The Darker Side Of Avoidant Attachment

There's two reasons that a person who has avoidant attachment style can also become more manipulative and have more narcissistic traits.

One is that we do find a genetic predisposition toward more selfish views that has to be trained out of a child in a securely attached family. But some people do have a genetic predisposition toward looking at themsel as most important.

But second and I think more important is the nurture aspect. People who are more manipulative view other people as being malicious in their harm that they do. It's not other people are stressed out so they act foolishly like an ethical avoidant would think. It's other people actively don't care and will hurt me and take from me if they get the chance. So I have to push back on them and weaponize relationships and communication and sex and everything to get them to leave me alone. That's what creates the manipulative variant of avoidant attachment.
