Recovery is basically telling OCD: nice try, betch

I've been called the Obi-Wan Kenobi of OCD and anxiety metaphors. So, here's one of my favorites. But first, I'm Jenna.

I've worked with some of the most severe OCD and anxiety cases in the world, like people who couldn't even eat or cook or go to work or be alone with their kids. And I've been through it myself. So, trust me, I know this beast inside and out.

I want you to think about your brain as though it was a social media algorithm. So, the more that you stop on a thought, the more that you click on it, roll it around, the more that you're basically telling your brain, hey, show me more of this. I really like this. This is important.

And every time you try to push or solve the thought or push it away, you're teaching your brain that it's important and that it's dangerous. So, no wonder it keeps coming back. This is why it's not about arguing with the thought. It's about starving it. It's about letting it be there.

Even those little ways that you give it attention, that's still engagement. That's the like, the share, the save. The less you feed it attention, the less it's going to show up in your feed.

So, if you're like, "Okay, Jenna, that sounds great, but how do I actually do that?" I made a free video that lays out five strategies step by step that I go over with my clients and with my students. So, DM me or comment the word strategies and I'll send you the link. Seriously, I wish it was something that I could have given my students and clients years ago.
