Allow your rational mind to quit, and the intuitive mind takes over fully. The intuitive mind is outside of rationality. It goes beyond what's known.
All innovation is preceded by contemplation. There's no such thing as innovation in any human without contemplation first. Bak says, "You station yourself. If you ask a question, you search for the answer, and you station yourself in a position to receive the answer." So, if you want to teach people how to be innovative, you teach them how to be contemplative first.
That's why we're not innovative anymore. When we're trying to find the answer to something, we're trying to bring the answer into our existing way of thinking, and the answer lies outside of it. And so, when you give up, whether you give up after a day or 20 years or whatever, you surrender. Then you allow your rational mind to quit, and the intuitive mind takes over fully. And the intuitive mind is outside of rationality. It goes beyond what's known, right?
And all innovation is preceded by contemplation. There's no such thing as innovation in any human without contemplation first. So, if you want to teach people how to be innovative, you teach them how to be contemplative first. That's why we're not innovative anymore. We're imitators. We just take what already exists and try and make it faster, and we can sell it for more. That's all we're doing. We're not transforming anything. Education's not getting better. Government's not getting better. Criminal justice is none of it's getting any better because we don't know how to innovate. We don't know how to create because we don't know how to contemplate.
And so, you know, there's I mean, there's so many case studies on this, but like there's engineers, you know, that are working on a problem, and they'll hold a pen in their hand, and they'll close their eyes and breathe until they don't want to be all the way asleep, but almost asleep, and they'll drop the pen. If they fall asleep, that wakes them back up. But they want to get in this zone between sleep and awake so that they can forget the rules of engineering. And here they think of something beyond the rules, something above the law and the prophets. And that, and then that place, Habach says, "You station yourself. You ask a question, you search for the answer, and you station yourself in a position to receive the answer, to receive the insight." Laski calls it the lightning strike, like the ground force in a lightning strike. The ground force is moving around trying to attract the strike from above. And the ground attraction will go up to the highest point that it can, reaching for that lightning strike from above, and the lightning strike hits it and deposits millions of tons of minerals down into the earth. That's the Eureka process. Everything in my identity is reaching up as far as it can to get that inspiration. What is that idea? Where is it? And then, Eureka, Eureka, there it is. I found it. And the strike happens, and the creation occurs, and Newtonian physics is born, and general and special relativity is discovered, and Mozart writes a symphony, and it's all the same process.
That's what prayer is. That's a quiet time. And you come out going, "I have another way to talk to my kid. I have another, there's a third way to do this thing. There's another way to love my partner. I never thought of that before." The lightning strike, Eureka. This is the scriptures. This is inspiration. And so we're asking that question. And one day I'm driving down the road, and I'm way, I'm everything in me and our team is reaching up. "God, give us the strike, inspiration. God, breathe, inspirate downward. God breathed, and it is profitable for correction, instruction, reproof, and righteousness." And it's like, wow. And then one day I'm listening, and you're just ready to receive, ready to receive. That feminine virtue is fully open to receive and give birth to a new idea, a new way to do business, a new way to run a class. All of it, all of it's available all the time. We stopped asking. We just ask someone to tell us what to do.
And, um, and I'm listening to this podcast from an economist, and he says he talks about in economics, in economic theory, there's the wound of separation. He called it in economic theory, and I was like, bam, there. That's it. There it is. There's the strike. That's what it is. That's what we're missing. There's some kind of separation that's going on. Even though I know my true identity, there's some kind of separation that's that's actually squelching and choking the true identity. And so then it's like, okay, what is that separation? It's separation. So jump into the scriptures, right? Jump into the, what is separation in the scriptures? "The soul that separates, it shall die." That's what it says. We say sin. The soul that sinneth, the soul that breaks from its original design, that separates from its original design and from the designer, it will die. Keyword: separates. And I was like, "Oh my gosh, what?"
And then let's jump. Let's start in Genesis and let's go. And right in the beginning, right in the beginning, remember Genesis is Moses talking to the Israelites. Don't forget that. It's not the Bible written. It's Moses talking to a specific group of people in a specific situation. And he's making really timeless, universal points, but specifically to them. And so he's talking to Israelites, right? And where are the Israelites when he's talking to them? If you know the story, where are they? >> They're in the middle of the wilderness. So the system that they've been raised in, the worldview that they've been raised in, they've actually been weaned out of for weeks, and they're learning like another way to look at everything about reality. That's what's happening. If you can imagine taking two or three million people and saying, "We're going to introduce to you not a new way of thinking about the world, the true way of thinking about the world, because everything you've been taught about how to view the world is not only wrong, it's actually completely false in the reality that we live in. It's actually counter to the reality that you live in every day. That's why you're going to die in this reality. Because what you believe is counter." It's like it's like you're rubbing your hand down a piece of wood along with the grain, and it's like, "That's really beautiful." And then you turn and go this way, and splinters hit you. That's what you're doing. You're like, "Oh, we're getting all this spiritual opposition." You're going the wrong way. Stop blaming Satan. Satan's like, "I don't have to do it. You're doing it. You're going the..." And it says, "The wrath of God is revealed against all mankind." Oh, God's mad at us? No, his wrath is in place all the time, 24/7. It's there. It's not because he gets mad one day. He built the system so that if you turn and go the wrong way, immediately, it's not fun. Why? So you'll go the right way. It's not because he's mad. His wrath is his greatest expression of his love for you to go the other way. So that you can't go this way and love it. >> And the harder you go this way, the worse it gets.
And you know, we were in Iraq, you know, when they, we were working there when they found Saddam and Osama bin Laden. All these people, all these dictators that are like, you know, living, and when you find them, they're like not human anymore. It's not like, "Oh, they're living the life." They're not. That's the lie. It's not the life. This is the life. And you go this way with all the money you want and all the power you want, and you will die in that place like a creature. Like a creature. This is what this is what Tolkein's writing about in Lord of the Rings, that the hobbit that becomes consumed with just self-protection and self-promotion is no longer a hobbit. It's turned into a creature. And a lot of the rabbis think that in Genesis, that who Eve is talking to is not Satan necessarily, but a human that's become a creature who's so lost their way that they're creature-like, which means they just go and take anything they want whenever they want, and it destroys them and everything around it. This is our world. We're not human anymore. We're creatures. We just live on impulse and not other focus. Self-emptying, unconditional love for your enemy. That's a human. And Jesus is showing us what it means to be human again because we've lost it, right?
And so, so in Genesis, Moses is saying to is teaching the Israelites, "We are leaving this, and we're going to go establish this. But if you don't know the new idea of what this is, you will end up doing this again, which is what we do. It's called compulsive repetition because we just get out of this and go back to this, and get out of this and go back to this. And we don't like these leaders because they punish all their enemies, and so let's put these leaders in. And what do they do? They punish. It's just the same system over and over again because it's all in the same worldview. The worldview has never changed. It's just different people in charge, right?"
And so Moses, and this is what this is like, if you want to debate the veracity of scripture, all you have to do is read the book of Deuteronomy. Present the book of Deuteronomy as a governance system. It's brilliant. And it's why Jesus quotes Deuteronomy more than any book. It's, and you know how we love Deuteronomy to read it. But Deuteronomy is Moses explaining to Israel what the governance of this new nation is going to be like in order to prevent it from ever becoming an empire. Because once it gets that empire taste in its mouth, it's going to go creature-like. And all empires fail. Every empire in the history of the world has failed. None of them succeed. None.
And so Moses is saying to these people from God, "We are going to create a nation that is not interested in ruling the world or dominating the world. That's what empires do. You don't need God to figure that out. What you do need God for is how to have a nation that becomes a blessing to the whole world, not by ruling it, but by simply influencing it from a position actually of small." And in order to do that, we cannot be an empire. And so, in order to not be an empire, we have to get rid of the worldview that keeps producing empire. And so he starts by saying this. So, in order to help you, I'm going to tell you this. I'm going to tell you this. I'm going to narrate this to you in the beginning. And that's how he starts. And it's like incredible what he says.
And when the, when you read the book of Deuteronomy and the, and the story of the governance of what Israel was supposed to be, there is no comparison anywhere in the world at that time of that form of government. Nowhere. He couldn't have borrowed from any existing anything ever. That had that idea of Deuteronomy and the governance and the Levitical system has never been seen before in history before Moses lays it out like that. You want to say the Bible's inspired? That's how you know because nobody had that idea. Moses is saying, "Look, when we have our country, we're never going to let anyone be in debt." Nobody thought of that one before. We definitely gave it up. The Christian country. No, we are not going to have a professional standing army ever. Do you know why they were not allowed to have a professional standing army? Do you know why? Because you can't have an empire without a professional army where the king can go, "We're going to war there. We're going to war there. We don't care what the people think. We're going there." That's empire building. And if they don't have the capacity to direct a military at their whim, you can't build an empire.
So what Israel could do is if they needed to defend themselves, the rule was whoever was in charge had to go to every single tribe and explain to every single tribe why what we're going to do is worth the death of your children. And all of the tribes had to agree, "This is worth it, and let's go do it." And as soon as it's over, you go back to farming immediately. That's a country. >> So they can't take over the planet, but they can influence everything. What do we want? Because once empires go to war, the war never stops. It can't end because of the worldview of the whole place.
So the, so the Israelites have only ever known for centuries the worldview of Egypt. And it's not a non-Christian worldview. It's a false worldview. Right? And so it's so when Moses is explaining it, he's going to explain that in the history of humanity, still true today, there's only ever been two worldviews. There's not nine. There's two. And if you go back and read the Greeks and the Romans, the Babylonians, they all talk about one of two worldviews, right? There's only two. And they call it different things. Augustine says it's the city of God and the city of man. They have these two distinctions, the good, the evil, like that. And so in the scriptures, the way we've coined it, it can be coined other ways, is the separation worldview is one worldview, and the connection worldview is the other worldview. You are in one or the other. You can't. You're either in one or the other. And in the course of a day, I go back and forth because it is hard to stay in the connection worldview in a world that is totally sold out to the separation worldview. Everybody, Christians, non-Christians, the one thing that we will unite on as a planet is the separation worldview. We will unite on that. And it's sad because the one thing we'll unite on is the thing that's completely antichrist. I, I can't say this funny. Even believers will do it. We, we will, we, we've learned to, yeah, this is it. This is true. Yeah, we wish the other one was true, but this is reality. Wow. I get so tired of hearing even myself saying to God, "Yeah, but God, in reality." God tells me, it gives me a vision. That's beautiful. But in reality, like what God's talking about is not real. So what we're saying is the lie that we have come to believe is reality. And people say, "How do you know? How do we know we're not deceived?" You know, like there's going to be some day when suddenly all of us are going to be deceived. We've been deceived the whole time. The whole time. That's like the fish in the water. It's like, "Wow, I'm having a quiet time every day, and I'm still dying. I don't get it." Because you're breathing poison every single day. It's in everything that you listen to. When you go to church, it's preached. It's all the same separation worldview.
So, so Moses is going to demonstrate this to the Israelites because you don't know the air you're breathing. You, you're not paying attention to it. We're fighting all over all this ridiculous minor stuff while we're all dying together in a lie. So, so think in a, if you're in a company, and your, your company is operating in the separation worldview, even though you pray and have devotions every morning, then you go right out and operate fully in the separation worldview, and then you say, "We're going to have a culture of vulnerability and trust in our company." No, you're not, because you can't build a culture of truth inside of a lie. That's why it never works. Man, in the police department, I don't know how many sessions I went to on tolerance, on blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, and all the cops are sitting there going, "I even hate the instructor. I don't even like them." Like, why don't we just, why don't we hold hands in a subculture of truth inside of absolute hostility because it doesn't work. All you have to do, you don't have to build a subculture. All you have to do is go, "Class, we're moving here and here into a connection worldview." Boom. Culture of trust. Why are we trying to learn to live inside the lie and manage inside the lie? Just move to the truth. Just move to the truth. When? Right now. Now. How long does it take you to move from what's false to what's true? It may take you to make a decision. Now, to walk in it continuously, that takes discipline, discipleship for sure.
So this is what Moses is explaining. And so he, so Genesis 1 and 2, connection worldview. Genesis 3, separation worldview, and all the effects of the separation worldview, and all the promises of the connection worldview. It's the whole thing, the whole thing. And so the separation worldview, we'll start there because the separation worldview is the one that we hook, line, and sinker go by every day, all of us. I, I'm the same, trust me. It's a constant struggle. So the separation worldview, Genesis 3, believes that separation is good. Like it's a good thing. That's what it holds to. Um, that separation is good. The strange thing in scripture though, is when you're reading, let me, this is, I don't want to like, I'm not trying to embarrass you, but it's just a question. Does anyone know when the word "sin" is first, like roughly where in the Bible the word "sin" first appears? The word sin, S-I-N, sin. Does anyone know roughly where that appears? Just roughly. >> Where? >> The child's disabled. >> Okay, that's further. Yeah, that's a good one. Yeah. Okay, let me, I'll let me tell you this. It's never used in the story of the garden. Never. That word is not in the story of the garden. It's not there. Read it. We put it there. Do you know why? Because we're putting a separation, we're reading a separation worldview into the Bible. That's what we're doing. We're making it a separation worldview. The time, the first time sin is used in scripture, the story of Cain and Abel. And when, when God talks to Cain about sin, where is the sin? Do you remember? It's not here. It's over there. "Sin is crouching at your door. You must master over it." Not like, "Boy, I'm sorry about the sin nature you were born into. We, that's us. That's not him. It's over there. You must master it." That's what he says to Cain. So, the whole Adam and Eve story is not about sin. It's about separation. She didn't fall. She separated. And where does she separate first? Right here. This is where she separates first. Right here. And then here. And then with everybody else, that's what happens. Separation, right? So that's what that's what Moses is talking about in Genesis. You know that story.
So, and the whole separation worldview is built on four beliefs. And the number one belief that it's built on is the absolute belief in scarcity. The absolute, we are sold out on scarcity. It's so, it's so hard for us not to believe in scarcity. Okay. So, but here's the cha, here's the challenge with, so scarcity is the belief. It's two words: "not enough." That's scarcity. Not enough. Okay. So, if I, let's, let's do this for a second. So, um, if I say to you, in our world, what is there not enough of? Like, in your day, what's there not enough of? >> Time. We all agree. All of us agree. The most sold-out-for-Jesus people believe there's not enough time. I'm sold out for Jesus, but there's not enough time to really be sold out. There's not enough time. There's not enough time. We write books on there's not enough time. We say things like, "Man, time's the only thing you can't get back." And we're all the Christians like, "Yeah, I know. Wow. You're just like the lost people." Yeah. Like again, if you want to unite a room, say, "Do we all agree that scarcity is a reality?" And none of us have enough time. Everyone will agree. Atheists, evangelicals, we'll all agree. We'll fight about other stuff, but we all agree there's not enough time. We all agree. Is there not enough time? What? So time is what? What is time? Well, who created time? Okay, God, whatever you did with the time thing, it's our enemy. You made an enemy for us, time. Why did you put us in time and then not give us enough of it? That's what we believe. He's like, "Ready?" All right, go. Well, you missed that one. Okay, keep going. You can't get it back. Can't get this one back. I'm God, but one thing I can't give back to you is time. Remember, because I am a victim of time. God is a victim of time, isn't he? Oh, you say no in here. Oh, I should have witnessed to that guy. Oh, I'll never get that back. And God's like, "Well, that guy's going to hell." Wow. I was really hoping you would do something. Oh, well. And if he dies, if he dies before he says the prayer, he's out of time. Like he, I'm the judge. He's going to stand in front of me. He's going to go like, "What about now?" And I'm like, "Dude, you are out of time." Because even I, God, can't reverse time. That is so false. It's embarrassing to say that about God. God is somehow underneath time. This is what we believe. Like, God, I wish he could work, but he's already dead. Too late for God. Remember when God said, "Wow, once you die, suffer." Remember when Jesus died, too late. Oh, wait. He's back. Well, I guess we're still going. Do you see what I mean? It's like there's places where we've made God powerless. Which means time is God. I'm too old. Too old. I should have done that when I was 20. And now I'm 60 and okay, God, sorry. Like, what do you, I can restore the years the locust have eaten away, you know, we say up to. I, I prayed with a guy. I mean, he had had a horrible life, you know, not like he was lost, but like he had made decisions as a believer that were just like, wow. And I just wanted him to get with the Lord and just, "Can you just, just ask the Lord this question? How many times in my life have I done things that you never invited me into?" How many times have I done things for you, God, that you never invited me into? That's a great prayer to pray every day. >> Lord, what are things I'm doing for you today that you never asked me to do? That's a huge. And I just wanted him, "Just please ask the Lord for your freedom. Ask him, 'What are the things I've done in my life for you that you never invited me into?'" And he wouldn't ask the question because he knew he had done a lot of, not bad things, good ministry things, ministry things. "Lord, I gave you five years of my life on the mission field." And the Lord's like, "I never asked you to go. You never asked me if I wanted you to go. They told you to go. You never asked me. And it was hard. I know it was hard, but I, it's not because I took you there and hurt you. I never asked you to go. Didn't you ask all people? No. You went because you thought it would make me like you see this kind of..." So ask him, "What are things I've done for you that you never invited me?" Just wanted the guy to ask him. And he finally did. And the Lord said, "All of it." And he wept and he cried, and he's like, "I am undone." And I said, "No, no. Now ask him to forgive you of that and cancel the negative effect of that. All of that. Now, how many years did you spend doing that? 35 years. Ask him for the 35 years back. Do it again. He loves this. This is his favorite thing. Ask him for the years back. You wouldn't believe what God does to give you time back because he's not a victim of time. He's the author of it. >> It's never not enough time.
One other thing about time. Time doesn't move. Time. We say, "Well, time's passing. Time cannot move." Right? This is, okay. Here's Israel. Here's Israel. We're going to the promised land. There it is. It's an 11-day walk, I think. Right? 11 days or something like that if they went straight. God's like, "In your life, there's Kronos time and Kairos time. Kronos is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Uh, Kairos moments are these moments in time where God intersects in Kronos time. And it's mind-blowing in your life. Who you marry, a certain quiet time. They're just Kairos moments. It's God's time crashing into Kronos time." And so we're walking along Kronos time. All time is measuring is your movement forward. That's all it's, it's not passing you. It can't pass you. So there's a Kairos moment in my life. God's like, "Let's go. Let's walk together because boy, there's some stuff ahead of you you're going to walk right into and you're going to love it." And so I start walking with him. And then it's right there. How long? How long is it going to take me, Jamie, to walk to that table? How long? >> It could take two seconds, or I could never get there. Right? Because I think I'm gonna like, "Oh, I think I'm gonna take a drink of what? Vodka. I'm gonna take a little vodka drink, and I'm gonna drink a lot of it." And that thing gets further and further away, but it doesn't move. But I stop moving. Or I start walking in a circle, or worse, I go that way, but that ne Do you get that? That never moved. And God's like, "Still there. I, I could get to that table. I'm 66 while I'm 66. Or I could get there when I'm 80, but it'll still be sitting right there. It's never lost. God's like, "Let's go. Let's go."
Before I went into recovery, um, I, I was quite an substance abuser. And the Lord Jesus was with me the entire time, and I knew it. And I could still do my job really well because I didn't need the Holy Spirit to do my job really well. What I couldn't do was bring transformation to the people I worked with. That's what I couldn't do. And the Lord would, he'd be like, right, right next to me, and I'd be, you know, high or whatever. And he would say to me all, for years, Donna can tell you. He would go, "Let me know when you want to like go forward. I'm not going to drag you intoxicated up there, but when you want to get sober and do this, I'm right here with you. I'll be, I'll let me know." And I would look at him and go, "I don't want to go." And he didn't go, "If you deny me, if you reject me, I'll never..." He's like, "Let me know." And he sat by me for years. Picked me up in terrible places, gave me a wife that he stayed with her to stay with me. And one day, after years, he, he said to me, "Let's, let's be done with this now. Let's be done with this now. Do you want to be done with this?" I was like, "Yeah, I'm just, I am ready to be done." Okay. Boom. Lost. He called. He said, he said, "I want to push you off a cliff." That's what he said to me. He said, "I need to push you off a cliff so that you won't be afraid of falling." That's what he said. You're intoxicated because you're afraid to fail. Because you're afraid to fall. Let's fail together so we can get rid of that fear, and then we'll come back and do this again. I want to push you off a cliff. Give me permission to push you off a cliff." And Donna was standing next to me. This woman was praying for me. And I looked at Don and I said, "I, I feel like God's asking me to give him permission to push me off a cliff. If I give him permission to push me off a cliff, will you stay with me when I fall?" And Donna said, "I've been praying that he would push you off a cliff for so many years." I'm like, "Great." So that's why, ah, and I said, "Do it." And he did it. He did it. And we fell. I fell hard and far. And you know what I found out? He was at the bottom waiting, and he caught me. And it was hard. It was hell for both of us. And man, and he said this. And when I, we got, I got sober, he said, "Okay, ready? Let's do it again." And we went to do it again, and we did it at a far greater, higher level than we ever dreamed. Connection.
Connected separation worldview believes in scarcity of time. That's not true. Time is not, there's enough time. What's the other thing? Time and money. Oh my gosh, there's never enough money, right? Money, money, money, money. There's never enough money. Um, and so Jesus is constantly talking about that. You know, with the disciples, it's like, "Jesus, we don't, we don't have enough money." Like, we don't have enough money. And they're doing interactive prayer, contemplative prayer because Jesus is right there talking, like, "We don't have enough money. Like, we don't have enough." And Jesus says, "Are you worried about money?" Yeah, we left our amazing fishing careers for you where we were in it, man. We had it. We had our own company. We were entrepreneurs. We were making it big, and that exciting life of fishing and washing our nets. It was, it was so beautiful. And then you called us out of it, and we left. And now we are broke. Can you help us with the money?" And Jesus says, "Oh, yeah. You want money? Okay. Do you see those birds over there?" This is how he answers our prayers. "See those birds over there?" And they're like, "What now?" The birds. The birds. The birds. You see, are you asking me about money? Yeah. Okay. See those birds over there? Yes. Yeah, we do. Those birds are unemployed. That's his answer. They're like, "Okay, never thought of that." He goes, "Obviously you haven't. Because they're good. They're fine. And you're more valuable than them. So, does that answer your question?" And they're like, "Not even close. Not even close."
So, so just a little key, when you're doing listening prayer and you're asking God a specific question, and you think of birds, don't shut him down. Don't. He's te, the Gospels are telling you how Jesus talks, and he doesn't give you a plan to make money when you ask him that question. He talks about there's enough, and I'll take care of you. Now, let's go do what you do and seek first. So, that's what. And then they're like, "Well, what about clothes?" Okay, forget the money thing. What about clothes? You know, we're fishermen. We're in an urban ministry now. We look like bums. What about our, we got to dress the right way, you know, dress for success and all that. And he's like, "Oh, clothes. See those flowers right there?" And they're like, "Oh my god." He's like, "See those flowers right there?" Yes. Yeah, we see the flowers. Solomon, you know Solomon? Yeah, we heard, we heard him. I knew him. He never dressed that well. He never looked that good. And these are going to fade away. So, there you go. And they're like, "Wow, okay. This listening question thing doesn't work. I, I keep asking God about clothes, and he keeps pointing to flowers. It doesn't work." And then they, he says, "Look, let me make it simple. Seek first the kingdom, and it'll all work. Just seek first the kingdom. It'll all work." And they say, "Okay, good. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Let's narrow in on that. What is the kingdom?" And he goes, "See that field over there?" And they're like, "Oh my god." Like we're just, it's like that field. Oh man. Because, because this is like learning. Jesus is like, "I'm not going to talk to you in little literal petty terms. I'm talking about the whole big beautiful thing, and stop focusing on the unimportant. Focus on the whole connected thing, and stop separating down into scarcity."
