Judaism is the expression of the Covenant that God established with Abraham and his descendants through his grandson Jacob, also called Israel.

The people of Israel were chosen to be an Exemplar nation and promised the land of Israel by God, under the condition they lived in accordance with God's law revealed to Moses and the Torah.

The Torah, Nevi'im, and Ketuvim constitute the three divisions of the Hebrew Bible, also called the Old Testament by Christians. Some of its notable narratives include Noah's Ark, The Exodus, and the rule of David and Solomon over Israel.

Historically, the kingdoms of Israel and Judah were located in the region of Canaan and worshiped the single God called Yahweh. The Assyrians and then Babylonians conquered the region, exiled the Jews, and destroyed their first temple.

The Persians later allowed the Jews to return to Judah, where they built the second Jewish temple. The region was then conquered by Alexander the Great and then Rome, which destroyed the Jewish temple and exiled the Jews, who spread across different regions. [Music]
