Dear students, welcome again to Translation 1.
Translation, of course, is the process of transferring meaning from one language to another while preserving the original meaning of the text. Of course, dear students, pay attention to this definition, it is very important. Translation is the process of transferring texts from the source language to the target language. The source language is the language from which we translate, and the target language is the language into which we translate, in a way that allows us to convey ideas with complete honesty and accuracy. Of course, dear students, since the subject is translation, it is the lecturer's duty to translate sentences normally. We will use the Arabic language alongside the English language because translation concerns both Arabic and English and requires creativity in choosing words and a deep understanding of the different rules and cultures of both languages, the source language and the target language.
This is just an introduction. Inshallah, in the upcoming lectures, I will give you the rules and principles of translation, and you will benefit greatly, Inshallah, for all students. Translation serves as a means of communication between cultures. It is a process of communication between two languages, between different cultures. The goal is to exchange ideas and information between languages.
Professional definition. Of course, we have this professional definition. It is a professional activity that requires linguistic expertise and cultural competence. Linguistic and cultural expertise, as well as clarity in conveying meaning without distortion or loss.
Of course, dear students, what is the importance of translation? Of course, dear students, translation facilitates communication between different people with different languages and different cultures.

Let's talk about the different fields of translation. Literary translation, technical translation, legal translation, commercial translation, media translation, religious translation, and software translation.
Literary translation, of course, dear students. Literary translation is difficult, but with training, because it requires a translator proficient in both the source and target languages. It concerns the translation of novels, short stories, poetry, and plays. The focus is on style and aesthetic imagery.
For example, when we need to translate... I will give you a general overview of the fields of translation. Inshallah, in the upcoming lectures, I will give you examples and precise details about these translations.
Scientific translation. This type of translation deals with fields such as biology, chemistry, physics, and medicine. This type of translation, dear students, requires accuracy and understanding of scientific terminology.
Technical translation. This is a very, very specialized translation. For example, engineering instructions are translated, as are guides for different products. Clarity is very important in this translation. For example, all products have something called guides for their use, as well as engineering instructions for using computers, and so on. The most important thing in this translation is clarity.
Legal translation. We can say laws or legal contracts, court documents, and agreements. This specializes in translating laws, contracts, court affairs, court documents, and treaties. It requires the student to understand the legal system and also requires accuracy in terminology. Contracts.
Commercial translation. This specializes in translating commercial documents, marketing, and finance. The goal is to attract customers and maintain any technical aspect, maintaining excessive technicality in this field. Professional tone.
Media translation. For students who want to specialize in media translation, they must be proficient in translating headlines, news, newspaper articles, films, TV series, TV shows, social media content, and the content found on various communication platforms. This translation requires creativity and an understanding of different cultures.
Religious translation. This translation deals with sacred texts, prayers, and religious studies. It requires a deep understanding of religious ideology and culture. It is a very specialized translation and requires deep religious experience and understanding to be able to translate.
So, dear students, the goal of giving you the fields of translation is to show you that translation is a vast field. Literary translation, we will take excerpts from it. Inshallah, we will explain what it is and its characteristics. We will give you easy things. Scientific translation, we will also give you a model and the rules of scientific translation, and we will give you very easy texts for scientific translation. Technical translation, we will also explain what it is and give you some short and useful texts. We will also focus on legal translation, its characteristics, types, the vocabulary used, and we will give you some texts. Commercial translation, we will also give you some texts, and we will also focus a lot on media translation, the rules used, the type of language used, its rules, how to translate. We will also give you very easy texts. Religious translation, we will also give you its different rules, principles, and some easy texts used in this type of translation.
So, dear students, you will specialize in the future in literary translation, scientific translation, legal translation, or media translation. Media translation, in particular, is in high demand, very important, and very, very easy.
Dear students, why did I give you the fields of translation? To prove to you that there can be no perfect translator. I assure you that there is no perfect translation 100%, and there is no perfect translator 100%. Perfection belongs to God Almighty. However, there are translators who are more skilled than others, and there are translators who specialize in law and are proficient in legal matters and are trained in how to translate them, how to preserve the text without betraying it. That is, to give the same translation because one word in law can make a difference. They also use language very precisely. If you want to specialize in literary translation, you must have linguistic ability in both languages, Arabic and English or French. Consequently, you must focus not only on the language but on all the aesthetic imagery in the text to convey it to the target language faithfully and honestly.
Journalistic translation is wonderful and is one of the easiest types of translation. I will also give you its rules, how to use them, how to translate, and without any complications, Inshallah.
In translation, do not be afraid. There is an introduction to translation. We are just giving you the principles of translation. The texts are very easy. In the upcoming lectures, you will learn the secrets of translation, the laws of translation, the rules of translation. Those who attend lectures and focus will truly benefit, not just in Translation 1, but in Translation 1 and 2, in their lives, in their master's degrees, and in their doctorates, because the rules do not change.
