Hey everyone, Connor Grenette here and we are going to turn your dinks into weapons in under five minutes. I am here with Randy. She has gotten over 40 plus medals in 45, five, 50 plus on the PPA tour. She is a force to be reckoned with. Talk to us about some of the stuff that'll take your game to the next level.
Okay, I think what I really need to work on is doing more with my dink. Getting more spin on the ball, getting more um arc on the ball, something that will give me easier pop-ups or speed ups cuz that's where I really like to go.
>> She loves attacking. And we're going to get her to attack more and more often. So, the prescription for the dinks here to weaponize them is going to be first thing we want to do is make our contact point a little bit higher up, closer to the tip of the paddle. So, we want to be aiming right around here on the paddle when we're hitting these dinks.
The second thing that we want to be thinking about is a smaller compact swing. We don't want to really take a big fast swing. A lot of times when people attack this ball, they're like, I'm going to rush this and hit it as hard as I can. Slowing it down and kind of sharpening that is going to be really key.
The third thing is we want to kind of lead with the tip of the paddle. So, we're going around that ball as opposed to this big swing through. This allows us to kind of sharpen that angle and hit a little bit more aggressively to push them off the court.
>> Keep that paddle tip in front of your hand.
>> Yep. Paddle tip in front.
>> Nice.
>> When we're missing long here, we're going more through this ball. We want to go around it. So that's where that tip of the paddle leading comes in. The tip of the paddle is in front of my wrist here so that I can sculpt around it. So, we're here. We're more around it like that. We're getting that feel. We're keeping that elbow down. Sometimes people want to like do this.
>> We're just getting a little We're not really worried about the spin. The spin comes naturally when we do this correctly. Nice. Outside.
>> Yep.
>> Keep that paddle tip in front of your hand.
>> Yep. front.
>> Nice.
>> Nice.
>> Can you feel yourself starting to curl of the ball here?
>> Feels much better. Feels like I'm getting some shape on the ball. Getting some more spin on the ball. Getting some action on the ball. It's good.
>> Smaller swing.
>> Yep. Keep that paddle tip in front of the hand.
>> Yep. Nice paddle tip in front. No back swing.
>> Yep.
We have now [snorts] arrived at the checkup. Talk to me about how this is feeling. Anything you liked? Anything that still feels weird? Give us the breakdown here.
>> Okay. I'm going to have to remember I got to just be doing this with my shoulder. It's It's going to be tricky, but they're not going to know what's coming. Cuz when I go like this and the ball goes like that, they're not going to expect it.
Now that we've cured Ry's dinks and she's sharpened them to really attack her opponents, she's going to be a force to be reckoned with in 5050 plus. Watch out for more tips like this and drills on how to execute it. Check out Tui Pickle Ball Lab. We break down the mechanics of the game and so much more. I'll see you there.
