You know, to give the Lord a hand clap of praise and you may return to your seats. Be seated if you need to. We welcome you to this second service. We're excited to see what God's going to do here in our midst. I've seen brother Caleb Smith walk in. Brother, won't you come talk to us for a second? While he's getting ready to come, why don't we just stretch our hands toward all over this campus where the Sunday School classes are going on? It's essential and vital that our kids get what they need from God in teaching. Lord, have your way. God, be with each and every Sunday school teacher. Anoint each and every class. God, and just do what only you can do. Brother Smith, talk to us.
Praise the Lord, everybody! Aren't you glad you came into the house of the Lord today? Praise God. I've had to your pastor, wonderful family, this church. I say it every time I'm here. So thankful for what God's doing in Sebastopol, and I can't wait to see what God has in store. Let's have church at this three o'clock service. Praise the Lord. Why don't we worship with them as they prepare to sing?
That drives me to my knees when there are more questions. Thank you. And all of the things I can't figure out, leave me with more tears. I don't know how he's going to move, but I know that he knows what I need. And sometimes he's water.

I'll be listening and I choose to trust and believe that the same God who spoke all the world in the place, he's the same God who speaks peace to me. And I don't know how he's going to move, but I know that he knows what we need. Sometimes he's water to the thirsty. Sometimes he's fire, and he's all consuming. Being inside, boys, it's louder than thunder. Oh, but sometimes. Yes, sometimes, sometimes he whispers. Sing it with me. So I'll be listening and waiting on him. I choose to trust and believe.

Lord, that powerful song. You may return to your seats and remain standing. We want to give you an opportunity to be blessed while you're doing that and preparing that. I'm excited today. I, I learned that brother Forsyth is going to be teaching to us. Oh yeah! Come on, they got some fans in the house.
I told him, I said, now, you know, Pastor got up there a little bit ago, and he didn't have but two or three scriptures. I said, you know, I mean, you ought to just go ahead and try that out. He didn't really seem too sure about that. Um, he didn't think that was something he was going to do. So I'm excited. We want to give you an opportunity to be blessed. Let's pray over this. God, we love you and we thank you. God, we thank you for an opportunity to come into your presence, Lord. An opportunity to sow into your kingdom, Lord. Bless the tithe, the offering, the gift, and the giver. Like you may bring your tithes and offering at this time. Let's worship together.

That's what we're looking for. That's what we're looking for. Hallelujah. Glad you're glad you're here in the second service. This is our Sunday school service. We got Sunday school classes going on all over this campus behind us. Uh, kids, adults, victorious living, people new to the faith, all over this campus is learning about God's word today. Hallelujah. We got to have. We got to have God's word inside of us. You got to have his word inside of us. And, uh, Pastor told me I could make a couple announcements right here, and I'm, I'm going to because I might not have no time at the end. So, uh, don't forget about our Wednesday nights. We have teaching classes going on on Wednesday nights. Also, we have a marriage class. Hey, your marriage might be perfect, but hey, we can, we can still use a class on it. It helps. It helps. We can always improve it. Uh, your finances might be perfect. We got a marriage, we got a financial class. We got a couple of them on Wednesday night. Hey, we can, we need to keep them that way. Keep our finances in order. We got child rearing. We got, we got every type of class you just about could imagine. And you know, it's, uh, it's a benefit. It's a, it's a blessing to be able to have that. So take advantage of it. Don't, don't, uh, take a night off. Do that on Thursday night or Friday night or Saturday night or Monday night. Hallelujah. Not on Wednesday night. Yeah, Wednesday night. There's a lot of awesome things going on around here. I'm thankful to be a part of a great church. Great church.
I feel like there was something else. The connect groups. That's it. Yes, sir. The connect groups have started. We've got a smaller number of groups this year, this season, but that's okay. It's, uh, they are still effective.
Um, brother Eric came to me during pre-service prayer and he said, hey man, uh, Mark, a new guy that's moved here from, from, from Utah. He said, Mark was at my connect group last night and he was the last one to leave. You know, I had never been to a service, but that people, that's the, that's the avenue that we can reach some people. We, our pastor and all the wisdom that God has gave him, has gave us all these different outreach opportunities. And connect groups is one of them. And Wednesday night teaching classes is one of them. And we, we have so many opportunities to reach your co-workers and your friends. Invite your co-workers, your friends. Invite them to, to connect group. Invite them to Wednesday night. Tell them about the classes. And, and, and God will move on them. They'll be here on a Sunday. Gotta move on them. They'll be right here getting the Holy Ghost, one, one service.
Because we reached out to him. Hallelujah. I'm thankful for this opportunity. You know, we go to a great church. And, uh, and I'll speak on behalf of the, the lay ministers, just for a moment. But lay ministry, it ain't, it ain't like this at every church. We, we get opportunities here that a lot of churches don't get. A lot of lay ministers do not get.
It don't matter if it's a big church or a small church. I can think of, I can think of one of the largest churches, and their lay ministers don't get to do what we do in this church. I can think of one of the smallest churches, and lay ministers don't get to do what we do. We, we get to teach. We get to lead service. We get to baptize, pray for people, work the altars. And, and I, I was telling brother Matt during the first service, I said, I remember when Pastor started letting other people lead the service. Y'all remember that? It was four or five years ago, and it was rough. You know, it was just, it was like, oh my goodness, I wish Pastor would lead the service. I wish Pastor would pray for people. I wish Pastor would do everything. Well, he can't do everything. And he's got a, he's got a vision that a lot of pastors don't have, and that's to include his, his lay ministry in, and teaching and leading and, and building. And, and you know what? And when, and when, and what I've noticed, and I'm gonna get started here in a minute. Um, what I've noticed is, is it works. It is working. And whenever he's not here, whenever God has to use him to benefit somebody else, this thing just flows. It ain't like it used to be. And, and what wisdom it took to do that. And I'm thankful for this opportunity because we get to, we get to do some things that a lot of, a lot of churches don't get to do. Thank you, Pastor. Thank you for the opportunity. We love, uh, we love you and your family so much. And, um, I heard somebody say one time, he that findeth a wife, findeth a good thing. And I, I found a wife about 13 years ago, 14 years ago. And I'm thankful for her today. She, she is, I'll just tell you, she's the reason that we are here. She, she is the reason.
I remember some of our conversations, and we just said, you know what? We gotta be in the perfect will of God. And I love my wife. I'm thankful for her. She, she keeps me humble. She lets me know. She told me today, she said, take your time. Take your time. You will be out by four. But I'm not gonna be done in 10 minutes. Hallelujah. I want to take my time.
Um, we're gonna go to, just remain seated. We're gonna go to, uh, Acts chapter 2 and look at one verse. Acts chapter 2 and verse number one. All right, guys, whenever y'all don't come up here with as much stuff as I did, when y'all come, because there ain't a whole lot of room. It's, it's got smaller on us. So it shrunk a little bit. I'm gonna have to set something off in a minute. And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, I believe everybody in this building probably can quote this scripture. But I want to look, I want us to look today and try to pay attention. And maybe, maybe from now on, whenever you come across this verse or read it, or somebody reads it, or something, you'll, you'll remember. When the day of Pentecost was fully come. Everybody say, fully come. When it was fully come. It had been coming for a long time.
It had been on its way for a long time. A lot of people have been talking about the day of Pentecost. When it was fully come, there was a day when the day of Pentecost was fully come. I just want to talk just a few moments. And we can title it, why Pentecost?
Hallelujah. Um, maybe she has my first slide. I, I sent someone a few slides and I hope, I hope they could come or whatever. Hope I got them to them in time. If I didn't, we'll just try to make it without them. But hopefully, there they are. Oh, we're going to look at Pentecost from the beginning today. We're going to go way back. And, and many times I think we try to explain our experience or what Pentecost is. We try to explain it right there in the book of Acts. But you got to go, you got to go way back to start getting the, the full, uh, meaning of Pentecost. Pentecost is not a religion. Pentecost is not a denomination. Pentecost is not an organization. It, it, it's none of those things. Pentecost was, was set by God. And, and we're going to talk about it just for a few moments. Um, the way in which Jesus fulfilled the Jewish feast is a fascinating study. When you start looking at the feast, the Jewish feast in Hebrew scripture, the Jewish prophet Amos records that God declared he would do nothing without first revealing it to his servants and pro, and the prophets. He said, you know what? I, he, he said, I'm going to reveal to you what I'm doing. And that's what he, that's what he done. He, he revealed, he revealed stuff to his people. And, and, and we'll talk about, I don't want to get ahead of myself here, but he said he would, he wouldn't hold it back from his people. From the Old Covenant to the New, Genesis to Revelation, God provides picture after picture of his entire plan for mankind. One of the most startling prophetic pictures is outlined for us in the Jewish feast. Let's look at a few of them to, to just, uh, let's go to Leviticus 23 and verse number one. We'll, we'll read a few verses right here just to give us a foundation to launch from. And we'll, we'll see how far. So, so let's, let's go through these first, uh, 15, 16 verses. I know it's a lot of reading, but don't fall asleep. The Lord spake unto Moses, saying, speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, concerning the feasts of the Lord, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts. Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of rest, and holy convocation. Ye shall do no work therein. It is the Sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings. Verse number four. These are the feasts of the Lord, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons. In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the Lord's Passover. So the first feast, the Passover. The fifteenth, and on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the Lord. Seven days ye must eat unleavened bread. In the first day ye shall have a holy convocation. Ye shall do no servile work therein. But ye shall offer an offering made by fire. Everybody say fire. What we have on the day of Pentecost unto the Lord seven days. And the seventh day is a holy convocation. Ye shall do no servile work therein. Verse number nine. And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, speak unto the children of Israel, saying to them, when ye come into the land which I give you, given to you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest. The first fruits. About five more verses. This is our, our adult Sunday school teaching class. So I wished I could run around here and holler and scream like Ryan Brister and run the aisles and walk the aisles like Cody Frederick, but we're teaching today, so we gotta, we gotta go through these scriptures. And he shall wave the sheaf before the Lord to be accepted for you on the morrow after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it. Okay. And ye shall offer that day, when ye wave the sheaf, an he lamb without blemish. A lamb without blemish. Does that sound, uh, familiar? They were in the Old Testament. Here, lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt offering unto the Lord. And the meat offering thereof shall be two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering made by fire unto the Lord for a sweet savour. And the drink offering thereof shall be of wine, the fourth part of an hin. Let's go a couple more verses and we're done. Ye shall eat neither bread, nor parched corn, nor green ears, until the selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto God. It shall be a statute, a statute forever. A statute forever. He didn't say a statute for the Old Testament. Instead, a statute forever. All right. You put the first slide back up. The, the one you had up. The Hebrew word for feast, the Hebrew word for feast means appointed times. That's all it is. When, when you talk about feast, talk about appointments. It's an appointed time, is what the feast is. It just, it's just a Hebrew word that means appointed times. God has carefully planned and orchestrated the timing and sequence of each of these seven feasts to reveal to us a special story. The seven annual feasts of Israel were spread over seven months of the Jewish calendar and are set times appointed by God. They are still celebrated and observed by observant Jews today. But for both Jews and non-Jews who have placed their faith in Jesus, these special days demonstrate the work of redemption through Jesus Christ. The first, um, let's see here. The first of the four, the seven feasts occurred during the springtime: Passover, unleavened bread, first fruits, and weeks. So this first column there, Passover, unleavened bread, first fruits, and weeks. They, they, uh, they have all already been fulfilled. They've already happened. Um, the final three, we're not going to talk about today. They're, they're on the screen. And maybe, maybe somebody will get a chance to talk about those one day. But those three are coming. Right now, we're in between them, the church age. So we're talking about why Pentecost. We're going, we're going to answer that question today. Many Bible scholars and commentary, commentators believe that these fall feasts have, have not yet been fulfilled by Jesus, exactly. But for all believers in Jesus Christ, they, they will be fulfilled. The four spring feasts have already been fulfilled and right on the actual feast day in connection with Christ's first coming. So these were to the day fulfilled, to the very day. And whenever I, I got to reading about this and studying, I thought, well, man, they, they should have known when, when he said, go and tarry in Jerusalem and wait for the promise. Man, they, I told my wife this morning, I was like, they could have went and got McDonald's and come back on the 50th day. You know, they didn't, but they waited 10 days. But, but it came on, but I don't even know if they knew it was, but he, there was such a connection. It came on the day of Pentecost. When the Pentecost was fully come. The Feast of Weeks is what that, what that last feast right there. Pentecost is, um. So let's, let's go on to slide number two. The Passover. The Passover, Leviticus 23-5. You don't have to go there, but Leviticus 23-5 pointed to the Messiah as our Passover Lamb, whose blood would be shed for our sins. Jesus was crucified during the time that Passover was observed. So he died, he was crucified at Passover. As the first Passover marked the Hebrews' release, the first Passover marked their release from Egypt. When, when they, they was released from Egypt, that, that was the, the Feast of the Passover. And the death of Christ marks our release from sin. Egypt, a type of sin and bondage. And that's, that's what that was about. He was, he was releasing us for the opportunity to, to, to be free of sin. We don't automatically get a pass. We got an opportunity to get a pass through obedience. As our pastor was talking about today, we got to obey the gospel. Slide number three. Unleavened bread. Leviticus 23 and 6. You don't have to go there, just leave the slide up. But the unleavened bread pointed to the Messiah's sinless life. As leaven is a picture of sin in the Bible, making him the perfect sacrifice for our sins. Jesus's body was in the grave during the first days of this feast. So we had death in the Passover. We had, uh, he was in the grave during the first days of this feast. The burial. Everybody with me so far? Is this, is this too calm? Slide number four. The first fruits pointed to the Messiah's resurrection as the first fruits of the righteous. Jesus was resurrected on this very day. This, this was the resurrection. This feast marked the, to the very day, which is one of the reasons Paul called him the first fruits from the dead. Slide, the last slide, number five. Is the last slide, but I'm not, it ain't the last scripture. Oh, don't get, I'm taking all my time. So we have the Feast of Weeks, Pentecost. It's all of these summed up. The death, burial, resurrection at Pentecost.
We were instructed on how to apply these other feasts to us. How do we apply this to our life? In the death, burial, and resurrection? Is that, does that make sense? The Feast of Weeks, or Pentecost, occurred 50 days after the beginning of the Feast of Unleavened Bread and pointed to the great harvest of souls and the gift of the Holy Ghost for both Jew and Gentile who would be brought into the kingdom of God during the church age. The church was actually established on this day when God poured out his Holy Ghost and 3,000 Jews responded to Peter's sermon and proclamation. This marked the beginning, the day of Pentecost. It wasn't, uh, uh, a denomination. It wasn't a religion. It was the day that God poured out his Spirit on everybody. When the day of Pentecost was fully come. So we're going, I want you to leave here today and, and, and know why Pentecost is important. Why we are Pentecostal. That's because we want the same experience that they had. Not, not, we don't want to be a religion, or we don't want to be a denomination. We want the Holy Ghost. We want to be baptized in Jesus' name, and we want to repent of our sins, just like they did. That's why we're Pentecostal. I'm not Pentecostal because my grandma was Pentecostal. I'm Pentecostal because the Spirit was poured out on Acts chapter 2. So why Pentecost? It, since, since you can leave that up there, I don't think I've got any more. Just leave that. And we'll, if we need a verse, just go to the verse and we'll, you can come back to that. Since Passover was an Exodus related, related feast, that, that the, um, they called in the Hebrew, uh, the Feast of Weeks, or Pentecost, was Shavuot. Shavuot must be. It was related to Exodus, and it was, uh, celebrated occasion which God revealed himself to his people and made a covenant with them by giving them written instructions on how to live. So if you go all the way back to this, to this Feast of Weeks, or or Shavuot in the Old Testament, God gave his Torah, his written commandments, to Moses, the law. In, in, in, in this book that is so great. We've got an Old Testament and a New Testament. Two, two testaments. We got an Old Covenant and a New Covenant. It's the law was given, and the spirit was given. You can sum it all up in those two things. The law was given with the Ten Commandments and Moses on Mount Sinai on the Feast of Weeks, the Shavuot. And the spirit was given on the day of Pentecost. Now, we, we can't go back to Sinai and, and be standing there when the, the tablets come down. But we can come to an altar and experience Pentecost every day. We can apply Pentecost and the giving of the spirit to, to our lives. Why is this significant? The great event in Acts 2, the New Testament, when the Holy Ghost appeared and rested as tongues of fire on believers, it occurred on this Feast of Shavuot, the same day that the Jews were celebrating God's giving of his Torah on tablets of stone. The same day they were celebrating this. They celebrate this every year. Then, uh, the Holy Ghost came and wrote his, his, it was wrote on tables of stone in the Old Testament. It was wrote on hearts in the New Testament. The Spirit is written. It's, it's instructions and it's law in your heart. He said, I, I came to fulfill the law. I didn't come to, uh, to cast it away. To, I came to fulfill it. So the same day. So there's a connection here. This confirmed God's promise. And, uh, we'll look at Jeremiah 31 and, uh, 31. Jeremiah 31 and 31. And we'll go to 33. I'm sorry, I didn't give you a list of, of, uh, scriptures. Jeremiah 31 and 31. Was the promise from the Father. Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant. Old Testament, New Testament, Old Covenant, New Covenant. He said, I'll make a new covenant with the house of Israel, with the house of Judah. 32. Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord. And verse number 33, the last one there. But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord. I will put my law in their inward parts, and I will write it in their hearts. So not on tables of stone, but in hearts. That's, that's the Spirit. Only the Spirit can get inside of you. Only the Holy Ghost can get in there. So he, he said, the law ain't gonna work. I gotta pour out my Spirit. And he done that on the day of Pentecost. That's what he chose to do. 50 days after the Passover. Exactly. So looking at these two events, there's some remarkable parallels. Remarkable parallels.
Both events, and they was 1200 years apart. Both events occurred on a mountain, Mount Sinai and Mount Zion, known as the Mountain of God. Both events happened to a newly redeemed people. The Exodus marked the birth of the Israelite nation, while Pentecost events recording in Acts chapter 2 marked the birth of the church. Both events involve God's people receiving a gift. It was the Torah in the Old Testament. It was the, the Spirit in the New Testament. Both events was the gift given by God, uh, settling on a mountain, a mountain with fire. You can go back in the Old Testament and read about Moses going up on that mountain and, and reading about the fire, and there was a fire on the day of Pentecost. So it's a remarkable parallel. Both events took place at the same time, on the same month. So people like, why, why do y'all believe in Pentecost? Why is it all about Acts chapter 2? Why are you always quoting 238? And why are you always talking about the day of Pentecost? And why y'all called Pentecostals? And because everything, when the, it says, when the day of Pentecost was fully come, everything was pointing to that day. I'm telling you, I want to have the same birthday as the church had. I, I want to, I want to have the same birthday the church had. That whatever it took for the church to be established, I want to happen to me. I want to do it in my life. Israelites left Egypt on Passover and 40 days later arrived at Sinai. Then Moses went up on a mountain to see God. 10 days later, Moses came down with the Torah.
Um, maybe you can put my slide, last slide back up there. We'll just leave it up there. So 40 days he arrived, this, they arrived to Sinai. Moses went up on mountain, 10 days. He came down with the Torah. Um, the Israelites, the Israelites broke the covenant and 3,000 people died as a result. Everybody say 3,000. How many got the Holy Ghost on the day of Pentecost? It's so interesting, ain't it? 3,000 died because of the law. 3,000 lived because of the Spirit. 50 days after sacrificing Passover Lamb, the Israelites received a covenant from God. 50 days after Jesus was sacrificed, our Passover Lamb, we received a covenant from God. You know, so Mo, let me back up because I think I missed something. It wasn't in my notes. Moses that went up on that mountain for 40 days, then 10 days later they got the law. How many days? And this, I always, I love this scripture in Acts chapter 1. I don't know if it's verse 2 or 3 or 4, but it's somewhere in there where it says Jesus spent 40 days with them speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God. Then 10 days later, the day of Pentecost was fully come, he gave them his Spirit. What a, what a parallel. I'm telling you, we didn't just dream up Pentecost. We did not. It wasn't our idea. This is what Martin Luther, this wasn't John Wesley, this wasn't, in the Roman Catholics, I don't know. This was God. There's a reason that you're in a Pentecostal church. You know what? They might be a day where that name ain't on our sign, but it's going to be in our hearts. You know what? It's going to be in our hearts still. We're still going to be Pentecostal in experience. So both events had similar sounds. Both events had similar symbols: wind and fire and smoke and voices. The Hebrew word translated under thunder when it talked about thunder on that Mount Sinai when God thundered that and the Ten Commandments was all that was going on, that, that Hebrew word is the same word which means voices or languages. What a similarity. The fire, the fire at Sinai was, was one fire visible by all. The fire at Pentecost was individual fires on every person. Sinai, Sinai, the people were kept away from the fire, but at Pentecost, everybody was brought to the fire. It was all brought to the fire. Tongues of fire set on them, on each of them. Sinai, he gave the law written by his finger on tablets of stone. Pentecost, he gave the law written on tablets of the heart. Both events had a mixed multitude of people represented. Exodus 12 and 38. Let's go to that one. That's, that's, we'll look at this mixed multitude that was at both of these events. Exodus 12 and 38. And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much a mixed multitude at that, at that event. Let's go to Acts 2 and 5. Acts 2 and 5. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. A mixed multitude at both events. Hey, this, it was to the Jew first, but I'm telling you, it was for everybody else too. Everybody. The Torah attempted to change people from the outside. For it, it attempted to change people from the outside without the Spirit. Changed people from the inside. Huh? The word Torah means teaching. And what is the Holy Ghost? The teacher. Holy Ghost will teach you all things. He's our teacher. What a similarity. Oh my goodness. Brother, brother Dylan, I feel like you, I ain't gonna have enough time. Maybe, maybe I can get two spots. No, I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. He ran out of time and he got more time to finish. Let me try to hit this, uh, man, and I feel like this, oh, I wish I'd have gave them these so they could run through them fast. We'll see, uh.
You might be sitting out there, you might be watching this or whatever, and you say, well, I ain't got a problem with anything you're saying. I believe it all. It's just the tongues, that it's just the tongues, that Holy Ghost, when Holy Ghost comes on you, speak in tongues. It's just, I can't understand that. Well, let's, let's try to look in the next seven minutes. Six minutes now. My goodness. Uh, we like signs. We like a sign. Anybody ever prayed, God, give me a sign? Hahaha. If you prayed that prayer, raise your hand. We like signs. So God gives us signs because we like, you know what? They wanted a king, and said God gave them a king. We like signs. So he, he gives signs. Genesis 1 and 14. Thank you, media people. I, I apologize. I'm the worst at giving, but I'm gonna try to run through a bunch here. Maybe we can make it. Um, God said, let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide. In the very first chapter, he said, let it be for signs. Let it be for signs. In the very, the beginning of your Bible, he started giving us signs. Exodus, Exodus 8 and 23. Then we're going to go to Exodus 31 and 17. Exodus 8 and 23 says, I will put a division between my people and thy people. And tomorrow shall this sign be. There's going to be a sign of division. We like signs. Exodus 31:17. We're going to go to Numbers 14 and 11 next. It is a sign between me and the children of Israel forever. He said, he said it's a sign. A sign forever. Uh, Numbers 14 and 11. Then Deuteronomy 6 and 22. And the Lord said unto Moses, how long were these people provoke me? And how long will their heir they believe for all the signs which he said I've gave you? So many signs, how are you not going to believe me? Uh, Deuteronomy 6:22. Then Daniel 4 and 3. And the Lord showed signs. Everybody say signs. The Lord showed signs and wonders. We're not gonna read it all. We're running out of time. Daniel 4 and 3. Then Isaiah 7 and 14. How great are his signs? Everybody say, how great are his signs? How great are his signs? Isaiah 7 and 14. We might stop right here and move on to the next. Did I say, yeah, how great are his signs? Isaiah 7 and 14. Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and thou shalt call his name Emmanuel. Let's just go. I got a bunch more of them. I got a bunch more of them, but we're going to go to, uh, First Corinthians 14 and 22. All right. Can y'all read? Tongues are for a sign. If you've got a problem with tongues, you've got a problem with this sign. It ain't the Holy Ghost. He, he just, he just likes for you to know that you got it. He, he wants you to know you got the Holy Ghost. They've done it. They've done a survey one time, brother Smith. They've done a survey one time, and it was, I forgot what percentage of people didn't know if they were saved or not. Well, my goodness, he's trying to give you a sign. He's trying to give you a sign. Peter refers. Let's go to Acts 2 and 16. Man, two minutes and I got two verses left. I got more than that. I just, 2 and 16. You know what they was trying to figure out? They was trying to figure out what was going on on the day of Pentecost. It was like, man, so we're talking about why Pentecost. Uh, he was trying to figure out what was going on, and Peter said, he said, this is that. This, oh, this, this tongues is that the Holy Ghost which was spoken by the prophet Joel. Peter references tongues twice in Acts 2. Let's go to 2 and 33. 2 and 33. When the day of Pentecost was fully come, I want you to understand Pentecost. I'm, I'm sorry I didn't do a good job explaining it. But by the right hand of God exalted, having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he has shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. See and hear. He said, all this you see going on, and you hear everybody speaking with tongues, that's, that's Pentecost. That's the birth of the church. That's the birth of the church. Okay, I gotta, hey, give me three, give me three guys, three, three guys, right quick. I need to, I need to do this and I'll be done. First guy here. First guy standing right here. Second guy standing right there. Young face. The third guy, face the, the first guy. He says, he says, I'm going to the Gospels to all right. I'm done with this. It's four o'clock. It'll just be two minutes. First guy says, I'm gonna go to the Gospels and find out, find salvation. How I'm gonna go? I'm going to the Gospels. That's where Jesus was. That's where the red letters was. That's where, that's where, man, that's where he done all these miracles. First guy says, I'm going to the Gospels. And you, you say, don't do it. Don't do it. Say the church, the church hadn't started yet. Don't do it. The church hadn't started yet. You can't find salvation in the Gospels. The church hadn't, the day of Pentecost hadn't fully come. I hadn't gave the covenant yet. Hey, you, you say, you say, I'm going to the Epistles to find salvation. I'll go out to the Epistles to find salvation. You say, don't do it. That's letters to people. It's already saved. Don't do it. That's the letters to people who've already saved. Hey, you find it right here in Acts where the church was born, where the Holy Ghost was poured out. This, when the day of Pentecost was fully come.
And they say, well, what, what, uh, what does all this mean? Sit down. I'm done. What does all this mean? What is it? He said, Peter said, repent. He said, what we got to do? He said, repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. He said, the same thing that happened to me on Pentecost needs to happen to you. And here's, here's, here's where it gets locked in. Acts 2 and 39. It locks it in. It clinches it. It's over. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and as many as the Lord our God shall call. I'm telling you, this is the New Covenant. He gave it on the day of Pentecost. And he came with fire and thundering and tongues and Hallelujah. There was people from every nation, every tongue, and he poured out his Spirit upon all flesh on the day of Pentecost. God bless you.
