So, one of my mods linked me this and it was Tim Sweeney talking and criticizing Steam. Let me see if I can pull this up and find it. Uh, there's been like 50 of these and I don't know where the hell it is. Uh, [ __ ] Um, okay. Well, I guess I can just find Tim Sweeny's Twitter, right? And I could just do it through that. Uh, let me see if I can find it. Okay. Yeah, it it was from his his main account, right? Too many windows and tabs. I know.

Okay, so this is Tim Sweeney getting upset about I guess maybe Steam. So, is this the fair competition praised by recent articles? If a store with a dominant market share taking a 30% uh cut can bully developers into not passing on savings to customers to competing stores with lower fees, then competition doesn't stand a chance.

So, let's take a look at what the post is. Newly revealed court documents from an ongoing antitrust lawsuit claim Valve once threatened to remove Rainbow Six Siege from Steam after Ubisoft tried selling their game at a lower price on their own storefront play. According to the reports, Ubisoft said the cheaper starter pack uh version of Rainbow Six Siege outside of Steam. Valve additionally warned Ubisoft the game could be removed uh if the Steam pricing difference wasn't addressed. Ubisoft changed, of course, and the game remained on the platform.

Um, well, why is this? I mean, this is Is this the original post? Okay, let me see if I can find it. Bro's really mad about Lords of the Fallen 2. I don't think it's I don't really think it's that. Everyone's being too harsh here. There's been a significant rise in the cost of components or Steam uh that Steam customer spending ultimately funds and economic trends have created severe disruptions in the components parts supply chain for mega yachts. So he's trying to [ __ ] on Gabe. So he's getting mad and [ __ ] on Gabe. Okay. Well, this is really what's going on. So he's he's been mad about Gabe running Steam.

So here's my advice for Tim Sweeney. Make a better service. That's my That's my advice. That's the whole thing. That's my entire bit of advice. That's everything that I think you should do. Do a better job. Deliver a better service. and you're going to have more people use your service. The reason so, and this is the reason, so the reason why I don't like using the Epics games launcher is because it's not made with my best interest in mind. The way that the games uh population works, like populating the games on your screen is bad. The pop-ups are annoying. The updates for the launcher are annoying. The fact that I constantly get, you know, ways that I get funneled over to the store is annoying. So you have a service that is fundamentally an advertisement. So your service is an advertisement for your products which you are completely justified to do. You have every right to do that. But you can't expect the customer to make a consumer decision in your best interest. And you can't say that it's a monopoly or it's not fair competition when you're the one shooting yourself in the foot. Nobody made you do popups like this. Why would you make the corner screen popups by default? Who's asking for that? Nobody's asking for that. Nobody wants that. I guarantee you, you've probably received thousands of complaints of people saying that we don't like this. And if you took it away, I bet you probably wouldn't be getting thousands of people complaining that you took it away. So, why do you have a feature and a function inside of your inside of your service that nobody's interested in doing?

He's been a sassy [ __ ] for months. Is that right? Tim is coping. Yeah. Just make a better service, man. I don't know what's wrong with this, but for some reason, he's not able to do that. So, the more telling number is monthly active users, where Epic Game Store is 55 to 60% the size of Steam. We heavily invest back into engaging users through the free games program, putting our revenue back to work for developers in a way that those yachts and diamond teeth don't. Diamond teeth. Tim, that was AI. Where's the Where's the [ __ ] AI photo of this? I I'm sorry. I might not be able to find it. I'm so sorry, guys. And uh yeah, bro. Bro, Tim, bro, this was fake, man. Like you you got did you get baited by this? Really? You got baited? Oh, guys, this is just embarrassing. He got one shot by a meme. Yeah, Tim's a boomer. I know. He is such a boomer. Do not Oh, okay. There it is. Right there. Do nothing, win, do something, win even harder.

So, here's the reason why the Epic Game Store is bad. It's bad because it doesn't put the first interests of players the interests of players first. If you want to make Epic Games Store more competitive with Steam, then you need to change that. Also, I don't believe that they have 50 to 60% of the user base of Steam. I just don't believe that. I think he's lying, but you know, again, I could be wrong. I don't really know. So, Epic Game Store is also very optimized poorly. Yeah, exactly. And like I can go through like I mean I talked to a guy that worked at Epic and I complained to him directly about this and they got my contact information. So if they're ever serious about improving the product and actually competing and being able to cuz I do think it's important as much as I like Steam. I think that monopolies are always bad given a long enough timeline. Monopolies might not always be bad all of the time, but they're eventually bad inevitably. And so what I think is going to happen is that maybe steam isn't bad now, but what about in like 10 years from now? What about 15 years from now? Who knows what's going to happen then? Who knows what ideological perspective is going to change there? I have no idea. You know, maybe Gabe retires and somebody takes it over and they sell it to private equity in China and it's awful, right? I mean, who knows what's going to happen. So, at the end of the day, it's important to make sure that we have other platforms that are actually highquality good platforms. But Epic Games is just simply not a highquality good platform. It's not, and it hasn't been ever. And if they want to improve it, they could ask me, they could ask 50 other people. But the reality is that they know how to improve the program. They know how to improve the service, and they choose not to because those additions and those functions serve their interests greater than the consumer interests. And whenever you're putting the best interest of the company before the best interest of the consumer, you're not being customer first and you're not going to deliver a good product, which is I think exactly what they did and that's the exact reason why their company isn't doing well. That's really it.

So dude tweets more about Steam than his own platform. He got double community noted on this earlier today. Yeah. I mean like he can message me whenever he wants. Like can I DM him? No. Well, I DM'd him. He can DM me if if he want if he wants to fix it, then he can just message me. It's not a big deal. Currently, there's a misleading community note on this. Yes, you can buy keys Steam keys off Steam. Once you own a game, Steam forces developers to use Steam payments uh for all in-game purchases and pay 30%. This is the practice courts found illegal in the Apple and Google. This is such a terrible false equivalency and he's obviously advocating for his own product and I understand that but I think he's totally wrong. The difference between Apple and Google is they had a 99% market duopoly. Uh Steam does not have a market monopoly and there is no barrier to entry between making your own launcher and going direct to market. So for example, Path of Exile has its own launcher. Um, you know, like every big publisher has their own launcher. Whether it's Ubisoft, um, you know, like Battleet with Microsoft, uh, whether it's Xbox, uh, whether it's, um, [ __ ] like, let me think, uh, the Hoyoverse, like, uh, whether it's Weathering Waves, whether it's, um, like I don't know, like EA, uh, Star Citizen has its own, uh, did I say Path of Exile 2? Uh, there is definitely that. Riot has its own launcher. Yeah, many video games have their own launchers. That's why you're not going to win against Steam in the same way that you won against Apple and Google because I was totally on Tim's side with Apple and Google. And I think that he was doing the Lord's work against Apple and Google, but with Steam, I think he's just totally wrong about this. He's completely wrong about it. So, Rift with Glyph. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly right. And so, like, you can't buy DLC for Epic on other sites. I'm not sure about the details on that. I'm just not familiar with it. So again, like I think I I don't know why he's doing this. I I really I I don't understand this. If a store with a dominant market share, a dominant market share, a dominant mark, dude, you know, you can't call them a monopoly. You know, you can't say and again you so you don't even think they have a majority market share then because you know majority market share would sell better than dominant. So he's not saying majority probably because he can't. And so that means that they have less than 50% market share and you're crashing out about it over and over and over. I think Epic I I want and I want to say this, people might not want to hear this. It is better for every single gamer if the Epic Game Store is a better product. It is better for all of us. It's up to him to do that though. You have to acknowledge like I mean you have to listen to your customers. You have to listen to your users. You're not listening to your users and you're just doing whatever you want. He's making his own mistakes. So that's it. Bullying developers. He needs to look in the mirror. What a wanker. Well, I don't think he really bullies developers. I I don't think Tim Sweeney does that. Again, I I respect Tim Sweeney. I think he's totally wrong about his take on on Steam, but I respect him and I think he's a he's a great guy. That's it. I think he's just totally wrong about this. I I think it's just he's just jealous that that Gabe has a yacht and he doesn't. And I get it. I get it. Gabe's got a really nice boat and I don't think your boat is that big. It It's not. It's not that big. And that's too bad. Neither is your platform.
