So, I did it. I retold for 21 days in a row, and now I'm ready to share my results with you, friends. You know that many videos I record thanks to your comments, dear viewers. And here again, this interesting story began with a comment in which one of the subscribers, deliciously and vividly, described the effect of retelling. I will read a short excerpt from it, and then you will feel why I decided to try it on myself. I read verbatim: "Once my grandfather told me about a simple way to make the brain work powerfully. I tried it and was amazed by the result. It's simple: you take a fiction book or a novel, read a chapter, and retell it as detailed as possible, what you managed to remember. And you can't imagine how difficult it is to make your brain work, namely, to transform thoughts into meaningful sounds and words, and how your body will resist this, how difficult it will be to choose the right words, and how clumsily you will do it at first. And this kind of training should be done, I think, for about a month, but you will understand how much by your feelings." You can't imagine how much I talked. I just didn't shut up. I met a girl, talked all day, and it was fun. She laughed, and it was fun. The ability to joke, by the way, indicates powerful brain activity, which constantly sends a stream of thoughts. But with speech training through retelling, you transform thoughts into words incredibly quickly and clearly. During this training period, you need to give up alcohol, as you simply won't be able to do it otherwise." Then there is another weighty piece of text describing the emerging ability to win various verbal competitions with acquaintances and friends, to be witty and speak in all respects. So, this comment, friends, ignited me. The decision to set myself such a challenge for retelling was made, and I started doing it. But you know, almost all of you probably understand that retelling literary works is, in principle, useful for memory, for better assimilation of material, vocabulary, and everything related to speech skills. It's not for nothing that this is part of the school curriculum. But how many people remember when they last retold something? Write, do you remember when this happened to you last time? But I think that people do not practice retelling, not even because of laziness, which is inherent in us, and not because many tend to avoid hard work and intellectual work by all means. The point is that if we don't understand very clearly and very precisely what this can give, how specifically useful it will be for us, what we will get from it, and why it is worth spending our time on it, then we will not do it. For this reason, I recorded this video, in which I laid everything out for you point by point. Well, and I will show that all this is simpler than it seems and accessible to absolutely everyone. And even if you don't immediately start looking for a book to start retelling, the seed will still be sown, and sooner or later the moment of realization will come that books are a unique, if you like, portable magic, and retelling is a simple and probably the most effective magical tool for working with books and your speech. My name is Ivan Gladir, and I ask you to support this video with likes and your comments, as is tradition, and because it will help more people hear this information, which I consider so important. Let's begin. I'm starting the 21-day retelling marathon. This is the period I set for myself. I understood that it was important not to give up to reach victory, so from the very beginning, in addition to promising myself, I wrote about it and announced it on social media. I also told a certain number of people from my close circle about it, and you can also do something similar so as not to quietly give up at some point. We are all human, after all. Yes, and I completely gave up alcohol for this period of 3 weeks. Then I started to act on the principle of minimal steps, that is, it's better to do a minimal program and read at least a few paragraphs, then retell as best you can, than to do nothing at all. And to this endeavor, as to any educational process, it's better to approach from the position of "I'm playing this game," because the more it becomes some kind of burdensome routine task, the fewer chances of success and any good results. Therefore, in this case, you can also help yourself and turn on such an internal sports interest. Let's answer just a couple of questions, for example: "What good can happen if I do this?" and "What can not happen if I don't do this?" It's proven, simple, and it works. By the way, the book I chose, friends, is "The Power of Habit." It's not fiction, as it was in that comment, but that's how I wanted it, that's how I decided. This book is written in a very light, understandable style, with stories and a bit of humor. I sincerely recommend this book to everyone who has their own business or who simply wants to have one. The author draws a parallel between the process of growing giant pumpkins, there is such a competition among farmers in the USA, and building a business with the goal of creating, figuratively speaking, a giant pumpkin, a leader in its niche, from your business. In any case, it's not so important what you will retell, but I still recommend choosing what you yourself will be interested in reading. In novels and fiction books, there is more secondary information of a descriptive and artistic nature, so with this genre, it will probably be a little easier. But whatever book you choose, you will literally feel a rustling in your head, and you will definitely not be satisfied with how you are doing it. At first, I felt a literal resistance, you know, some kind of invisible barrier before I even opened my mouth to start saying something. You yourself start to understand at some point, "What nonsense am I talking? It wasn't written like that," or "What have I made up?" You fantasist. [Music] But colleagues, this is a normal situation. Remember that perfection is the enemy of good. We don't have the task of doing something perfectly in this case. We have the task of doing it every day, regularly, and that's the secret of any endeavor. I will say unequivocally: I immediately liked the process of strengthening my brain, and every day I liked it more and more. I praised myself every day, put a big plus in the list of completed tasks, and this, by the way, is another indirect but significant benefit. Well, as for the retelling technique, I decided not to set strict boundaries for myself and to simplify this process as much as possible for myself, and I acted like this: first, I read a certain semantic volume of text, one to two, at most three pages. Here, look at how it goes by feeling. You can even retell by paragraphs at first, gradually then trying to increase this volume of text. So, I read slowly, thoughtfully, and concentrated, highlighting important thoughts with a pencil, and then I retell as close as possible to the meaning and text. I emphasize that I do it as best as I can. It happened that after reading once, I objectively understood that I didn't get it at all or didn't remember enough, and what's the point of retelling something? Then I reread the text again, either to myself or aloud, as it goes, and only then I started speaking. And it happened that I retold it twice. And sometimes, first, I quickly scanned the text with my eyes, then I read it more carefully to myself, then again aloud, and only then I retold it. In any case, you will try, you will experiment, and there is no such thing as "this is exactly right, and this is wrong." Remember, "play this game," then everything will start to work out better and easier. Perhaps you have been watching with this internal question all this time: "Ivan, when will you tell us about your phenomenal results from this experiment?" Now I will honestly tell you. Friends, possibly because I have been working in the speech genre for many years, constant practice, regular performances, recordings, training, and so on, and so on, possibly for this reason, I did not feel an effect on the level of "heaven and earth," as it was described in the comment we know. And I believe, even I am sure, that this effect is a very individual measure that depends on our initial data, our experience, our mindset, temperament, temperament, and something else. But friends, I noticed and literally immediately felt it. You will feel it too, how the level of personal inner resource begins to increase. You want to tell others about what you learned from the book, and you do it better and easier. The thought process, speech, as a consequence, definitely becomes sharper and faster, and we literally become smarter, more interesting, more confident in ourselves. I believe these are weighty arguments in favor, agree? Write, did you feel a desire to at least try to read and retell, and was this video useful to you at all? If yes, then look in the video description for the benefits of learning poems, and they are obvious, and the benefits of reading books. Be sure to watch. Thank you for watching. See you next time.
