The Assemblies of God waited 80 years to hold its first world Assemblies of God Congress, but those who attended the event in Seoul, South Korea, agreed it was worth the wait. [Music] The entire event was a live, full-color review of 80 years of missionary achievement. The Lord of the harvest led us in the formation of resilient, indigenous Assemblies of God fellowships around the world.
As their general superintendents carried in flags of their respective countries during the parade of Nations, we witnessed an electrifying moment in church history—a special movement of color and culture and patriotism and great spiritual significance. Nana made on the opening rally featured the preaching of Dr. David Young he Cho, chairman of the World Assemblies of God fellowship, and Reverend, founding chairman of the fellowship, gathering of God Bonham Carter Ito and is American academia. The Congress was highlighted by the grand prayer rally on Yoigo Plaza, when 1 million believers gathered to pray in the largest Pentecostal prayer meeting in history. To commemorate the eight decades of Assemblies of God ministry, eight skydivers parachuted onto the mile-long Plaza. [Applause] Those who have reported their intention and plan for fasting and praying reach now more than 16 million believing Christians around the world. One of the most moving moments of the grand prayer rally was the prayer of Reverend Edward Jose P.M. mayor; he is the brother of Reverend Ike Jose P. and mayor, the martyr general superintendent of the Assemblies of God in Iran before he was killed for preaching the gospel. Bishop Pike was scheduled to be one of the Congress.
In addition to prayer, the Congress featured the anointed Ministry of God’s Word by Assemblies of God leaders from the four corners of the globe. Every service at the 25,000 C joy doe Full Gospel Church and at Prayer Mountain was filled to capacity. Talented singers and musicians ministered in each service. [Music] The first World Assemblies of God Congress has been called as historic as the 1914 Hot Springs, Arkansas meeting when the Assemblies of God was founded. Hearts and Nations were bonded as never before; a new world view dawned in the heart of each participant.
The national superintendents returned to their lands with an increased understanding of their global responsibilities. Assemblies of God missions reached a new milestone and took on new vigor and promise for the greatest spiritual harvest in the history of the world. God only knows if there will be time enough left for another global gathering, but we know now just a little bit of what will look like marching into his presence.
