Daily Wire thinks Mormons are Atheists!

St. Timothy2:34

Transcription

Breaking Daily Wire just dropped a 90-minute expose titled "Why Mormons Are Atheists." Catholic apologist Joe Heshmire on Matt Frad's show "Pints with Aquinas" argues that Mormonism is philosophically a species of atheism. Why? Because it completely rejects classical perfect being theology, the God of the post-biblical creeds and ecumenical councils that defined God.

This philosophical shift claims that if you don't believe in the absolute creator, the definition of God changes entirely. Classical theism defines God as the uncreated immaterial source of all existence. Mormonism, however, presents a different view of the God and the universe's origins. It's a debate that's getting a lot of theological attention lately. Let's look at the four big reasons why.

Number one, no creation out of nothing. Latter-day Saints teach God organizes eternal matter. He didn't create the universe from absolute nothing. Some type of unorganized matter always existed. He brings order and function out of chaos.

Number two, God has a physical exalted body and Jesus Christ also gained a physical exalted resurrected body. They believe God the Father is a glorified being that is the same species as man with an exalted body.

Number three, humans can become godlike through the atonement of Christ, sharing in the divine nature. Latter-day Saints believe that through Christ, families can be perfected and achieve Christ's divine nature and be joint heirs but still subordinate to the Godhead.

Number four, there are multiple beings who have attained oneness and the divine nature with the godhead and thus are also godlike although not worshiped and are subordinate to the God the Father. They say this makes the LDS god not the absolute uncreated immaterial without passion without body without parts nine creed god. So technically Mormons don't believe in god, they say.

Critics call it clickbait and a semantic trick. Latter-day Saints fire back. "Our first article of faith is we believe in God the Father, his son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost, the biblical definition. We just don't believe the Godhead shares the same non-physical essence or the non-biblical homosios." The episode did not invite any Latter-day Saints to respond.

"So, is Mormonism philosophically atheism? Or is this just Catholic theology redefining God after declaring the Bible was closed? And after declaring the heavens are closed?" Watch the episode and talk to a Latter-day Saint or ask the missionaries what the Latter-day Saints really believe. Find out for yourself. Check out www..comtorist.org to learn more.
