And if I ever say the Holy Ghost spoke to me, you'd mark it down that the Holy Ghost spoke because I don't use those terms lightly. I don't like to put words in God's mouth, but the Holy Ghost spoke to me and said, "There's miracles I want to work in every section of this building." [Music] Creating proper atmosphere back there to receive their miracle. So if I was you, as you and I am, or I'd come out of that pew and I'd come up around this front and I'd say, "God, I'm not leaving here today without you doing some things in my life." [Music] It's usually not like that around here. Usually, it leaves the altar and it goes all the way back under the balcony. But I'm just telling you, it's kind of stopping today. I don't know what you need to do. I know if you need to join up with somebody around you or what, but I'm just telling you, the miracle workers in the house. And I can't promise you he's going to work every miracle because he's a sovereign God and some reason he does things different than I would do it. But I'm telling you, there's a there is a promise today that if you worship him, if you lift him up, if you magnify him, there's a good chance he'll show up and he'll work in your circumstance and in your situation. So, so now, um, we, we have a, we have a special guest that's going to, I asked him to preach today. And I, I was trying to remember, how many years have you been a missionary to the country of France? 27 years. He's been a missionary to the country of France. And I'm sure he'll tell us some about that today. But, uh, when I found out that they were going to be here for their son's wedding, brother Justin brochure shoe, this is his parents. And he, he and Kayla got married yesterday. This might be the first time in 25 years of pastoring, actually over 30 of being in the ministry, that I've ever been a part of a wedding and they were in church the next day. So God blessed their zeal for the kingdom of God. Anyway, we're very thankful that the brochures are with us. And you know, we usually have 30 to 40 minutes of worship and then that gives the preacher, you know, an hour, 20 minutes or so to preach and give his altar call and all that kind of stuff. We're running behind today, but I don't believe anybody would complain about that because God has had His way and people have been healed, people have received the baptism. I don't know how many he's got the Holy Ghost today. We had several receive the Holy Ghost for the first time. We had several backsliders restored to the anointing of the Holy Ghost today. The restoration has taken place. There's no doubt. Healings have taken place. I looked over to the right hand side of the building today and saw three generations shouting and talking in tongues. Uh, Kathy, along with her daughters and then her granddaughter Josie Kate were all shouting and dancing over here against the wall. How do you, how do you pay for that? How do you, only the Holy Ghost can do that. Only God. And especially as shy and held back as Heather is, boy, she was getting with it today though. And I loved that, Heather. I love that. And to see them shouting and talking in tongues, Josie Kate just lost in the Holy Ghost over there, man. The value of that when you're a parent that wants to see your children saved. Millions of dollars can't purchase stuff like that. And so I thank God for the move of the Holy Ghost. I'm going to get out of the way, but I'm so honored to have the Bro shoes with us. Their extended family, Justin's extended family, again, missionary to the land of France. Come right on, brother. And to understand that you would leave this nation and go to your homeland, I believe they're actually their ethnicity is French, to go back and to preach the gospel. It's quite, quite an amazing sacrifice. And I'm very grateful to have them with us today. God bless you. We honor you today. Let's clap our hands to the Lord all over the house for you. So Lord, what an honor to be in the presence of the Lord like we feel today. Isn't this wonderful? Wouldn't you rather be here this morning than in the hospital or in the state penitentiary? Praise the Lord. There's not one of us here today that deserve any of this, but I'm reminded of the great message of the grace of God, unmerited favor, joy unspeakable, full of glory. Praise the Lord. We kind of, I told your pastor, it appears in this church, we do things backward because after ministering the word, you would only hope for such a wonderful move of God. And the Lord showed up before it all happened. So I am only confident with this message that I want to bring to you this morning because the Lord awoke me and my wife awoke me in the middle of the night and said, Paul, what time are you supposed to take Justin's sister to the airport? Because it was an early morning flight. And she woke me up about an hour before the alarm. And because our bodies think it's seven hours later in the day because we're still on European time, we just arrived here on Thursday. It was impossible to go back to sleep. And as I was laying there, kind of in a daze, the Lord began to speak to me and reminded me of a message that I had forgotten all about that I want to share with you today. And I think it's going to speak to someone because it comes from the Lord. And the Lord knows every need in this house. And the Lord is very aware. He's aware of every one of us. And perhaps in this time of reaching out to the Lord in the earlier part of this service, maybe someone went back to their seat a little disappointed that maybe it didn't happen for you today as you had hoped and others around you were being blessed. You can feel the Lord. But you know, we all have a time. We all have times plural in our lives when the most mature in Christ just need to be reminded that the Lord still loves you and that you've got what it takes to make it. We, we all live there. We, we're all in this human frame together. So I'm so confident today of the grace of God and the love of God and the authority of His word and the presence of His Spirit that we feel in this place. It would be very appropriate for us to give Him a round of applause one more time. Can we do it together? Jesus. [Applause] Foreign. [Applause] I want to first give honor and thanks to the shepherd of this work, Brother Copeland, and your dear wife, who we met yesterday for the first time, both of you. Um, again, it's an honor to be here and all of the elders in this church, this great church, this great assembly. I know the population of this church is greater than the population of your mailing address, so that's a good sign. When people come from far and wide, that's a wonderful sign and it, it's a great testimony to this local work. I commend all of you for all that you're doing in the kingdom of the Lord. You know, usually when we are ministering in North America, it's on deputation. We did that for about six months last year. We are back in France. We've got responsibilities throughout Western Europe and in the Mediterranean areas of Europe, but we still play a senior pastor role in the church in central Paris and we're honored by that today. I was thinking of our assembly back home as well. They had 128 people in church this afternoon. One received the Holy Ghost. Praise the Lord. Kind of like here in, uh, Sebastopol. It's a very urban work. It's in central Paris. So, but God is good and God is moving all over the place in the city, in the country, in the U.S. and around the world. This is not part of my notes, but I do want to say this. I'm very aware of the fact that God is moving around the world. We've had great opportunity to travel as did our children as did our son. But I discovered something by revelation one day and it was this: Jesus Christ is not an American. He never pledged allegiance to the flag. He didn't even speak English. Hello. This is a universal gospel and it fits in every culture, in every race, in every tribe, in every moment of human history, in antiquity, in the most modern of times, in the face of the most challenging social circumstances that we are living in today. This gospel works. Would you stand with me today? I want to take a brief text from the gospel of Mark chapter 6. And while you were standing, our greatest joy, of course, was to be a part of our son's wedding last night. And it was beautiful. And brand new bride, sister Kaylee, who we're so proud to adopt into our family, as well as Justin is being adopted into Kaylee's family. Our son is, um, uh, he's beyond adolescence. He is a man. He has been living a man's life for years. And a part of that time, as I'm sure you know, you know his testimony, many of those years were away from God. About three years ago, God answered prayers of parents that never gave up on their children, but brought him back to Him with a mighty hand. And to see the Lord reward you, son, is so thrilling to me. I think about it, and I've been thinking about it last night and today in worship, how God truly is good. He is good. And so, you know, the word of the Lord is for all of us today, but I would like to dedicate this message particularly to my son and to my beautiful daughter-in-law, who have both known the grace and the mercy of God. What I share today is first for you, in the company of this great assembly. In the Book of Mark, the Gospel of Mark, chapter 6, I would like to read the first six verses. And I will, I'll share with my test, uh, rather, the title of this message with you in just a little bit. But let's take the passage in the Gospel of Mark chapter 6, verses 1 through 6. I'm reading from the New King James Version. Then He, Jesus, went out from there and came into His own country, and His disciples followed Him. When the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished, saying, "Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands?" "Is this not the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?" So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house." Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. Jesus, and He marveled because of their unbelief. And He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching. Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You for Your presence that work hand in hand. We open our hearts to You right now, and we reach out to You in faith because we are hungry and we are thirsty. All of us, all of us are here today for that reason. And we know, I know, that hunger and thirst attracts Your Spirit in a very mighty and powerful way. But Your Spirit manifest itself in the lives of each of us today and accomplish Your will because we truly do love You and we need You in this very desperate time. We give You honor. We give You glory. We thank You in advance for all that You're going to do, all that You've done already. You will honor worthy. In Jesus name, and everyone said, amen. God bless you all. You may be seated. In this passage that we read, verse 1 sets the stage. Jesus is in His own country. He's among the hometown crowd. This account of His visit to the local synagogue is in chapter 6 of the Gospel of Mark. So we know by this that Jesus was already well into His public ministry. How do I know? Because in the first five chapters of this gospel, He had already cleansed a leper by touching Him. He had healed a man sick of the palsy. This was the dude that was carried by his four friends and dropped down through the roof because they couldn't quite reach Jesus because of the crowd. Jesus had already healed a man of a withered hand. He had called the severe storm at sea. He delivered a demon-possessed man who lived in the tombs of Gadara. He healed a woman who had fought a 12-year-long blood disease, and He raised Jairus's daughter from the dead, all in the first five chapters of Mark's account of the ministry of Jesus Christ. This is no small stuff. This may be a semi-average Sunday in this wonderful church. I could have thought so very easily here just a few moments ago when we were worshiping the Lord and there were waves of the power and the Spirit of God that were sweeping through. You know, Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever. And we don't have to second, we don't have to settle today for second best. We are still living in apostolic times. Amen. And I'm grateful for that. But Jesus' reputation had already been well established. We just read this, and the people of Nazareth, whom with whom He grew up, they had heard of this stuff. This is the kind of stuff that makes the front page of local newspapers, at least it would have back then. People talk. If someone knows you and there's something that is divulged about your life or you're going somewhere in life or the Spirit of God is mightily using, people are generally aware whether they share their knowledge about what's going on with you or not, because revelation of revelations, people talk. People have always talked. And furthermore, in verse 2, they acknowledge the wisdom with which Jesus ministered. He spoke with authority. He spoke with anointing. So what was their problem? Well, the answer is found in verse 3. They could only see in the natural. Until He began His public ministry at the age of 30, Jesus had been the town carpenter, and they limited Him by those circumstances. Verse 5, He couldn't do any mighty work there. And I, it's hard for me to imagine that Jesus was ever challenged in His ministry, but we greet Him here in verse 5, Jesus could do no mighty work. That, think about that for a moment. Verse number 6, He marveled at their unbelief because of course that was the problem. The, the, the problem issue himself. What they saw in the natural caused them to throw up walls of doubt, and Jesus Christ Himself was not able to minister to their needs. And that should speak to all of us today, because when we let down the walls, the Spirit of God is free to minister. And there is no reason for anyone to go home today with a spiritual need, or for that matter, a physical, a mental, or an emotional need, because the whole package was purchased on Calvary. A man, it can be put under the blood today, and you can walk home today with a fresh, uh, uh, uh, a fresh step and and fresh desire and fresh faith in Jesus name. Leprosy and paralysis and disease of any kind are no challenge to Him. Death is no challenge to Him. In the case of Jairus's daughter, He can show up late and raise the dead. The weather, finances, corrupt world governments, they're no challenge for the Lord. Of course not. The devil is no challenge for Him. A legion of demons and the possessed man of Gadara, estimated according to the size of a, a legion in, in the Roman military of that day, a legion of demons in this man, estimated to number at least two thousand, begged at the feet of Jesus just to be allowed to enter into a herd of pigs. So don't think for a moment that Jesus is challenged by any devil or legions of devils. There is only one thing that poses a challenge to the Lord, and in those times, He is challenged, and that challenge to Him is unbelief or doubt, because it ties His hands, it shuts Him down, it neutralizes His ability to work in our lives, in your life, in my life. In Nazareth, Jesus Christ, the Great I Am, robed in flesh, could there do no mighty work. And I'm still in the word of God. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. For they who come to Him must first believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Because faith is the substance of things that are hoped for, and the evidence of things that are not seen. Without faith, we can't receive anything from God today. But if you, we could set our human reasoning aside in this place this morning and just focus on the word of God and what He can do instead of your circumstances and what it would be impossible to happen for you, put that aside and focus on His promises and claim them for yourself. And I'll tell you what, His hands will not be tied in your situation, but He will come to your rescue. Amen. He will come to encourage you. He will come to nurture you. He will come to direct you. He will come to heal you. He will come to fill you or refill you in Jesus name. Can someone say, praise the Lord? Matthew tells us that Jesus' father, Joseph, was also a carpenter. So we can kind of deduct the, the reason why that Jesus was in this profession because together these two men worked with wood. And I'm sure that in an assembly this size, we probably have many carpenters in the house this morning. Any carpenters here today? Any men who work with wood? Well, we've got a few. God bless you. Praise the Lord. Jesus was a carpenter. Must be a good trade. Amen. Joseph and Jesus were men who worked with wood, and they took it from the natural state. And as any carpenter would do in his profession, they would saw it, and they would plane it, and they would sand it, and they chiseled on it, they worked it. They were craftsmen. They were artisans. I've wondered before, I'm going to mess with you for a moment. Do you, do you suppose Pastor Copeland that Jesus had a specialty? Because I know that the field of carpentry is, it's, it's pretty broad. It's pretty broad. Do you suppose that Jesus had a specialty? Just something He particularly enjoyed building or or crafting? Was He a framer? Was He a finished carpenter? Was, was He a cabinet maker? You know, the word doesn't say. So I'm not going to suppose anything because the word doesn't say. But, but if I had to guess, I'd propose to this assembly this morning that there was nothing that Jesus enjoyed making any more than, well, the doors. We have beautiful doors in Europe. If you've ever traveled in Europe, I've often been amazed when you go by these old dwellings and every door seems unique. Some of them are in vibrant colors and they're just sculptured and even the framework around the door is truly a work of art that here in the States, we would put on a museum. Doors. If there was something that Jesus enjoyed making above everything else, I like to think it would be doors. You see, the men, Jesus learned the trade of carpentry from His foster father, Joseph. But His ability to make doors came from His real Father, Jehovah, the Lord God Almighty. Almighty. And here's the title of my message today: Jesus Makes Doors by Trade. It's just what He does. It is just what He does. It's what He enjoys doing. It's what He does the very best. Jesus makes doors by trade. And whether He did that in the natural or whether this is just figurative this morning, I do know one thing: He's still making doors in the lives of many people today. Someone ought to shout, praise the Lord. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Jesus. Do you ever feel like you're facing a situation in life where there is no way out? A problem with addiction or a compulsion of besetting sin? Perhaps it's anger over an injustice or a heart that's filled with hate or envy or jealousy or fill in the blank. A haunting past, a fear of rejection that cripples you, and a low self-esteem and an inability to get ahead because you just feel so down on yourself. That is not the will of God for your life. Maybe it's marital problems. You can see no way out. She'll never change. He'll never change. Wayward children. You can't possibly imagine how that it could ever come back to God. You know, when four walls are closing in on you and you can't see any way out, my friend, we've all been there. So don't, don't think you're a lone ranger this morning. We've all been in situations where we couldn't even imagine an answer, let alone pray for an answer. But when four walls are closing in on you and you can't see a way out, there is no hope in sight. Know that Jesus could create a door for your exact need. And I'm not just talking about any door. And I'm not talking about some prefabricated door that is constructed in some workhouse in, in, in, in, in heaven somewhere. I'm not talking about some mass-produced answer that He's going to throw down your way so that He can just kind of get rid of you and you can be done with your prayers. I'm talking about a custom-made door. I'm talking about something that is crafted by an artisan. I'm talking about someone, something rather, that is made by someone who knows his stuff and he knows it well and he does it well. Jesus makes doors by trade. You can take your dilemma and just like a carpenter does with wood, he'll begin to work it. He'll begin to work your dilemma. And he's at work if you don't even feel him. He's at work if you don't even see him working. He's working overtime behind the scenes. He's working your way. He's working away for you. He's making a way for you. We live in time. We categorize everything by time. Oh, I feel like such a failure. Yeah, but you know what? The Lord knows the end from the beginning. He sees the whole package. When he looks at you, you may be failing this moment. He doesn't see failure. He looks at you. He sees the whole package. He sees what he's doing in you. He sees what you're going to become. He sees His plans that He's made for you. And we can reach out by faith today and praise the Lord. Listen, we're in good hands. We're in the hands of someone. We're in the hands of a carpenter who makes doors by trade. Clap your hands to the Lord. [Applause] He'll take your situation and begin to plane it and chisel on it, sand it. You know, let me just inject this. I, I received the Holy Ghost when I was 18, just a couple days before I turned 19. Born and raised in the Northeast, staunch Roman Catholic, didn't know anything else. High school years, I was a backslidden Catholic, if there's such a thing. I was a very worldly boy in my high school years. But my sister-in-law was filled with the Holy Ghost. She didn't know anything about God. She and my brother were a few years older than me. They were idols in my life, very heavily involved in the hippie movement, uh, of the 70s. I'm a 70s kid, but I was a teenager. My brother was already in his mid, mid-20s, and he was just one of these cool guys, just very successful. When had married a professional model, and she was so empty, and she would talk about being so disappointed with life. And the kid brother, you know, me, I couldn't, I could not put my finger on her pulse because she was gorgeous, and guys would stand in line to dance with her. And her and my brother were very popular, you know, they just, they dressed in cool clothes. My brother drove a BMW, not that he was, uh, financially, uh, blessed in any way, but that was a toy that he wanted, and he purchased a car. And so I was just bedazzled because this is my brother. And the Lord so radically changed her life. The first time she ever went to any kind of service of any denomination, ever in her life, was filled with the Holy Ghost. And without a home Bible study, it didn't happen yet. It happened after, without pastoral counseling, nothing, just the impact of the infilling of the Spirit of God. I went to their house the next day, knowing nothing about what happened to her the night before. And folks, I looked at her and I said, "What has happened to you?" She didn't dress or look any different. I mean, no one sent her home with a list of do's and don'ts. She was virgin territory as far as spiritual knowledge, but I could see it in her spirit. She said, "You'll never believe what happened to me." And my friends and I would go to my brother's house several times a week with, you know, a bag of reefer, and my brother always had beer in the refrigerator. And, you know, when you're a teenager and you're in the world, you don't want to spend that much time at home with Mom and Dad. So I would go to my brother's house. And because of his beautiful wife, I always had a bunch of guy friends that wanted to go and visit my brother with me. Um, and so we would go and just hang out in the evening. And it wasn't, you know, it wasn't, there wasn't a rock concert, it was just hanging out, killing time. And that Monday night, she came in the living room with us, and she didn't want to smoke dope anymore. And her and my brother, who were heavy into cocaine at the time, she didn't want to snort coke anymore. She didn't want to go out dancing in the clubs anymore. She said, you know what? I, I just, that just doesn't feel right to me. I don't want to do that. And I'm watching this like my eyes were like deer eyes in headlights. I couldn't, I'd never seen anything like that before. You know, the state of Maine is not actually the Bible Belt, but you shook me anyway. What I want to say is this, when I look back in my life prior to ever coming to a knowledge of this, there was a lot of failure in my life. There was shame in my life. But there were moments there that were absolutely critical parts, not only of my conversion, but things from which I gained, gleaned rather, experience and knowledge and wisdom years down the road in my ministry. Who can take all of your excess baggage and failures and shame in your past life and somehow incorporate it into something called not only redemption, but use in the kingdom of God? And we want to, you know, we want to chuck things out. We want to hide things under a rug sometimes. We want to crawl under a rug because we're not all so proud of our past. But I'm telling you, we're dealing with a carpenter who knows how to use every element, a man that is put into his hands. He is a master craftsman. And just give whatever you've got to the Lord, and He will incorporate it into His scheme of things for your life. Redemption is beautiful. Living for Jesus is awesome. He makes a way for us. He's given us a ticket out of this place. And if your hope in Christ is in this life only, you should be of all men most miserable, because we're only passing through, and our days are limited. We're going home to be with Him. Can someone say, praise the Lord? Hallelujah. He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we can ask for or think, according to the power that works in us. Ephesians 3:20. And I believe that power is faith. You may be seated. I want to go quickly. I really want to deliver this. I need to stop. Devoting. Let's get one thing straight, however. You know, God doesn't give us explanations. He's never given me an explanation in times when I saw His face, even for direction. He might have given me answers, but they were always without explanations. He never gives explanations. You read it for yourself. He never gives explanations. However, He's good. He gives promises. No explanation. He'll give you a promise. He'll give you promises in His word. He'll give you promises when you pray. You know, if God gave us explanations beforehand, we wouldn't need faith. Faith would not be required. It would be like if He gave you blueprints to what He's going to work out in your life, what He's currently building in your future. And if you have a blueprint, you don't have to guess how the layout of your house, your future house, is going to be, because you see it in black and white. But if you put your faith in a carpenter or an art, an artisan, in this case, the Lord, He's gonna do your rights. But all you've got is a promise. But a promise requires faith, and faith is what moves Him. And we're talking about moving God, moving the force of God's Spirit in our lives in Jesus name. God gives us promises which require that we rely upon Him. Amen. To see the fulfillment. The explanation comes clear after the facts. After the fact. But faith must come first. And now you can look back on something that the Lord took you through, and then it's very clear all of the pieces that He put in place along the way, and you can see God's hand at work when at the time it was just a big mystery. Can someone, can you, can you relate to what I'm saying? Has this ever happened to you? Stand. You claim your promise this morning. God's given many people here promises on their knees or through the word or through a message that was preached across this pulpit or elsewhere, and you haven't seen that promise come through. I'm telling you, your door is in His shop, and He is working on it, and He is planing the word, and He's chiseling away, and that door is going to be delivered. And He delivers on time. Never early. He's never five minutes early, but He's never one second late. Praise Jesus. Praise Jesus. The children of Israel were sure facing a wall when they came out of Egypt. Pharaoh's army was behind them. The Red Sea was before them. But look what we read in Exodus 14, verses 13 and 14. "Fear not," Moses said, "stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, which He shall show you today. For the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you shall see them again no more forever." Forever. Who would have anticipated that the Lord shall fight for you? Moses said, "And you shall hold your peace." And they did, and God did, and the rest is history, and we can read it in His word. But who would have seen the waters parting before them? Even if they tried to imagine, they were shaking like leaves in a strong autumn wind. They felt like dead meat before Pharaoh's army ever arrived, and the sea parts. Well, who would have guessed that Jesus makes doors by trade? Always has, always will. That wall may be staring you down, but don't try to penetrate it, uh, alone. Don't do that. Don't try and get through your dilemma all by yourself. You might be brilliant, you're not quite that brilliant. You'll get hurt. You'll get hurt. And whatever that's, whatever that wall is that is keeping you from going forward, and you're just sure that you've got the answers, you try penetrating that yourself. Listen, pieces are going to go flying. Others around you are going to get hurt. You're going to have regrets. You may succeed at getting through your situation, but all that will be left is one big mess. And I've been in pastoral ministry for almost 40 years, and I can tell you, I've seen it time and time and time again. People that I want to take counsel, people that want to hear the word of the Lord, people that take the word of God and think they know better, so they put it on their shelf. They're going to do it their way. Their pastor doesn't know anything. You know, I've got a direct connection with the Lord, and the Lord can speak to me. All of that is fine and well. You make it through your situation, but I want to tell you what happens when Jesus is the one that gets you through that wall. When Jesus is the one that shows up with the door and takes you to the other side. When Jesus is in this, there will be a testimony. It'll be a wonderful testimony. There won't be any shame. There won't be any broken pieces. There will be no people hurt in the process, because Jesus makes doors by trade. It's what He does, and He does it well. Can we clap our
hands again to the Lord and give him praise and thanks. Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah.
I'm going to close with the example of Abraham. You know, at the age of 75, and this is an example, but at the age of 75, Abraham receives a promise from God that through his seed all of the families of the Earth would be blessed. What a wonderful promise. The problem was that he was childless, and he was already an old age, older age. He was, I'm 63, and I consider myself less young, but I know to many folks just a few decades younger than me, I'm considered old. That is up for debate, but brother Abraham was 75, and God is saying, "You're going to be the father of many nations," and he had no, no children whatsoever.
Contemplating how can I help God to make this work? And so there were plans, you know, for a servant to receive the inheritance, and surely this must be what God meant. Uh, yes, yes, this surely must be it. But at the age of 86, Ishmael is born. You know the story, you know the word. Abraham managed to crash through the wall of impossibility, had a son. Praise the Lord, praise the Lord for the answer to this wonderful promise. Thirteen years later, he's now 99 years old, and we could not possibly say he was simply less young. This dude was old. And God tells him that Ishmael is not the promised child. I've loved on this boy as the heir to the promises of God for 13 years. What do you mean he's not the child? Abraham laughs and insists upon Ishmael. You know, we want to kind of throw Sarah to the wolves, but Abraham left first.
Isaac was indeed born to Sarah, just like the Lord knew all along. But the results of that whole mess are still with us today, and it's the enmity. It's in the form of the enmity between the Jewish and the Arab peoples because a man who walked with God had a moment of unbelief and doubt and thought, "Surely this must be what God meant. I'll do it this way. Go around."
Don't be like the people in Jesus' hometown who could only consider what they saw with their eyes. Don't hang your faith on the coat hook of your circumstances. Hang your faith on the coat hook of God's word. And because of their unbelief, they received nothing from Jesus. Imagine Jesus physically showing up, and he comes into a crowd like this, and there's so much unbelief in the place. He leaves, and a couple of people get healed. Well, some of us can twist and shout even over that. But you know, when Jesus is in the house, you would expect every possible need to be met, and it can be. But the only thing that stymies him is unbelief.
And so, instead of focusing on the walls that you're facing this morning, and I invite you to stand with me here at this point, instead of focusing on the walls that you're facing, why not focus on the carpenter? That would be with a capital T and a capital C. The carpenter. The carpenter. One of Justin's military friends for many years, two of his friends, Joshua and Amanda, who drove 27 hours in their car to come and celebrate Justin and Kaylee's union yesterday, are here. And Joshua is a carpenter. I thought about you a few times contemplating this message. Joshua, thank you for being here. Incidentally, both you and your wife, your boys. But to this great assembly, I would say, I, I don't know anyone here. Brother Copeland, I met him yesterday. His wife, I met Olivia one time in Texas when she was there with Dylan.
Instead of focusing on the wall that you're facing today, whatever that wall is, it can be different things for different people. Why not focus on Jesus? Because he makes doors by trade. "I am the door," he said. "By me, if any man enters in, he shall be saved and he shall go in and out and find pasture." Pasture to me represents blessings, serenity, protection, nurturing. And in Revelation 3:20, he said, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock." So not only, not only is he the door, but then he twists the image and says, "I stand at the door and knock." And I would suppose that to be the door of your heart. "If any man hears my voice, hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and I will dine with him, and he, he will dine with me."
Apostolic people, we do that pretty well. We love fellowship time around the table. And I'm, I realize I'm here standing between you and that table. We do that pretty well. But Jesus is saying in this verse here that he desires fellowship with us. He wants to live where we live. You know, Mephibosheth was an invalid son of Jonathan. That when the house of Saul was destroyed, the Lord put David on the throne. David was moved to find any remaining relatives of the house of Saul so that he could honor them. David was an honorable man, and he wanted to honor his predecessor, even under the circumstances. And they found Mephibosheth. David's servants didn't think that the king would be interested at all in having him come to the palace because of his physical handicap. David said, "Absolutely, bring the boy in."
And when he brought this young man in, and put yourself in the young man's place, he didn't feel good about himself. Furthermore, his whole family had been massacred. He was alone. He was handicapped. Probably felt misunderstood. Probably felt very vulnerable. Probably feared being assassinated at any moment if anyone ever did a DNA check and found out who he really was. But suddenly, he's summoned to the king's palace, and he's going to have a personal audience with the king, David. And David is so moved with emotion to find this last remaining member of the house of Saul, his best friend's boy. He put royal clothes on him, gave a permanent place in the palace to him and to his family, and said, "I want you to dine with me every day. You will be at my table."
I have a word for someone today, and I don't know who you are, but when this young man with deformed feet slipped his legs under the tablecloth of the king's table, suddenly there was no difference between him and anyone else that sat around that table. Setting you're facing a wall today because Jesus makes doors by trade. I'm going to let you close this service because it's a little bit odd for me under the circumstances, but I do feel that surely the word of the Lord has spoken to someone today. And right where you're standing, I'm going to ask you, could we put our pulse finger rather on the pulse of the Holy Ghost right now? Could you close your eyes and just try and sense your way through the flow of the spirit of God that is moving in this place? Because God is wanting to give someone the courage today to dive into that current and just backstroke for a while and let the Lord reassure you that, listen, it's not over for you, man, sister. God knows exactly where you're at, and he's working on your situation right now, and you can trust him. You can trust him with those kids of yours. Daddy hasn't always done them right, but listen, you serve a God today who, in his earthly profession, could have been a door maker, but in his celestial abilities, most indeed, makes doors by trade. Would you close your eyes and talk to him with me for just a few moments? God bless you.
Okay, everybody here entertaining the Holy Ghost just a moment. Come on. This man has preached under the anointing of the Holy Ghost in this place, and there is a call to people all over this house right now. The Holy Ghost is reaching for you.
I'm going to ask you, if it's appropriate, to pray with someone around you. Come on, find someone around you. I know there are many who are already coming around these altars, and that's no problem, but don't leave everybody in the pews because somebody out there needs you praying for them right now. Come on, come on, come on. Preachers, preachers, obey the Holy Ghost. If you're a preacher in this house, I want you to follow the Holy Ghost right now. Come on, come on. God's reaching for people in this place. He's making a door for you right now. Come on. He's told you he's going to walk you out of your situation. Come on. That's it. The Holy Ghost is here. Do you feel him calling your heart? Come on. Do you feel him calling your heart right now?
Come on, God's reaching for you. I'm talking to somebody that you've looked around and you said, "There's no way out of what I'm facing. There is no way out." And a man of God has come to you and said, "A door is going to appear in your wall if you'll trust God. If you'll let God have it, God will build you a door and walk you out of your circumstances." Come on, come on, come on. Holy Ghost, Holy Ghost. Somebody go pay the Holy Ghost right now. Come on, somebody obey the spirit of God right now. Preachers, let the Holy Ghost use you. Come on, pray with somebody around you. Come on, pray with somebody around you right now. Come on, come on, come on, come on. I need, I need the Holy Ghost to move in this place. Come on, just a moment or two more, and I'm going to open these altars as the Holy Ghost moves in the house of God. Come on, that's it. Reach out, reach out, reach out. There's a door in your wall. You thought you were locked in. You, you thought you were imprisoned. You thought there was no way out, but a man of God came all the way from France today to tell you there's a door about to appear in that wall if you'll let God build, and if you'll trust God, he'll walk you out of your circumstances. Now, right now, these altars are open. Would you come? Come on, I'm waiting on you right now. These altars are open. Would you come? Come on, come on. Take somebody by the hand and say, "Let's go to that altar and let God work." Come on, take somebody by the hand and say, "Let's go to that altar. God's about to work in your circumstance. God is about to turn your situation around right now." That's it. Come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on. Somebody come on. Somebody don't stay in the pew. Don't stay in the pew. Let God work for you today. You know what this altar costs for everybody? This altar call is for everybody. Lord, before I took a breath, you breathed. Come on, that's it, that's it, that's it. These altars, these eyes open. People are gathering in. Come on, these altars, people are gathering in right now today.
