I Tried Every ‘Healthy’ Ice Cream (So You Don’t Have To!)

Today, we're trying some of the healthiest ice creams you can buy at the grocery store. Some are made with grass-fed dairy. Some are even high protein. Others are dairy-free. But do they actually taste good? Me, Scotty, and Rosie will try them all. I'm judging based upon ingredient quality, but all these guys care about is does it taste good?

We begin with Swoop High Protein ice cream. Scott's all about the gains here. All right, you get mint. Scott, you want chocolate? Yeah, chocolate. All right, so I picked this one up at Target here. It's relatively new. The ingredients are pretty interesting. It's sweetened with coconut nectar, like coconut sugar, but only 10g of added per serving, which is lower than most, as you'll see coming up. The dairy is whey protein, which is non-GMO. It's got avocado oil, real vanilla, real chocolate, no BS, and I emailed the company. It's non-GMO whey. So, this is a Bobby approved high protein ice cream. But how does it taste?

That's a little hard out of the freezer, huh? Sometimes these ice creams have to sit out for a few minutes. Ice cream for breakfast. M. Wow. Yeah. Amazing vanilla flavor. So, full disclosure, yes, I just bought and killed a pint of this like last week. Oh, okay. Yeah, I did give him a sample of this a few weeks ago. My wife were visiting. Dang. You got to try this vanilla. The vanilla's popping. That is crazy. And if you crush the whole pint like Scotty and Andy did, they get 30g of protein. Huh? Andy who? [laughter] You're not sharing with a wife at all. Hang. Try the mint chip. Let's go a little. Wow. I like how it matches Rosie. $6.99 a pint at Target. This one's smooth. Maybe stabbing your ice cream is a new technique. [laughter] But this is literally an epic way to start. Let's go to the score. 3, 2, 1. Scores up. Yeah. Wow. Rosie's. [laughter] Rosie's a tough guy. Okay. Wow. Yeah. Just a little cold. Ah, a little cold.

All right, Swoop ice cream first. Now, next up is Alden Organic ice cream. A real classic, real traditional ice cream. We got French vanilla and we got chocolate. This kind of like grandpa suspenders Fourth of July. Yes. Let's bring out the the big guns here. The big spoon. So this is one of the few ones that is organic from start to finish. So the milk and the cream organic, the cane sugar or organic, real vanilla in here. Now you'll notice there is 14g of added sugar. That's still lower than most on the market, but it is cane sugar as opposed to what we just had previously, which was coconut sugar.

Let's go. Let's try that French vanilla. Oh, actually, the reason I got French vanilla 'cause look, it has organic egg yolks in there, so it should be extra creamy compared to the regular vanilla. I know. Custardy. What's that custard place in Chicago that people line up for? Margie's. Scooters or Scooters. Look, Chicago tip. Best ice cream on the north side, Lickety Split or Margie's on the south side. Who cares? Oh man, it's going to anger some people. M. I know. I know. I'm going to give it that. Chocolate's really nice. Not too sweet, right? My only qual would be that they're using cane sugar instead of a paleo sweetener like coconut sugar. But it is still very solid from start to finish. And soft out of the freezer. Good points. No stabbing needed. No stabbing needed. Okay, let's go to the scoring. I did want to mention I got these at Sprouts and they're $9.99 a tub. I believe they do have them at Whole Foods also. 3, 2, 1. Scores go. Okay. Was it too cold or was it too hot or what? Too sugary. Too sugary. I agree. It was a little sweet, but that's Scotty likes that.

On to the next. Before we go on with the healthy ones, I wanted to give an example, Scotty, of what an unhealthy ice cream would be. And it'd be something like Ben & Jerry's. Watch your mind. And I guarantee they changed the ingredients after they sold it in the early 2000s. 'Cause look, have your vanilla ice cream and tell me, Rosie, what you think of that? This is Half Baked. Can you stab it up a little bit for us? The ones we've had so far today have had what, like 10 to 14g of added sugar. This serving has 31g of added sugar. It's got soybean oil, natural flavoring, carrageenan, ingredients that have no business being inside ice cream. I guarantee after they sold it to the big corporation, they had to have changed the ingredients 'cause why would Ben and Jerry use these in their original recipe? So, let's see what this Half Baked is about here. Oh, yeah. Bro, it's very sweet. I don't like it too sweet. I don't like it too savory. I mean, it's good. Let me try this. But why would you put soybean oil? I know. I don't score. This is not the kind of healthy better for you ice cream that we have available that we're going to show in this video. Only Rosie's going to score for this one. Go ahead, Rosie. Right. This is just a the more you know, the more you grow informational segment here. Once again, I bring my lactose intolerant brother to a high dairy video. [laughter] He asked me before you started, do you have lactase, bro? I'm like, something. I need something. Go. That's my girl. Five out of 10. Yes. Honestly, it did not taste as good as that. I mean, it was good. It was good, but in comparison to the other two, better. So maybe less ingredients taste better. I don't know. If Scott is saying that the health food in the '90s, someone back me up, was nothing like what it is now. There was like it was a soy-based ice cream. That was disgusting.

Let's go back to healthy ice cream. What's the next recipe? Cosmic Split. Ooh, one of my favorite ones. Funny enough, we mentioned lactase in the previous one while I got your first dairy-free ice cream of the day. Okay. And this Cosmic Bliss and a dairy one. I first try this one, Rosie. Full disclosure, this is my favorite ice cream on the market. It's crazy. But let's see what they say. The second full disclosure, I also buy it and eat this ice cream. You buy this. Wow, Scott. Such a hipster. Good for him. I'm an ice cream junkie. That's [laughter] There's a difference. I don't know if junkies would go top shelf. This was $7.99 at Sprouts, by the way. This is very hard to get. Sprouts Market is one of the few places that has it.

Now, this is called Peanut Butter Blitz right here. This one's made with 100% grass-fed dairy. It's sweetened with coconut sugar. The peanut butter is real peanuts, no oils, no nothing. And it's sweetened with coconut sugar. 14g of added coconut sugar per. Get the shard. This has shards. Big pieces of peanuts in there. Here's the crazy thing. This is dairy-free cookie dough. Scott, dairy-free, made with coconut milk, coconut cream. The cookie dough is made with organic oat flour, coconut sugar, maple sugar, coconut oil, cocoa butter. That's really good. LIKE, NOBODY DOES THIS. Look at the chunks, you guys, of the cookie doughs in there. It's like literally a game changer. You would never know that's dairy-free. The peanut butter one is totally insane. Isn't that crazy? I love the peanut butter one, right? See? Told you. Listen to this. Watch. Listen. Yeah, it's crunchy. Where is that? We talked about Bobby approved. This ice cream is Bobby approved from top to bottom.

Okay, let's go to the scoring. Three, two, one, GO. Rosie and I on the same wavelength. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Cosmic Bliss vaults into number one. We're number one. See, if a seven-year-old is crushing it like this, that's a vouch, baby. Before we continue on with the video, you're going to want to stick around 'cause I'm going to show you a Bobby approved ice cream cone that is a literal game changer. That's coming up later. But next up, we have an ice cream called Ice Cream for Bears. Try it out. We got one called Cubbies and Bears and one called Queen and Bean. I got this at Whole Foods. No, Sprouts for $7.99 a pint. M. There's no claim to fame for this. Made with grass-fed dairy, sweetened with raw honey. M. Raw honey is unheard of there. And then real vanilla with beryl eggs and real bear juice. Yeah. But the Cubbies and Cream is interesting 'cause the cookies are made with dates, eggs, butter, cocoa, honey, and vanilla. So, real deal ingredients. Only 11ish g of ice of uh sugar with coming from the raw honey. You have a sugar brain freeze. Brain freeze there. No, I don't. What happens? I'm not doing [laughter] We have an ice cream catastrophe here. Oh, anything? On a weird note, I would say that this tastes a little different. It's 'cause of the honey. No, it's got like a little gritty flavor to it. I don't know. Yeah, it could be the honey sweetener. Yeah, you know, I'm not sure if honey freezes well for that. I think it's pretty good. I love honey. I think it's part. There you go. Let's go to the score. Rosie's ready. 3, 2, 1, GO. OH, THAT'S WHY ROSIE [laughter] WAS HAVING a visceral reaction there. Are you serious? YEAH, IT'S BAD. HOLY COW. WOW. IT'S REALLY making Rosie upset. The bear. Get this bear out of here.

Next up is another high protein pint. High protein ice cream following the earlier one from Swoop. Give it a try, you guys. All right. I don't like strawberry. So, what's nice about this one is that it's high protein, once again, and relatively low sugar. So we have milk, cream, allulose as the sweetener. So actually, it's a low carb, keto-friendly one. The dairy is milk protein isolate, and there's egg and a real coffee. There's only one gram of added sugar in here, which is very nice. Now let's try the strawberry one. How much protein am I eating by if I eat the whole thing? Pie straps are looking really good. I think 30g. Oh, the strawberry one's delicious. Wow. Is that coffee? Yeah. Oh, okay. Strawberry has real strawberries. No natural flavors. M. That's weird flavor. Let's see. Should I change it to Terrible aftertaste? Wait, just wait. It's going to get worse. I was not expecting that. Has a coffee flavor. No. Wow. That's You know what? If you want good coffee flavor, 'cause I bought this at Target, meander over to the coffee aisle. You'll find Hagenas Flave City coffee with Oh, yeah. Yeah, that one. It's on the end cap right now. My new single origin instant coffee with collagen, fiber, MCT, and more. I got this one at Target, too. I'd probably buy the strawberry one for $6.99. All right, Rosie's ready for the scoring. I did not like the coffee one, but the strawberry one was good. Strawberry one's okay, by the way. Unlike the Swoop one earlier, which I got at Target, this one does not have non-GMO, so it's a bit of a strike against it. 3, 2, 1. Go. Oh, wow. Low scores. Yeah, that coffee really did me wrong. Yeah. Ouch. Ouch. So once again, if you want good coffee, check out the end caps of Coffee with Coffee with Benefits at Target nationwide. It's great. It's going to be your new souped-up everyday coffee.

Next up, we have Jeni's. This is another example of an ice cream you don't want to get. It's a higher sugar one, right? So, I got one that the ingredients are relatively decent, but even though it's milk, cane sugar, cream, cocoa, a serving has 24g of added cane sugar. So, that's six. Let me try two servings per. Whereas the better for you ones we've had earlier have 10g of sugar, 14g of sugar. Usually coconut sugar or maple sugar. So I feel like these are just too sweet. See? Just sweet enough. Got a great flavor to it. They're sweet. I guarantee Rosie love is going to mark it low based upon sweetness. I know my customers. All right. All right. Let's get to the scoring. No, she's only We don't have to score. She's scored. This is the one that you know you don't want to buy 'cause I want to buy it. [laughter] One, two, three. Six out of 10. Very good. What's What's the reasoning behind it? Too sugary. Too sugary. Too sugary. See? Okay. The apple has not fallen far from the tree. We like that. I have the perfect sponsor for today's video since we're eating all the ice cream. It's Seed Probiotic. A longtime supporter of the channel. My link down below gets you 25% off your first month's supply and free shipping. I talk about probiotics a lot. This is the best on the market. It's got 24 strains of bacteria that work. The truth is most bacteria die in your tummy acid for most probiotics and they only have one to three strains. This survives the tummy acids and has the 24 strains that help with poop, digestion, immune health, skin health, and more. They just did the largest clinical study ever for digestive health probiotic. And this 17x the healthy gut bacteria and decreased bloat and grass for people in the clinical trial. So if you're in the market for a new probiotic, I want to switch over. Use my link down below. 25% off your first month's supply and free shipping of DS-01. It is the GOAT when it comes to probiotic.

Next up is Nick's. [clears throat] Vanilla bean ice cream. Okay. Rosie is taking a break and making a turkey sandwich. I think her palate is a little overblown right now. So try it out, Scott. All right. First thing I want to say, a little story about Nick's. Nick's are cool dudes. Nick's the kind of guy you can throw up in the backseat of his car and he's okay with it. He's He's cool. He understands. Yeah, I like that. Smooth. Look at that. It's been sitting out for 20 minutes. Nick made it smooth. [laughter] Nice. Look. Oh, nice cutout, Rosie. Their claim to fame is that it is lowish calorie. Oh, it's got protein. That tastes good. Milk protein, whey protein, allulose, little bit of erythritol, real vanilla beans, some gums. [music] Oh, zero grams of added sugar in here. Okay, Nick keeps it real, bro. It keeps it real. It does have a bit of a fake um vanilla flavor, doesn't it? It's like not the most natural flavor. It's all right. Oh, no. It's got this [laughter] ingredient. Oh, it's got epik. It's got modified plant oil. So, you know those Oh, it's so cute. You know those David bars? The way they make them so low calorie and low fat is they put this thing called modified plant oil that your stomach can't digest. And so it actually like passes through you so you don't count the fat or the calories. That's great. It's not great because [laughter] make you poop your pants. Well, I'm not gonna do that anyway. It doesn't matter. Between that and the erythritol at 3g, I see how they're doing it. It's not bad. Scott's obviously biased towards Nick. I have no affiliation to Nick. I don't feel positive or negative to a Nick. All right, let's go to the scoring. By the way, I picked this up at Publix for $6.99. 3, 2, 1. Go. Oh, you're crazy. It was tasty, dude. It had all this stuff in it. Nick, you got lucky with this guy here.

I teased it earlier for the next ice cream, which is called Frozen One. Even higher protein. 40g. 40g OF PROTEIN. Scott's gains are getting huge here right now. This is the ice cream cone. That's the only Bobby approved. That is way better than ice cream we made. That is very like ice cream. It's very ice creamish. I agree. 100% agree. Sprouts branded coconut cone. Okay. The cleanest cone on the market. It literally is coconut milk, rice flour, coconut sugar, egg, and salt. So clean. So fresh and so clean. All right, so Scott, we're going to have it out of the pint here. Oh yeah. I want this cone. I want the cone. Cold. Oh wow. That literally tastes like apple pie. That's crazy. Tastes like some Wow. Skim milk, milk protein concentrate, allulose, apple juice concentrate, vanilla, cinnamon. Wow. My only qual with this one as I deem it's not non-GMO dairy, but besides that, they're using real apple juice in here. Oh, really? That's impressive. Let me try again. I was going to get the other flavors, but they were sold out at Target. That's very good ice cream. I wish I had another flavor to try, too. One serving has 13g of protein. Considering it's got all that protein stuff in it, it's still pretty good. I like it. What's interesting is these high protein ones today don't taste like chalky or nasty. Don't taste like that terrible pizza we had. No. [laughter] No. Doesn't taste like the GLP-1 pizza from the previous video. NOT GOOD. If you want to know about the healthiest frozen pizzas, we'll link to that video right here. You're happy with that one? Just can't stop eating. Wow. I'm feeling pretty good about this. All right, let's go to the scoring. I did get this one, by the way, at Target for $6.99. Scores on 3, 2, 1. Go. Oh, nine out of 10. Are you judging on the cone, Rosie, though, or the ice cream? Ice cream. REALLY? REALLY? WOW. 'Cause you're eating a lot of that cone. Count, [laughter] please. Is that why she just asked me to dump the ice cream in the cone so she can just have the cone? I don't know.

All right, the scores are in. Frozen One. Pretty high on the leaderboard. Next up, we have Strauss Organic ice cream. Dig in, guys. This is similar to the um Alden Organic we had earlier. Just a few ingredients. Organic dairy, organic sugar, no nasty preservatives, no natural flavoring here. Let's see. [clears throat] Get in there. Let's see. French vanilla. Try this one. Why do they call it French vanilla versus regular vanilla? I don't know. Good question. Anyone knows? Let us know, please. Sugar is not bad. 16g of added per serving. It is cane sugar, but compare it to like the Ben & Jerry's earlier of 30-some odd, that's nothing. That's a good solid traditional, not like wild, not Cosmic Bliss melting. Yeah. Yeah. It's good. It's a good vanilla. Yeah. I like the vanilla flavor though. It tastes a little like generic, I think. This one. Yeah. Just a little bit. Blue. We're still deliberating, but Rosie obviously knows the score. The chocolate's better than the vanilla. But that's everything, right? Well, that's Dutch chocolate. Mhm. All right, this one I got at Sprouts for $7.99. Let's go to the score. All right. 3, 2, 1. Go. Ooh, Rosie. The score there. You like that one, huh? Sweet. You're You're like a little Amish baby. Not as good as Cosmic Bliss. That is good. That is Rosie's north star, the Cosmic Bliss. All right, [laughter] scores are in.

Next ice cream is for the dairy-free. So guts GETTING A BIT VINEGAR. This is called Fro-Yo and Strawberry and Vanilla. Only made with four ingredients. Try it out, Scotty. Go for it. Coconut cream, strawberries, honey, and bananas. It's soft. Well, it's been sitting out for 25 minutes. [laughter] If this is one of those ones if you eat it straight from the freezer, it's going to be very, very Ugh. Yeah, it's disgusting. Oh, don't make me eat that again. It tastes like frozen coconut cream. Gross. That's gross. Yeah. That's gross. It tastes like a can of coconut cream. I know what to do. I That was frozen with a little bit of sweetener in there. Not good. I paid $6 for that. That Sprouts. Some things shouldn't be ice cream. Now, we had earlier the Cosmic Bliss one that tasted like really good ice cream, right? Yeah, this is like this is a bit of a a joke. The strawberry don't Yeah, it doesn't really taste like strawberry either. I mean, the ingredients it is real strawberries. It is strawberries and honey and coconut cream. What's the cream in there? Coconut cream, not ice cream, not cow cream. No, it's dairy-free. 5, 4, 3, 2. Ooh, that hurts. Yeah. Fro-Yo is very, very down on the leaderboard after that score.

Ready for a brand new ice cream that just came on the market made out of cottage cheese. Extra [laughter] dairy for you, Scotty. This was $7.99 at Sprouts. It's called Smear Case. Peanut butter and vanilla. That's going to be what it looks like when I'm done with this. [laughter] I walked into that one right there. Oh my god. So, cottage cheese with a little bit of cane sugar. Oh, it's the protein. 42g of protein. They call it the protein dealer blend on here, which is collagen and whey protein. 14g of added sugar. That one just came out of the freezer. Start with Start with this one. Oh, yeah. That looks creamy smoothie. This is the peanut butter one. Okay. Whoa, that's a good peanut butter. Well, I taste a little bit of an aftertaste of the cottage cheese. Yeah, it's not bad. It's not great. So, there's 14g of protein per serving. 42 in the whole thing here. Cottage cheese has been blowing up on the internet like the last couple years. People using it for all different types of recipes. You can turn it into sauces, crepes, pancakes because it's high protein. The funny thing is like our grandma was eating it out of the center of a like cantaloupe back in the '80s and now cottage cheese is all the rage. I actually love cottage cheese. Maybe not an ice cream. No, this was $7.99 at Sprouts. We go to the scoring right now. 3, 2, 1. Go. OH, WE FINALLY GOT ONE. Took a while, but we finally came to the same level here.

Next up, Alex's ice cream here. Their claim to fame is made with A2 dairy, which is more digestible for your gut. All right, we got Pistachio Crunch made with Graza olive oil and Mint Brownie. I actually love pistachio stuff, so let's see. I'm allergic to pistachio. No, you're not. After I ate Dad's whole bowl of pistachio on his desk when we were kids, I threw up on the white carpet and he whooped my butt. Really? Yes. Psychologically, I want pistachios. M. Wow. The pistachio is amazing. So, the good is that it's made with real ingredients, which is nice. The bad is the primary sweetener is cane sugar, but 19g per serving for the pistachio. To us super healthy people like me, what's wrong with cane sugar? I mean, ideally, you'd want to get an unrefined sugar like the coconut sugar or the maple sugar. Mhm. But if you're going to have cane sugar and ice cream, you want to keep it limited, I'd say, to below 18ish g 'cause it's refined sugar. It's a refined sugar. Exactly. And so when you're having 31g like in the Ben & Jerry's, that one's great. It's good. It's very solid. Yeah. 21g in a Mint Brownie. This one I picked up at Sprouts for $7.99 a pint. Mhm. They actually used to make this with grass-fed dairy, but now they just use A2. Do you want to show what you said here? The mint is too minty. NOT THE BEST. WOW. AND ROSIE IS actually a mint aficionado. She drinks love it. She drinks the Flave City mint chocolate protein twice a day, every day. So she says it's too aggressive. You got to listen to her. Interesting. 3, 2, 1. GO. NINE OUT OF 10. NINE. WAIT, NO. Three out of 10. [laughter] Three out of 10 for Rosie. Yeah, it's still ice cream. It was decent, but now the score goes way down thanks to the rose honey effect from the farm ice cream.

Now, up until now, every ice cream has been from the grocery store. This is just rolling out to the stores right now. But I wanted to highlight it because it comes in this cool little carton here. It's like a big stick of butter. It's super cute. It's awesome. The ingredients are crazy. Try Scotty. They're using organic regenerative A2 milk and cream, organic eggs. Is that recycled milk? Raw honey, organic peanut butter. I mean, literally crazy ingredients. Nutty Cowboy. That's Nutty Cowboy. Nutty Cowboy's got a bunch of cacao beans, coconut sugar, and cocoa butter. The thing French looks good, but on the inside it's bad. This is bad. Yeah, that one's bad. No, it's not. Yeah, Rosie. Stick up for the farm. Nah, I think we can conclude that we shouldn't be using honey as a sweetener. Yeah, I think you're right. I think in the freezing process it crystallizes and changes the flavor a little bit. Stick with coconut sugar, maple sugar. The sign here says that sometimes I have ice cream for dessert is just really good. All right, let's go to the score. 3, 2, 1. Go. Oh, super low. Got it. Some weird after flavors. I don't know, dude. The honey is not money. Which means THE WINNER OF THE HEALTHIEST ice cream from the store is COSMIC BLISS. [screaming] That's it. Like, subscribe, share. If you want to see more videos like this, let us know. Bye. Warm them up. Warm them up.
