outside the key. And he's a great rim runner, law finisher, and transitions core. And this is something that, frankly, Bobby Webster, the Raptors front office. Obviously, Messiah Jerry's no longer in Toronto. He's down in Dallas. But this is the type of guy that they've tried that they have drafted over the past three to four years, right? We saw Christian Koko get drafted by the Toronto Raptor. Show a ton of upside then unfortunately dealt with a season ending or career ending. It felt like at the time injury had to get covered by the team. We draft an ol shamsh who similarly very effective fast rim running big man that has these cool intangibles that has the upside that has the athleticism and then unfortunately deals with another similar blood clotting issue or whatever the the reports are. I don't know if those were came out publicly. So the Raptors have went in this direction at a similar draft range before. Now those were second round picks. This is a later first round picks. The Raptors have drafted guards. I mean, Jacobe Walters, you know, rounded number 19 overall selection. Like, the Raptors have, you know, gone different ways, different directions. But multiple times over the past few years, they've drafted a rim running athletic big men. And, you know, that had some raw upside that had potential, but people weren't sure about the direction they were going. That had some potential out there as a jump shooter. It feels like the front office would really, really be interested in bringing in a guy like Senk out there for this team.
Now, it doesn't come with a guaranteed, you know, oh, this is a surefile perfect prospect. You know, his game remains extremely raw, so you need patience and long-term development. I mean, these are some of the things that they were saying about Colin Murray Boles last year, which is kind of crazy, but half court offense is still limited, especially when creating shots or scoring in the post. So, doesn't have a great, you know, touch postgame, creating his own buckets. You know, shooting touch is promising, but inconsistent from three and free throw line. So, you know, something to certainly take a look at. and the defensive tools are impressive, but rim protection, discipline, and awareness need growth. So, all the raw aspects, the athleticism is there, but doesn't have the skills specifically developed just yet to be that surefire polished like no, you know, and that's a reason why he's available or could be available out there at the number 19th overall pick. You know, looking at different mock drafts, he's been uh, you know, landed in different places, you know, on the the Raptors range. Let's get the right one up here. basically uh, you know in this draft they have him going in the number 16th overall selection and uh, you know I think that's from Tankathon and then you also have this draft uh selection here and they have Senate going uh, you know in not even going in the first round. So he's had a wide range. I've seen him lottery and then you know second round like he's going all over the place in these different mock drafts that are happening.
But Bob Webster said specifically right like our philosophy has always been getting two-way players. I think I said this this summer we are in talent acquisition. We still need more better players. There will be a time when it feels like, okay, this specific piece will put us over the top, but right now the Toronto Raptors are still in the talent acquisition phase. So whether they're Raw, whether they have eye upside, whether whatever the heck is going on, you know, Senk feels like the type of guy the Raw cross with the Raptors have gone after in the past. But again, usually they like to get players that have sure to have proven out there on the defensive side of the ball that they have that uh, you know, athleticism as well as the skills as a rim protector, discipline, awareness. You seen the last bullet point. He hasn't shown the consistency out there on that side of the ball just yet, but obviously has the raw upside there. Is athletic is a dog. You know, they want these guys to play these two-way player styles. But, you know, this is the type of dudes that uh the Raptors have drafted as of late. So again, maybe a better shot blocker, maybe a better rim protector, but in terms of being a athlete, in terms of having the upside, he's a guy I would not be shocked if you see Bobby Webster end up selecting with the number 19th overall pick, especially given how, you know, the balance of our roster is looking. You do have a lot of different pieces. You do have a lot of different guys out there. You know, Mobo, what's his future with this team? Is Sandre Momish really going to be brought back as he's a impending free agent? CB is obviously going to be on this team. How does Trace Jackson Davis fit into it all? because he's a guy that we traded for at the trade deadline and showed some potential. He was dominant out there in the G- League, but in 53 games this season, only 3.4 points per game, 2.7 rebounds, you know, definitely uh showed some stuff, 100% from out the the three or from the three-point line, you know, very very very small sample size, but definitely a guy that didn't get a ton of opportunity last year, but you never know if he could find his way sneak his way back into the lineup.
So, let me know in the comment section. Would you like to see the Toronto Raptors drafts? Chris Senk for yes and for no. But this isn't the only guy that's been uh brought up in terms of who the Raptors are looking at as Dan Tolsman was caught uh scouting out scouting out Leberon Fuence uh Phylon's draft day or proday. Again, pronunciations are kind of going all over the place, but he was out there directly scouting another guard. And this might be something that frustrates a lot of Raptor fans. I've seen in the comment section, right? Like, oh, another guard. We don't need another guard. We don't need another small guy out there on this team. Well, frankly, if we look at this uh this guy, if he's available at number 19, you have to end up selecting him.
So, Leber Leber Filon, a guy that 6'4, played for Alabama last season, 22 points per game, five uh assists, 3.5 rebounds, shot 40% from the three-point line with six attempts per game. So, you know, very efficient stuff. 1.2 steals per night. Player that, you know, looking at the strengths of weaknesses, can have a serious impact if he ends up getting selected by the Raptors. I mean, you know, advanced uh change of pace ability to makes it easy to create separation, break down defenders, so he can slash and create. He's showing the pick and roll allows uh the offense to flow through with smart reads and timely passes. Improved shooting efficiency, which gives scoring profiles a threele upside. So, you know, can get the buckets from all areas of the court and has a competitive edge, confidence, and leadership traits, that a strong league guard uh foundation. So like LeBron's a guy that uh high character, you know, in terms of leadership, confidence, he can lead a group, feels again, if he's available, he's mocked to go a lot of uh a lot higher than Toronto Raptors. I've seen him go, you know, I think the Mavs guys made a video on him going number nine, right? They have him going 13th out there in this mock draft, the Miami Heat. You know, he's uh he's not usually predicted to fall 17th out there to the Thunder. So, it'll be surprising if he ends up being available with the number 19th overall selection, but there are some holes in his games that we can bring up. You know, his shooting mechanics are a bit unconventional, be a little bit of a weird decisionmaker at times. You know, he doesn't have a crazy vertical pop, so he's not going to be dunking on people every single possession. And the defensive focus screen navigation can fluctuate despite solid instincts. So, there are some things to certainly improve, but he's a guy similar to Buuka Cororey.
Now, I've seen some stuff like I saw a mock draft where Corey ends up going, "Uh, is this the one?" I think they have. Yeah, they have them going 26 out there in this mock draft, which I thought would be absolutely insane. So, frankly, the way the mock drafts are going outside the top, you know, five, six, seven, feels like the Raptors might be able to draft anyone here now at this point. So, we'll see how things end up shaking out. We'll try to cover all the players the Toronto Raptors have a potential of getting, you know, going into the draft leading up to things, but it'll be very very interesting to see how these mock drafts ended end up stabilizing as we get more and more, you know, workouts being done and inch closer and closer to the NBA draft.
