‘I’m appalled how little they know.’ Victor Hanson on the danger of America’s uneducated elite

I'm just appalled when I talk to Stanford students. How little they know. I mean, for four or five generations, if you graduated with a bachelor's degree from Harvard or Yale or Princeton, you were an elite. You knew what the Pythagorean theorem was. You knew what a Doric column was. You knew the difference between Lincoln and Andrew Jackson. You knew what started the Civil War. They don't know any of that today. They, the majority of students.

And they don't. They surely don't know anything about civic education. And you know, they'll just have students will talk to you and, "Oh, we're going to get rid of, we got to pack the court. We got to get rid of the Electoral College. We've got to get rid of the filibuster." You say it was 160-year tradition or the, you know, why Hamilton and people wanted an Electoral College. They don't know anything.

And, uh, that, that's dangerous because that's the elite.
