I am Breakover Lolita Dyke. In this chapter of our suicide prevention video, "Stay Alive," we'll ask you what made you smile today. Please watch.

I have a favor I want to ask the two of you. You people, you speak and perform in front of thousands. Appears something I'd like you each to try. And you have to pick the time and your talk, pick the time in your performance. And I want you to save the audience at one point. Say, "I want each of you to look at the person next to you, look them in the eye, and say, 'What made you smile today?'"

And the reason for that is, when you say to another person, "What made you smile today?" there's always something that people smile about. The power of "What made you smile today?" is you're enabling a person to remember something pleasant. So they're getting a second hit of that enjoyment. They're sharing it with you. And the power of, if you're depressed, asking someone else, "What made you smile today?" is that you're getting out of self-absorption.

And something that I suggest to a lot of people is everyday, ask one of the invisible people in the world, "What made you smile?" When I've done that to TSA people at the airport, he did it at McDonald's a few days ago, and the cashier looked at me and she said the exact same thing as the TSA agent. They paused because that was in U.S. "What made you smile today?" And they both said to me, "Seeing you, sweetie." Coffee. They're at McDonald's. I mean, you know. And when she didn't have a customer, she kept looking over at me and smiling.

And so, so part of what perpetuates depression is people say, "Well, maybe I don't deserve to be happy because I'm so self-absorbed. You know, down deep, I really don't care about other people. It's all about me." And so when you can say, "What made you smile?" especially to the two invisible people that feel like functions and not like people, you'll brighten their day and you walk away feeling better about yourself. So you do that with your audiences. Just have them pair with each other. I don't know when your time is, but I'd love for you to do.

Let me, let me ask the two. "What made you smile?" You, sweetie. What about you, Kevin?

"Useful, just when you walked in."

"Because I, because we had great, we have a great connection in general outside of this whole thing. And when I heard you, where's your boy son? I saw you at turnaround."

"Saw yeah, that made me smile."

"I think, I think let's, let's hope that at the end of this video and people watch it, it makes them smile. You know, that they go, 'I can do this. I can, I can, I can get through just today and survive.'"
