Here we have a selection of goose necks from gardener. Here these goose necks and attachments are from facelift window cleaning warehouse. And these ones here are for the over eight the over eight pole.
So, the first probably most important function of a gooseeneck is that it allows you to direct the brush and set it to the right angle in order that the bristles can sit nice and squarely on the window. Now, that's really important so that they're most effective for the cleaning work obviously that we're doing. The other thing that we want to bear in mind is with the jets, you want them facing at a 90° angle to the window, even maybe slightly downwards because you want that flow of water coming down the window all the time. You don't want the goose neck and the brush to be set pointing upwards at all because you'll be pushing that dirt back up the window.
Goose necks will all be slightly different sizes and shapes. These gardener ones have got a slightly bigger circumference for example than the phantom pole. If we look at the gardener options, if we start here, this is what's called a euro thread. So it's kind of a universal thread available across a number of different brands. A number of different brands use it. So if you've got a Euro thread connector, that will obviously just screw in place like so. Now, the downside of these is when you're working, they can if you're putting pressure on one side of the brush, they can come unscrewed a little bit as you're working. Can become a little bit tricky, a little bit of a pain. And they're all the same size. If it's a euro thread fitting, they'll all be the same size. Now, there's no pivot, no adjustment there in in the angle of the brush as you're working. It's just a nice fixed, sturdy goose neck. fairly standard um and straightforward there. Just allows you to adjust the angle.
Now, if we move across to this one, this is pretty much the same, but it features the quick release, the quick lock gardener fitting. This is the gardener quick lock fitting. Now, the really nice thing about that is you can really nice and easily and quickly change between brushes for different purposes depending on the type of cleaning you're doing. Uh depending on the type of brush you want to use. If you've got all your brushes with these connectors and you're using this goose neck on your pole, you can just swap them over really quickly. Um so that's the really nice thing about the these quick lock adapters.
This one now has a pivot. So, this uh allows you to pivot the brush. I really love working with a pivoting gooseeneck. It really helps me to get into the corners when I'm reaching at windows, maybe over a conservatory, something like that. It might take a bit of getting used to if you've never used one before, but I'd really highly recommend using one if you can get used to it. I find it really helps me get through the work more quickly and more effectively as well. You see this gooseeneck features the pivot here. So you've got the quick lock first, then the pivot.
Now this fitting here has the pivot first, then the quick lock. So you'd obviously use this one with a fixed gooseeneck scenario like that. And then the pivot is actually closer to the brush. What that means is that it's not going to kind of jack knife so easily when you're using the brush. You might find that much more workable uh much more intuitive to use. The only downside of that is this distance here is slightly greater uh than this version. So you see that there. Now, you might think that that doesn't make much difference, but actually when you're using the brush, the longer this distance from the bristles to the angle here, the brush starts to become more difficult to use, more difficult to control.
So, what gardener have is this option here. Now, this doesn't have the quick release, but it has the pivot as close as possible to the brush and then the angle adapter as close as possible to that as well. So, it really reduces that distance from the bristles to the angle adapter. It's fantastic to use. If you use this one, you it's so intuitive. It's so easy to use. Uh it's difficult to to explain really, but that is really the best scenario. But obviously, it makes it more difficult because you haven't got the quick release. So, if you want to change the brush over to a different brush and then you'd have the scenario where you're undoing this screw to change between brushes, which is obviously a little bit more fiddly, a little bit more time consuming. But if you wanted to change from one brush to the next, that is how you would then have to do it.
So I think in a lot of window cleaners in the end settle for this option here where they have all their brushes on the quick lock and the pivots there and this distance here is relatively short. It's in between those other two options there. So I think this is probably the most common uh that most window cleaners will use this option here in that arrangement and gardener have a lot of other accessories which will fit this scenario nicely as well with the quick lock in that fashion.
Now what you'll find is that all of this selection here they all have connectors to the brush in the same place. So, you literally can just swap over the screws and you'll be able to change those connectors between the different brands. But another way that you can also swap between different brands, if you use that part of the connector in the pole, you can just unscrew this bolt here like so, which would mean that you can remove this part of the gooseseneck and fit a different top half of the gooseseneck. So you see this one, the bottom half is window cleaning warehouse and there's two grooves down the side specifically to fit their pole and the top half is a gardener section. So I can then fit it to any of the gardener quick lock connectors. All of these brands are interchangeable by doing that swapping over the top half and the bottom half of the gooseseneck in that way.
Now, this one from Window Cleaning Warehouse, there's a couple of different options. There's the quick release option here. So, if you to screw this connector, you're able to use this quick release, which just clicks in and out really quickly. And there's a couple of different sizes. Depending on which one you wanted to use, you can easily just swap them out. by unscrewing the bolt there at that point and swapping them out. And there's one that's even longer. That allows you to access things that maybe are a bit more out of reach. Maybe a window set back on a roof or if you've got to reach over uh some guttering, anything like that. And this is the facelift swivel version as well. And you can have this set on top. I quite often have it set underneath because the pole hose obviously comes out here to the brush. So that just keeps it nice and neat and out of the way of the hose.
Now the really nice thing about the overate is they do a number of these additional goosesenecks. So obviously same kind of scenario. If you're reaching a window that's hard to access, a bit difficult to reach, um you can simply undo your brush, add in for the extra reach, attach your brush again, and as long as you've got enough excess hose to reach, you then have your extra reach there. being able to reach something that's more difficult to get to. The over eight probably has the best options for for reaching those kinds of things.
Another goose neck here from over eight. This goose neck actually has an adjust we can actually slightly adjust the length of it like so. But again, that distance is longer. It's going to be more difficult to control the brush. So most of the time, 90% of the time when I'm working domestic work, I prefer this option where it's uh the distance there is as small as possible. In particular, I wanted to show you this attachment here. Now, what this attachment does when you undo the screw here, this attachment actually fits in the middle. You actually have to replace this bolt for a slightly longer bolt so that it reaches all the way through and it allows you to have that fitting on there like so. Now, what that means then is you can have a brush and an additional accessory. So, if you have this fitting attached to any and a different accessory here, I have a couple of different accessories um with scrub pads on them. Now, I've got these fitted with the over eight fitting instead of the gardener fitting. So, that this is the same option here from the over eight. It's got a dual goose neck adapter there and it's the same scenario. It allows you to put an accessory on the back. And the fittings come in a fixed fitting and then a swivel version. And the swivel again is very close to the brush, which makes it much more intuitive to use, much more user friendly.
Now, another little option I wanted to show you was just this one here. So, this goose neck has the euro thread on the top, male, and a female euro thread on the bottom. This is just a nice little accessory from Skyac. They just have that which slips in there. There's a hole for the hose to come through the middle of the pole and that's a euro thread. So that will screw on there and you can then attach a brush and actually use that. So that's really handy way of making multiple use of your gussac poles if that's something you wanted to do.
So I hope that helps explain some of the different goose necks. Like I say, there's lots of options out there. I think mainly at the end of the day, it's trying different things, finding what works for you the best.
