[Applause] Today we are up here on one of my favorite mountain roads just east of San Diego County. I have with me my C6 Z06 Corvette and I'm going to go over why I believe this is the last raw unfiltered generation of Corvette that you can buy. I don't believe from the research I've done and the people I've talked to that the C7 or the new C8 can match the raw experience that you get when you're driving this car, especially when you're on a mountain road or out here in the canyons. So, let's hop in and I'll show you why. Let's get out on the road here so you guys can experience what I'm talking about.
[Applause] [Applause] One of the main things that I enjoy so much about a manual transmission car and these older models that don't have a bunch of computer systems trying to keep you on the road is just the fact that you are in control of the car or at least have the feeling that I'm in full control over every input that I make. I want the car to react. I want the car to have an experience to it where it feels like I'm on a racetrack. Let's be honest. And I just think that a lot of that is lost in the modern-day enthusiast car market. They have so many computer systems throughout the traction control and lane assist and just all the monitoring that goes into them. I feel like they've lost a lot of their soul. And that is something that this C6 Z06 still embodies. You just feel so much of the road, so much of the feedback when you're driving this thing. You feel the slippage when it's slipping. There's different modes you can choose from that allow you to feel it more than others. So, it does have a good amount of tech still. I'm not saying that it's 100% without tech, but I think it has just the perfect balance of tech and rawness where it just gives you an unfiltered feeling when you're driving this car.
[Applause] [Applause] [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] The gauge cluster on this car is so simple. I think it's perfect. A lot of people online will make fun of it for being so old school and so minimal, but it has basically every readout that you need, and I think it looks very classic in its design. Everything you need, nothing you don't. I'm not into new performance cars that look like they have 10 different iPads connected on the dash or a big old 49in widecreen display on it. You just don't need that kind of real estate on the dash taken up by screens. You just want to see the readouts that you need and nothing else.
[Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] Having hydraulic steering in a Corvette makes it so that you feel the road so much better as well. I've heard that C7 and C8 owners complain about not having the steering feel that you had with this hydraulic system in the C6 Z06. It has so much feedback. You can feel the road. you feel so connected. I feel like that's lost on a lot of modern day sports cars. And that's a shame because that's what makes driving fun. That's what makes you get better as a driver and learn your car is actually having to put the right inputs into it so that the car reacts the way that matches your inputs. If the car is so easy to drive that you can just put it in a mode, launch control, it controls your launch, put it in a mode, it drives itself. That's just not interesting to me. Not at this point in my life. I still want to be able to feel something when I go out for a drive. I want it to be an experience. I want to have to work to keep my car on the road. What is the point if you're just pressing a button and the car is basically going up the mountain by itself?
