Hey, my name is Mike and in this video, I'll show you step-by-step how to build your very own professional Facebook business page. And this is something that is very important for businesses, even if you don't use Facebook all that often.
There's several reasons for that. One, because a Facebook business page is going to allow you to run Facebook ads, Instagram ads, or any other ads on the other meta platforms out there. Secondly, this is going to be very valuable in ranking on Google for your new business, organization, fundraiser, whatever it is you're doing and you want to make a Facebook page for. Ranking on Google is initially going to be very difficult with a website because Google really likes to vet websites before they show them in search results. And a new website, Google's going to take a little bit of time until you start ranking there. But what Google does trust is Facebook. And so, a Facebook business page is a good way to get found early on when people are searching for you. Thirdly, there are billions of people using Facebook. So, even if you don't use it, it's very likely other people will be looking for your business on Facebook. And last but not least, if you don't do it, there's a chance that somebody else could make an imposter account and you don't want that. It's best to have this since it's free and easy to set up.
So, setting up your Facebook business page is easy. All you do is go to Facebook and log in under your personal account. Don't worry, later you can isolate this and separate it from your personal account, but initially Facebook does require you to start from your personal profile. Now, once you're signed in, you'll see these little nine dots on the top right. Click on that and then go down and click on page.
This allows us to name our page, choose the category. And for the category, don't worry too much about being exactly correct. Let's say for example, I'm going to be selling sunglasses. I'll type in sunglasses and see what is the closest fit. For us, sunglasses and eyewear store happens to pop up and I'm going to go with that. I have the name here. I'm going to call this called Daya Coast Sunglasses. And we can add a bio down here. The bio is optional, but I would highly recommend it. And we can add our hours as well. You can have select hours that are custom right here based on this any day of the week, really. Um or you could just say you're always open, you're never open. So, I think for this, it makes sense to have normal hours. I could say we are like, I don't know, 8:00 to 5:00 or 7:00 to 5:00. And it's also easier, by the way, if you just like highlight this and copy it and you can just paste in your hours for every day. I work from the bottom up, that way it doesn't get in the way. And we can do the same thing with the closing time. So, let's copy that and let's paste that every day here.
Now, there's some other cool things you can do with this. So, obviously you could be closed certain days if you wanted to, but if you click on the little plus here, you might wonder why would you have a plus? Well, that's if you have multiple different hours. So, if you work in the morning and then you have a siesta and then you work in the evening, I don't know, whatever your business is, you can have different hours in the day, multiple times that you are open. And because I'm not doing that, I could change my mind and just hit the X and that deletes it. So, let's say save. We now have our address, our information, the hours. I can now say next. And there's a little bar on the bottom that'll tell you the page health based on other pages that are similar. And the goal of this this video is to give you everything you need so that, you know, you are absolutely better than 95% of other pages out there in terms of what information you actually have. I made up that address and that was not quite correct.
Now, we can add a profile picture and a cover photo very very similar to what you might have on your your Facebook page as it is. So, let me just find a profile photo. Um I'm going to go with just this one here of our products. If you have a logo, that would make a lot more sense here, but I'll drop that here. And then for the cover photo, maybe I'll have some people wearing our sunglasses in the background. And of course, this right here is the action button. Well, let's I scrolled and I accidentally moved that. Stay right there.
Now, the action button is going to be where you're directing people. The whole point of the Facebook business page is to bring people in, they're going to find you and then direct them to your business. Do you want them like, depending on what you're wanting to do, you can customize the action button. So, let's say try it. Do you want people to book, sign up, order, get tickets, message you? What is the action you want people to take when visiting your page? And it could be something like if you're making a business page for a fundraiser or maybe just for like a community event or something, maybe you just will, you know, visit a group or you watch a video or something. It doesn't really matter. Um but I'm going to say contact us is really what we want, which you know, open a website or a contact form. So, I'll say next. We can add a website link or you can have the contact form, you know, baked in right here. And the website link, I'm just going to go to my website and we'll say save. So, now we have that information. We'll click next.
You can connect WhatsApp if you want to. I'm going to skip this for now just because I'm not actually going to link this is a fictitious page, but you should set up WhatsApp and connect. You might as well have every way possible for people to contact you. You can invite friends to like it. So, for a new page, sometimes getting your first, you know, 50 or 100 likes could take some time, but inviting your friends could help you to get there a little bit quicker. I'll say next. I'm not doing that with this again fictitious page. And you can choose if you want notifications and if you want any kind of marketing or promotional emails from Facebook. I'm going to disable both of those. I get a lot of notifications. Um so, I don't really feel like I need those.
All right. So, now we have a Facebook business page. It's far from done, but you'll see we have on the right side, this is what the page is going to look like if somebody visits it. If we go to all, it'll show you, you know, a post and some information and stuff like that. We've got these different tabs here. You can see the about page, which is going to have a lot of information that we do want to populate. We've got photos, followers, mentions. And if we click more, there's a bunch of other things that we may or may not want to include over there. So, let's go back to all.
There's going to They give us a little checklist of things that can, you know, that they want us to do when we first get started. If you want to invite friends, you could do that like I said. You can make a first post, a first reel. I'm not going to do any of that right now. But down here, this is something you do want to make sure is correct. So, details. Tells the hours, we're good. What the link is good. You can add more links on here as well. So, you can add up to 10 links. And if you want to, you click on the little pencil icon and we can add more links. So, if I click on add link, I can say maybe this one's like YouTube YouTube channel and I can put in my link for the YouTube channel. And I can add other links down here. So, link to your TikTok, link to whatever. 10 different links. Now, I would recommend if you have multiple platforms, put all the links right there. If somebody finds this and they're like, all right, I really want to contact you. Well, make sure that you have a good contact link here as well. If there's like a contact form on your website, for example. So, I'll say save and we'll have multiple links here that people can then go out to.
If we click on about, let's go through these right now. So, we have the intro, we've got category, those are kind of redundant right there. If you want to change them ever, you easily can. If you want to make it private, you can do that as well if you don't want people to If you don't think it's really an add to your page. You've got personal details. If that's relevant, I think a lot of things aren't relevant, but languages would be very relevant if you have staff that can speak Spanish as well. It's probably pretty beneficial to add that in here. If you want to add a little bit of personality, you can add a favorite quote down there. And we have some other details. So, price range could be quite important. You could say, you know, what kind of stuff are you selling? Are you more premium, which is very relevant for like restaurants and stuff? Are you premium? Are you cheap? People are definitely looking at that. But really, no matter what you're doing, this is going to be pretty pretty beneficial to include on there. So, maybe these are kind of moderately priced sunglasses. I'll save that and now people know what we're really offering. You can also add your founding date, any kind of diversity info, things like that. I recommend populate all of this. Just have as much information as possible on here. We already saw links. We've got communities, not really relevant for this kind of a business. Services, if you're offering them or credentials, that would be really beneficial to add here. So, you just click on any one of those. You can add your license in here and a link to that. Um if people are wondering, maybe you're a roofer, maybe you are, I don't know, installing solar panels and there's some type of like training you did. Maybe you are Whatever it is. Like there's so many things that you can add in here as well as, you know, this this specialty. So, not just like, all right, I cut trees down, but you know, I specialize in trees that are like hanging over your house and I have a crane and I remove them like that. If you have any promotional offers or affiliate links, affiliate links is kind of an interesting thing to add here. But, you know, for this business, I would say promotions make the most sense. So, you can add a title and you could say uh save 10%. You can add a link here and we could say save. So, now we have this little promotion on here so people can see it. They're able to click on it, interact with it. It'll send them to the website and they have a code they can use uh to, you know, get that 10% discount or whatever. We also have some other things that are kind of more personal related that I don't think are really going to matter here like work, education, hobbies, interests, travel. Um but contact information is obviously quite important for a business like this. If you want to link your other social media accounts, I remember Remember I showed you you can have links over here, but you can also add your social media links right here. So, for example, if I wanted to add Instagram or YouTube or TikTok, Threads, Snapchat, you know, there's so many different ones you can add. Actually, really long list to be honest. Um I recommend adding all of those right here. Again, so people can find you on multiple different platforms.
So, I know that was a lot that I threw out you right there, but in summary, go to the about page, go through all of this. Just click on one at a time, populate whatever's relevant for your business.
Next, you might think, all right, we have so many things here that maybe are not the most relevant like followers, I don't really need to show that. Um maybe you've got some other sections like live or events or things like that. What we could do is click on the more button and go down to manage sections. And from here, you'll see some of them are going to be stuck like you can't get rid of them. Others we could just remove like we don't need to have likes or check-ins. I could delete those. I could get rid of reviews given. I'm probably not going to be leaving reviews on other things using this account. And I can say save. Now, I personally wish that we were able to get rid of like live and groups and events cuz that's not always going to be relevant for this kind of a business. But if we go to live, you'll see it just says nothing there. So, it's not a negative, it's just a dead end for anyone who visits your site. So, let's click on the all page right there. Brings you back here.
And on the left side, let's go down to settings. Now, within settings, it kind of brings you to the the more back-end side of this. There's a lot that we can do here. Now, within settings, this may seem intimidating because there is a lot on the left side, but going through the most important ones first, we can go through notifications. You can disable notifications just so you're not totally overwhelmed, and you can get the important ones. I'm a big proponent of this. I try to limit as many notifications as possible. I really want the fewest ones coming through. We've got a couple other things that are more so related to your experience on here like media and dark mode, but if you wanted dark mode, you can get that on Facebook right here. Page details will bring you back to what we already saw. So, don't click on that one. But, how I find how people find and contact you is going to be important. So, do you want this to be on search engines? You want to make sure yes. You want to make sure that this is toggled on. It should be on by default, but just in case, go here and check that so you are discoverable. And same thing here, do you want it to be recommended to people looking at similar pages? I would say yes because that could very well be one of your competitors as the sim- similar page, and somebody sees yours and comes over to you. Allow people to message your page. Yes, you probably do want to do that unless you're not monitoring it, in which case I would toggle that off, you know? If you are not constantly looking like if you don't have notifications on for that or you don't have it on your phone, then that could be a negative if somebody messages here and you just don't reply. So, I'm going to leave it on. I think it's better if you can leave it on, but you know, just something to consider there.
We also have post down here. I like to usually share these as a story automatically uh for something like this. So, if somebody sees a little story icon, they click on that, they realize there's a post, and they can see that as well. You can maybe disable comment summaries. I feel like that probably wouldn't make the most sense for a lot of businesses, but you know, it's some AI stuff that does exist and people might appreciate it. I'm also going to disable visual search on my post because I don't want it recognizing something and linking to some other product that somebody else is selling. Everything looks good with stories. I'm not going to change that.
If we click on page setup, there's some more advanced things in here related to our page. So, for example, the status of your page right now, no violations, you're good. In case you ever had like a I don't know, copyright violation or something. You have advanced messaging options here, which I could make a whole different video on that. I think that's a little more advanced, and I'm not going to get into that for this video right now, at least not yet. Maybe later in the video I will. But, let's go back. We also have, of course, reels, followers, and public content. Go through all these settings, but one that maybe you want to do is hide comments with any kind of profanity. Depending on what kind of business you have, if it's more family-friendly, yeah, that might be a good idea to hide that. Plus, anyone who uses profanity is probably not saying something positive about your business. Go to page and tagging, and I don't want other people to be able to post on my page. So, I'm going to disable that. And keep in mind, your settings might be a little bit different depending on what you chose for category earlier in the video.
Then, of course, we have linked accounts. If you go down to linked accounts, you'll see permissions, linked accounts. You're able to link WhatsApp. I already talked about that. Uh and of course, Instagram as well. So, if you haven't already made an Instagram account for your business, you could do that right now. I actually have a separate video on how to do that. It's very easy, but then you just click on link your Instagram account. You'll say connect account. It'll have you sign in to your Instagram account. So, I'll say connect right now. We'll say continue, and then it's going to pop up, and you just sign in to Instagram, and uh then it'll automatically be connected to your business page. So, it's kind of nice to have both of them in the same place, easier for cross-posting. If you post something on Instagram or on Facebook, you can automatically have it post between the two of them to save you a lot of time, and of course, messaging and things like that are a lot easier that way.
Now, if you ever wanted to delete your Facebook business page, what you would do, so let me just show you how I got here. From your Facebook business page, you'll go to settings. You scroll down to access and control, and then you can click on delete page. You can also unpublish your page or deactivate your page if it's more temporary. Uh deleting it is permanent. I think you have about 30 days to undo the delete, although maybe that's just personal accounts. Be careful. Don't just delete it if you don't need to or you don't want to. I'm going to say cancel. Obviously not deleting this new page that I just made.
Now, in the future, if you are on Facebook, it's really important that you choose if you're doing everything, engaging online using this account or your personal account. You'll see that in the top right, the profile photo there. So, don't go around commenting like you would your personal account with your business or the other way around just because it's kind of an awkward setup that you don't want to end up in.
Now, what I recommend doing right now is actually setting up or creating some posts. It's good to have some like you don't want it to look like a dead page that was totally abandoned. Make at least five to 10 different posts. They could be videos, they could be photos, they could be, you know, if you're a restaurant or like a cafe, show some of your latest stuff, show some updates in there. Just make it a little bit more of a a real thing that people when they visit this are like, all right, this is still an active and alive business. Also, try to get some reviews. Have people you know go and leave a review here, and you can see, you know, hey, this is rated five stars by, you know, a dozen people or something. Again, getting a little bit more of that social validation on here. So, to publish on here, I showed you before how you can batch a lot of things, but you can also just say like what's on your mind right here. You can post there. You can go live video, photos, reels, different ways you can post. I think that's probably the best next thing to do just to get a little bit more life on your page. And once you reach probably about 100 followers, you start to kind of unlock this a little bit.
So, I hope you found this helpful. I think the next thing you'll probably want to do after that is one, set up an Instagram business page if you haven't already. And two, uh it's really I think valuable to eventually learn how to run an ad. You don't really have to do a lot of advertising. I think this is great as an organic resource, but at least setting up your account and understanding how to run an ad could be quite beneficial so that you have that resource available just in case there's an opportunity that you're like, I really wish I could run an ad on this, but I don't really want to learn how to do that. Now is a great time to learn how to do that. You could very easily just like boost post by clicking create ad. Or again, I have a separate video talking about the back-end of how to create a really optimized Facebook or Meta ad as they are currently called.
So, hope you found this video helpful. Thanks for watching. Leave a comment below, and let me know if you have any questions.
