[Music] What's up? What's up everybody? Welcome to Fork and Cold, your weekly injury digest, part of the injury experts channel. My name is Rahul. I'm the fantasy analyst for the injury experts and joined alongside Dr. Dave Loren, doctor of physical therapist breaking down the biggest weekend injuries. Dave, it's going to be interesting. A lot of big big names. So, we're going to cover pretty much everything right from Jayen Daniels to Mike Evans to everything. So, let's dive in.
Uh, your Eagles are back to winning form Super Bowl. Question mark.
>> We will see. I mean, we got a rematch against the Giants. We need a better showing, but we're five and two. We're kind of muddled in the the the top of the NFC, but the NFC is looking pretty damn competitive.
>> Oh, 52 Seattle, baby. Let's go. Team Sam Darnold out here. Let's go.
>> We'll see. I I Dude, I I don't know. I'm still skeptical, but we'll see. We'll see what happens. We'll see what happens.
>> Okay, let's uh jump on to QBs. Uh like I mentioned, Jayen Daniels biggest uh injury I would say this past week after Mike Evans uh hamstring injury. Dan Quinn came out after the game saying he wanted to come back. Is that a good sign? What What are we expecting?
>> Yeah, I mean definitely a good sign. It looks like it is strictly precautionary. I think Ian Rapaort already said earlier today it's likely that he's going to miss this upcoming week's game. Uh we do know that these soft tissue injuries can linger especially in these mobile quarterbacks. They rely really heavily on their posterior chain for that explosiveness. Posterior chain meaning back of the leg muscles, hamstrings, calves. So uh you know I think it's really precautionary more than anything. But if this lingers into next week and beyond then we're looking at maybe a grade one or grade two. Um, but as we know, these younger individuals can heal pretty quickly. I mean, look at Amecha Eggbuka. You know, everyone thought he would be out multiple weeks and he was able to play and play pretty effectively. So, I think really precautionary. I think Washington is just trying to kind of keep their season afloat and just say, "Hey, rest this week. We need you long term."
>> Okay. Rushing QBs returning from hamstring injuries average 28% fewer rushing yards. So, that's interesting. So, we'll see uh what Daniels does when he comes back next week. Okay, moving to Atlanta. Michael Pennix, mild bone bruise, looks scary, but I mean potential to play this week. Maybe next week.
>> Yeah, I mean bone bruise, nothing structural that you're worried about. Um it's really just pain tolerance and edema or swelling control that's going to dictate his availability. Um, you know, the biggest thing to think about is, you know, Penn who's behind him is Kurt Cousins, one of the better probably backup quarterbacks in the league. And they have a juicy matchup this week against the Miami Dolphins. Um, so, you know, regardless of who plays at under center, I mean, you're going to fire up all the skilled players. I mean, uh, especially Bejian Robinson. Um, I mean, he's probably going to go off for like 40 plus fantasy points this week against the reeling Miami Dolphins. They're just a dumpster fire.
>> Yeah. Plus, he's a pocket QB, he's not going to run a lot. So,
>> yeah.
>> But, yeah. So, it's going to be interesting. Okay. Uh, staying in the south, Bryce Young, high ankle sprain. The injury looked pretty scary on the video when the defender just like stomps on him, but maybe like a one week. I don't know. It just seems like the reports are mixed.
>> Yeah. I mean, we don't we don't really know a ton yet. I mean, we do these, as you know, Wednesday. So, I mean, that's when first initial injury reports are coming out. Um, reagravations are very common with high ankle sprains. Um, this isn't really a oneweek fix. Even if he's back, you know, next week and beyond, it's it's going to linger for a while. Look at Minnesota with JJ McCarthy. You know, this is it's been lingering for a bunch of weeks for him. Um, so, you know, it's something definitely to monitor. Um, because as we know, who's the backup with him? You got the red rifle, Andy Dalton.
>> Yep. Mobile QBs off high ankles have 12 to 15% dip in completion percentage. But like I mean that's like bad news for McMillan and Leette had a breakthrough uh game. But all the numbers came after Andy Dalton was on the field.
>> So it's going to be interesting. Okay. Another big name Lamar Jackson limited practice. Uh potential I mean the betting lines say he's going to play. What what what can we expect?
>> Yeah. I mean, betting lines came out earlier in the week or over the weekend and it said Ravens were favored by six and a half and you're thinking, wait, one and five or one and 14, whatever they are facing uh, you know, the Bears. I think people were you know, scratching their heads, but that to me indicates that Lamar is going to play. Um, you know, we'll see how he does the rest of the week. You know, it's it's one thing to practice, but then it's like how does your body respond to practice, right? Especially a mobile quarterback that is explosive. Um, if anything, I think, you know, they're going to limit his design quarterback runs when he gets back. I think if anything, this is a huge boom to Derrick Henry and Derrick Henry fantasy owners because now they don't have to stack the box and really have say dare them. Okay, Cooper Rush beat us. We're just going to shut down the run. So, I think it's going to really open up rushing lanes for Derrick Henry. Um but if you know right now I think that you know Lamar is likely going to play
>> and even if he comes back it's probably going to have a little reduced uh snaps on like running plays so more uh pocket based approach so it's going to be interesting and a quick Jets update the owner came out and of course threw shade on Justin Fields
>> ripped him ripped him
>> but the funny part Taylor has its own knee injury and is considered dayto-day day. Oh my god, that'll be a big pill to swallow if Justin Fields ends up playing this week.
>> Yeah, I mean, Tyrod Taylor, I mean, I think history has shown that he is very I I don't want to say injury prone, but I mean, he gets injured a lot. Um, Justin Fields, I mean, it's one of those things. Remember, they gave him 30 mil guaranteed. So, like, at this point, you might as well I know the owner ripped him, but like, you know, if if say you're giving up on Justin Fields, where do you go from here? you're hitting the reset button again after this year, you might as well just leave them in there and say, "Okay, we'll see what happens at the end of this year." Um, but you know, I I don't know. I mean, the Jets, same old song and dance
>> every year. No change on that one. Okay, let's uh move on to running backs. Kendra Miller, Tone ACL, done for this year. Unfortunate dude doesn't get a break. Do you think he'll be back maybe what mid 2026? You think
>> possibly even before? I mean, ACL surgery, they usually do it within 10 to 14 days posttop once that initial swelling has gone down in the knee. Um, general time frame, you're looking at a 9 to 12 month recovery. I know everyone says, "Oh, AP came back in nine months and rushed for like 2,000 yards." AP was an anomaly.
>> Okay. It's not AP.
>> Yeah. Yeah. No surprise there, right? I'm not breaking the the news there. Um, but yeah, I mean, I think if anything, it's just a huge bump more to Alvin Chimera. His, you know, volume was slipping a little bit. Kendry Miller was stealing some snaps, but now it's back to the Alvin Chimera show.
>> Maybe Devin Neil gets a couple of snaps there. So, that's interesting. Rookie running back.
>> Good stat.
>> Yeah, Aaron Jones, Minnesota play this uh Thursday against the Chargers. He had a limited practice yesterday coming back from a hamstring. You think they weighed him out this week and bring him back next week?
>> That's that's what I'm thinking. Um, you know, they're going to release their final injury report later today. It's Wednesday, so that's when we're really going to know is Aaron Jones going to play or not. Um, but I mean, Jordan Mason has really kind of taken control of that back field. I think Aaron Jones, you know, when he is healthy and comes back, he's going to steal some snaps, but I think it's still going to be, you know, tilted in Jordan Mason's favor, at least for the first few weeks of Aaron Jones's return.
>> Yep. And even if he comes back, he's still going to be he's not going to be the bell cow out there.
>> Agreed.
>> Bucky Irwing ruled out for week nine, which we expected. Sorry, week eight by week nine and he'll be back potentially for week 10. And even if he's back, they're going to have a slow ramp up. They're looking at the Super Bowl,
>> not at the fantasy playoff timeline here. So,
>> they don't care.
>> Let's move on to wide receivers and stay with the Bucks. Chris Godwin rolled out again this week. Do you think he plays this season or are they going to just like it seems weird?
>> Uh, that's a loaded question. I mean, just my initial reaction as a physical therapist. I would say it might be a stretch for him to come back and play. I mean, we don't really have a lot of clarity. We talked at length about the nasty dislocation, fractured ankle that he had. Now, he's in his 30s, so your body doesn't bounce back and recover as quickly. They've already ruled him out with a fibula injury. So, we don't really know. You know, the fibula is a bone. So, we don't really know is, hey, there's possible stress fracture or something in there, like what's going on. the lack of clarity. I've said this before, when there's lack of clarity with an injury, that's when your red flag should go up. So, initial reaction, I don't think he will kind of come back or be effective enough for fantasy football this year.
>> Hey, staying with the Bucks, Mike Evans, concussion and fractured collar bone. Dude, potential. We all want a thousand yards from him.
>> Unfortunate. Unfortunate.
>> Yeah, the streak ends. Uh I think I read he had surgery today on his collarbone. Um so, it's fixated. It's probably going to be about eight weeks till he comes back to play. At that point, you're looking at the end of the regular season, maybe the last couple weeks or so. And that kind of lines up with what Todd B said earlier this week.
>> And when Evans is out, Tampa's red zone target share shifts 11% towards tight ends. So, expect Kottton to have a big role moving forward. Nico Collins concussion pretty standard out here.
>> Yeah, I mean, uh, there's a protocol we all know that you have to try to clear. Um, they played Monday night. It might be a stretch for him to clear protocol by Sunday. I know Marvin Harrison Jr. was able to go Sunday to Sunday, but he was a little bit less effective. And um, so even if he is playing, I mean, I think he's going to be at a reduced effectiveness.
>> Yeah, I think that kind of lines up with the stats, too. Uh, typically players coming back from concussion have a 10 to 15% fewer snaps, especially for wide receivers.
>> Brian Thomas Jr. shoulder. They have a byee, so he'll be back for next week. We don't have to worry about anything. Good to go. Or what's happening?
>> As far as we know, yes. I mean, bye-week is going to help tremendously kind of get him right. I'm sure he's in the rehab, uh, PT, getting rehab every single day. Um, you know, it might be just a lowrade AC joint sprain. Um, so assuming until we hear otherwise, expect a full go post by week.
>> Okay. Kyle Shanahan came out today and said Brendan Aayuk is a week 10 estimate. I don't know. I don't think estimate sounds positive out there.
>> I don't trust a single word. Kyle Shanahan says last year he burned everyone on Christian McCaffrey. This year in the preseason he said, you know, I we're looking at week six, week seven. Yeah, we're right, you know, we're past that point. Um and now he's saying closer to week 10. Um I mean, who really knows? you know, if you have an IR spot, you know, he's just going to sit there and you're going to wait for him. Um, but, you know, it's an estimate. It doesn't really give you a good feeling. So, expect, you know, for if you're looking for him to kind of turn around your fantasy season, uh, you're kind of really, you know, wishing for a long shot there.
>> That ain't happening. And they have a week 14 by week this year. So, they might even like wait on that and bring him back after after that. Okay. Debo Samuel and Terry McLaren for the commanders. DVA was out this past week. I don't know. It just seems weird. Uh heel injury and Terry McLaren quad potential. All the numbers say he'll they'll play this week, but I mean we don't know till like Friday, I would say.
>> Yeah. I mean, both are trending up. I mean, Dan Quinn, the head coach, has said they're expected to come back to practice, but again, that doesn't really mean anything. It's really how your body responds to practice. Um, think about, you know, what we said with Terry way back when, you know, when he would got that second opinion, that was a red flag. So, clearly this quad injury was a little bit more serious than led on. Um, but even if they do come back, I mean, don't expect them to just light the world on fire.
>> And, uh, okay, talking about some tight ends, Darren Waller, it was a strange pick, but then we just realized they placed him on IR. So, his uh, return from retirement ain't going well. So potential he might retire by the end of the season.
>> Yeah, I mean he was doing well too, you know, for the Dolphins. Not many things were going well, but he was this pretty solid tight end. And as we know, tight end in fantasy football is, you know, kind of a rough position to try to get some production from. So usually a strain PC is usually like two, three, fourish weeks. Um, and the fact that they placed him on short-term IR, he's going to be out for the next four games.
>> Ah, bummer. Bummer. Okay. Uh, did I miss any other tight end injuries? I don't think so. I think we covered David and Jooku. David and Jooku.
>> That was uh Yeah, that's been a little weird there, but again, they're just running the ball with Judkins.
>> Yeah, I mean it's they there's he's still kind of daytoday. So again, like we've said multiple times before, monitor the practice reports. Um, you know, Wednesday is usually a veteran off day. Like I know some people may say in the comments, me being an Eagles fan, hey, AJ Brown didn't practice today. Not
>> DeAndre Swift. DeAndre Swift for the
>> a groin. Yeah. I mean, again, it could be just a load maintenance, kind of load management issue. I know that term is more so for the, you know, NBA, but, you know, Wednesday is more like a veteran, you know, kind of rest day for these guys. You know, all they really need is a day or two of practice. They're going to be fine. I expect Swift to play, um, you know, but like you said, um, earlier, Kyle Manangi, I mean, he did well last week. Um, maybe he could, you know, continue to eat into Swiss low just to kind of keep them
>> fresh. I mean,
>> it just feels like another uh Woody Mark situations where we're expecting him to continue and DeAndre Swift comes and smashes. So,
>> inevitable.
>> We never know. Yeah.
>> Okay. Uh, let's uh, as always, our weekly uh defensive player segment. Micah Parson groin tightness. I don't think that's a big deal. I think he'll he'll play. He had a monster game. So,
>> he's fine.
>> Yeah.
>> And Patrick Certan hip questionable. It's considered dayto-day. He'll like power through, right? To play against the Cowboys.
>> All the lights are in.
>> Yeah. I mean, I'm sure he will. You know, he's going to stick uh, you know, on CD Lamb, follow him throughout the field. I, you know, obviously, you know, if you have CD Lamb, you're like, "Oh, that's a tough matchup." But still, CD Lamb came back, was awesome. Um and you know if anything I think George Pickkins is at a higher uh kind of volume this week because um you know of course with that tough matchup even with a banged up Certan uh, you know, CD Lamb that's going to be a hell of a matchups but I think George Pickkins could really produce in this game. So if you have George Pickkins you're licking your chops because I think you're you're in for a big game this week.
>> And if Certan doesn't play uh wide receivers get a 18% uh uh increase in target share. So, that's pretty uh crazy stat out there. Okay, that's pretty much it. And one more defensive player, Andrew Vano, is rolled out for Thursday night. So, that's a bummer for the Vikings. Okay, if you're setting lineups, remember active doesn't mean full go. So, let's see. And uh keep monitoring all the practice reports and uh we should be all set. Thanks, Dave. Thanks a lot for all the uh injury analysis. See you guys next week. Awesome.
>> Good luck, everyone. Yep.
>> Take care, guys. [Music]
