A really important skill to build is being able to discern in yourself between am I trying to create something just for the sake of creating it or am I creating something that I genuinely would find value in and I think other people would find value in. And that's that's why and this this is such an easy thing to hear and and logically understand but it's a very hard thing to emotionally execute on for a long period of time is I feel very strongly that the most important metric in all of writing and all of creating anything on the internet is that you are building a library of things that you find valuable.
It's I I think where so many people go wrong is they they all they stay in a constant state of trying to create things for the sake of creating it or they try to create things because they think that's what someone else wants and where you create the most value is when you are building a library of things that you're like this helped clarify my thinking you know this helped me get better at my craft this helped me improve my systems. This made me more efficient because if if you're successful in doing that for yourself, the internet is very good at going now let's go find 10,000 people that are just like you.
So that that would be my focus is like I would wake up every day and go what's the next thing that I selfishly want? What's the next thing that I selfishly want to learn? I want to crystallize my thinking. I want to build. I want to improve in in my craft. and your newsletter is just you're just like double monetizing it. You're just you you were already going to do it for yourself. Now you're just giving it to other people. That's I I genuinely think that's the best way to go about it. And it's also the most sustainable. It's the thing that you are most likely to be consistent with. like so so much of the game of creating tangible assets is and and there's you know there's different levels to learning the skill but I I noticed that where most people start level one is they're like okay I just need to create something and to some degree that's true it's like the first measure of success is you just do it right but ultimately the most valuable assets are not things that you build just to check a box and be like I put it into a prompt. Like that doesn't mean that the prompt is good. That doesn't mean that it's actually helpful, right? The most valuable assets are things that you build for yourself that solve a problem for you.
Because if if you can do it for yourself, the internet can help you find all the other people that are just like you. Like, and for everyone that's in our writing programs, every single asset that we build, I selfishly built for myself. I was like, I want to clarify my thinking here. I want to write this out and then I give it to you. You know, I I want to create a bunch of prompts internally for our team to make them more efficient and then I give it to you, right? So, everything that you're building, you you want it to actually solve a problem in your life or actually make you more effective or actually make you more efficient. And then like all of content and being a creator, being an entrepreneur or having digital products, like all of that is actually just the secondary. It's like I made something that was valuable for me and then I double monetize it or I made something valuable for me and then I give it away to other people to build my audience. But all of those things come second to you doing it doing it for yourself. And that's it's one of those things that's so uh simple, but it's actually very hard to do that in practice because the impulse is always how do I shortcut just get like how do I create the thing that everybody wants and then I magically unlock the result. And in doing that, what you end up what you end up accomplishing is just that you checked a box. You didn't actually end up solving a problem because you you started with the wrong goal. So that's that's what I can't emphasize enough like build build things that actually help you and then go give it to other people.
