Any area of my life for which I have no hope is under the influence of a lie. Hope in a secular context is a wish. I hope that happens. That's not biblical hope.
Biblical hope is the joyful anticipation of good. It's the kids on Christmas morning that are jumping up and down before they've opened a present. They know what's there and they're already excited. Hope actually gives you the right to experience the emotion of a breakthrough before the breakthrough comes.
