Seizures can occur due to many different triggers, including high fevers in children, allergic reactions, heat stroke, and many other neurological causes.

Assess scene safety and ensure the athlete has an airway and pulse. Activate the emergency action plan. Keep the athlete safe. Roll the athlete into a side-lying position, in the recovery position, to reduce stress on the body and any vomitus. When rolling, support the athlete's head and neck using their own arms to keep the head still. Reassess vital signs. Do not restrict movement or place anything in the seizing athlete's mouth.

Be aware and sensitive to the possibility of loss of bowel or bladder control. Watch closely the movements of the arms and legs to position the athlete in the recovery position. Clear all objects away. Elevate the arm on the side the athlete will roll toward. Bend the opposite knee and place the athlete's opposite arm across the neck toward the ear. Using your hand, grab the athlete's hip and roll toward you, repositioning the up knee onto the ground and turning the trunk so the athlete's face is turned downward.
