The Most Important Longevity Molecule I've Ever Found

Nobel Prize research just showed that a single molecule has way more control over how fast you age than you'd ever imagine. That one molecule can slow your aging and extend your healthy years better than just about anything else we found. But right now, your body is actively destroying this molecule. It's why your energy crashes in the afternoon, your brain can feel slower than it used to, and your workouts might take you days to recover from. Every one of those symptoms traces back to this one molecule that's running out.

But I've discovered how you can restore this molecule before it's too late. Right now, your body's engaged in a silent internal war between taking damage and repairing that damage. For most of your life, the repair side of that equation kept up just fine. You never had to think about it because your cells were operating at their peak efficiency. Everything simply worked without you having to do anything special to help it along. But at some point in your life, the accumulated damage started outpacing your body's ability to repair it. And when that happens, you force your biology into a state of survival mode. The body starts shutting down anything that's not specifically critical to keeping you alive right now. And that specific moment is when your aging process actually begins. It does not happen on your birthday. It happens the moment your cells can no longer keep up with the physical damage they take every single day.

And the reason your cells can't keep up comes down to one huge massive biological failure. Your body requires an enormous amount of raw energy to literally do everything you do. That energy is called ATP. And the mitochondria in your cells make it using a specific type of biological fuel. You can think of that fuel exactly like the electricity that runs through a big office building. When the power supply is strong, [music] the entire building runs exactly the way its designers meant. But when the power starts dropping, the building doesn't just get a little dimmer across the board. [music] The building's internal systems start intentionally shutting off non-essential rooms to save whatever electricity is left for the critical systems inside your body. The cosmetic stuff is always the first thing to lose power. That's exactly why your skin stops repairing itself quickly and your hair starts thinning out as you get older. Then the deeper, more structural systems begin to lose their power supply. Your muscles stop recovering the way they used to. Your workouts that used to leave you feeling energized now take you three days to bounce back from. Your sleep stops actually restoring your brain. You start waking up exhausted. No matter how many hours of sleep you spend in bed, [music] and eventually even the most critical systems in your body start failing. Your brain slows down. You start forgetting things. You can't process complex information the way you used to. Your immune system stops doing its job and you find yourself getting sick a lot. Your entire hormonal system completely falls apart. Your body is not breaking down just because time passed. Your body's breaking down because the central power supply is actively failing and it's elegantly shutting out systems one at a time starting with the least important until the most important one your heart and your brain also shut down. We call that dying.

Now, the reason that power supply is failing is actually very simple. If you understand the mechanism inside your cells, you have a specific molecule that's responsible for producing this fuel. Think of it like a master builder working on a construction site, but you also have an enzyme that actively breaks his fuel down and destroys it. Think of that enzyme like the demolition crew. So, when you're young, the builder is incredibly fast and the demolition crew is very small. >> [music] >> So your total fuel supply stays extremely high. But as you get older, the builder starts to slow down significantly and the demolition crew gets much, much bigger. So your fuel production drops and your fuel destruction speeds up. That gap gets wider and wider every single year when you're alive. By the time you reach middle age, you've probably lost 40 to 50% of the total fuel supply that you had in your 20s when you felt pretty good. That specific fuel is a molecule called NAD+. But it was only when I looked into the Nobel Prize research that it completely changed the way I think about energy in human cells and therefore human aging.

When scientists started looking closely at the NAD+ molecule, they found something that completely changed things we thought we knew about cognitive decline. They discovered that the physical levels of NAD+ in the brain are the single biggest factor separating people who develop severe cognitive issues from people who stay sharp into their old age. When I was in my 20s, I was mentored by people in their 80s in the longevity field who had better brains and more energy than I did. I have seen this in real life and [music] it can and does happen. Those are the people with enough NAD. And there's one specific study on this that is absolutely mind-blowing. Researchers looked at the brains of people who had full-blown Alzheimer's pathology. They had the physical plaques, they had the tangles, they had the actual visible [music] physical damage in their brain tissue. But between 20 and 50% of those exact same people had completely normal, fully functioning cognition. Their brains physically looked like they had Alzheimer's disease, but they were thinking, talking, and functioning just fine. And the key variable that explained the massive difference was their NAD+ levels. their bodies had enough of this specific molecule to keep their brains running and functioning despite the physical damage sitting there right in the tissue. Animals that completely lost the ability to learn or retain new information suddenly started doing both again. The chronic [music] deep-seated inflammation in brain tissue actively calmed down and the actual physical markers of the disease inside their brain started reversing. The researchers themselves stated that their own findings completely challenged the idea that this kind of cognitive decline is permanent or irreversible. and coming directly from the people running the study. That is a massive statement to make because most researchers always say, "We kind of think this is true, but more research is needed." That's not what these guys said. Because they were astounded.

Now, the [music] problem is that when you hear all this research, the very first thing you want to do is go online and buy an NAD+ supplement. And I completely understand that instinct. Queretin is naturally found in foods like capers and red onions because you put those in your smoothie, right? And epagenine is highly concentrated in chamomile tea. You did three shots of that this morning, right? None of us do. Both of those specific compounds have been shown to directly slow down the demolition crew inside your cells. So, if you eat the right foods or take the right supplements, you're actively feeding the builder and putting brakes on that destruction process at the exact same time.

So, now, even with all those raw materials in the right places, your builder still needs a biological signal to wake up and get to work. And the most powerful signal you can send your body comes from fasting. [music] When you stop eating for a specific period of time, your body activates an internal sensor called AMP K. You can think of AMP K exactly like an emergency alarm inside your cells that only goes off when your body senses the energy levels are getting low. [music] When that specific alarm fires, it screams at the builder, wake up, and it makes it start producing lots of NAD+. Again, practicing timerestricted eating where you fast for 14 or 16 hours a day is enough to set the alarm off consistently. And since you're already sleeping for eight of those hours, you're really just extending your fast by a few extra waking hours. [music] So you had dinner a little bit early, breakfast a little bit late, there you intermittent fasted on a timerestricted schedule, you biohacker you. But doing a full 24-hour fast once or twice a week is going to hit that cellular alarm much faster. And it produces a much stronger surge in NAD+. But if you're constantly eating from the moment you wake up till the moment you go to bed, your insulin levels stay elevated all [music] day long. And high insulin keeps that emergency alarm completely silent. So the builder never gets a signal to wake up and your NAD plus production stays completely flat all day long and you feel like crap. It turns out a lack of exercise will do the same thing to shut down that emergency signal that causes your body to make NAD. [music] If you're training consistently, your builder is going to stay active as a baseline because your body's getting a demand signal every single day. And the absolute fastest way to trigger that demand signal for more NAD is to do something called reh that works well if you're short on time. It stands for reduced exertion highintensity interval training. And I wrote about this in one of my major bestselling books. You do 2 minutes of very slow cycling followed by a 20 second allout I'm going to die sprint where you push as hard as you physically can. Then two more minutes of painfully slow cycling [music] while you do deep breaths and calm your system. And then one more I'm going to die sprint for 20 seconds. And then [music] you cool down with deep breaths. You're completely done in around 5 minutes. And doing a third interval actually makes it work not as well. So it's 5 minutes total. two short high-intensity intervals with deep relaxation after each of them. That 5minute protocol fires your NAD+ production signal and it kicks off the biological process that's going to tell your body to build brand new mitochondria inside your cells all at the same time.

Once you have your diet, your fasting, and your exercise working together, that's when supplementation starts to make a lot of sense. Cuz supplementation is the final step, not the first step. It's what pushes your NAD levels up directly on top of the strong foundation you just built. And there are two main precursors to NAD that you can take. Namin, which is short for nicotenomide monucleotide, and NR, which is short for nicotenomide riboside. Enamin converts NAD+ one step faster in the biological process. So you tend to feel it sooner. It's generally a better choice if you want more immediate and noticeable results. But the actual clinical research used between 600 and 900 mg of NMN a day. And at those doses, researchers saw real measurable increases in NAD levels in the blood along with noticeable improvements in daily energy and physical performance. If you're vegan, if you're over 60 years old, or if you're under a massive amount of chronic stress or you do anything else that makes you intentionally weak, you should aim for the higher end of that dosage range. Yes, vegans, I'm talking to you. I was once vegan, too, and I'm sorry if that triggered you. If so, you should probably get a therapist and take some NAD+ precursors. You'll feel better in the morning. In those specific situations, your baseline NAD+ is already much lower, and the demolition crew tends to run much hotter.
