If you're retired, and you want to make money online, YouTube is a fantastic place to hang out. Cuz here's the thing about retirement. I know a lot of people that are retired, and they love it for about a week. And then they're like, "Now what?" And I think that as humans, we need to have some sort of purpose, right? We need some sort of drive to do something to keep us waking up every morning with a purpose, and and and feeling like we're fulfilling our life in a positive way.
Um and so, I think the idea of retirement sounds nice on paper, but often times people get bored in retirement. And another thing about retirement is most people don't have the luxury of retiring the way the picture-perfect retirement would be, like traveling around the world, just enjoying life, having plenty of money to survive. Most people are struggling with retirement. They did not get um the retirement money they needed that will actually allow them to live the life they've been used to living up until that point. So, I think that YouTube is an excellent place to supplement that income that you are making from retirement, and and actually connect with other people.
So, another thing I've noticed with people in retirement, they actually become quite lonely, because, you know, often times people are aging, maybe they're less active, maybe they hang out less, maybe they're actually dying, maybe they have diseases, you know, like it's a harder time of life where your social circle is becoming smaller and smaller and smaller, when it's actually the time of life where your social circle should become bigger. Because, like, right now, I'm in midlife. I'm 40 turning 47 next week. And my life is so hectic. I I can't really have a social life. I mean, my life is being a taxi driver for my kids, is building my business, is YouTube, is working with clients, is, you know, spending some time with my husband when I can. Like, it's a very busy time. But when you're retired, being social is like uh the blood of life. Like, is that the right way to say it? That sounds gross. >> [laughter] >> But it's it's like it it'll energize you. Because the community that I've built through my YouTube channel, it is so invigorating for me. It is it gives me so much energy, and I I love reading the comments, and I love connecting with the people in my school community, and just meeting people all over the world, and just hearing their different perspectives, and connecting with people that are like you. And that is all achievable by YouTube. And you can also make money with it, right?
So, if you're retired, you probably don't need that much extra cash. And if you are at the age of retirement, you have so much wisdom to give, and so much um lived experience to tap into to make videos about. And people really want to hear from people that have done the thing, and lived through it, and survived, and come out the other side, a success story. There's so many opportunities for making money with YouTube, by making a channel, that in retirement, you have time to make them, right? So, there's so many things you could learn that will keep your mind active with YouTube as well, like learning how to record a video, learning how to edit a video, uh thinking about what topics. You know, the thing that I really loved when I came to YouTube, that I think is so beneficial for people in retirement age, is um like activat- activating your creativity again. You know, after years and years of working maybe the same job or doing the same career, finally retiring, you have to seek out adventure, you have to seek out things to um to activate your mind and make you you think things differently and come up with ideas. But if you go on YouTube, your mind is constantly thinking about, "Okay, what could I make next? How could I make it different? What could I say? How could I communicate it?" It makes you feel alive again.
Coming to YouTube as a retiree, I think is a beautiful moment in time. And the other thing, too, is that right now, so many midlifers and beyond are flocking to YouTube. And so, you will find when you post videos um after retirement age, that you will attract so many people to you that are in retirement age as well, and thinking like, "What do I do now?" And you could build a huge following very quickly, and and then just have that sense of purpose again. And and also make money from YouTube AdSense, or make money from maybe you mentor people, or you coach people, or you um sell a book that you wrote, you know, whatever it is. There's so much opportunity for YouTube for retirees, because one, they have the time to devote to it. Two, they have the knowledge. Three, they have the um the backbone to do it. YouTube is hard, but when you've reached 60 plus, you have seen a lot, and you've been through a lot. And so, some things don't seem as big as they do to people that are younger to you, cuz you have had decades more of life experience behind you.
So, I just want to encourage you that if you are retired, and you're looking for extra income, YouTube might be your haven, because it has been my haven at midlife. And I have kids, and I have family, I have like a full bustling life, and I'm still making it on YouTube, and I'm still um enjoying incredible income, and working with amazing people. And you could have that, too, um as a retiree. And you could have it at the level you want. Like, maybe you only want a couple hundred bucks to make it worth it. Maybe you, you know, and you could make that with AdSense. Maybe you want like, maybe one month you decide, "I'm going to mentor someone and make like a few grand." And then you don't mentor anyone for the next 3 months. And then you're like, "Oh, I really like this person. I think I'll mentor them." You pick and choose. Like, that's the beautiful thing about being retired. You have some income, and then if you need a little bit more, you just hop on YouTube, make some videos, speak your truth, show up as you are, have the confidence because you are at that age, you've lived life, and and it's beautiful. And you will connect and become more social again, have a live a life of purpose, activate your mind and creativity, and it's an amazing platform to join. I really do believe that. And right now, um being authentic, being real, being raw, the the entry fee to YouTube is so low. Um there's a lot of slop out there, but if you you communicate clearly your ideas, um and show up as a real human being, I think you'll reach a lot of great people, and you'll have a lot of fun doing it. So, that's what I recommend. If you're retired, jump on YouTube, and just completely transform your life. And it is one of the best personal development tools out there. So, you will experience a lot of personal growth on YouTube, more than you ever expected. So, I definitely recommend it, and hope to see you out there. Bye for now.
