I just submitted Vloggit to the App Store, but I had to fix one problem. The app might make me go broke.

Before I submitted, I was checking our Firebase bill for May and it was 92 bucks. Considering we have 900 daily active users and 63,000 people on our waitlist, that's a lot of potential money being spent. At this rate, if we grow to even 10,000 active users, that's a massive bill and I'm already a broke chopped founder.

So instead of digging through hundreds of files trying to find the problem myself, I spun up Cursor, specifically a cloud agent. Cloud agent runs entirely in the background, no IDE necessary. So I told it, "Investigate our Firebase usage, cross-reference our analytics, and find out what's costing us so much." Then I closed my laptop, went to a nice bench, and started contemplating my life choices.

And as I was doing that, the cloud agent found one of the main issues. Every time you open the groups tab, the app would make a lot of unnecessary reads, way more than it needed to. And the cloud agent flagged it, explained why it was happening, and came back with a full plan to fix it in the span of 10 minutes.

So after I finished contemplating my entire existence, I came back to the full analysis and the plan. So I had to implement the fix and our projected Firebase costs have dropped by about 20%. Unfortunately, I may still be a chopped founder, but at least I won't be broke for a little while longer.

Vloggit's almost out, so follow me to stay updated. And comment cooked and I'll send you a link to download the app when it's live.
